Present in person and remotely to customer business and technical stakeholders to explain how Blend products work and how they should be implemented, running demos, walkthroughs, and working sessions that keep the engagement aligned. Occasional onsite travel to client locations is expected. Consult with lender business and technical resources to produce business requirements and functional design documents, and partner with customer business teams to understand business objectives and integration requirements. Translate client needs into clear, comprehensive written requirements and specifications for Product Owners and the technical integration teams, so product and engineering can build and integrate against a precise, unambiguous scope. Complete and manage end-to-end software and platform configuration changes based on client requirements, from screens and application settings to branding and environment changes. Plan and execute integration testing and user acceptance testing of customer implementations, triage and troubleshoot defects, and run launch activities to a successful go-live. Collaborate with Blend Product and Engineering teams to share customer requirements, influence product priorities , and further improve Blend core product features. Act as the engagement manager and primary client contact for your accounts, running regular meetings, leading discovery, recommending concrete solution options within known patterns, and owning customer satisfaction. As scope grows, structure ambiguous client asks into clear requirements and negotiate trade-offs across timeline, complexity, and risk. Candidates with broader experience will own multiple, more complex, higher-risk engagements and act as a subject-matter expert. Proven ability to project-manage an engagement, running multiple projects at once, including project plan preparation and maintenance, scope control, and project risk management. Able to speak with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, present in person and remotely, explain how products work and should be implemented, and tailor the message to each audience. Brex's AI-native automation and world-class service eliminate manual expense and accounting tasks for customers so they can focus on what matters most. Tens of thousands of the world's best companies run on Brex, including DoorDash, Coinbase, Robinhood, Zoom, Plaid, Reddit, and SeatGeek. Working at Brex allows you to push your limits, challenge the status quo, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry. We're committed to building a diverse team and inclusive culture and believe your potential should only be limited by how big you can dream. We make this a reality by empowering you with the tools, resources, and support you need to grow your career. Operations Operations is the backbone of Brex's mission to power businesses through our Intelligent Finance Platform. We own credit, fraud, money movement, and payments, protecting our customers and our company. From product operations that ensure flawless launches to scalable systems that drive innovation and precision, we operate at the intersection of product, design, engineering, and customer success. If you want to work at the heart of the business, Operations is where you belong. What You'll Do Account Servicing owns what happens to a Brex account after it's live: money applied against statement balances, billing terms changed, auto-pay kept working, points debited and granted, credit performance reported to the bureaus, and accounts closed cleanly. We're hiring a manager to run that portfolio. You'll inherit a team with deep subject-matter expertise in specific queues, a set of in-flight migrations from other teams, and a real automation opportunity across the highest-volume work. The mandate is to hold the SLA and accuracy bar while systematically shrinking the manual surface area in a quickly growing environment. Payment application and wires. Wires applied against statement balances, including unmatched, partial, and misapplied payments. Support the expansion of wire coverage as we open up new corridors and use cases. Statement adjustments. Refunds and offline collections (manual balance adjustments), with the controls that keep adjustment accuracy high and every entry defensible in an audit. Billing changes. Due date changes, billing frequency changes, payment extensions, and grace period requests in close partnership with GTM, Credit, and Deal Desk teams. Auto-pay management. Manual pay exceptions, penny-pull (micro-deposit) verifications, and funding source changes. Vendor onboarding. Getting Brex set up correctly as a payee inside customers' third-party AP and procurement portals so invoices route, approve, and pay on time. Credit reporting. The monthly bureau submissions, plus end-to-end disputes management at the accuracy and timeliness standard regulation requires. Account closures. Customer-initiated, legal, and Terms-of-Service closures, including final balance settlement and rewards true-up. This is a newly transitioned part of the portfolio and will have operational