About The Role We are seeking multiple Associate Real-Time Software Engineers to join our Phantom Works program, located in Hazelwood, MO, Cambridge, MA, or Mesa, AZ. This role is pivotal in developing Vehicle Management System (VMS) software that serves as the central nervous system for advanced aerospace platforms. As part of Boeing's innovative team, you will contribute to the design, development, and integration of software solutions that support modern defense and space applications. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-stakes projects that push the boundaries of aerospace technology, with a focus on safety-critical and flight-critical systems. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain necessary security clearances, as this role involves working on sensitive government programs. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related fields, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. U.S. citizenship is mandatory, with the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance. Candidates should have a strong background in C/C++ programming, with at least 3 years of experience in software development lifecycle (SDLC). Experience in designing and developing real-time or non-real-time systems, especially safety or flight-critical software, is essential. Preferred qualifications include active U.S. Secret Security Clearance, familiarity with real-time operating systems such as VX Works, and experience with tools like Git. Knowledge of standards such as MIL-HDBK-516C, MIL-STD-882E, DO-178C, and agile development methodologies will be advantageous. Responsibilities Develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for complex software systems aligned with project specifications. Write, test, and integrate software code to create fully functional systems, ensuring high quality and adherence to safety standards. Create and execute verification plans, test procedures, and environments; document test results to validate software compliance with requirements. Provide technical leadership and guidance to software teams, fostering best practices and continuous improvement. Support the development and maintenance of software processes, tools, metrics, and documentation to optimize development workflows. Serve as a subject matter expert in software domains, addressing system-specific issues, regulations, and compliance requirements. Monitor team progress to ensure deliverables meet project timelines, quality standards, and industry regulations. Mentor and train junior engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development within the team. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software components into aerospace platforms.
