At Superchat, we're rebuilding how businesses talk to their customers. The phone call, the contact form, the support ticket: all of it is being replaced by messaging and AI. We're building the platform that runs underneath. Founded in 2020, Superchat has become the platform of choice for 10,000+ businesses worldwide , from globally recognized brands like Allianz, Auto1, Enpal, Danone, and GASAG to the small businesses, dental practices, and one-person startups that need to look bigger than they are. Today, millions of messages flow through Superchat every single day . We started as a unified inbox: one place for every channel a customer might pick, WhatsApp, email, SMS, Instagram. Then ChatGPT happened, and the second chapter began: AI agents that respond across chat, email, and voice at the quality of the best human teams. We're 100 people , profitable , and have raised €18M in funding (last round 4.5 years ago, we've been growing on our own money since). Headquartered in Berlin. In this role you own all of finance at Superchat end to end and report directly to the founders. When the board or our investors have a question about the numbers, you're the one who answers it. You'll take over our financial model and turn it into something the whole company can steer by. You'll own accounting through to the P&L, run forecasting and liquidity planning, and lead the annual audit. Who We Want 7+ years of finance experience. You know the full cycle first-hand, from closing to forecast to board reporting. Closing and audit expertise. You independently own monthly and annual closings under HGB, including revenue recognition and accruals, and you coordinate the annual audit with our external auditors through to completed financial statements. Expert financial modelling. You build driver-based, integrated three-statement models from scratch and you document them so that others can operate them too. Forecasting. You've owned full budget and forecast cycles, you bring together top-down targets and bottom-up input from team leads, and you treat forecast accuracy as a measurable figure that has to improve. Business partner. You deliver a reasoned recommendation, not just the numbers and you follow up on whether it gets implemented. Experience with investors and the board. You've prepared and presented board materials, and you've been through a financial due diligence - ideally on the company side. Bridges finance and startup culture. You bring the rigour a finance function demands, while working productively with fast decisions and shifting priorities. Appetite for automation. You actively look for ways to take manual work out of the close and the reporting cycle, so the team's time goes into analysis rather than assembly. Strong communicator. You translate complex financial data into clear narratives for stakeholders without a finance background, and you're confident in the room with founders, board and investors. Fluent German and English, written and verbal. Who We Don't Want Manages the status quo. You run an inherited function competently, but you don't develop it further. Reports instead of advising. You deliver numbers without drawing a recommendation from them, and consider the job done once the report is sent. Treats the model as personal property. You build something only you can operate with undocumented logic and manual overrides nobody else can follow. Uncomfortable in front of investors. Looking for predictability. You need stable priorities and permanently fixed responsibilities. Your Day To Day Financial Model & Steering (~30%) You own and maintain our driver-based financial model documented, operable by others, and reconciled to actuals every month You own forecasting, budgeting, liquidity and runway planning, and the management of cash conversion You own headcount planning together with the founders, People and team leads You evaluate business cases for new products, markets and pricing models, and act as a sparring partner to the founders on strategic decisions Accounting, Tax & Audit (~30%) You own bookkeeping and monthly, quarterly and annual closings under HGB, with clean revenue recognition and accruals You coordinate the annual audit with our external auditors end to end, through to completed financial statements You manage the relationship with our tax advisors and ensure tax obligations are met You own AR, AP and payment processes, and a cost centre structure that scales with the company KPIs & Business Partnering (~20%) You define and monitor the metrics each team steers by - engagement, conversion, retention - as inputs to the model rather than a separate reporting exercise You sit in the business reviews, translate numbers into concrete recommendations, and follow up on execution You deliver month-end variance analysis and management reporting as a clear, action-oriented narrative rather than a data dump You analyse revenue, margin and cost development at customer, product and channel level Funding & Investor Relations (~20%) You build and continuously maintain our data room so we're due-diligence-ready at any time You lead the financial due diligence on our side and support the next funding round end to end You own investor reporting and communication on a monthly and quarterly cadence, as well as the board reporting packages You maintain relationships with investors, banks and financing partners Stakeholders Founders & Leadership Team : your most important counterpart day-to-day, from annual planning to ongoing prioritisation and the most consequential financial decisions Team Leads across Sales, Marketing, Product & Customer Success: for KPI definition, budget ownership and business reviews Board & Investors: for monthly and quarterly reporting, board meetings and funding rounds External Partners: tax advisors, auditors, banks and financing partners Benefits & Culture Choose between an Urban Sports Club/John Reed membership or a public transport/Dance subscription Regular company and team events Annual personal development budget of €500 for conferences, courses, books, career coaching, and more An inclusive and exciting startup culture that enables fast professional and personal growth Beautiful office in the heart of Berlin (Prenzlauer Allee 242) with free snacks, drinks, and top-notch equipment We want to build a community, not just a company. About Nous Nous is an AI agent that takes some of the load of life; making good decisions and acting for our users in areas where they're not the experts or aren't paying enough attention. We've started with optimising bills, where we're already saving households thousands, and are now expanding into new categories. Similar to how Amazon picked books as its first category and grew from there. We're growing fast, and it's working. 