As part of the USDM team, you have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies through our many partnerships with companies like Microsoft, Google, Oracle, DocuSign, Box, and many more. Founded in Santa Barbara in 1999, USDM has grown to a progressive, global company with 300+ remote employees and offices throughout the US, Canada, and Germany. Role Overview As a Sr. AI Solutions Architect at USDM Life Sciences, you will design and deliver production-grade agentic AI pipelines on Vertex AI for pharmaceutical and biotech clients who are transforming how they operate with AI. You will work directly with Google engineers and client architects, serving as USDM's senior technical voice on active engagements. This is a hands-on delivery role. You will be in the code, in the architecture, and in the room with clients from day one. If you are looking for an advisory or strategy role, this is not it. If you want to build real systems that matter in a regulated environment where quality and reliability are non-negotiable, read on. What You Will Own Design and build production agentic orchestration layers on Vertex AI using modular, composable, independently invokable agents. Deliver GCP pipeline infrastructure using Cloud Dataflow, Apache Beam, Airflow, Cloud Functions, and BigQuery. Integrate FHIR Server APIs within enterprise security and data governance controls for pharma and healthcare clients. Own GCP IAM design, agent identity governance, and log retention architecture for regulated pharmaceutical data environments. Author to-be technical architecture documentation (D3) covering GCP infrastructure and security. Lead technical working sessions with client engineering teams and Google engineers, representing USDM's delivery expertise. Mentor junior consultants and contribute to internal knowledge sharing, reusable assets, and delivery standards. Support pre-sales and proposal activities with technical scoping and solution design input. What You Bring An active Google Cloud Professional certification (Cloud Architect, Data Engineer, or ML Engineer), current and not lapsed. A Google Cloud Delivery Readiness Program (DRP) score at the Master tier, demonstrating validated GCP delivery expertise across certifications, skills, and real-world project experience. Production Vertex AI agentic pipeline experience. You have built and shipped real systems at scale, not demos or proofs of concept. Hands-on GCP pipeline engineering experience with Dataflow, Beam, Airflow, and BigQuery in production environments. FHIR Server API integration experience, R4 minimum, built against a real FHIR server in a healthcare or pharma environment. Experience designing GCP security models including IAM, service account governance, agent identity controls, and log retention in regulated environments. Production pipeline observability experience including failure handling, retry logic, drift detection, and SLA monitoring. Strong communication skills and the ability to lead technical discussions with both engineering teams and business stakeholders. Even Better If You Have Experience delivering in life sciences, pharmaceutical, or GxP regulated environments. A background in Google Professional Services or a large global systems integrator with an active GCP practice. FHIR R5 depth and the ability to hold design-level conversations with FHIR engineers. Familiarity with large-scale enterprise data environments and multi-tenant cloud architecture.
