Role Description The Senior Embedded Engineer will design, develop, and maintain embedded software solutions for complex systems in a full-time, on-site role based in Austin, TX. This position involves hands-on embedded programming, integrating software with hardware components, and implementing robust solutions for Internet of Things (IoT) and related applications. Day-to-day responsibilities include architecting embedded software, performing detailed debugging and troubleshooting, optimizing performance and reliability, and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as hardware, product, and quality engineering. The Senior Embedded Engineer will participate in code reviews, contribute to technical documentation and design specifications, and help define best practices for embedded development within the organization. The role also includes mentoring less experienced engineers and contributing to technical decision-making for current and future products. Qualifications Strong experience in Embedded Software Programming and Embedded Software design for real-time or resource-constrained systems. Proficiency in Software Development practices, including version control, testing, and documentation for embedded platforms. Advanced Debugging skills, including use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and in-circuit debuggers. Hands-on experience with Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, including connectivity protocols and integration with cloud or edge services. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Experience with C/C++ and common embedded toolchains, RTOS environments, and microcontroller or microprocessor-based systems. Familiarity with hardware interfaces (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, CAN) and reading schematics to support software-hardware integration. Proven ability to work on-site in cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and lead technical initiatives or projects. Background in safety-critical, industrial, or consumer electronics products is beneficial.
