About The Role We are seeking a skilled and motivated JavaScript Developer to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be instrumental in modernizing our internal productivity and scheduling applications by replacing outdated ColdFusion systems with modern, efficient, and user-friendly web applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in JavaScript development, with experience designing and deploying scalable, secure, and maintainable web solutions. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, including department staff and IT personnel, to understand requirements, develop solutions, and ensure successful implementation of new systems. Qualifications Required: Proven experience as a JavaScript Developer with a solid portfolio of web application projects. Strong understanding of core JavaScript concepts and modern ECMAScript standards. Experience with front-end frameworks or libraries such as React, Angular, Vue.js, or modern vanilla JavaScript. Proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3. Experience working with asynchronous programming and APIs (RESTful, etc.). Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively as a contractor. A proactive and detail-oriented approach to work. Desired (Beneficial) Experience with back-end JavaScript frameworks and runtimes such as Node.js and Express. Familiarity with database technologies like MySQL. Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, or Cypress. Knowledge of web security best practices. Experience working within Agile development methodologies. Previous experience migrating legacy applications to modern technologies. Familiarity with cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar environments. Willingness to learn and understand ColdFusion applications if not already familiar. Education And Experience Minimum of 3-5 years of professional JavaScript development experience. This position is 100% remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere. Responsibilities Collaborate with stakeholders, including department staff and IT teams, to gather and analyze requirements for new and existing applications. Design, develop, test, and deploy modern web-based productivity and scheduling applications utilizing JavaScript and relevant front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js. Develop and integrate applications with back-end APIs, databases, and other services to ensure seamless functionality. Ensure the performance, security, and scalability of all developed solutions to meet organizational standards and user expectations. Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code adhering to best practices and coding standards. Participate in code reviews to uphold quality and consistency across development projects. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruptions. Assist in migrating data and functionalities from legacy ColdFusion applications to modern JavaScript-based solutions, ensuring data integrity and minimal impact on operations. Stay current with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in JavaScript development to continuously improve skills and project outcomes. Contribute to the development of technical documentation for implemented solutions, facilitating future maintenance and upgrades. Provide ongoing support and maintenance for deployed applications throughout the contract duration, ensuring optimal performance and user satisfaction.
