About The Role The Menzies Philanthropic Foundation is seeking a dedicated WordPress Developer to join our team of volunteers. This role is vital in supporting our digital strategy, maintaining our online presence, and ensuring our IT infrastructure remains robust and secure. Reporting directly to the Founder, the ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and updating our external-facing websites, primarily built on WordPress. The role involves working closely with our technology development team to implement new features, optimize website performance, and enhance user experience. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about technology and social impact to contribute their skills in a meaningful way. As a volunteer, you will play a key role in shaping the foundation’s digital footprint and ensuring our online resources effectively serve our community goals. Qualifications Candidates should possess proven experience in WordPress development, including familiarity with Elementor and custom theme creation. Strong understanding of web design principles, SEO best practices, and website optimization techniques is essential. Experience with plugin management, website security, and performance tuning is highly desirable. The ideal applicant should have excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote volunteer setting. Basic knowledge of social media integration and automation tools is a plus. A background in IT, web development, or related fields will be advantageous, though a genuine passion for contributing to nonprofit initiatives is equally important. Responsibilities Organize and manage web development projects, ensuring timely updates and enhancements. Perform site updates, including structural adjustments and aesthetic improvements using Elementor templates. Verify website usability, responsiveness, and optimization for various devices and browsers. Implement and optimize SEO strategies to improve website visibility and ranking. Ensure high-performance, availability, and security of the website by managing technical aspects of the CMS. Create custom WordPress themes when necessary, primarily leveraging Elementor for most development work. Assist in integrating WordPress sites with social media platforms to maximize automation and engagement. Regularly update plugins and WordPress versions to maintain security and performance standards. Collaborate with the technology team to evaluate IT projects and implement new technological solutions. Support the foundation’s digital strategy by providing technical expertise and innovative ideas.
