Software Engineer, Inference
Full TimeOn-siteMid
pythons3dockerkubernetesci/cdredis+7

You'll own how Luma's models get served — integrating new architectures into the inference engine, scaling deployments across thousands of machines, and keeping expensive GPU fleets busy while meeting internal SLOs. This is large-scale inference systems work: scheduling, fleet management, deployment pipelines, and reliability across clusters and hardware providers. It fits a strong systems engineer comfortable with model serving and Kubernetes at scale. If you want pure modeling rather than the systems that run models, this is firmly the systems side. What You'll Own Ship new model architectures by integrating them into the inference engine. Collaborate across research, engineering, and infrastructure to optimize model efficiency and deployments. Build internal tooling to measure, profile, and track the lifetime of inference jobs and workflows. Automate, test, and maintain inference services for maximum uptime and reliability. Manage and optimize inference workloads across clusters and hardware providers, and scale deployments across thousands of machines. Build scheduling systems that use expensive GPU resources optimally while meeting SLOs, and maintain CI/CD for model checkpoints and SDKs. First 90 Days One way the first 90 could unfold. Days 1–30 — Immerse & Diagnose: Learn the inference stack, the fleets, and where reliability or utilization break. Days 30–60 — Ship & Validate: Integrate a model or ship tooling/scheduling that improves uptime or GPU utilization. Days 60–90 — Scale & Systemize: Harden deployment pipelines and scheduling across clusters and providers. What You Bring Strong Python and system-architecture skills. Experience deploying models with PyTorch, Hugging Face, vLLM, SGLang, TensorRT-LLM, or similar. Experience with queues, scheduling, traffic control, and fleet management at scale. Experience with Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes, and with orchestration, deployment, and scheduling. Familiarity with Redis and S3-compatible storage. Nice to Have Modern networking stacks including RDMA (RoCE, InfiniBand, NVLink). High-performance large-scale ML systems (100+ GPUs). CUDA, and FFmpeg or multimedia processing. About Luma: Luma's mission is to build unified general intelligence that can generate, understand, and operate in the physical world. We believe multimodality is critical for intelligence — the next step beyond language models comes from vision. Luma is an equal opportunity employer. Find Jobs in United Kingdom on Arbeitnow

Our Global Structure Deliveroo is now part of DoorDash, bringing together teams with even greater reach, scale, and ambition. Depending on your role, you may collaborate with teammates, systems, and leaders across DoorDash and Wolt. Together, we're unlocking new possibilities as one global team. About the Team At DoorDash we're building the industry's most scalable and reliable delivery network to support our three-sided marketplace of consumers, merchants, and dashers. TPMs on our Engineering teams provide fundamental support to the underlying technology services as well as the engineers building these services. It's no simple task, but it wouldn't be interesting if it was! About the Role Money is DoorDash's organisation responsible for the financial products and infrastructure that enable transactions across DoorDash, Wolt and Deliveroo. The domain owns how consumers pay, how merchants and couriers are paid, and how money is recorded, reconciled and reported, covering payment processing, payment methods, payouts, invoicing, financial ledgers and regulatory compliance. We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to help scale Money Domain. You will lead important engineering wide initiatives across Invoicing Platform, Payment Instruments, amongst others; working with Engineering, Product, Operations, and business leaders to deliver dependable, scalable Money capabilities for the business. Programs will span backend services, partner and merchant integrations, and regulatory / compliance products. They require strong technical judgment, cross organisational coordination, stakeholder management, and ownership of results. You will report into the centralised global Technical Program Management team in Engineering, through a manager based in London. This is a hybrid role based in our London office in Cannon Street. You're excited about this opportunity because you will… Drive Money Domain's Most Strategic Programs - You will partner closely with Engineering and Product leadership, Strategy & Operations, and cross-functional teams to turn Money Domain's strategy into executable technical programs. Lead Complex Cross-Organization Execution — Money Domain interacts with capabilities across consumer, merchant, courier, order and enterprise domains, payment processing, payouts, fraud and risk, regulatory compliance, accounting, financial data and platform infrastructure. You will establish clear ownership and milestones, surface critical dependencies and tradeoffs, and drive alignment across teams when the path forward is not obvious. Bring Technical Depth and Systems Thinking - You will develop a deep understanding of the architecture, integrations, data flows, and operational systems behind Money Domain (Financial Systems). You will engage in technical designs, identify scaling and reliability risks, understand how decisions in one part of the system affect end-to-end consumer, rider/ courier, and merchant experiences, and help teams make pragmatic tradeoffs. Turn Ambiguity into Strategy and Action - Many of our hardest problems do not begin with a clean scope or a single owner. You will truth-seek across technical and business inputs, frame the problem, clarify the definition of success, develop a point of view on risks and options, and create an execution path that teams and leaders can align behind. Connect Engineering Execution to Business Outcomes - You will understand the merchant, partner, customer, and economic outcomes behind the work and use that context to guide prioritization and execution. We're excited about you because… You're experienced in working with engineering teams on large-scale distributed systems and/or b2b products. You can speak to system architecture, scalability and reliability decisions, and design trade offs. You're a strong leader with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across organizations, bridge gaps between teams, and successfully influence without authority. You have strong ownership, urgency, and drive. You are willing to roll up your sleeves and dive into the details to understand and drive your programs. You have excellent written & verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with confidence, clarity, and focus. You can convey concepts and considerations to non-experts and experts alike. You've engaged with Engineering teams on product & platform development with a thorough understanding of software development processes and project planning. You are pragmatic and detailed in your approach and focus on progress, not perfection. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree with experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline. 5+ years recent experience as a Technical Programme Manager at a technology/ FinTech company, in Financial Systems. Experience with regulatory compliance in Financial Systems, e.g. SOX, PSD2, or equivalent would be an advantage. Experience in large-scale distributed systems and system architecture. Experience working directly with engineering teams on product development, with a thorough understanding of software development processes, system architecture, and scalability trade-offs. Project planning and execution skills that include reviewing technical design documents, estimating, and scheduling. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion At Deliveroo, we know that a great workplace reflects the world around us and that true diversity and inclusion make us stronger, more creative, and better at what we do. We're committed to fostering an environment where everyone can do their best work and feel they belong. We believe in equality of opportunity and welcome candidates from all backgrounds regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion, or belief. If you have a disability or long-term health condition and need support to apply for one of our roles, or require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, you'll have the opportunity to let us know once you've submitted your application. We'll share details on how to request support so we can ensure you have a fair and equitable experience. Full TimeOn-siteSenior
pythonmachine learningpytorchmental healthmanufacturingarchitecture+2

