Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. Staff Data Engineer, Enterprise Core Datasets, Tech Foundations The Community You Will Join: At Airbnb, trustworthy data powers business decisions, product innovation, and operational efficiency. The Enterprise Core Datasets team builds the technical data foundations that help Airbnb understand how the business operates, where resources are invested, and how new technologies create value. Our scope spans high-impact datasets across the organization: measuring AI adoption, usage, and cost; understanding revenue, costs, and profitability through Unit Economics; integrating non-platform data from Jira and other enterprise applications; and powering critical company metrics such as Gross Booking Value and Revenue. You will join a team that values thoughtful architecture, engineering rigor, and operational ownership. We collaborate with engineering, product, analytics, finance, and business teams to turn complex requirements into dependable, reusable data assets. We welcome strong engineers who are curious about the business and eager to solve problems across diverse domains. The Difference You Will Make: As a Staff Data Engineer, you will provide hands-on technical leadership for datasets that shape decisions across Airbnb. Your work will help the organization measure AI adoption and spending, understand the economics of its products, and connect enterprise application data to meaningful business and operational insights. You will lead complex initiatives from problem definition and architectural design through implementation, validation, and production operations. You will build extensible data foundations that accommodate new AI tools, products, cost categories, and enterprise systems while maintaining clear definitions, traceability, and reliable historical data. Operating in an ecosystem that includes petabyte-scale datasets, you will improve correctness, freshness, performance, and cost efficiency. You will develop reusable frameworks that simplify source onboarding, reduce duplicated logic, and make critical data easier to discover and use. Through mentorship and contributions to Airbnb's shared data engineering tools and standards, your impact will extend across the data community. A Typical Day: Lead the architecture, implementation, and operation of high-impact data pipelines across AI usage and cost, Unit Economics, enterprise applications, and critical Financial metrics. Partner with stakeholders to define how AI adoption, consumption, and spending are measured across the organization, and build consistent data models that support those definitions. Evolve Unit Economics datasets to connect revenue and diverse cost drivers, enabling teams to understand product profitability and resource efficiency. Build reliable ingestion and transformation pipelines for non-platform systems such as Jira and other BizTech enterprise applications. Translate ambiguous requirements into clear source contracts, reusable fact and dimension models, and technical designs. Develop configurable pipelines and shared components that simplify onboarding new data sources, products, and business requirements. Establish automated testing, reconciliation, anomaly detection, and monitoring to protect data accuracy, completeness, and availability. Lead safe migrations and historical backfills through dependency analysis, validation, controlled cutovers, and recovery planning. Optimize distributed processing, storage, and query performance to improve freshness and reduce compute costs. Own production reliability through on-call participation, incident response, and lasting improvements to systems and runbooks. Shape the technical roadmap, lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and contribute improvements to Airbnb's Data Engineering Paved Path. Your Expertise: 9+ years of relevant industry experience with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; or 6+ years of relevant experience with a PhD. A track record of leading complex data engineering initiatives from ambiguous requirements through architecture, delivery, and sustained production ownership. Deep expertise in SQL and strong programming skills in Python or Scala, with experience building maintainable, well-tested data systems. Extensive experience with distributed processing technologies such as Apache Spark and large-scale analytical storage systems. Strong data modeling skills, including fact and dimension design, slowly changing dimensions, incremental processing, and historical data management. Experience integrating heterogeneous sources, including APIs, enterprise applications, event data, and transactional systems, while managing schema changes and source reliability. Experience establishing data quality controls, observability, lineage, governance, and effective incident recovery practices. Strong performance engineering skills, including diagnosing bottlenecks and optimizing distributed computation, storage, and query execution. The ability to align stakeholders across engineering and business functions, communicate architectural tradeoffs, and drive decisions across team boundaries. Demonstrated technical leadership through mentorship, architectural guidance, and improvements to shared engineering practices. Curiosity and sound judgment when learning new domains and balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term system health. The Community You Will Join: Distribution Partnerships team's mission is taking Airbnb out to the world; working with a range of partners to embed Airbnb in highly trusted and contextually relevant environments to meet guests where they already plan and book their travel, experiences, and