OWNS The technical outcome of NIX ANGELS: the line, the roadmap, the technical team, the technical budget, and the credibility of our technical claims in front of investors and funding bodies. REPORTS TO CEO / Founder. Peer to COO and Head of Design. Member of the leadership team. TEAM 3-5 full-time engineers. WHO WE ARE NIX is working towards a fully automated clothing production line in Europe. We're starting with the simplest, most challenging product: a cotton jersey T-shirt. By the end of April 2027, our production line is expected to produce 5–10 shirts per day, with fewer than two manual interventions per shirt. A key problem with our production line remains unsolved: holding, stretching, and securing fabric that sags while a machine sews. If that sounds like the most interesting problem in manufacturing and robotics, it is probably exactly the right one for you. WHAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR The production line and the roadmap. The milestones are set against one target: a proof of concept by April 2027, 5–10 shirts per day. The roadmap states milestones, blockers and gates. We want you to challenge every aspect of it — and to build the line against those targets. Digital Transformation: Drive Industry 4.0 initiatives like IoT, AI-driven predictive maintenance, and automation on the factory floor. The technical team: hiring, leading, developing. You set the standard and you protect the focus. Design for automation: negotiating with Product and Design which garment features stay, which ones change, and what a future style must respect to be machine-makeable. Suppliers and partners: finding them, qualifying them, negotiating. Supplier acquisition is a core skill here. Finance: technical budget, cost breakdowns, CapEx versus OpEx, and estimates that survive being challenged. You build and defend the technical part of our funding case. Investors and public funding: technical due diligence, and the technical substance behind the grant applications our advisor is writing. Machine safety and CE: you own the risk assessments and the conformity of what we build, with external safety engineering support. IP: what we protect, what we publish, what we deliberately leave open. Research partnerships with universities and institutes — scoped, time-boxed, with a specific research question under investigation. WHAT YOU MUST BRING TEXTILES AND MATERIALS Knowledge of textile technology, garment manufacturing and material behaviour. Without it, show us that you learn a new material domain extremely fast — and how you did that before. Ideally B.Eng./ M.Eng/M.Sc. in Textile Engineering /Mechanical Engineering /Robotics Engineering SYSTEMS THINKING You see the line as one system. You can explain why a decision at the cutting table shows up as a defect at the hem — and you can put a number on it. HANDS-ON ENGINEERING Automation, mechanical engineering and robotics, from your own hands. You will be in the workshop, at the machine, with fabric in your hands. SPEED WITH A STEADY HAND High cadence, quick decisions, 80 % information is enough to act. And at the same time calm — because a team that is rushed stops iterating and starts hiding problems. Urgency without panic. BIAS TO ACTION You would rather build a rough prototype this week than write a specification. COMFORT WITH UNCERTAINTY A core problem of our line is unsolved. You must be able to work, decide and lead a team without knowing whether it will work — and to stop a line of work honestly when the evidence says stop. LEADERSHIP WITH EMPATHY Proven experience leading engineers. People stay and grow under you. You give direct feedback and help them grow. MONEY LITERACY Budgeting, cost models, estimate quality, runway awareness. You know what your decisions cost per month. LANGUAGES German and English, both negotiating levels. The team is international; our suppliers and machine builders are largely German-speaking. PRESENCE Berlin, on site. This is a hardware company — the work happens at the machine. We do not run this role remotely. THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR YOU IF You want to lead technology from a laptop. The line is physical and so is this job. You need consensus before you move. You want certainty about the outcome. Nobody can give it to us, including you. WHAT WE OFFER True decision-making autonomy in your area, including the freedom to make mistakes. A budget for tools and materials so the work can be done properly. Short lines of communication, direct contact with the founder and industry partners. Full support and a proper hand-over from the current CTO. SELECTION PROCESS FOR THIS ROLE Screening call, 30 minutes: your credentials, our challenge, our expectations. A case study in our workshop: you see the real state, talk to the team, and work through the cost model and the roadmap with us. References from engineers who reported to you, and from people you reported to. Dinner with the team and the founder. Decision within one week after the workshop day. Submit your application with everything that shows what you have built: photos, drawings, a repository, logs. We don't need a cover letter. Three sentences on why this problem interests you are worth more. Without proof of what you have built, we will not review the application. Find Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow
SAEKI - Manufacturing at software speed Europe's defense industrial base cannot respond at the speed modern conflict requires. Legacy suppliers operate on month-long timelines. Tribal knowledge is retiring. Supply chains are fragile. SAEKI is building the operating system for autonomous factories - the infrastructure that lets Europe manufacture mission-critical components at software speed. The Role As a Junior Computational Geometry Engineer, you work on the geometry core of our Manufacturing Intelligence stack: the engine that takes an arbitrary customer CAD model, reasons about how to build it, and then proves that we built it right. You start on well-scoped parts of that engine, next to the engineers who built it, and grow into owning them. Your code runs in the factory. What We're Looking For Foundations . Degree in computer science, mathematics, mechanical engineering or a related field, with real depth in geometry, linear algebra and numerics. Internships, thesis work or serious side projects count. We do not expect years of production experience. B-rep Basics . You are comfortable with topology, NURBS, meshes and point clouds. You may never have shipped a robust boolean, and you still understand why floating-point robustness destroys naive implementations, and you want to learn how the field handles it. Kernel Exposure . You have worked with a geometry kernel and mesh libraries in at least one project: OpenCASCADE, CGAL, libigl, Open3D, PCL, Parasolid or comparable. Technical Ability . Solid modern C++ (17+) plus Python for tooling and rapid iteration. Rust is welcome. You write code others can read, test and maintain. Manufacturing Curiosity . You want to understand what happens once geometry meets a spindle, a nozzle or a fixture. CNC, additive or metrology exposure is a bonus, never a requirement. First Principles Thinker . You reason by physics and mathematics, not analogy. When an algorithm fails on a real part, you dig until you know whether the bug sits in the code, the model or the assumption. Learning Speed . You take direct feedback, apply it immediately, and close your own knowledge gaps without waiting to be taught. Industrial Grit . You want to stand next to the machine in Germany and watch your output run. The feedback loop between your code and cutting metal is the point. On - site . Ability to work in person at our HQ in Zurich, Switzerland. What we're not looking for Researchers who want to publish and hand off. You ship. CAD users. This is a role for people who build the tools, not drive them. Engineers who need a clean spec. The problem is defined by the part, the machine, and the customer - you'll help define it. People who treat "it works on the test model" as done. Real customer CAD is broken, degenerate, and adversarial. That is the job. Engineers who are uncomfortable with ambiguity or rapidly changing priorities. What we offer Mission : Rebuild the industrial sovereignty of the West. Your work directly enables production of mission-critical hardware for defense and space. Total Ownership : High-stakes autonomy in your domain. You own both the problems and the solutions - and have the authority to execute. The Environment : Access to a 8,000 m² state-of-the-art facility featuring 5-axis CNCs, industrial robots, and industrial 3D printers. Your algorithms run on real hardware from day one. The Team : "Special Forces" model. Everyone senior, everyone ships. No politics, no bureaucracy. Direct feedback, high standards. Compensation : Competitive salary + meaningful equity. Location : Zurich HQ, with occasional time at Factory ONE in Munich. Apply Resume : Focus on the geometry work you have actually done. Thesis, internships, projects, coursework. GitHub / Portfolio : Show us the hardest problem you have solved. Code, a write-up, or a part that came off a machine because of you. Cover letter : Why this mission? Why now? What would you build first? Find more English Speaking Jobs in Switzerland on Arbeitnow
