ABOUT BEAMERY With the rapid expansion of AI and automation, the future of work has never been more challenging for organizations. Beamery's unique jobs, skills and tasks data platform helps organizations navigate these challenges and make more informed decisions across Talent Lifecycle Management. Our solutions power recruitment, mobility, upskilling, diversity, work architecture and workforce planning for some of the world's most forward-thinking companies. We believe that where you work is much more than just a job. Millions of people are being left behind every day in their careers, and we're on a mission to fix this by creating equal access to meaningful work, skills and careers for all. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a representative Beamery, creating an equitable, inclusive and engaging environment for our people. So, what are you waiting for? Join us and help us transform the future of work once and for all. What's ahead — and why it's an exciting time to join the team: Building agentic AI with advanced orchestration (multi-agent workflows, tool use, evaluation loops) that turns complex talent data into decisions. Training and fine-tuning our own models on unique data about jobs, skills and tasks, and benchmarking them against the best in our market. Joining an award-winning AI team (ACM RecSys Challenge 2026) that turns new ideas into innovative solutions with scientific rigour. Sharing our work and learning from industry peers through challenges, conferences and publications. But it's not all about creating high-quality products, we also very much value the company culture we have worked hard to create; built on trust, empathy & honesty ensuring our workforce is able to bring their full selves to work. About the Team The Data Science team builds the AI models behind Beamery's Data Foundry, the common data and AI layer powering all Beamery products, and works hand in hand with the product teams to empower their features with AI (such as Talent Match and recommendations). At the heart of our work is the Beamery taxonomy, the language of work (skills, role titles and tasks) that every Beamery product speaks, built on more than a decade of research and kept current by the Taxonomist, our agentic system, so it reflects the real pulse of the job market. We combine LLMs, Transformers and embedding models with classic machine learning, always choosing the best balance between quality, latency and cost. We see ourselves as pioneers in AI for HR Tech: in 2026 the team finished 1st in the industry track and 2nd overall out of 40 teams at the ACM RecSys Challenge. About the Role You will join the team as a Senior Data Scientist and own our matching, recommendation and taxonomy mapping models, working closely with the product engineering teams that bring them to our customers. You will be responsible for the full cycle of your work, from defining how quality is measured and designing the models to running robust scientific experiments, tracking technical and business metrics, and writing and reviewing code. You will also advise the product teams on how to implement AI features with an evaluation-first mindset, and keep pushing the boundaries of Beamery's AI. Key Responsibilities Build, improve and own our matching and recommendation models (e.g. candidate to job matching, internal mobility recommendations etc.). Apply an evaluation-first mindset: build golden datasets from real recruiter and user decisions, define quality metrics, design and run robust scientific experiments, track and report both technical and business metrics (using LLM-as-a-judge and human feedback), and communicate results and metrics clearly to the product teams. Write clean and tested Python code using AI coding agents (such as Claude Code or Codex), and review code with care, both from your peers and from AI agents, so the team's codebase stays consistent, readable and safe. Follow recent research (e.g. LLMs, embeddings, recommender systems, explainability, model evaluation) and bring the most relevant ideas into our product roadmap. Document your work and present it clearly to product, engineering and business stakeholders, and contribute to the team's research visibility (such as challenges, conferences and publications). Required Skills and Experience A minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a Data Scientist, Senior Data Scientist (or a similar role) in an AI startup or an AI team, with a dynamic environment and a variety of use cases. Strong experience with recommender systems, search, ranking or matching (e.g. learning-to-rank, scoring models, Gradient Boosting Trees, embedding models). Fluency in evaluation: designing datasets and quality metrics (such as AUC, NDCG, precision and recall), and using LLM-as-a-judge and human feedback. A strong foundation in NLP and GenAI, including Transformers, LLMs and embedding models (training or fine-tuning them is a strong plus). High-quality software development skills in Python (clean design, testing, packaging, maintainable code etc.), practical knowledge of CI/CD, and hands-on experience with agentic coding, with the judgement to know when AI-generated code is right or wrong. The ability to simplify complex problems, to work with ambiguity, and to collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product managers and business stakeholders. A Master's degree or PhD, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field. Nice to Have Experience with explainable or conversational recommendations. Experience in HR Tech, talent acquisition or workforce data. Publications, open-source contributions or strong results in ML challenges (e.g. RecSys, Kaggle). What We Offer The chance to own core AI models that are used by some of the world's most forward-thinking organisations. A team that publishes, competes and is recognised in the research community, while shipping real products. Work with the latest AI technologies and tools, including AI coding agents as part of the daily workflow. Close collaboration with experienced data scientists, QA, platform and product engineers. At this time, we are unable to provide Visa sponsorship for this role. Beamery is for Everybody. Diversity and open expression are fundamental to us. We acknowledge the challenges in our industry and strive to develop an inclusive culture where everybody can contribute. