Description

Software Development Engineer – C++ & Python We are looking for a contractor with a strong ability to work effectively in a large codebase using C++ and Python. The primary focus of this role is to improve operational efficiency while contributing to engineering productivity and product hardening. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in systems and storage and is comfortable operating across test, infrastructure, and release engineering workflows. A strong foundation in networking, storage protocols, Linux kernel concepts, and core operating systems principles—including concurrency, scheduling, synchronization, and memory management—is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities Support debugging and investigation in systems- and storage-related areas where tooling, test behavior, and infrastructure intersect. Improve triage quality by helping define better signatures, routing logic, and workflows for issue classification. Improve release health, test execution health, triage trends, pass-rate trends, blocker visibility, and operational bottlenecks. Improve and extend internal tools and workflows built around Jenkins. Work with Git-based development workflows for day-to-day contributions, code reviews, branch management, and collaboration. Partner with engineering stakeholders to identify high-value opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve triage scalability. Analyze recurring failure patterns and contribute to AI-assisted triage improvements. Skills Strong programming skills in C++, C, and Python, with the ability to write clean, high- performance, and maintainable production code. Ability to think critically about system architecture, trade-offs, and failure modes in complex, distributed environments. A strong background in relevant systems software projects, such as distributed systems, operating system internals (Linux kernel), and storage environments. Good understanding of Git and standard source-control workflows. Experience triaging engineering issues, test failures, or operational incidents in a structured way. Ability to work independently, identify patterns, and improve operational workflows with minimal supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Compensation: $75 - $100 ID: 37451967