process development needs from day 1. Points debits and rewards grants. Points debiting, merchant categorization changes, audits and true-ups, and non-automated partner referral grants. Automation and migration. Partner with Product and Engineering to cut average handle time and retire manual queues. Where you'll work This role will be based in our Salt Lake City office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work! Responsibilities: Coach, and develop a team of servicing specialists. Where a queue currently depends on one person's expertise, build redundancy so it doesn't. Set and defend SLAs, quality bars, and capacity models across workflows that behave very differently from one another. Define your own operational reporting cadences and measures to make staffing and prioritization decisions. Write and maintain the SOPs, QA sampling, and maker-checker controls that keep financial adjustments accurate and auditable. Be the escalation path for high-dollar, time-critical, and legally sensitive cases, working directly with Legal, Compliance, Collections, Treasury, Finance, Deal Desk, and CX. Own the automation roadmap for the team: find the candidates, quantify the case, spec the requirements, validate the before-and-after, and hold the line on the edge cases that automation tends to break on. Requirements 5+ years in financial services or fintech operations, including 2+ years managing people directly; hiring, performance management, and development. Hands-on ownership of a servicing, billing, payment, or credit operations queue where errors move real money, plus the controls experience that comes with it: reconciliation, QA sampling, maker-checker review, audit trails. A track record of process improvement you can quantify. You've taken a manual, high-touch workflow and measurably reduced handle time, backlog, or error rate. Experience being the operational counterpart to Product and Engineering: writing requirements, aligning on priority, testing builds, and catching what the spec missed. Data fluency. You can pull, build, and defend your own numbers in SQL, spreadsheets, or BI tooling. Sound judgment under ambiguity and the discipline to escalate the right things. This team handles legal closures, bureau disputes, and balance adjustments where the wrong call has financial or regulatory consequences. Strong written communication. SOPs, escalation summaries, and cross-functional updates are a meaningful share of the work. A well-defined point of view on where AI can and should be applied in scaled operations Bonus points Direct credit bureau furnisher experience: Metro 2 reporting, e-OSCAR, FCRA dispute handling, or data quality remediation. Commercial card, charge card, or business lending servicing background, as distinct from consumer. Working knowledge of wire and ACH (push and pull) mechanics, exception handling, return codes, micro-deposit verification, misapplied payment research. Rewards or loyalty operations experience, especially points liability, audits, true-ups, and clawbacks. Experience configuring a company as a vendor or payee in AP and procurement platforms ( bill.com , Tipalti, Coupa, etc.). Experience absorbing workflows from another team without an SLA dip. Familiarity with support and ops tooling (Salesforce, Retool) and low-code workflow automation (Retool, Zapier, Backoffice Compensation The expected salary range for this role is $105,600 - $132,000. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Every member of our team directly contributes to top-line growth by expanding Brex's reach across key ecosystems, from technology platforms to financial sponsors who influence large customer networks.Within Business Development, the Private Equity Channel team is responsible for building partnerships with PE firms to drive new customer growth, generate pipeline, and increase engagement and monetization of existing customers. Over the past 12 months, Brex's PE channel hit an inflection point, turning Tier 1 private equity firms into active referral sources for their portfolio companies due to demonstrable ROI. That model was proven through consistent in-market presence: dinners, conferences, events, and the trust that compounds across repeated value-added touchpoints. The channel is now at a critical scaling moment. Responsibilities: Hire, develop, and manage a team of Partner Managers across East Coast, West Coast, and emerging PE geographies, setting the bar for performance and career growth Own the PE channel strategy end-to-end — target firm prioritization, coverage model, engagement motion, and referral conversion — and identify new growth vectors across geographies, firm tiers, and portfolio models Build the internal case for channel investment and headcount, presenting performance and roadmap to senior leadership Personally own and deepen relationships with the most strategic Tier 1 PE firms, serving as escalation point and executive sponsor across the team's book Represent Brex across the PE ecosystem at premier industry events, dinners, and conferences Partner with Marketing on field events and content, and with Sales leadership on handoffs and referral-to-close conversion Drive internal alignment with Finance, RevOps, and Partnerships on channel prioritization and metrics infrastructure during planning cycles Requirements: 8–12+ years of experience in PE business development, financial services sales, partnerships, or a related senior role with consistent, demonstrable exposure to the private equity ecosystem. 