Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role Developers and enterprises build on Claude through the Claude Platform. Our models are getting exponentially more intelligent, and our APIs and developer tools need to evolve just as quickly so developers can take advantage of that intelligence safely. We're hiring Engineering Managers to lead teams that build these APIs and developer tools. We are shipping APIs and infrastructure for building and running agents in production. These APIs ship alongside SDKs, docs, and tooling that developers (and agents!) utilize in order to build high quality integrations. These abstractions are backed by our identity, verification, and trust platform, which lets us scale access to Claude responsibly. You care about who uses what your team builds, and you've shaped roadmaps alongside product partners You've built and scaled distributed systems in production, and you have the technical depth required to guide architecture and API design You've led teams that ship quickly and hold a high quality bar You collaborate well across functions and can align teams you don't manage You care about Anthropic's mission and about developing AI safely Preferred qualifications Experience building agent infrastructure or products on top of LLMs Experience with identity, verification, access control, or trust and safety systems Deadline to apply: None. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Location Preference: Preference will be given to candidates based in NY, SEA, SF or the Bay Area given the current location of team. The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role's On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team. Your safety matters to us. How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. About Anthropic Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. Program Overview Some of our world's grand challenges, from resolving long-open problems in mathematics to designing medicines for neglected diseases, require deep expert judgment that today's AI still lacks. We're working toward an AI scientist, a system capable of the long-horizon reasoning and experimental judgment needed to push the frontier on problems like these. We believe frontier AI, developed safely, can meaningfully accelerate progress across science and engineering. Getting there requires close collaboration with people who have spent years at the frontier of their fields. The Anthropic STEM Fellows Program brings researchers and experts from across science and engineering into Anthropic for four months to take on the grand challenges of their fields with Claude. Working in small pods of Fellows from related fields, you will pair deep domain expertise with our frontier models and internal tooling to define the hardest open problems in your discipline, build the datasets and simulations that let us test and train Claude on them, and find exactly where it falls short. We're looking for Fellows across science and engineering. Prior machine learning experience is helpful but not required. Scientific judgment and a willingness to learn quickly matter more. Our first cohort of more than 20 STEM Fellows across mathematics, physics, the life sciences, and engineering, ran from June to September 2026. The problems they built now feed Claude's training and one of our internal science evaluations. What to Expect: A place in a small pod of Fellows working on related problems in your domain. Your pod meets weekly with Anthropic researchers to share methods, pressure-test ideas, and build on each other's work. A grand challenge at the frontier of your field: an ambitious, open-ended problem scoped with our research team so you can make real progress in four months. Access to frontier Claude models and internal evaluation tooling. Compensation: $100,000–$167,000 USD for the four-month fellowship (equivalent to $300,000–$500,000 USD annualized), and other benefits. Key responsibilities Setting grand challenges for your field: identifying long-horizon open problems where Claude falls short of expert judgment, and defining what real progress on them looks like. Building comprehensive datasets, simulations and rigorous, hard-to-game evaluations that test whether models can plan experiments, interpret data and reason about mechanisms, and systematically finding where they're confidently wrong. Applying Claude to open problems in your domain, using test-time compute strategies and integrating the scientific tools and software your field relies on. Minimum qualifications Are excited about the potential for AI to reason well about hard questions in their field where expert judgment matters. Hands-on experience using Claude and Claude Code in your day-to-day workflow. Hold a PhD in a STEM field and have several years of experience (eg post-doc or faculty). Are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-agency atmosphere for a few months and delivering concrete results. Existing authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the program. Logistics - Fellows The program runs from January 12th to May 8th 2027 , and is full-time for the duration; some fellowships may be considered for an extension. Applications are open until October 28, 2026 , and we plan to make offers by November 20th. Later stages will typically include a take-home exercise and conversations with our research team about your research interests and possible project directions. We ask that all Fellows attend a one-week in-person orientation in San Francisco. The default location is in San Francisco. We will consider remote engagements within the United States in certain circumstances. We are not currently able to sponsor visas for fellows. To participate in the Fellows program, you need to have or independently obtain full-time work authorization in the United States. This is a fixed-term contract position. Fellows are engaged through an employer of record, rather than employed directly by Anthropic. The below are Anthropic's policies for full time roles. These do NOT apply to the Fellows Program. Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. You'll operate as a force-multiplier to the Chairman and executive team: orchestrating execution across organizational boundaries, defining innovative pilots, testing hypotheses, structuring problems that don't yet have owners, and driving initiatives that directly shape Clover's growth and operational leverage. As a Chairman Programs Lead, you will: Architect Strategic Programs: Translate high-level goals into MECE workstreams with clear interfaces, owners, and timelines. Drive Execution with Chairman-Standard Rigor: Own initiatives from kickoff through outcomes. Set the pace. Maintain altitude and detail without losing either. Align Stakeholders Across Levels and Functions: Influence without authority. Drive accountability through clarity, not escalation. Translate Ambiguity Into Action: When no playbook exists, build one. When priorities are unclear, force rank them. When coordination breaks down, rebuild the system. Collaborate Across Boundaries: Manage projects that touch internal teams and external partners — vendors, regulators, and strategic collaborators. Align internal readiness to external dependencies. Success in this role looks like: First 90 days: Quickly grasp Clover's business model, establish key relationships, identify 2-3 high-priority initiatives, and implement a structured framework for tracking strategic projects. First 6 months: Successfully drive multiple cross-functional initiatives to completion, develop systems improving operational efficiency, and establish yourself as a trusted Chairman advisor on strategic priorities. First year: Create scalable coordination mechanisms that improve execution across teams, resolve strategic misalignments, and deliver measurable business impact on growth and operational leverage. You should get in touch if: You've had 3–10 years of experience at a top-tier consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG), in BizOps at a tech company, or in a high-trust internal strategy/Chief of Staff-type role. You think in structured logic, write with precision, and speak in synthesized insights. You're not a deck-maker. You're a system builder who wants to see the impact of your thinking play out in operations. You've driven complex, multi-org initiatives to the finish line — not just advised on them. You're energized by ambiguity, allergic to bureaucracy, and motivated by direct proximity to decision-making and value creation. You don't need positional authority to lead. You earn trust and create alignment through clarity, quality, and velocity. Benefits Overview : Financial Well-Being: Our commitment to attracting and retaining top talent begins with a competitive base salary and equity opportunities. Additionally, we offer a performance-based bonus program, 401k matching, and regular compensation reviews to recognize and reward exceptional contributions. About the role Data science is in a moment of reinvention: AI-generated code and agentic workflows are changing what it means to put analytical work into production. Posit's mission is to empower people to conduct trustworthy data analysis for themselves, their organizations, and the world at large. Posit Team is the trusted on-premises platform at the center: a place where data scientists and the organizations that rely on them can explore data, deploy applications and agents, expose and consume MCP servers, and do all of it with the visibility, accountability, and reproducibility that serious analytical work demands. We are seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will bring a builder's instinct to a team working at the intersection of data science, infrastructure, and AI. You will help us build new capabilities and features in our product suite, including things we haven't yet imagined possible, and you will drive those changes forward into our customers' hands. About you You are an enthusiastic generalist who thrives in the face of ambiguous requirements—an engineer who is just as good at starting things as you are at finishing them. Some qualities we value most: High agency You are driven. When something important feels daunting or underspecified, your first instinct is to prototype to clarify the value you can deliver, rather than wait for someone to give you the answers. Boldness in learning You are genuinely unafraid to tackle unfamiliar subjects. You know that nobody is an expert in everything, and you don't let unfamiliarity be a reason for not trying. You're not afraid to ask questions and make mistakes, because learning new techniques feels like an adventure and we share what we learn as a team. Proficiency in either Go or Typescript as well as in either Python or R, and experience with backend systems, data tooling, and data science frameworks are helpful for this role. Eagerness and boldness to learn is essential. User empathy and product sense You make judgment calls on behalf of users with minimal up front guidance and are willing to be wrong, because you will learn. Prior domain expertise with data science as a practice may help, but it is not the only way. Regardless, you lead with empathy: you optimize for solving a real customer problem, not for technical purity. Collaborative curiosity You are generous. When you learn something useful, your first instinct is to share it. You teach as readily as you learn, ask questions without ego, admit what you don't know, and lend a hand when someone's stuck. Interest in AI You are interested not just in using AI in your work, but building tools for customers to use AI in their own work. You also are curious, and you question when AI is not the right answer for a particular problem. You lean on your user empathy when building: knowing that some of our customers use and love AI in data science and others don't or are restricted from using it. Results-driven You are focused on delivering measurable value to customers. You have a strong technical background with a track record of shipping successful products. Within one week, you will… Ship code changes that meaningfully improves the experience for our customers. Within one month, you will… See your changes reflected in our public releases. Participate in feature planning and provide feedback. Feel comfortable navigating the codebase and understand how things fit together. Within three months, you will… Plan features and drive their development. Have a track record of teaching team members; both from your expertise and things you learn as you build. Have a track record of learning: both from the things you learned and taught us along the way; and from listening to internal users, external users, and how our customers use our products. Within six months, you will… Point to new features you built that we hadn't even dreamed were possible.
