Senior Business Development Manager – Public Sector
Full TimeFully RemoteLead
goagileprocurementforecastingcrmsales+8

Job description Team & Reporting Line: Our Mission At constellr, we use thermal intelligence from space to understand what is happening on Earth - where, when and at scale. Our satellite constellation delivers high-resolution land surface temperature data, giving governments, defence organisations, commercial operators and global institutions the intelligence they need to monitor change, assess risk and make better-informed decisions. From national security and critical infrastructure to agriculture and climate resilience, constellr turns temperature into actionable intelligence for a changing world. Your Role As our Senior Business Development Manager for the Public Sector, you will join the Commercial team and lead constellr's growth with civil government customers – environmental ministries, national and regional agencies, and European institutions – who need reliable, decision-grade thermal intelligence to manage water, agriculture, infrastructure and climate resilience. This is not a data-reselling role. You will sell data intelligence and analytics: understanding what public bodies are trying to achieve, shaping how our land surface temperature products and insights fit their mandates, and guiding them through funding cycles and formal procurement. You will work closely with our Product, Earth observation science and Solutions teams to translate remote sensing capability into solutions that answer real governmental needs, and alongside colleagues covering commercial, industrial and defence markets to build a coherent go-to-market across the business. You will own a strategic portfolio from first conversation to signed contract, including major upcoming national and EU tenders, and build on constellr's existing success in European programmes such as Copernicus. With the launch of the world's first commercial thermal infrared constellation, the relationships you build and the deals you win will define how governments use thermal data for years to come. Key responsibilities Public-Sector Growth: Own and grow constellr's civil public-sector business, developing a targeted pipeline across environmental ministries, national agencies, research-funded programmes and European institutions. Selling Data Intelligence: Lead value-based sales of thermal data, analytics and insight services, positioning solutions around customer outcomes rather than raw imagery. Tenders & Procurement: Identify , qualify and lead responses to public tenders and framework calls, working with procurement and tender teams and coordinating internal bid teams through to submission and negotiation. Funding Cycles & Programmes: Map national, EU and ESA funding cycles, programmes and budget timelines, and shape opportunities early so constellr is positioned well ahead of formal procurement. Proposal Management: Lead proposals for funded programmes, framework contracts and consortium bids – from opportunity strategy and partner selection through to compelling, compliant submissions. Stakeholder Engagement: Build trusted, senior relationships with decision-makers , technical users and procurement officers, speaking credibly to each audience. Science-to-Market: Act as the bridge between science and customers – partner with our scientists and product teams to translate remote sensing capabilities into clear use cases, pilots and solution proposals that meet governmental requirements. Commercial Leadership: Hold your ground in complex negotiations, protect deal value and represent constellr confidently in front of senior public officials. Partnerships & Ecosystem: Develop relationships with research institutes, system integrators and geospatial partners to access and win larger public programmes. Market Intelligence: Feed customer and market insight back into product, pricing and commercial strategy, and represent constellr at key conferences and public-sector events. Forecasting & Reporting: Maintain an accurate pipeline and forecast in our CRM and deliver against agreed commercial targets. Job requirements About you Required: Significant (typically 8+ years) experience in business development or sales of geospatial, Earth observation or data analytics solutions, with a strong track record selling to civil public-sector customers. Proven experience winning public tenders and navigating government procurement, funding cycles and budget processes. A solid understanding of remote sensing and how satellite-derived data and analytics are used to meet governmental needs. An advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in physics, geoscience, remote sensing or a related STEM field – or equivalent experience – giving you credibility with technical and scientific stakeholders. Strong proposal and bid management experience, ideally including EU, ESA or nationally funded programmes and consortium bids. Experience selling data intelligence, analytics or information services rather than hardware or raw data alone. The ability to bridge science and industry, with a senior, confident presence – able to stand your ground in negotiations and build credibility with ministry-level stakeholders. An established network across European public-sector, research or geospatial communities. Excellent communication skills in English and German. Willingness to travel regularly for customer meetings, public-sector events and industry conferences. Nice to Have : Experience selling into defence, security or dual-use programmes. A background in an applied research institute, geoscience or remote sensing environment. Exposure to security research, resilience or critical infrastructure programmes. Familiarity with European programmes such as Copernicus, ESA or EU-funded research and innovation calls. Experience in technology transfer, innovation management or strategic roles within public-sector or research organisations. Additional European languages, particularly French. Experience in a fast-growing New Space or scale-up company. Why join constellr? High-Impact National Security Mission: Be part of an ambitious mission to launch the world's first commercial thermal infrared constellation, delivering sovereign-grade "behavioural" intelligence from space to close critical blind spots for defence, intelligence, and maritime surveillance agencies. Fast-Paced "New Space" Innovation: Work at the leading edge of a rapidly evolving defence sector. By leveraging modern, agile New Space methodologies, you will help design, build, and deploy dual-use thermal payloads into operational orbit at a speed and scale that traditional aerospace models simply cannot match. Broad Interdisciplinary Exposure: Accelerate your professional growth by collaborating daily with a diverse, international cohort of astrophysicists, software developers, and defence-system engineers. Inclusive & Scientific Culture: Join a high-trust team deeply committed to diversity, inclusion, and scientific excellence, where academic curiosity is paired with high autonomy and a flat hierarchy. Financial Upside & Well-being: Benefit from a Virtual Share Option Plan (VSOP) for permanent employees, giving you a true stake in the company's growth, alongside highly flexible hybrid working models. Senior Full Stack Engineer
