Senior Security Engineer

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for someone who wants to own security from the ground up rather than joining a large, siloed security function. You'll work directly with Engineering, Platform and Product teams to embed security into every stage of the software development lifecycle, helping build a secure, scalable platform in a highly regulated healthcare environment. What you'll be doing: • Building secure SDLC practices across engineering • Leading application security initiatives • Securing AWS cloud infrastructure • Threat modelling, design and code reviews • Driving security automation across CI/CD • Supporting ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA and other compliance initiatives • Acting as the technical security partner across the business They're looking for someone who: ✅ Has 5+ years in Security Engineering, Application Security or DevSecOps ✅ Is genuinely technical—not someone who's spent the last few years purely writing policies or managing governance ✅ Has hands-on AWS security experience (IAM, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, KMS, Security Hub etc.) ✅ Can script in Python (or similar) and is comfortable with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CDK) ✅ Enjoys working directly alongside software and platform engineers The ideal background: The hiring manager's dream candidate is someone who started their career as a Software Engineer or DevOps Engineer before specialising in Security. They need someone technical enough to earn the trust of engineering teams while being comfortable owning security across application, cloud and compliance—not just one small area. This is not a role for someone who only comes from governance, audit or policy writing.