20x YoY growth makes us one of the fastest scaling startups in the UK. And NPS of +70 (higher than Apple) shows that our users love it. We've just launched two more novel new products (on top of our existing bill optimisation). Insurance: we're the first to get the regulatory approval and build the tech to actually do the full insurance discovery and purchase journey as an agent for the user (not just give them a link to the best deal). Subscription management: lots of companies use Open Banking to draw pretty graphs – we're the first to use it to actively save people money starting by cancelling unwanted subscriptions for them. It would be easy to look at this and think we've got it all figured out. But we've only scratched the surface; our ambitions are SO much higher. We're building a new category of product which is hard, so we've stacked the deck in our favour: an experienced founding team with multiple exits, and investors including the founders of Monzo, Wise, Booking.com , lastminute.com , Onfido, Funding Circle, Tide, Habito and more. Still - the problems we're solving are hard . 'Talk is cheap' applies to agents too. To have REAL impact, agents need to break out of the sandbox and take action in the real world where there are consequences. This means solving all the hard, thorny, interesting, frustrating problems the real world has to offer. About the role This is a rare opportunity for exceptional mid-career talent to learn under an outstanding Head of Finance inside one of the UK's fastest-growing consumer-tech businesses. It's deliberately hands-on and technical. You'll own the day-to-day engine room of finance, from high-volume reconciliations through to month-end, while helping to design the controls, systems and automation that let Nous scale with near-zero defects. This is not a routine finance role. Because of the innovative nature of our business model, many of the problems you'll face require confident first-principles thinking rather than a ready-made playbook. It's a genuine controller-track opportunity: get this right and the path to Financial Controller and beyond is clear. Key responsibilities Own the high-volume reconciliations that sit at the heart of the business, ensuring customer, supplier and provider transactions reconcile cleanly and accurately as customers move between providers. Manage the invoicing cycle across the supplier and provider base, keeping it accurate, timely and well controlled. Take ownership of finance operations end to end, including customer payments, provider payouts, supplier fees and other regular payments. Build automation into finance workflows using modern data and AI tooling, driving speed, accuracy and scale as volumes grow. Maintain consistent, up-to-date and accurate financial records — being the go-to person on the historical financial source of truth, enabling clear visibility into performance. Lead the month-end close and prepare timely, accurate management accounts the leadership team can rely on. Design and embed financial controls across payments, approvals and vendor management, building a robust control environment from the ground up. Prepare the business for, and help lead it through, its first external audit. Partner with engineering, product and go-to-market teams to design low-touch, automated finance processes, particularly around reconciliation and data capture. Provide the finance foundations that support Nous's geographic and product expansion. Support the Head of Finance on investor reporting and the reporting infrastructure that underpins it. About you We expect strong candidates to come from one of two backgrounds: Practice first-movers. Exceptional talent making a first move from practice — ideally Big 4 (Audit, CFO Advisory or equivalent), or experience from another firm auditing high-growth tech businesses — who want to move into a high-calibre, hands-on industry role. Industry high-performers. High-calibre candidates already in industry who want a controller-track role in a rapidly growing company. Whichever route you come from, you'll have around five years or more of experience and a genuine track record of high performance. You're likely to have a STEM or otherwise analytical background or degree. Above all, you genuinely love accounting — not as a means to an end, but as a craft you find satisfying and want to master. You're high-agency and thrive in a fast-moving, high-bar, technical environment. You're comfortable in the detail, energised by problems that don't yet have a playbook, take pride in building well-run processes, and motivated by our mission to make life fairer for households. You're tech-savvy — the sort of person already curious about, and comfortable using, data and AI tooling in your own work. Essential experience Around 5 years or more of relevant finance experience, from practice (Big 4, audit or advisory) or a strong industry background. A clear, demonstrable history of high performance — academic, professional or both. A STEM or analytical background or degree, and a genuinely analytical mind. A real love of accounting, and comfort being hands-on in the detail of reconciliations, invoicing and month-end. High agency and first-principles problem-solving in fast-changing environments. Qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with at least 2–3 years PQE, or equivalent. Hands-on familiarity with databases and data tooling — for example Power