Customer Success Manager, Scale
ExpelRemote (Fully Remote)41 days ago
Full TimeFully RemoteMid$93,900 - $136,200 / Year
coachingaccount managementcustomer successonboarding

Headquarters: Remote You've helped run a scale or pooled CS model before, or you've been inside one long enough to know what works and what doesn't. You know that scale CS done badly is just support with a fancier title, and done well it's a system that delivers consistent value to hundreds of customers. You want to join and help build the good version. Expel is an MDR company. Our customers are security teams who depend on us to find and stop threats. We're launching a scale model for a segment of our customer base, and we're building it from scratch: the playbooks, the automation, the operating model, the measurement framework. You won't inherit a finished system. You'll be a primary contributor to designing it. That means you're not just executing motions. You own specific programs within the model (new customer/onboarding cohorts, renewal campaigns, segment outreach), you exercise judgment on the edge cases the playbook doesn't cover, and you identify patterns across hundreds of customer interactions that tell you where the model needs to improve. When something breaks, you fix the process, not just the situation. Your success is measured by the team's retention outcomes across the scale segment, the quality of your execution, and the motions you build and improve. What Expel can do for you Put you at the center of building a scale CS model from scratch inside a security company, with the latitude to shape how it works Give you a company transforming security operations from industry-leading 20-minute outcomes toward 20-second outcomes with AI and automation, the kind of product story that makes CS conversations genuinely interesting Surround you with experienced CS leadership that has built scale models before and knows the difference between good and bad Connect you with customers who genuinely care about their security programs Offer a clear path to grow professionally as our scale program and company grow What you can do for Expel Help design, execute and continuously improve playbook-driven customer interactions across the scale segment: new customer/onboarding, health checks, renewals, proactive outreach Own specific motions or programs within the model, from design through execution and measurement Exercise judgment on edge cases, distinguishing between situations that fit the playbook, situations that need a creative solution, and situations that require escalation Design and lead one-to-many customer engagements: webinars, digital campaigns, scaled communications Identify patterns in customer interactions and translate them into process improvements that make the scale function stronger Maintain technical credibility in every interaction, speaking knowledgeably about Expel's service, security operations, and common integration patterns Provide coaching and guidance to associate-level team members on process execution and customer handling Contribute to the design of the scale operating model itself: systems requirements, automation workflows, measurement frameworks What you should bring with you 2+ years of customer success, account management, or customer-facing experience At least 2 years in the security industry (operations, products, consulting, GRC, or incident response) Experience in a scale, scaled, or digital CS model is strongly preferred Experience designing or significantly improving customer-facing processes or playbooks Strong comfort with high-volume, queue-based work and frequent context-switching Excellent written communication skills, clear, efficient, and adaptable across customer segments Judgment to distinguish between what fits the playbook, what needs creativity, and what needs escalation Solid security domain fluency: MDR, EDR, SIEM, NDR, cloud security, and how a real security program fits together Familiarity with CS platforms, ticketing systems, and automation tools, with opinions about what works Additional notes The base salary range for this role is between $93,900 and $136,200 + bonus eligibility and equity. We believe in paying transparently and equitably. Your salary will ultimately be based on factors such as your experience, skills, team equity, and market data. You'll also be eligible for unlimited PTO (which we model and encourage), work location flexibility, up to 24 weeks of parental leave, and really excellent health benefits. We're only hiring those authorized to work in the United States. We're an Equal Opportunity Employer: You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or on the basis of disability. We'll ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform crucial job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please let us know if you need accommodation of any kind. #LI-Remote Salary Range $93,900 — $136,200 USD To apply: https://weworkremotely.com/remote-jobs/expel-customer-success-manager-scale

If you want meaningful work, visible impact and put something genuinely rare on your CV, keep reading. About the role: As a Senior Software Engineer on Camunda's new Data Streaming team, you'll help build a foundational new piece of architecture that changes how customers and internal products access process data. Today, customers have no first-class way to stream their own process data out of Camunda, and Camunda's own analytics product is bottlenecked by querying the same storage the live engine depends on. You'll be part of a greenfield team rebuilding how process data is consumed and served at scale, built on top of a durable, continuously-written streaming layer that decouples data consumption from the live engine. You'll be part of a small team from day one, with real room to shape both the architecture and the team's scope as it matures. At Camunda, we approach engineering in a holistic manner. As such, you will form strong partnerships with product management, the Data Layer and Distributed Systems teams, QA, and support, and work closely with your peers to not only deliver but directly influence how our data streaming architecture evolves to meet our customers' needs. What You Will Do: Help rebuild how Camunda's analytics product consumes and serves process data at scale, moving it off the engine's critical path entirely. Design and build the core streaming infrastructure that decouples process data access from the live execution engine, backed by durable, object storage. Build customer-facing data streaming capabilities, including a supported way to integrate with systems like Kafka, so customers can reliably get their process data into their own tools. Make foundational architecture decisions as part of a small, high-ownership team, including how the system guarantees consistency and durability across a distributed streaming pipeline. Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations, partnering with Support and SRE to investigate data layer production issues, and feeding what you learn back into the product. What You Will Bring to the Role: Must Haves: 7+ years of experience as a backend engineer, in Java, with a strong focus on distributed or data-intensive systems. Hands-on experience building or operating an analytical serving layer over a table format such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake - including experience with an embedded/lightweight query engine (e.g. DuckDB, or similar), or a stateful stream-processing framework (e.g. Flink, Kafka Streams). A track record of working with object storage systems (S3/GCS/Azure or similar) and building reliable, idempotent upload/commit protocols against them. Solid grounding in the reasoning behind correctness and consistency in data-intensive systems (e.g. concurrent writes, atomicity, idempotency). A demonstrated track record of driving a technical initiative through genuine ambiguity in a still-being-designed system, not just extending an established one. Proven experience leading medium-to-large engineering initiatives (3+ months) end-to-end, from solution design, project planning, and coordinating across teams, right through to driving predictable delivery. Strong communication and collaboration skills in a remote-first environment: you translate requirements into actionable technical work with Product, and give and receive clear, direct feedback in code review. Nice to Haves: Experience with Kafka or a similar streaming/event-log system Experience with embedded state stores (RocksDB or similar) for projection/checkpointing workloads. Experience with stream processing frameworks (e.g. Apache Flink), particularly stateful processing with local state backends and checkpointing. Familiarity with object-storage-native streaming architectures (e.g. systems like WarpStream) is a plus, even without direct hands-on experience. If you want meaningful work, visible impact and put something genuinely rare on your CV, keep reading. About the Role: Camunda's Revenue Operations organization is looking for a Senior GTM Systems AI and Automation Engineer to design, build and operate the AI-powered infrastructure that connects our go-to-market systems and removes manual work across Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Partnerships and Account Development. You will join the GTM Systems team – a small group of builders who own a Salesforce-centric revenue stack – and take ownership of its AI and automation layer: agents, LLM integrations, MCP servers, retrieval pipelines, backend services and workflow orchestration. You will partner with GTM leaders to find high-impact problems, scope them, and ship reliable, well-governed solutions iteratively. This is a fully remote role and can be based anywhere we are eligible to hire. What You Will Do: Design, build and operate AI agents, LLM integrations and automations that connect Salesforce, Gainsight, Slack, Salesloft, Clari, HubSpot, Impartner and the rest of the GTM stack – reducing manual work across Sales, CS, Marketing, Partners and ADR teams. Own the architecture of the GTM Systems AI layer: MCP servers, APIs, retrieval and context pipelines, reusable agent tools and skills, and serverless or containerized services on Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions). Ship production-grade LLM capabilities – prompt engineering, RAG, function calling, structured outputs, automated evaluations – with the guardrails to match: validation, fallback logic, confidence thresholds, human escalation paths, access controls, audit logging, and cost and latency management. Partner with Revenue Operations, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Partnerships and SDR/ADR leaders to identify and prioritize automation opportunities, translate ambiguous requirements into maintainable solutions, and deliver incrementally with clear documentation. Raise the engineering bar for the GTM Systems team: code review, automated testing, CI/CD, security governance, observability and technical documentation; mentor teammates on responsible AI-assisted development. Design and deploy workflows on orchestration platforms such as Camunda and Clay, and create playbooks and enablement so GTM teams can use and operate automations independently. What You Will Bring to the Role: Must Haves: 5+ years of software engineering experience (backend development, systems integration, data or analytics engineering, or automation), including at least 2 years shipping LLM or AI capabilities into production business workflows or internal tools. Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js), with mature Git-based development habits: code review, automated testing, CI/CD. Hands-on command of LLM patterns – prompt engineering, RAG, function/tool calling, structured outputs, model evaluation – and of their failure modes and mitigations (validation, fallback logic, confidence thresholds, human review, cost and latency control). Experience integrating with Salesforce (REST/Bulk/Streaming APIs, data model, platform limits; Apex or Flow a plus) and other business systems via APIs and event-driven patterns, and with a cloud platform (GCP preferred: BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, IAM). Ability to own a problem end-to-end with minimal guidance – scope, design, deliver, operate – and to communicate clearly with engineering and business stakeholders in a remote, asynchronous environment. Nice to Haves: Experience with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar standards for connecting AI systems to tools and data; agent frameworks; vector databases or retrieval pipelines (pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate, ChromaDB). Exposure to AI observability and evaluation tooling (LangSmith, Weights & Biases, or custom eval frameworks). Familiarity with orchestration platforms such as Camunda or Clay, and prior work in Revenue Operations, GTM Systems, Sales Operations or Marketing Operations in B2B SaaS. Building lightweight interfaces for AI tools (React, Slack Block Kit, dashboards); Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer I/II, Integration Architect).
