Research Laboratory Technician

We are seeking individuals qualified to work as a Research Laboratory Technician to support the mission of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD . Access to NIH’s unparalleled resources and niche scientific initiatives Duties Include: Perform specialized laboratory techniques supporting malaria research, including cell and tissue culture of malaria parasites, ELISAs, column chromatography, flow cytometry, growth inhibition assays, and mosquito membrane feeding assays. Conduct routine laboratory experiments and operate scientific instruments such as ELISA readers, spectrophotometers, and other analytical equipment. Prepare, organize, track, and maintain laboratory samples, reagents, supplies, and equipment. Maintain accurate laboratory documentation, including bound notebook records, methods, procedures, modifications, and experimental results. Analyze and discuss experimental results with project officers to help plan subsequent studies and refine research approaches. Prepare media, stock solutions, and reagents needed for laboratory work. Provide training and technical support to students and laboratory personnel on specialized procedures and equipment. Support laboratory quality control and operations, including equipment upkeep, routine maintenance, SOP development, supply ordering, biosafety handling, and preparation of data for publication. Certifications & Licenses Master’s degree in Biology or a related discipline. Four (4) years of experience in biology or related field. Required Skills Molecular and cell culture techniques especially malaria parasite culture, blood-stage and sexual-stage culture, and general sterile technique. Assay performance experience with ELISAs, flow cytometry, column chromatography, growth inhibition assays, and mosquito membrane feeding assays.
