About Us Radiant is powered intelligence, delivering scalable, high-performance compute infrastructure purpose-built for AI and HPC workloads. Operating across global data centres, we run mission-critical environments where uptime, throughput, and ultra-low latency are non-negotiable. Role Overview We are seeking a deeply technical, hardware-passionate Datacentre Operations Engineer to execute on-the-ground operations for our new East London deployment—Radiant's newest AI infrastructure site. This role focuses on delivering precise, repeatable physical practices—including advanced smart-hands support, complex cabling, and hands-on operation of high-density, air-cooled compute systems—to guarantee world-class SLAs on next-generation hardware architecture. Working closely with Infrastructure (HPC) SRE, Network Engineering, and Datacentre Strategy teams, you will uphold uncompromising standards across East London's data centre floor, spanning multiple data halls. You will live and breathe the hardware, maintaining elite facility reliability through hands-on deployment, proactive maintenance, rapid incident response, and structured break/fix execution across high-density air cooling systems, busbar-based power distribution, and next-generation GPU compute platforms. The role centres on technical execution and optimised output. You will turn global engineering standards into flawless, repeatable daily routines, continually honing on-the-ground practices to keep our most advanced hardware running at peak performance. East London's hardware platform is NVIDIA B300-class, fully air-cooled compute, delivered through a new OEM partner being onboarded to Radiant's fleet; while the interfaces and overall architecture closely align with other OEM platforms you may already know, you'll be one of the first teams operating it on the ground, so a fast learning curve and strong first-principles troubleshooting matter more than prior exposure to this specific vendor. You will be part of the founding team standing up 24x7x365 on-site coverage at East London to meet tight customer SLAs, and as Radiant expands its EMEA footprint, your relentless drive for hardware perfection and proven field expertise with high-density environments will serve as the operational blueprint to scale execution models efficiently across the region. What's in it for you? Join a team operating some of the world's most advanced high-performance computing infrastructure. As a Datacentre Operations Engineer, you'll work hands-on with cutting-edge GPU and CPU platforms — including the latest NVIDIA architectures — powering dense, large-scale compute environments used for AI, machine learning, and next-generation workloads. This is an opportunity to build expertise at the forefront of modern infrastructure, where reliability, scale, and performance matter every day. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers across a globally distributed organisation that values openness, inclusion, technical excellence, and continuous learning. We move quickly, solve meaningful challenges, and give people the space to make an impact. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy working with advanced technology, and want to help shape the future of high-performance compute, you'll find both challenge and opportunity here. You can also expect: Exposure to industry-leading GPU and AI infrastructure Opportunities to grow alongside a rapidly scaling global business A collaborative, inclusive, and supportive engineering About Aiven Aiven is the open source based data platform that builders trust to run PostgreSQL®, Apache Kafka®, ClickHouse®, OpenSearch®, Valkey™ and more in production, on any cloud. Builders ship faster. Their companies run on data that stays available, secure + under control. The role You are the technical owner of Aiven's strategic OEM partnerships, from the first pre-sales conversation to production at volume and beyond. OEM partners embed the Aiven platform inside their own products, so their architecture decisions become ours at scale: one design choice gets copied across hundreds of their customers. You win the technical evaluation, run the proof of concept, design the architecture, and stay on as the person both sides trust to say what should be built, what should be automated + what should be cut. You work AI-native. Agents handle deployment analysis, usage monitoring, rightsizing, PoC scaffolding + first-draft documentation; your time goes on the judgment calls, the partner's engineers + the hard integration problems. You own how your work gets done and redesign it as the tools improve, without waiting for a playbook. Life at Aiven Our values shape how we work. Get it done, together: we move with urgency, align on shared outcomes + put our effort where customers feel it most. Invent + impress: we challenge the status quo + bring different perspectives to hard problems. We commit + deliver: we own our commitments + do what we say. In this role, that means working with Sales, Technical Account Managers, Product, Engineering + Support on every partner, being the person partners trust to follow through, and moving faster than the partner's other vendors. We know what needs doing; the risk is being slow. Diverse perspectives make better ideas. Come as you are. We hire for how you think + what you can do. What we offer: stock options, an individual learning budget + coaching, flexible working hours + hybrid working, private