BI, Looker, Omni, Amplitude or Tableau. Comfortable using modern data tooling beyond Excel and traditional accounting systems like Xero or NetSuite. Desirable experience Active use of AI tools in day-to-day work, for example Claude Code or similar. Exposure to high-volume, transactional businesses such as marketplaces, fintech, energy or consumer technology. Experience building or improving finance processes in partnership with product or engineering teams. Exposure to a first audit, or to building controls in a scaling business. Remuneration and benefits Compelling packages, including share options with life-changing upside. We've raised enough money to pay real salaries. We're building something great together and we all share in the upside. If we win, we win together. An environment where you can do your best work: 🏢 A great office set up for lots of collaborative working. We already need more whiteboards 💻 The equipment / setup / training you need to do your best work 🤝 A high-context environment with lots of exposure to the big decisions - be in the room when it happens (literally) 🏡 Flexibility around remote work. If you sometimes just need to get your head down, that's fine ☕ Very good coffee 🍽️ A well-stocked kitchen (featuring a wildly popular toastie maker) so you can always make yourself a breakfast or light lunch on the house 🎉 Informal social every week, something bigger every month, plus a set-piece event in the summer and again at Christmas - we're not robots! ✈ 33 days paid holidays (including bank holidays) 💊 Health and dental cash plans, including an employee assistance programme 🚴 Travel benefits, including the cycle-to-work scheme and season ticket loans Nous has an office-first culture . That means we encourage in-person working, and most people do work from the office in Farringdon most of the time. We do a lot of brainstorming, problem-solving and interaction within the team and presence makes this more effective. It also helps ensure people have good peripheral awareness and high context. But we are pragmatic not doctrinal about this, and recognise that, sometimes, certain types of work can be better done remotely. The environment Most importantly, this is a high-performance, high-agency and high-trust technical environment. Nous is intentionally lean and AI-native — not just in its product but as a company. Everyone is expected to use AI to its full potential, whether that's debugging a system, streamlining a workflow or improving how customers are served. Rather than building layers of middle management, we hire smart, high-agency people and give them real ownership. We're dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace, and we actively welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds. Every candidate is thoughtfully considered, without regard to race, religion, gender expression, disability or sexual orientation. Find more English Speaking Jobs in United Kingdom on Arbeitnow

Network Operations Engineer 1. About the role Share is the global marketplace for bandwidth. We aggregate telco infrastructure into a single layer and give ISPs, hyperscalers, and AI companies a clean path to deliver connectivity into every home and business across Kenya and the continent. Behind that marketplace is a real network: a BGP edge peering with Tier 1 transit, hyperscalers, and local exchanges, an MPLS backbone, aggregation and access gear, and the systems that watch all of it. For the partners who run on us, the network is the product, and the NOC is where they feel it. A clean shift is a partner who never knew anything happened. That is the bar. We are early and the team is small, so we cannot afford a pair of hands that only knows how to escalate. We need a capable network engineer who can stand a shift, resolve real faults without waking anyone, and then keep building the network while East Africa sleeps: propagation and peering checks, health passes across the estate, config changes through to merge, tickets off the board, automation that takes the next repetitive job off everyone's plate. The watching is the floor of this role, not the ceiling. The NOC you would be joining is not a legacy one. We are building it as an AI assisted operations environment from the ground up. The forwarding plane runs on open source routing and forwarding software, every device configuration lives in Git, and an LLM layer sits on top of the live network state. When something moves, that layer reads the telemetry, correlates it against the topology and the config history, and puts a probable cause and a candidate fix in front of the engineer on shift. The point is not to replace your judgment. It is to collapse the time between an alert firing and you knowing where to look, so mean time to repair is measured in minutes. You sit inside that system. You use it, you push back on it when it is wrong, and what you catch that it misses is part of how it gets smarter. As we build automation out across the NOC, you are not just a consumer of the tooling. You help write it. 2. What you'll do Watch, and know what you're looking at. Sit on our monitoring stack (Zabbix and Grafana dashboards, flow telemetry, alerting) and actually read it. Learn what normal looks like so abnormal jumps out at you: a BGP session that dropped, a link that went down, latency climbing on a path, a capacity threshold breached, a partner suddenly pushing or pulling nothing. Troubleshoot and resolve. This is where you earn your seat. Confirm the alert is real, gather the facts, and localise the fault: one peer or many, us or upstream, a real outage or a monitoring blip. The assistive layer surfaces a likely diagnosis and a suggested fix, the config history is right there in Git, and the runbooks are live. Your job is to read all of it critically, decide what is actually true, and close out what you can on your own. Every ticket you resolve yourself is one our senior people did not get pulled out of deep work, or out of bed, to deal with. Keep the network healthy, not just alive. A quiet shift is not an idle one. Run the proactive passes: check