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of ethnicity, religion, color, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, national origin, age, disability status, or caregiver status. Few people get to build a bank from scratch. Even fewer get to build one at a moment when banking itself is being reinvented. The Dollar is the best product in the history of the world - there is infinite global demand. But International Fintechs and non-US banks are left with two unsatisfying options to access it: Either they build on legacy clearing banks that are slow and unreliable, or they interface with middleware providers that don't move and hold the dollars directly, but themselves rely on underlying legacy banks. Augustus collapses this stack by combining two things: A real, national bank charter (in organization), and Marble, our proprietary core banking system, built around intelligence, made of code. We are a group of operators, unicorn early employees, ex-founders and people who walked away from degrees because they believe this is an industry and career defining opportunity. We are backed with more than $200M from Peter Thiel's Valar Ventures, Tiger Global, Hummingbird, QED, Creandum, and the founders of Nubank, Ramp, Deel, Circle, Fluidstack, Fuse, and n8n. We are regulated in Europe and live with Euro and Stablecoin clearing today. Now, we are building the US team from the ground up, while continuing to grow rapidly in Europe. The Role You own Banking Experience: the accounts at the center of customer's relationship with the bank, and the API and dashboards they use to manage them. In this role you're responsible for redefining what beautiful software in banking looks like. You'll define account structures that give customers powerful building blocks for their products, and craft intuitive interfaces grounded in a deep understanding of their use cases and workflows. You report to Will, Head of Product, and work closely with Simon, our CTO. You're expected to operate with full autonomy on your team's roadmap, collaborating with design and engineering. Your First Six Months Months 1-2: Take over day-to-day ownership of the Banking Experience team - the roadmap, the ways of working, the hard decisions. Establish yourself with customers and how they use our accounts. You define and ship your first project. Months 3-4: Execution mode. You're unblocking engineering daily, making hard prioritization calls, and shipping your roadmap to customers. You're proactively raising the bar across accounts, API, and dashboard by feeding what you learn from customers into the product. Months 5-6: You're working with live customers on the products you've built. Deposits and number of account holders are scaling. You've moved from execution to platform mode - evolving the roadmap based on what our customers are building on top of Augustus. Who Will Thrive At Augustus We believe that throwing smart people with high agency at big problems produces the best outcomes. We're building a modern correspondent bank, and we win by having a better team. The people who succeed here share the following traits: American Dream: You'd rather shoot for gold than settle for mediocrity. You pick the harder goal and stay optimistic when the odds are against you. If it feels easy, we aimed too low. Live Player: You don't need permission. You rebuild what's broken without being asked, challenge how things are done, and move before the perfect moment. Ever to Excel: You can't accept good enough and you take your work personally. When it matters, you do what it takes and keep raising the bar for yourself and your team. Genuine: You play for the company, not your title or turf. Low ego, low drama, no politics. You say it straight, also upwards and always assume good intent. This role is for you if: You want to spend time with customers to intimately understand and then innovate on their workflows. You're a structured and relentless problem solver. You combine first-principles thinking with deep domain knowledge to make complex processes simple. You have taste and care deeply about the quality of what you build. You leverage AI to push the boundaries of what a PM can do. You're excited about building a programmable bank and helping shape what that means. Hard Requirements Experience end-to-end owning and building banking, fintech, or developer platform products. Technical enough to spar on architectural decisions with engineers - you're comfortable in API design discussions, not just UI reviews. You have experience with control planes, dashboards, or console products at infrastructure, finance, or developer tools companies. You have strong opinions on information architecture and how to organize complex products so they feel simple Comfortable in customer-facing roles - you've pitched, demoed, and closed early adopters yourself. Based in New York or Berlin, or willing to relocate. Pay transparency Compensation packages at Augustus include base salary, equity, and benefits. New hire offers are made based on a candidate's experience, expertise and geographic location. The annual US base salary range for this role is $180,000-$230,000 + equity. What We Offer Career Growth: You will be given more responsibility and pushed to grow faster than ever before. Network: Your peers are brilliant, highly motivated people. These people will be foundational in your future opportunities. Real Participation: Employees are shareholders. You will think and act like an owner. Perks & Benefits: Relocation support, visa support, the latest Apple gear (MacBook + AirPods), lunch benefit, gym benefit, a beautiful office in the heart of the city, 4x on-/offsites per year, and an annual development budget. Additional to the global benefits above, we offer localized benefits such as comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan for our US team. Augustus is committed to creating an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds can thrive and where different viewpoints and experiences are valued and respected. Augustus will consider all applications for employment without regard to race, ethnicity, national origin, religious beliefs, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, disability, age, parental or veteran status. Virtusan is a Swiss based health coaching platform for sleep, stress and recovery that works with any wearable, including our own smart ring. We're hiring our first AI Tech Lead to build the intelligence behind our coach: turning biometric and behavioural signals into personalised programmes that help people sleep better and stress less. You'll be the technical authority for AI across engineering; you make the calls on architecture and approach, set the standards others build to and stay hand-on in the code. What you'll be doing 1) Signal interpretation: Turn wearable and in-app data into recovery, stress and sleep insights, using personal baselines and trend detection. 