health + dental care, and the equipment you need. What you will do Win the technical evaluation Partner with Sales as the technical lead through the OEM sales cycle: discovery, architecture proposals, objection handling + commercial-technical trade-offs. Scope + run proofs of concept that answer the partner's real question, using agents to scaffold environments, generate test data + document results so the PoC takes days, not weeks. Translate complex technical detail into clear business value for non-technical buyers, and the reverse for engineers. Design the architecture Develop and maintain expert-level knowledge of the Aiven platform: every service, feature and limit. Understand each OEM partner's customer use cases, then design and evolve robust, scalable, secure architectures that set them up right from day one, for the workloads they run today and the ones they are building next Guide partners in building architectures that support their customers' use cases, with best practices and tailored recommendations. Work with AI to continuously improve existing processes to build efficiency in the work with partners Enable the partner, from roll-out to growth Get partners up and running: integrate Aiven into their infrastructure + workflows via APIs, SDKs, Terraform + best practices, and solve the problems that block go-live. Actively contribute to partner stability, enablement + growth: help partners consume Aiven services well, so utilisation + value grow together. Work with partners on clear positioning of their Aiven-powered solutions to their customers. Run technical training + workshops for partner teams, including how to build, operate + support the platform with agents in the loop. Keep reference architectures + integration guides current, with agents drafting from real deployments and you owning accuracy. Own the relationship + the resolution Build trust-based relationships with partner engineering teams, technical decision makers + the Aiven sales reps you work alongside. Act as the technical liaison between partners and Product, Engineering + Support. When a partner is blocked, own it end-to-end across teams rather than handing it off. Close the loop fast: partner feedback becomes Product + Engineering tickets the same week, with evidence attached. What you bring 5+ years in solutions architecture, pre-sales, solutions engineering or technical consulting for software or cloud infrastructure, with production experience across data technologies such as Kafka, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, ClickHouse or similar. Experience with OEM, embedded or ISV partnerships, where your architecture ships inside someone else's product. A record of running proofs of concept that address real business requirements and convert to production. Fluency in at least one programming language, such as Java, Python or Go, and comfort in Linux: installation, securing systems, storage + networking basics like DNS. Working knowledge of at least one public cloud (AWS, Google Cloud or Azure) across compute, storage (block + object), networking + security. Hands-on experience with streaming frameworks (Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Spark Streaming or Kinesis) and a strong understanding of search ecosystems (OpenSearch, Elasticsearch or Lucene). Daily, hands-on use of AI tools + agents in your technical work, with examples of work you have redesigned or cut as a result. High agency: a record of owning problems end-to-end across teams without waiting for a blueprint. Clear communication with engineers, executives + non-technical buyers, written + spoken, in English, and the ability to build trust quickly with both internal sales reps and external partners. Self Development: In Aiven we've a budget to assist continuous learning and the right person will be self motivated to push their boundaries. Nice to have Multi-cloud experience across AWS, Google Cloud + Azure. Terraform, Kubernetes + infrastructure-as-code in production. Familiarity with distributed storage, NoSQL databases + data lakes. Comfort with usage based or consumption pricing, and with using usage data to spot risk + opportunity. Public speaking or technical writing for a developer audience. Contributions to open source projects. How we measure success Partner growth is our top priority Technical win rate on OEM opportunities you lead, and PoC-to-production conversion. Partner time-to-production for new integrations, falling over time. Optimisation recommendations delivered + adopted by partners. Cost or performance issues caught before the partner's customers see them. Partner feedback turned into shipped product changes. Ambassador output: blogs, talks + webinars delivered each year. Reusable assets (agents, reference architectures, playbooks) adopted by the wider SA team. Share of time on partner-facing work vs. analysis + documentation, trending the right way quarter on quarter. Amazing! WHO WE ARE Proxima Fusion is Europe's fastest-growing fusion company and the continent's best-funded fusion player, as well as the first spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP). Backed by over €650M and powered by a growing team across Munich, Zurich, and Oxford, we are developing the hardware and infrastructure needed to deliver the world's first commercial stellarator fusion power plant. Our concept advances the most mature fusion technology out there, the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator, through