Our Mission Aleph Alpha is one of the few companies in Europe doing serious foundation model pre-training. Our customers — in finance, manufacturing, and public administration — need models that understand German, meet European regulatory requirements, and work reliably in high-stakes settings. We're building that in Heidelberg. We are hiring a Senior AI Researcher to join our Pre-training team and to advance the architecture and training of our next generation of foundation models. If you are excited about designing inference-efficient architectures, optimising training recipes that scale reliably, and training models on a large scale cluster (thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs), we would love to hear from you. Team Culture We foster a culture built on ownership, autonomy, and empowerment. Teams and individual contributors are trusted to take responsibility for their work and drive meaningful impact. We maintain a flat organisational structure with efficient, supportive management that enables quick decision-making, open communication, and a strong sense of shared purpose. We collaborate closely on complex technical problems, working in pairs or using mob programming to resolve challenging issues. About the Role As a Senior AI Researcher in Pre-training (f/m/d) , you will own the critical technical levers that determine the success of our next-generation models: architecture, optimization, stability, and scaling. Working at the high-leverage intersection of research and engineering, you will translate mathematical reasoning and empirical observations into principled training decisions - from small-scale proxy experiments to multi-thousand-GPU runs. We are looking for an expert who can combine rigorous experimental design with high-quality production code, directly influencing model quality, run reliability, and the efficiency of the models we ship. Your Responsibilities Recipe & Architecture Optimization: Own core elements of the training recipe (optimizers, schedules, initialization) and design PyTorch-based architectural improvements to maximize convergence, stability, and training efficiency. Scaling Strategy & Predictability: Develop hyperparameter scaling laws and scale-up methodologies, using small-scale proxy experiments to reliably predict multi-thousand-GPU behavior and de-risk major training decisions. Stability, Diagnostics & Debugging: Investigate complex convergence issues (loss spikes, divergence) and resolve hard-to-reproduce distributed system failures like communication bottlenecks, race conditions, and synchronization errors. System-Model Co-Design: Partner with Compute Performance, Data, Evaluation, and Post-Training teams to align the model lifecycle with hardware constraints, memory bandwidth, and communication topologies. Core Qualifications You are proficient in Python and deeply familiar with PyTorch-based training workflows. You have a strong track record in machine learning research and software engineering, demonstrated through shipped models, impactful open-source contributions, or published research. You have a strong mathematical foundation and are comfortable reasoning formally about optimisation, scaling behaviour, and training dynamics. You deeply understand transformer training dynamics, optimisation, and the behaviour of large distributed training jobs. You can design rigorous experiments, reason clearly from noisy results, and translate empirical observations into robust training decisions. Hands-on experience pre-training large models (e.g., 7B+ parameters) on substantial infrastructure (e.g., 100+ GPU clusters). You apply strong software engineering practices, including writing maintainable, well-tested code and supporting reproducible experimentation workflows. You are able to implement complex model architectures efficiently and reliably and to debug complex issues across model code, training dynamics, and distributed systems. You collaborate effectively within a research and engineering team and communicate clearly about your work across Pre-training and the broader AAR/AA organization. You are able to work in Germany and collaborate regularly on site in Heidelberg as part of the Pre-training team. Preferred Qualifications Large-Scale Training: Hands-on experience training LLMs or multimodal models on large GPU clusters using distributed frameworks (e.g., Megatron-LM, DeepSpeed, torchtitan). Predictive Scaling: Familiarity with scaling laws, hyperparameter transfer, or methods for predicting large-scale training behavior from smaller proxy runs. Stability & Performance: Experience profiling distributed jobs and diagnosing training anomalies like loss spikes, numerical instability, or optimizer pathologies. Advanced Architectures: Exposure to sparse training approaches (e.g., Mixture-of-Experts) and an understanding of their routing and systems trade-offs. Track Record of Impact: Demonstrated research excellence through top-tier publications (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR), impactful open-source contributions, or significant shipped technical work. Systems Curiosity: Low-level kernel optimization is not required, but we highly value a strong curiosity about the hardware and systems constraints that shape scale. What we offer Become part of an AI revolution! 30 days of paid vacation Access to a variety of fitness & wellness offerings via Wellhub Mental health support through nilo.health Substantially subsidized company pension plan for your future security Subsidized Germany-wide transportation ticket Budget for additional technical equipment Flexible working hours for better work-life balance and hybrid working model JobRad® Bike Lease Find more English Speaking Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow
