A Junior Data Engineer is responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting data pipelines and data infrastructure that enable organizations to collect, process, store, and analyze data efficiently. The ideal candidate will assist in developing and maintaining data pipelines, integrating data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality, and supporting analytics and reporting needs. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with modern data engineering tools and cloud technologies. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data. Assist in building and optimizing data pipelines for structured and unstructured data. Monitor data workflows and troubleshoot pipeline failures. Perform data validation, cleansing, and quality checks. Support the design and maintenance of data warehouses and data lakes. Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and software engineers to meet business requirements. Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and reporting. Document data processes, workflows, and technical specifications. Participate in code reviews and follow data engineering best practices. Ensure data security, governance, and compliance standards are followed. Required Skills Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL). Understanding of Python for data processing and automation. Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and data integration. Knowledge of data warehousing fundamentals. Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Preferred Skills Experience with data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow. Exposure to big data technologies such as Apache Spark or Apache Hadoop. Knowledge of cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake or Google BigQuery. Educational Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant internships, projects, or certifications are a plus.
