NOTE: Haiven is located in Washington State. State-side U.S. citizens are preferred for the role. About Haiven & This Job Haiven is building the next generation of gaming communities. Our platform helps players discover games, connect with communities, chat with friends, and engage directly with developers through a modern social platform designed specifically for gaming. We're looking for a Mid to Senior React Native Mobile Developer to take ownership of building Haiven's mobile application for iOS and Android. This is a hands-on role for someone who can quickly understand an existing product, make sound technical decisions, and begin delivering production-quality mobile features with minimal ramp-up time. You will focus on designing, building, and maintaining high-performance mobile experiences, ensuring seamless integration between the mobile client and our backend APIs. We're building real-time chat and direct messaging, community social hubs, developer studios, and a virtual economy—all while defining the mobile architecture for a platform designed to scale. You will work closely with Product, Design, Backend, AI, and Frontend engineers to ship features used by real game developers and players, helping evolve the platform as we move through Alpha and into Beta. Apply your skills using Agile/SCRUM methodologies, rapid prototyping, and AI to augment code review and testing. Reporting to the VP of Product. What You'll Do Take ownership of developing Haiven's mobile applications for iOS and Android using React Native. Quickly become familiar with Haiven's existing product, APIs, and architecture. Design, build, and maintain responsive, high-performance mobile experiences. Translate product requirements into polished, production-ready mobile features. Integrate REST APIs, authentication, real-time services, notifications, and social functionality. Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Backend Engineering throughout feature development. Optimize application performance, startup time, responsiveness, battery usage, and memory consumption. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code. Participate in code reviews and help establish mobile engineering best practices. Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve application stability. Support App Store and Google Play release processes. Contribute to improving Haiven's overall engineering quality and mobile architecture. Who You Are 4+ years of professional software engineering experience. 3+ years building production mobile applications with React Native. Demonstrated experience shipping and maintaining applications on both iOS and Android. Strong proficiency with JavaScript and TypeScript. Strong understanding of React Native architecture, navigation, state management, and application lifecycle. Experience integrating REST APIs and authentication systems. Experience debugging, profiling, and optimizing mobile applications. Solid understanding of mobile UI/UX principles and platform conventions. Experience using Git in a collaborative development environment. Ability to work independently and make informed technical decisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Expo and the Expo ecosystem. Experience publishing applications to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Experience implementing push notifications, deep linking, and background services. Experience working with WebSockets or other real-time technologies. Familiarity with mobile analytics, crash reporting, and monitoring platforms. Experience writing automated tests for React Native applications. Familiarity with native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) development. Experience working with AWS-backed applications. Passion for gaming, gaming communities, or consumer social platforms. In your first days, you'll get the mobile development environment running, familiarize yourself with Haiven's existing platform and APIs, identify the fastest path toward a production-ready mobile application, and start building. Within your first several weeks, you'll have delivered working mobile features that the team can begin testing. We value thoughtful engineering, but we also value momentum. Compensation The expected base salary range for this position is $100,000–$120,000 USD , depending on experience, demonstrated mobile expertise, region, and the final scope of the role. Equity may also be included as part of the total compensation package. Our cash compensation is designed to provide stability for our early team, while our equity package is designed to reward the long-term impact of our founding engineers.