that routes are propagating the way they should, that RPKI and filter chains are doing their job, that peering and transit sessions are clean across the edge, that no PoP is drifting toward a capacity wall. Catch the slow degradations that never trip an alert. The day team should inherit a network in a known good state. Build and automate. The repetitive parts of this job should not stay repetitive. Write the scripts that turn a manual check into a scheduled one. Push our config automation forward (Jinja driven generation, NAPALM or NETCONF/gNMI against the devices) so changes ship from data, not from memory. When the assistive layer keeps missing the same thing, that is a candidate for automation, and you are well placed to build it during the hours nobody else is online. Move the work forward. You are part of the network team, working the same board they do. Pick up tickets from the Linear queue, take config changes through review to merge, and keep our source of truth (Nautobot) accurate as the estate changes. Real work lands while East Africa is offline, so the team wakes up further ahead than they went to bed. Report exactly what is happening. For everything you cannot or should not fix alone, the handoff has to be clean: what is wrong, where, since when, what is affected, whether it is getting worse, and what you have already tried. No guessing dressed up as fact. No "the internet is down." A clear, written incident note a senior engineer can act on the moment they open it, and a tidy handover to the East Africa team at the end of your shift. Escalate well. Know the ladder cold: what you are cleared to touch, what you must not touch alone, and who to bring in for what. Escalating early on a genuine outage is good judgment. Sitting silently on a problem because you were unsure is the one thing that gets people out of bed angry. Handle what you can, raise the rest fast and clearly, and do not turn either dial too far. 3. Who we're looking for A network engineer who can stand on their own through a shift, and who treats the quiet hours as time to build rather than time to wait. You will not be the most senior engineer on this team, and you do not need to be. The people you escalate to are CCIE level. What we need from you is independence and range: work a problem properly, resolve a fair share of it yourself, and use what is left of the shift to actually move the network forward. Pair that with clear reporting, sound judgment about when to bring in help, and the instinct to question a machine's suggestion rather than follow it blindly, and you are who we are looking for. Must-have Strong networking competence, held in your hands rather than on paper. CCNA and well beyond it. You understand TCP/IP, routing and switching, IP addressing and subnetting, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and how they behave when they go wrong. Real troubleshooting instinct. Given a degraded link or a dropped session, you know where to look and what to rule out. You can read BGP session state, follow a path with ping and traceroute, and tell a local fault from an upstream one without waiting to be told. Working BGP knowledge. Reading communities and route policy, spotting a flap or a leaky origin, understanding how transit, peering, and RPKI behave at the edge. Comfortable on the gear and the CLI. Linux, network device CLIs, and dashboards are familiar ground. We run MikroTik (RouterOS) across the network and so do many partners, so RouterOS experience is a real plus. Comfortable working with config in Git. Configuration lives in repos, not on devices. Reading a diff, understanding why a config changed, and proposing one yourself should not be foreign to you. Some scripting, and the appetite to do more. Bash or Python, enough to automate the repetitive parts away and to grow into our config and automation pipelines. We are not hiring a button pusher. Clear written English. You can describe a technical situation accurately and briefly so someone picking it up cold understands it instantly. Calm under pressure and dependable. When the graphs go red you get more precise, not more panicked. You show up for every shift, alert and on time. Located in New Zealand or a nearby time zone where covering our deep overnight maps onto your normal working day. Nice-to-have CCNP, or MikroTik MTCNA / MTCRE. Prior NOC, ISP, or carrier operations experience. Hands on with MPLS (L3VPN, EVPN) and the multi-tenant isolation a shared backbone needs. Exposure to open source and white box routing or forwarding stacks (SONiC, IP Infusion OcNOS, FRR, or similar). Network source of truth and automation tooling (Nautobot, NAPALM, Jinja config generation, NETCONF or gNMI). Familiarity with a monitoring stack such as Zabbix, Grafana, Loki, or Prometheus, and with flow telemetry. Working familiarity with FreeRADIUS, CoA and Disconnect flows, and how session control and accounting hook into the network. Exposure to applying ML or AI in network operations: anomaly detection, predictive failure analysis, automated triage or remediation. IPv6 and dual stack exposure, and internet exchange operations (looking glass and route server behaviour, IRR and RPKI hygiene). 4. What we offer A seat inside a serious, very senior network team , with people who have deep service provider backgrounds and will sharpen you fast. You will see how a real carrier network behaves under live conditions. A front row seat to how a network actually gets run in 2026. Open source forwarding, config as code, and an LLM layer doing real operational work. Not a slide about the future of network operations, but the environment you would work in every shift, and help build. Real engineering, not just monitoring. The role is built so the quiet hours go into automation, propagation and health work, and tickets off the board. The path into deeper network engineering and automation work is the plan, not a vague someday. Competitive salary and private health and wellness benefits , fully remote, in a mission driven, investor backed company building the backbone of Africa's next generation internet.
