Eastern Rural Zone has two (2) full-time Emergency Medicine positions available at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, NL. These positions are fee-for-service and available immediately. A shared 0.5 FTE appointment could potentially be considered as an alternative.ER shifts are allocated in an equitable and predictable templated format. ER MD shifting is solo, with ER Nurse Practitioner support from 8:00am?4:00pm on weekdays. A limited amount of second ER MD shifting is also available during peak periods. The position involves a minimum of 13?14 shifts per month ? day shifts are 10 hours and night shifts are 14 hours.Core generalist specialty support resources are in place. A dedicated portable ultrasound is based in the ER and 24-hour emergent CT scanning is available on site. MD ambulance transfer escort duties and operating room assistance may also be required. Excellent communication skills, a team player approach, and a strong commitment to high quality patient care are essential.Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital provides services to a catchment area of approximately 20,000 people. The hospital has 41 acute care beds including palliative care, medical/surgical, obstetrics, pediatric, and ICU beds, as well as 9 ER beds and 44 long-term care beds. Services include anesthesia, chemotherapy, family practice, general surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, ICU/Cardiac, internal medicine, laboratory, palliative care, pathology, pediatrics, psychiatry, radiology, respiratory therapy, ultrasonography, and 24-hour emergency (Category A).