services. The team owns partnerships end to end, from initial ideation, strategy, engagement, and agreement through product launch and ongoing relationship management. Within it, the Business Development (BD) segment owns the front end of the partnership lifecycle: defining strategy, identifying and recruiting partners, structuring commercial agreements, and setting the foundation for long-term partnership success. BD works hand in hand with Partner Management, which grows, measures, and continuously improves each partnership after launch. This role owns partner management for a portfolio of live distribution partners, with approximately 70% of time on day-to-day management and strategic development of existing partners and 30% supporting the team on new partners and renewals, and is growing to become an end to end partnerships leader. The Difference You Will Make: We are looking for an experienced, proactive Senior Partnerships Manager to join our Distribution Partnerships team, reporting to the Director, Distribution Partnerships. You will manage a portfolio of live distribution partners across our verticals, such as financial services, airlines and loyalty programs, and business travel platforms (the mix may change as priorities shift), and support new partner deals and renewals as you grow into the role. In the future, you will have an opportunity to contribute to the distribution strategy, help define which segments and partners to target, and support negotiations and deal structuring on individual partnerships. You will carry each deal through launch and into long-term growth, establishing the measurement, forecasting, and feedback loops that let the wider team scale the program globally. Our partnerships are powered by a portfolio of products that are still being built (embedded booking, points earn and pay with points, embeds, and a partner portal), so you will work closely with Product and Engineering on what partners need and what we can ship. This is a highly cross-functional, high-ambiguity individual-contributor role suited to someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, product, dealmaking, and partner development, and who can build a business from zero to one and one to ten with limited guidance. The role also includes project management and operations, often where processes are not yet defined, so we need someone scrappy and proactive who finds ways to unblock problems we have not identified yet. A Typical Day: Partner management. Own the day-to-day relationship with your partners. Run regular partner reviews and QBRs, review funnels, track performance against targets (bookings, revenue, conversion), resolve escalations, and give early warning on at-risk partners. Success is measured by revenue growth and conversion improvement across your portfolio. Keep a feedback loop between partners and Product, Engineering, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to shape the roadmap. Partnership strategy. Contribute to and execute the BD strategy for your partner categories, within the wider distribution strategy. Identify the highest-value partners and use cases, and bring a clear, well-supported point of view on how each category should grow, including commercial models, incentive structures, and the sequencing of partners needed to prove and scale it. Deal execution. Support the BD process for new partners and renewals, and progressively lead it on priority partnerships, from initial outreach and scoping through needs assessment, negotiation, term sheet, and contract execution. Help structure referral, revenue-share, points and rewards, and co-funded marketing agreements that balance short-term value with long-term scalability and create win-win outcomes for Airbnb, partners, Guests, and Hosts. Launch and ongoing growth. Lead each partnership through launch, then own ongoing performance. Set launch plans with Product and Marketing, track performance against targets, and optimize offers, placements, and experiences to grow results over the lifecycle of the partnership. Measurement and forecasting. Build the KPIs, ROI model, and reporting cadence for your partners using the team's measurement methodology. Forecast partner-sourced bookings and revenue; report results and financials to the Director, Finance, and senior stakeholders. Cross-functional leadership. Work closely with Finance, Legal, Product, Engineering, Payments, and Marketing to define partner requirements, model revenue opportunities, set success metrics, and develop contracting frameworks. Anticipate partner needs, build consensus, and represent the opportunity clearly to senior internal stakeholders so priority deals move quickly. Market and category expertise. Build deep expertise in the partner landscapes relevant to your categories. Monitor competitor activity and market shifts, including how other travel marketplaces approach B2B distribution, and bring well-developed recommendations to leadership. Program development. Capture learnings from early launches to build the playbooks, commercial templates, and partner onboarding processes that allow these categories to scale globally. Internal advocacy. Serve as the internal voice for your partners. Synthesize partner feedback and market insight for Product, Engineering, and Marketing to inform the roadmap, and help stakeholders understand the commercial opportunity and strategic importance of the categories you manage. Your Expertise: 8+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, partner management, or distribution, with a track record of independently owning complex, multi-stakeholder partnerships and deals Experience managing a portfolio of live strategic partners