Description

Role Description This is a contract, remote role for a Kubernetes Platform Engineer for our State Client. You will design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available Kubernetes-based platforms to support modern application workloads. Day-to-day responsibilities include defining platform architecture, creating reference designs, and guiding the implementation of container orchestration, networking, storage, and security best practices. The role involves collaborating closely with software development teams to design cloud-native solutions, standardize CI/CD pipelines, and ensure seamless integration with existing systems and services. The architect will also troubleshoot complex platform issues, optimize performance and reliability, document standards and patterns, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and operations teams. In addition, the role will evaluate new Kubernetes ecosystem tools, contribute to infrastructure-as-code practices, and help shape platform roadmaps aligned with business and client objectives. Qualifications Lead the architecture and deployment of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and other Kubernetes-based platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and best practices in cloud-native development. Design scalable, resilient, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions utilizing VMware, OpenStack, Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure, and Rackspace environments. Develop comprehensive solution architectures incorporating service-oriented architecture (SOA), microservices, SaaS (Software as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) models. Implement automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, PowerShell, Bash scripting, and Git to streamline deployment pipelines and infrastructure provisioning. Ensure compliance with security standards including FedRAMP and VPN configurations while establishing robust cloud security protocols. Provide technical leadership in integrating virtualization technologies like VMware and Citrix to optimize resource utilization across virtualized environments. Support continuous improvement through Agile methodologies by participating in SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices to accelerate delivery cycles. Qualifications Proven experience designing and implementing cloud architectures with expertise in AKS / Kubernetes platforms.
