Quality Assurance Quality Control Engineer
Description
Employment type: Full-time We are looking for a QA/QC Engineer to own the quality of the Utilen platform end to end — building and maintaining automated test coverage, validating releases against deployed environments, and establishing the process and tooling that keep regressions out of production. This person is the gatekeeper for what ships. Key Responsibilities Design, write, and maintain automated tests across the stack: pytest for the FastAPI/Python backend and Celery tasks, and Vitest/React Testing Library for the React/TypeScript frontend. Own and grow code coverage targets, including SonarQube new-code coverage metrics, and report on coverage gaps by module. Build and maintain end-to-end and integration test suites that exercise multi-tenant flows (engagements, requests, messaging, document processing, AI retrieval). Develop and run load and performance tests (e.g. k6) against pre-production, identify latency regressions, and validate test design before attributing issues to endpoints. Define test plans and acceptance criteria for new features in partnership with engineering and product. Validate releases in deployed environments, since the platform is tested against live infrastructure rather than local builds. Triage, reproduce, and document defects with clear, minimal reproduction steps; verify fixes before closure. Maintain CI test stability — diagnose and fix flaky tests, async timing issues, and environment-specific failures. Contribute to QA process, release checklists, and quality gates as the team scales. Required Qualifications 3+ years in software QA, test automation, or quality engineering. Strong experience writing automated tests in Python (pytest) and/or JavaScript/TypeScript (Vitest, Jest, or similar). Solid understanding of REST API testing, test fixtures, mocking, and database state management in tests. Experience testing web applications end to end and debugging CI pipeline failures. Familiarity with coverage tooling and static analysis (SonarQube or equivalent). Methodical, detail-oriented approach to reproduction and documentation of defects. Preferred / Nice to Have Experience with multi-tenant SaaS and the data-isolation testing it demands. Load/performance testing experience (k6, Locust, or similar). Exposure to AWS, containerized environments (ECS/Docker), and cloud-deployed test environments. Familiarity with SOC 2 or other compliance-driven QA practices. Company Description Utilen connects the companies that build and maintain the electric grid, enabling utilities, EPCs, and manufacturers to source, specify, and transact directly on a single platform. The company replaces legacy coordination by phone calls and spreadsheets with streamlined, system-based workflows designed for the scale of today’s grid investments. With U.S. utilities committing nearly $1.4T to grid investment through 2030, Utilen is building the unified system the power-infrastructure supply chain will rely on in the coming decade. Utilen is already live with enterprise pilots across key industry stakeholders and is backed by experienced operators from all sides of the market. Team members have the opportunity to shape the core infrastructure technology for a rapidly evolving, high-impact industry.
