Description

Founding UI Engineer - United States - remote. Aspiron is proud to have partnered with a pre-seed AI security company at the intersection of AI security; working in the niche area of reliability and observability within agentic workflows. The company's core product sits at the intersection of AI deployment and security, providing holistic insight and controls over AI agents through observability, guardrails, and policy-as-code enforcement. The platform gives enterprise teams the ability to monitor agent behavior in real time, simulate deployments before they go live, and apply deterministic controls that go beyond simple prompt protection, allowing enterprise firms the ability to govern the full action space of agents operating in production. As a founding UI Engineer, you'll be working alongside a talented and tenured development team, with leaders fully-integrated into the AI space and with previous exit experience. This role will allow for full ownership of the UI engineering and component architecture from day one. There is an existing design foundation to inherit, but the real expectation is that you take genuine ownership of it — establishing the patterns, design system, and component library that will underpin the entire product as it scales. Your day to day will include: Building dashboards that provide simultaneous oversight of multiple autonomous agents across the org Engineering for two distinct user groups: security engineers and AI/ML engineers, each with their own workflows and mental models For security engineers: policy authoring interfaces, pre-deployment simulation in a digital twin environment, and forensic investigation of policy violations For AI/ML engineers: agent registration, real-time monitoring of agent trajectories and tool calls, and remediating agent behaviour against compliance requirements Establishing and owning the component architecture and design system — reusable, type-safe, accessible components that scale across every feature Translating high-fidelity designs into production-ready UI, shipping code directly using coding agents and modern frontend tooling Running customer discovery with existing partners and feeding findings directly back into product and interface decisions Key requirements: A background in cybersecurity, AI security, or a strong AI/ML domain — to understand the key pain points and language of the users you're building for An active AI practitioner — you actively enjoy trying out new methods, keep your finger on the pulse with new research and releases, and look to integrate these into your workflow to multiply your output 8+ years of experience shipping component libraries or design systems at scale, with previous 0-1 or founding experience Strong design taste paired with engineering rigour — you can translate a high-fidelity design into a polished, accessible implementation and know how to push back when something doesn't work Comfortable working in ambiguity and directly with the C-suite, taking ownership of technical and architectural direction Hands-on experience with data visualisation, real-time state management, and complex hierarchical UI — libraries such as D3, LayerChart, or Recharts Proficiency in Svelte 5 and TypeScript (React background also considered); Tailwind for styling If you've previously worked within the observability, reliability, or security tooling space — particularly designing or engineering for data-heavy, expert-user interfaces then that's a real plus.