SaekiZurich, Germany16 days ago

SAEKI - Manufacturing at software speed Europe's defense industrial base cannot respond at the speed modern conflict requires. Legacy suppliers operate on month-long timelines. Tribal knowledge is retiring. Supply chains are fragile. SAEKI is building the operating system for autonomous factories — the infrastructure that lets Europe manufacture mission-critical components at software speed. Every part we make generates data, decisions, and handoffs. Your job is to capture that knowledge, automate the work around it, and remove whatever slows production down. When a critical defense program needs parts by next week, the systems you build are why we can deliver. The Role As a Full-Stack Software Engineer on our manufacturing intelligence team, you'll work wherever the leverage is highest. One week that means turning an operator's spreadsheet into a proper workflow; the next it means wiring machine data into scheduling, or cutting a manual quoting step out of the order flow. You'll own problems end to end across our customer portal, Enterprise Resource Planning / Manufacturing Execution System, and the data layer connecting them to the shop floor. Based at our HQ at "The Circle" (Zurich airport), your work will span: Manufacturing Intelligence: Capturing process, machine, and quality data so knowledge lives in systems instead of in people's heads. Automation: Replacing manual steps in quoting, planning, scheduling, and documentation with software that runs on its own. Production Acceleration: Finding the bottlenecks between CAD/CAM data submission and shipped parts. Tools for People: Building interfaces that make life easier for operators, engineers, and customers, whether that's a work instruction screen, a dashboard, or a self-service portal. Importantly, you do not need prior experience in the manufacturing domain. We value a high level of curiosity and autonomy to find and solve problems. What We're Looking For Experience: 3+ years as a software engineer with proven experience in shipping code to production, across backend and frontend Broad Technical Range: Experience in systems design, architecture and implementation. In general, you don't shy away from new technologies and pick up whatever the problem requires. Our current tech stack is: Rust, PostgreSQL, React, Python, AWS. End-to-End Ownership: From talking to the user, to schema, to API, to UI, to rollout. You don't hand off "the other half." Industrial Grit: Comfortable spending time on the shop floor in Germany to understand how work actually happens and how your software interacts with precision machinery. Autonomy: You are comfortable with diving into new topics, coming up with solutions and driving their implementation Bonus points: Knowledge of manufacturing and how factories operate, basic understanding of the Manufacturing Automation Pyramid On-site: Ability to work in person at our HQ in Zurich, Switzerland. What we're not looking for Engineers who only work on frontend or only work on backend. You must be comfortable across the full stack. People who need detailed specs before they start building. You'll work directly with users and define the solution yourself. Developers who ship code and move on. You own the outcome — not just the PR. E ngineers who are uncomfortable with ambiguity or rapidly changing priorities. What we offer Mission: Rebuild the industrial sovereignty of Europe . Your work directly enables the production of mission-critical hardware for defense and space Total Ownership: High-stakes autonomy in your domain. You own both the problems and the solutions, and have the authority to execute. The Environment: You are building solutions to accelerate production in a 5,000 m² state-of-the-art facility featuring 5-axis CNCs, industrial robots, and industrial plastic and metal 3D printers. Your work affects production of physical parts from day one. The Team: Growing team of experienced software engineers, who value an open feedback culture. You may (and are expected to) challenge the status quo, prior decisions and drive SAEKI's way forward. Compensation: Competitive salary + meaningful equity. Location: Zurich HQ with occasional travel to Factory ONE in Munich, Germany Apply Resume: Focus on systems you've built and owned. Find more English Speaking Jobs in Switzerland on Arbeitnow

Engineering Manager, Scientific Software
Full TimeOn-siteLead
pythonrcomputer visionrestagilegithub+7

Engineering Manager, Scientific Software (Senior Data Analyst Manager) Do you enjoy leading engineers who turn raw scientific data into software the rest of the business can rely on? We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Data Analysis team - so named for what the product delivers to customers, though the team itself is a software and algorithm engineering team - building the applications that turn raw atomic force microscope (AFM) scan data into the 3D measurements our customers depend on. This is a pivotal role combining hands-on technical leadership with people management - shaping our software strategy and driving delivery across a growing, cross-functional organisation. Our software runs inside semiconductor fabs and processes real 3D height-profile data captured at atomic scale, so this role suits someone who enjoys working at the forefront of technology on complex problems, scientific data, and software that must be robust, reliable, and trusted by customers. Reward and Benefits £70,000 – £80,000 (depending on experience) Death in service and private health care benefits, discretionary annual bonus scheme and a generous EMI Share scheme Annual salary review and the opportunity to work on genuinely innovative semiconductor technology About the role You'll lead the team that builds our image-analysis application: consolidating multiple data streams from the microscope, flattening and correcting scan images, recognising scanned features and measuring their height, and running statistical analysis across large sets of measurements. Because the software runs inside a fab with no internet access, the team owns the full picture - there's no cloud service to lean on, so the algorithms, the application, and the visualisation all must hold up entirely on their own. Team Leadership & Delivery Leading, mentoring and developing a team of scientific software engineers, enabling them to deliver high-quality, fault-tolerant software in a time-sensitive product environment Owning the team's software strategy, and shaping how the team works and how our image-processing algorithms, application architecture and tooling evolve Coaching team members through 1:1s, appraisals, hiring and career development Working with project leads to plan, track and report progress, and integrating the team's work into wider programme plans Managing technical debt pragmatically, balancing delivery speed against long-term maintainability Improving engineering processes so the team can keep getting better, drawing on Agile and Lean practices Technical Involvement Staying hands-on technically where capacity allows - reviewing code, unblocking algorithm and architecture decisions, and staying close to the data Working closely with the R&D team to translate good image processing methodology into quality product. Guiding decisions on image-processing approaches (flattening, feature recognition and masking, skew correction, height measurement etc.) and on the statistical analysis of measurement data Ensuring the application, its communication interface (over RabbitMQ) and its data visualisation are engineered to run reliably in an offline, on-premises fab environment with no cloud dependency Collaboration Collaborating closely with the Software Project Lead and R&D, Systems Engineering, Product and Applications teams to keep priorities aligned Managing external partners where they support delivery A note about AI: we're adopting agentic development with Claude, but our engineers retain full ownership and accountability of the code they ship - whether they wrote it or generated it. AI is a tool that amplifies engineering expertise, not a substitute for it. Who we are looking for To succeed as an Engineering Manager, Scientific Software, we do need you to bring: Experience leading and developing technical teams, including appraisals, career development and recruitment A strong, hands-on background in software development, ideally including image processing, computer vision or scientific data analysis Strong Python development skills with industry experience Practical experience using Agile and Lean methodologies Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and best practice Experience working with external partners or suppliers Project management experience Clear communication skills in English, and a collaborative, pragmatic, self-motivated approach 5+ years' experience in software development, and 5+ years' experience in technical leadership or people management Nice to have Experience developing software for processing and visualising 3D imaging or scientific data Background in metrology, microscopy, semiconductors or other complex engineering products Experience from another scientific or technical discipline, backed by strong software experience Experience using AI-assisted or agentic coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to improve development speed and quality in a professional setting A bit about us: Infinitesima is a privately owned company founded in 2001, as a spin-out of the University of Bristol, by CTO Professor Andrew Humphris. Our dynamic team of scientists and engineers is focussed on enabling the next generation of semiconductor devices through delivery of innovative products to customers around the world. Our strength lies in the varied perspectives that come from different cultures, experiences, and identities. We believe that true innovation is fuelled by collaboration, locally and globally. We strive to foster an environment where everyone can contribute meaningfully and thrive. If you require adjustments to take part in the recruitment process, please let us know, we'll do our best to support you. Your recruitment journey: We will interview you: Monday to Friday UK Time 9am to 4.30pm and we'll be as flexible as we can with Global Scheduling 1st stage: (45 minute) Remote meeting to evaluate your experience and technical ability 2nd stage: (2.5 hours) Face to face onsite evaluating technical, presentation and communication skills along with your ways of working and your opportunity to to know more about us If you're not comfortable with eye contact, let us know at the start of your interview and if REMOTE, once we've said hello, feel free to turn your camera off until the end. We dress casually so informal attire is absolutely fine for onsite interviews. We want you to feel comfortable when you meet us and if there's anything else we can do to support your journey, just let us know. A note on how we use AI: We use AI only to transcribe our interviews so we can focus fully on you instead of scribbling notes. The AI does not take part in any decision making at any stage. All hiring decisions are made by real humans based on the conversation we have with you. Location and working pattern: We offer flexible, hybrid working from day one, where possible. During your first three months with us, we ask for 4 days per week on site here at Abingdon, with 1 day remote. After probation, this typically settles to around a 3:2 split between office and remote working. Recruitment agencies: Infinitesima Ltd only works with approved agencies and does not accept unsolicited agency CVs. Please do not submit candidate details in response to this advert or solicit any Infinitesima Ltd employees. Infinitesima Ltd is not responsible for any fees related to unsolicited CVs.