2) Multi-device data: Normalise metrics across vendors, weight sources by reliability, and handle missing data and device switches. 3) Recommendation engine: Personalise protocol sequences by dose and timing with classical ML (e.g. contextual bandits, sequential recommenders or RL). 4) Feedback loops: Learn from real user behaviour and biometric responses which protocols work, and for whom. 5) Evaluation: Offline metrics, online experiments and production monitoring for every model and LLM feature. 6) AI platform: Own the roadmap, training and serving pipelines, data quality and architecture on our Python and Azure stack. 7) Technical leadership: Make and own the key architecture and modelling decisions, and write them down (RFCs, ADRs etc.) so the team can build them. 8) Privacy: Make secure handling of sensitive health data part of the design from the start. 9) Collaboration: Help product, design and marketing shape AI features and understand what the models can and can't do. Hands on: This is a builder role. You'll be prototyping, evaluating and taking code through to production. Requirements 6+ years in ML/AI engineering incl. 2+ years in a lead role, with at least one product taken from zero to production Python, FastAPI and production MLOps on Azure or another major cloud Time series, recommender systems, causal/uplift methods and strong statistics A/B testing, model evaluation and production monitoring LLMs and LangGraph (or similar) on Azure OpenAI, and knowing when not to use them Experience as a tech lead or staff engineer, making technical decisions that a team of engineers followed. Privacy-aware handling of health data Based in Europe and fluent in English Nice to have: bandits, RL or off-policy evaluation; health or wearable data; literature mining; AI in engineering workflows (coding agents, AI-assisted testing, CI). Application process Instead of a cover letter, please send us the answers to 2 of the following 3 questions together with your CV. 1) Tell us about an ML product you took from zero to production. What did you own, and what changed because of it? 2) You have a recommendation engine and want to know whether a protocol actually improves users' sleep. How would you measure that? 3) Tell us about a technical decision you made for a team that others disagreed with. How did you get alignment, and how did it turn out? Job Description: This is a critical-delivery role responsible for engineering and operating vendor applications end to end within an on-premises OpenShift platform, directly supporting the enterprise's AI monitoring, controls, and governance commitments. You will develop and integrate application components, deploy and scale containerized services, and provide the production support that keeps these services reliable, performant, and audit-ready. The domain is AI Agent operations. The applications you support deliver guardrails and observability for LLM powered systems across the enterprise, enabling the model observability, traceability, and evaluation needed to meet risk management, compliance, and regulatory expectations. Because this capability underpins key delivery milestones, the role demands strong engineering discipline, sound operational judgment, and a sense of urgency. The ideal engineer learns new tools and environments quickly, brings a pragmatic build-and-operate mindset, and can lead cross-functional initiatives without formal authority. Responsibilities: Own delivery of critical vendor applications from build through production support in a fully on-premises OpenShift environment, meeting committed milestones and quality expectations. Build and maintain APIs and integrations connecting vendor guardrail and observability platforms to enterprise AI Agent solutions. Establish and manage workflows that monitor performance, safety, latency, throughput, quality, and guardrail effectiveness in support of AI risk and control objectives. Implement and maintain model evaluation frameworks using LLM-as-a-Judge and specialized language models. Develop observability dashboards and alerting using Grafana or similar tools, producing audit-friendly evidence and traceability. Troubleshoot production issues and improve scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency to sustain availability for critical business services. Contribute to evaluation methodologies and guardrail controls for agentic and multi-step AI systems. Lead and mentor engineers, establish development standards, and drive process improvements across cross-functional delivery. Provide input into financial planning, budget tracking, forecasting, and management of supported applications and services. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, MIS, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 13+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, and scaling production applications. Strong proficiency in Python, including common data and ML libraries. Hands-on experience deploying and operating containerized workloads on OpenShift or Kubernetes. Proven experience taking LLM- or RAG-based applications into production and maintaining them at scale. Experience building APIs and integrating third-party platforms. Working experience with AI Agents development, including OpenAI APIs and LangChain. Practical understanding of inference performance optimization. Experience applying guardrails, observability, and model-based evaluation to AI applications. Experience delivering within Agile and Agile-at-scale environments against firm timelines. Proven ability to influence outcomes and meet delivery commitments in a matrixed organization without direct authority. Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Desired Qualifications: Experience delivering technology solutions within a large, complex, highly regulated enterprise, preferably financial services. Fast learner able to ramp quickly on new technologies and tools. Experience with annotation pipelines, feedback loops, fine-tuning, and model alignment techniques. Familiarity with prompt versioning and lifecycle management. Experience with vendor-provided guardrail and observability platforms such as Galileo, LangSmith, and Splunk. Working knowledge of additional AI Agents frameworks such as LlamaIndex or Haystack. Familiarity with evaluation and guardrails for agentic, multi-step AI workflows. Collaborative and self-directed work style supporting engineering teams.