and growing their performance over time through relationship development, partner business insights and expertise, funnel analysis, regular business reviews, and ongoing optimization of offers, placements, and experiences Ability to spot at-risk partnerships early, work through escalations, and build trusted, long-term relationships with partner teams at every level Experience managing or building partnership programs from scratch, including defining strategy, recruiting early partners, and developing commercial frameworks Strong commercial instincts and experience structuring and negotiating deals with diverse partner types, including referral, revenue-share, and loyalty or rewards models Strong analytical mindset; able to build ROI models and forecasts, use data to identify underlying trends, and make informed decisions. Comfort with Excel, Google Sheets, and AI tools Strong product and technical fluency; able to work closely with Product and Engineering on integrations and roadmap trade-offs Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with limited precedent; able to make sound decisions with incomplete information and flourish with minimal guidance Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Marketing to align on strategy and move deals forward Exceptional communication, presentation, and influence skills; able to develop a compelling point of view and bring senior stakeholders along Ability to manage complex projects and operations, and to build process where none exists, while attending to both details and macro-level outcomes Experience with financial services, airlines and loyalty programs, business travel platforms, or in travel, marketplace, or consumer technology is a plus Your Location: This position is US - Remote Eligible. About the team The AI Build team is a new, industry-focused team dedicated to building with the world's leading and fastest-scaling AI companies. We work alongside Stripe's AI Solutions Architecture and GTM teams, and across Stripe's product suite to help customers adopt emerging products, close interoperability and 0→1 solution gaps, and bring field learning directly into Stripe's product roadmap. The team owns strategic proof-of-concept engagements across the pre- and post-sales lifecycle, complementing Stripe's AI account teams and the product depth of Stripe's specialist teams. What you'll do As a Solutions Engineer on the AI Build team, you'll work directly with frontier AI companies on the payments, billing, and monetization infrastructure underlying their core businesses. You'll own complex proof-of-concept engagements on Stripe's frontier products, from initial scoping through activation and handoff, combining customer discovery, solution design, rapid prototyping, and cross-functional leadership. You won't simply implement a finished product: you'll build with customers, identify where Stripe's products or integrations need to evolve, and help customers feel as though they are inside our product roadmap. Responsibilities Own strategic POCs end to end: Sell, scope, and lead proof-of-concept engagements from initial customer commitment through activation. Build with customers: Work deeply with users' engineers and technical leaders to understand their workflows, rapidly prototype solutions, and establish credible paths to production. Design across Stripe: Create solutions that span multiple Stripe products and determine whether blockers require configuration, integration work, custom development, or a core product change. Who you are You are a customer-oriented technical builder who thrives in ambiguous, fast-moving environments. You build trusted relationships with engineers, technical leaders, and senior stakeholders, and you are equally comfortable discovering an unclear problem, designing an architecture, prototyping a solution, and coordinating teams through activation. You use code pragmatically to accelerate your work. You communicate clearly, lead through influence, and look for patterns that can turn one customer engagement into a better product or repeatable approach for many customers. Minimum requirements 7+ years of relevant experience in customer-facing technical delivery, solutions engineering, implementation, technical product management, or a related field Experience owning complex customer engagements from discovery and solution design through implementation or activation, including work across both pre- and post-sales phases Demonstrated success in ambiguous, 0→1 environments where the standard product, integration, or implementation pattern did not yet exist Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, application architecture, and data flows, with the judgment to distinguish implementation gaps from core product gaps Ability to prototype rapidly using modern AI coding harnesses and development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex Working proficiency in one or more relevant languages, such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Ruby; depth in a particular language is less important than the ability to learn quickly and build credible prototypes Ability to build trusted relationships with customer engineers, technical leaders, founders, and other senior stakeholders Ability to lead through influence across sales, product, engineering, implementation, and post-sales teams while maintaining clear ownership of the customer outcome Experience operating at startup speed and in Slack-first, rapidly changing environments, along with active engagement in the broader AI industry This role offers a unique opportunity to partner directly with leading AI companies and work on the financial infrastructure that powers their businesses.
