About the Role Imagine pioneering the mathematical and logical foundations that enable AI to fly safely in real-world, safety-critical aviation. As a Machine Learning Certification Researcher, you will address one of the most fundamental challenges in modern AI: proving that ML models are safe, reliable, and mathematically sound for deployment in autonomous flight. Your work will bridge the gap between cutting-edge statistical learning theory and formal aviation certification frameworks, building upon previous work (EASA CoDANN I and II, and FAA report DOT/FAA/TC-21/48), and putting real-world systems to the test. At Destinus, we are shaping the future of defense through high-speed, autonomous flight technologies. We develop next-generation unmanned aerial systems that deliver greater speed, precision, and efficiency, supporting governments and defense organizations in mission-critical operations worldwide. Daedalean AG, the AI and autonomy hub of the Destinus Group, plays a key role in this vision—developing safety-critical AI systems at the intersection of advanced research and real-world aviation. Enabling machines to perceive, understand, and make decisions in real time, we combine aerospace engineering and artificial intelligence to build the next generation of autonomous flight systems, driving innovation where it matters most. What You'll Do • AI Certification Strategy: Analyze our existing AI certification strategy and help adapt it—or pioneer entirely new strategies—to certify different supervised ML. • EASA Framework Alignment: Connect mathematical guarantees, technical arguments, and model evaluations to the EASA W-shaped process for AI certification in aviation, ensuring our research aligns with the latest regulatory guidelines. • Theoretical Foundation & Modeling: Conduct research into statistical learning theory, generalization bounds, and mathematical guarantees for deep neural networks operating under dynamic real-world conditions. • Uncertainty Quantification: Apply statistics and stochastic processes to model environmental uncertainties and sensor noise, and to quantify confidence in performance metrics. • Literature & Proof Evaluation: Critically evaluate academic literature, mathematical proofs, and engineering assumptions with peer-review rigor to identify safety limitations and theoretical gaps in state-of-the-art AI. • Regulatory & Audit Justification: Construct robust, logical arguments and technical justifications that translate complex, high-dimensional empirical data into structured evidence for safety audits and certification frameworks. • Algorithmic Validation: Write clean, reproducible code in Python to test theoretical hypotheses, validate certification mechanisms, and benchmark model safety frameworks. Requirements What You'll Need Machine Learning Theory & Mathematics • ML Theory & Statistical Learning: Deep understanding of statistical learning theory, generalization bounds, and the mathematical foundations of deep neural networks. • Statistics & Stochastic Processes: Strong background in advanced probability, statistical modeling, and stochastic processes. • Python Engineering: Proficiency in Python with the ability to write clean, reproducible code (can also be learned on the job provided strong theoretical foundations and basic Python coding). Research Rigor • Scientific Research Methodology: Demonstrated capability or background in conducting comprehensive literature reviews, identifying gaps in current state-ofthe-art AI, and synthesizing complex academic concepts into actionable engineering frameworks (can also be learned on the job if you possess a strong quantitative baseline). • Peer Review Expertise: Ability or experience in the peer-review process—capable of critically evaluating mathematical proofs, algorithmic assumptions, and research papers to assess their validity and limitations. Education • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Theoretical Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative research field. Who You Are • Critical Thinking & Healthy Skepticism: You possess a strong spirit of questioning everything. You naturally challenge conventional ML assumptions, probe for hidden edge cases, and refuse to take empirical accuracy at face value without rigorous proof. • Logical Argument Building: You have an exceptional ability to construct robust, airtight logical arguments and technical justifications. You can translate complex empirical observations into structured, defensible evidence that satisfies strict engineering and regulatory scrutiny. • Thrives in Ambiguity: You are motivated by hard, unsolved mathematical problems at the intersection of theoretical computer science, safety engineering, and real-world flight operations Find more English Speaking Jobs in Switzerland on Arbeitnow
Batch Robotics is revolutionizing how robots operate in factories — not through rigid programming or teaching by human demonstration, but with smart perception and AI intelligence. We are a team of 4 motivated people with +25 years of experience in industry and robotics. Our mission is to make robots smarter and more flexible, enabling batch-size-1 automation for surface treatment economically. We are now looking for a Working Student / Werkstudent (m/f/d) to get hands-on with our robot systems. You will build, wire, and see hardware run in a real factory, working directly with our engineers and founders in our Munich lab. Tasks Build & Wire: Assemble our robot cells — mount cobots, cameras and sensors, wire control cabinets, crimp cables, solder, and get the system powered up and running. Electronics & Measurement: Read and extend electrical schematics, select components, and debug with multimeter and oscilloscope until the signal is where it should be. Test & Script: Run bring-up and end-of-line tests, document what fails, and write small Python tools to talk to sensors, log data and automate repetitive steps. Prototype & Supply: Design and 3D-print mounts and adapters (we will teach you the CAD work), order components, and keep our lab and hardware stock in shape. Requirements Studies: Enrolled in Electrical Engineering / Elektrotechnik, Mechatronics, Robotics or a related field at a Munich university — and staying enrolled for at least 6 more months. Hands-On by Nature: You build things outside of lectures — Formula Student, rocketry, a makerspace, RC models, a self-built PCB. You have actually held a soldering iron and a multimeter. Electrical Fundamentals: Comfortable with schematics, wiring and basic measurement gear. 24 V industrial wiring, control cabinets or fieldbuses are a plus, not a requirement. Programming Skills: You know your way around Linux and can write a Python script. Driver's License: Class B — you occasionally pick up components at suppliers and join us for on-site work at customers. Availability & Mindset: ~20 h/week during the semester, ideally in full days, flexible in the breaks, on-site in Munich. Curious, reliable, and not scared by a system that does not work yet. Benefits Real Hardware, Real Factories: You work on the systems we ship to customers, not on a training project — and you can join us on a deployment to see them run on a factory floor. Learn from Experts: Direct mentoring from founders and engineers with +25 years in industry and robotics — short feedback loops, no layers in between. Ownership & Path Forward: Your own topics from day one, a natural route into a Bachelor's or Master's thesis, and — if it fits both sides — a permanent role after your studies. Environment & Pay: A modern, central workspace in Munich, a well-equipped lab, an international team (working language English), and €16–18/h depending on experience. Want to shape the future of industrial robotics? Send us your CV — a cover letter is not required. Tell us in two sentences what you have built with your own hands. We reply quickly and the process is short: a 20-minute intro call, then a visit to our lab in Munich so you can see the systems and meet the team. Find Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow
