This position is located in the West TN Homes Division. This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position. Qualifications Education and Experience: Must hold a State of Tennessee Respiratory Therapist License. Necessary Special Qualifications Respiratory Therapist License must be maintained for the duration of employment. Complete a background check in a manner approved by the appointing authority. Some positions may require a valid driver¿s license. Must be registered in State of Tennessee. Overview Under general supervision, an employee in this class performs professional respiratory care therapy work, including use of respiratory therapy equipment and the administration of prescribed drugs and medications. This class differs from Respiratory Care Therapy Director in that an incumbent of the latter provides directs a respiratory care program and often supervises incumbents of this class. Responsibilities Administers prescribed drugs and medications to the cardio-respiratory system; administers chest physiotherapy, postural drainage, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation; inserts, maintains, and manages artificial airways. Provides respiratory care in conjunction with life support systems and critical care techniques. Responds to medical emergencies as member of medical emergency response team. Assists patients in the therapeutic and diagnostic use of medical gases, administering apparatus, humidification, and aerosols. Monitors patient via assessment pre- and post-therapy for response to therapy. Administers specific testing techniques, including measuring ventilatory volumes, pressures and flows, specimen collection and analysis of blood and other materials, and related physiologic monitoring. Recommends changes in therapy based on patient assessment.