two next-generation machines: Alpha and Stellaris. Our work combines stellarator optimization, advanced computation, machine learning, and high-temperature superconducting magnets to unlock higher-performance designs that were previously out of reach. Turning these designs into a functioning fusion power plant requires excellence and ownership across every discipline, from physics and engineering to software, manufacturing, law, and business functions. BY JOINING OUR TEAM YOU'LL GET TO Build the machine that builds the machine . Join TechOps at the forefront of advanced manufacturing, we're building the production system that will enable commercial fusion. The Production lines, tooling, and processes are being developed from the ground up; you'll create the ways of working, not inherit them. Work at the frontier of manufacturing technology . Bring your creativity to evaluate, qualify, and deploy processes with no industry playbook, every component you build and every process you shape goes directly into the core of the stellarator magnet technology. Do work that matters, and see it grow . The hardware you build is the product and your career grows with it, from prototyping and process development through quality and industrialization, alongside exceptional colleagues from around the world. Make an impact you can point to . In a small, fast-moving team, your calls on equipment, quality, and process directly shape how a world-class deep-tech company produces superconducting magnets with results visible on the shop floor, not buried in a slidedeck. YOUR IMPACT Develop and industrialize the manufacturing processes used to build HTS magnet coils. Translate magnet designs into repeatable, high-yield production processes in collaboration with design, physics, and production teams. Own the tooling, fixtures, and quality systems required to deliver consistent and reliable manufacturing outcomes. Lead process development from prototype builds through the transition to full-scale manufacturing. WHAT YOU WILL DO Develop, qualify, and continuously improve manufacturing processes for HTS coil winding, insulation, impregnation, and joining, working closely with magnet design and materials engineers. Drive design-for-manufacturing/design-for-assembly (DFM (Design for Manufacturing)/DFA (Design for Assembly)) collaboration with the design team, acting as the manufacturing voice in design reviews to keep coil designs buildable, scalable, and serviceable. Design, procure, and validate tooling, fixtures, and jigs for precision winding and assembly of non-planar coil geometries, including capability studies where needed. Define assembly sequences, work instructions, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and visual aids for technicians, and maintain this documentation as designs evolve. Define and implement process controls and inspection methods (dimensional, electrical, structural) to catch defects early and protect conductor integrity. Lead NPI (New Product Introduction) campaigns, process trials and pilot builds, and provide hands-on floor support during prototype and early production builds. Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions (8D (Eight Disciplines problem-solving methodology), 5-Why, fishbone, etc.) for yield, quality, and cycle-time issues, and apply Lean/Six Sigma principles to drive measurable process improvement. Support supplier qualification and incoming inspection criteria for tooling, components, and outsourced subassemblies. Manage engineering/process change control as designs and processes mature. Collaborate cross-functionally with design, quality, supply chain, and test engineering to resolve manufacturability issues early and support the ramp from prototype to serial production. WHO YOU ARE 3+ years specifying, procuring, installing, commissioning, and qualifying production equipment and/or automation for component manufacturing lines and/or assembly cells — including RFQ (Request for Quote) ownership, supplier management, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test)/SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and production ramp. Hands-on experience designing tooling and fixtures for low-volume, high-precision production, and proficiency in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) (SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) plus a solid grasp of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Track record of writing clear work instructions, SOPs, and process documentation in a production or NPI(New Product Introduction) environment. Working knowledge of process control, statistical methods, and structured root-cause problem solving (SPC (Statistical Process Control), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), 8D). Experience supporting prototype or first-article builds directly on the floor, not just from a desk. Strong communication skills in German or English. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Nice to have: Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems for engineering change control and manufacturing documentation management (e.g. Arena, Enovia). Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)/Platforms (e.g. Tulip, Delmia). Experience working in a research-to-product transition environment, where designs and processes evolve rapidly. Experience scaling a process from prototype to serial production in a startup or fast-moving environment.
