This role is for one of our clients Location: New York City, NY Salary Range: $150,000 – $250,000 (Base) Requirements About the Role We are seeking a talented and motivated Backend Java Developer to join our growing engineering team in New York City. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs that power mission-critical applications. You will collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and cross-functional teams to develop high-performance, secure, and reliable backend services that support business growth. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex backend challenges, optimizing distributed systems, and building scalable applications in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Requirements Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of professional experience in Backend Java Development Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming principles Experience building scalable backend applications using Spring Boot, Spring Framework, or similar Java frameworks Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices Strong understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle, along with SQL optimization Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software development practices Strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimization Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment Preferred Qualifications Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and messaging platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ Experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices Experience building high-availability and fault-tolerant systems Interest in cloud-native technologies and modern backend architecture Benefits Benefits Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $150,000 – $250,000 (depending on experience and qualifications) Competitive equity or bonus opportunities Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits Generous paid time off and holidays Professional development and learning opportunities Collaborative and innovative work environment in New York City