4+ years of people management experience; track record of hiring, developing, and retaining high-performing BD or sales talent. Established senior-level relationships within the New York private equity community; credible with managing directors and partners at leading PE firms from day one. Proven channel builder — experience standing up or significantly scaling a partnerships motion, not just maintaining one. Strong commercial instincts; able to connect PE relationship activity to pipeline generation, ARR outcomes, and executive-level narratives. Excellent written and verbal communication; executive-ready in both internal stakeholder management and external partner engagement. High organizational acumen — able to manage a team, a personal book of relationships, and strategic workstreams simultaneously without dropping quality. Based in New York; comfortable being in-market regularly for dinners, events, and partner engagements. Self-directed and entrepreneurial; able to operate with high autonomy while maintaining tight alignment with Partnerships leadership. The expected OTE range for this role is $355,950 - $395,500. AI experience requirements vary by role and will be assessed during the interview process. About the Role: Gusto Solo is the all-in-one platform solopreneurs (and their accountants) run their whole business on. We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help build the next chapter of Solo. You'll work in a tight, high-leverage funnel where your work maps directly to top-line revenue, and you'll help build an AI-native product. We're looking for an owner, not just an executor: someone with a strong product mindset who spots the problem, drives the change, and sees it through end to end. We're a small, scrappy, fast-moving team, so we're looking for someone who likes wearing many hats. If you want to weigh in on product, design, or GTM along the way, there's real room for that here. About the Team: Self-employed businesses are one of the fastest-growing segments of small business, and Gusto is betting on making Solo the true all-in-one platform for solopreneurs. This is a fully funded, high-performing team: a small group of engineers and an Engineering Manager, plus a dedicated Data Scientist, Designer, and GTM partner with room to grow based on roadmap progress. Here's what you'll do day-to-day: Own end-to-end delivery of net-new product areas, from technical design through shipping. Use AI as a genuine multiplier in your own workflow, and help build AI-native experiences into the product itself (including MCP tools). Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and GTM to identify customer and business problems, prototype solutions, and iterate quickly. Make pragmatic architecture and data-modeling decisions for problems that mostly don't have existing precedent at Gusto yet. Build and maintain full-stack features - from backend APIs to frontend UI - with an eye toward scalability and maintainability as the team and product grow. Weigh in beyond the "engineer lane" when it helps the team: product framing, design tradeoffs, or GTM considerations. Help define engineering practices and technical foundations for a team that's still early in its build-out. Here's what we're looking for: 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping full-stack features end to end. Proficiency across a full-stack toolkit (e.g., Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, GraphQL) and the judgment to choose the right tool for the problem. Demonstrated ownership of 0→1 or greenfield projects, not just extension of existing systems. A self-driven mindset: comfortable setting direction amid ambiguity, not just executing against a spec. Genuine, habitual use of AI tools in day-to-day engineering work Excellent written and verbal communication, with a track record of strong cross-functional partnership. Bonus points: Experience building for self-employed businesses or SMBs. Experience in a regulated or compliance-adjacent domain (fintech, payroll, tax, accounting). Experience shipping AI-powered or AI-augmented product experiences (agents, copilots, LLM-based tooling). Startup or "team of one" experience, comfortable operating with high autonomy and few guardrails. Please note that a two day travel to a Gusto office for onboarding is required for this position. If you have any questions regarding this requirement, please share with your recruiter. Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $197,000–$247,000 for San Francisco. Stock equity is additional. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above. Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Experience working on financial systems, payments, or other high-correctness domains (or the ability to ramp quickly). Comfortable owning systems end-to-end, including production support and operational work. Experience working closely with PMs and cross-functional partners to deliver scoped work. Pragmatic, execution-focused approach to engineering. Clear communicator and collaborative teammate. Ability to mentor engineers to maximize their performance and impact Experience with Ruby on Rails (or a comparable backend framework). Bonus Points: Experience leveraging AI tools or systems to accelerate development, improve testing, and deliver new product capabilities. Curiosity and experimentation with emerging AI frameworks, applying and sharing best practices to evaluate and scale AI use safely across teams. This is an opinionated leader that is motivated by creating big picture vision and digging into where the biggest opportunities are, sizing them, and building the systems, rigor, and connective tissue that let Growth and GTM operate cohesively. This is a member of Gusto's Insights & Operations (I&O) team — our internal Strategy/BizOps function — embedded against Growth, partnering closely with our Head of Growth and our CRO-side GTM leadership. This role is intentionally IC-first. You'll start by going deep on the highest-leverage problems in Growth, build a point of view grounded in data, and drive it to outcome. As trust and scope grow, this role is expected to expand — most likely into owning the operating bridge between Growth and our broader go-to-market organization, and potentially into building and leading a small team. About the Team: Gusto's Growth organization is on an ambitious trajectory: we're building toward a much more self-serve-led motion, and the opportunity ahead is significant. As Growth scales, we have a chance to be much more intentional about how it connects to Product and to our go-to-market teams (sales, demand gen, expansion sales, pricing, etc) — building a shared, prioritized roadmap and clear visibility into dependencies from the ground up, rather than retrofitting it later. Here's what you'll do day-to-day: Identify and size the highest-leverage opportunities for Growth: go from a fuzzy problem to a clear-eyed analysis of the opportunity, a recommendation on whether to pursue it, and a plan if the answer is yes. Anchor on problems, not headcount: dig into what's actually slowing the Growth organization down, define how to build a best in class engine, size the opportunity, and decide what's worth solving before proposing who or what is needed — not the reverse. Build the operating rhythm for Growth and drive execution against it: planning cycles, prioritization, and a shared, prioritized roadmap that makes trade-offs and dependencies visible across Growth R&D, Product R&D, and GTM. Bring real analytical rigor to how Growth invests — attribution, LTV, and testing/experimentation discipline — so decisions about where to deploy resources are tied clearly to business impact. Close the gap between Growth R&D and go-to-market: build the mechanisms (shared roadmap, dependency tracking, decision forums) that let both orgs operate as one team working toward the same number, rather than two orgs trading requests. Design an operating system anchored in technology vs. humans: build the muscle and mechanisms the Growth org can through automation, and hand off ownership once a system is running Act as a trusted advisor to Growth leadership: pressure-test strategy, surface risks and blind spots early, and bring an opinionated point of view, not just facilitation. Use AI as a default, not an add-on: build reusable, AI-powered workflows for planning, synthesis, and reporting so manual coordination is the exception, not the norm. Spot when a team is optimizing for the wrong thing: recognize when more effort against the current approach won't get us where we need to go, and push teams toward a fundamentally different path rather than a marginal improvement. Raise the bar for how I&O operates, not just how Growth operates: share what's working, question what isn't, and help the broader I&O team build a stronger, more consistent craft. Here's what we're looking for: 15+ years in operations, business operations, or strategy & ops at a high-growth technology company. This must include time spent building a growth function from an earlier, less mature stage. Direct experience with the discipline behind growth decision-making: attribution and LTV modeling, testing and experimentation, and translating marketing/growth spend into demonstrable business impact. A track record of working at the intersection of growth and go-to-market (or product and sales) — connecting teams with different incentives around a shared goal. A strong point of view on how operations should scale: knowing when a problem needs a dedicated system vs. when it needs reprioritization, and resisting the urge to grow headcount by default. Comfort starting as an individual contributor — going deep on one problem set before taking on broader scope — balanced with a demonstrated ability to build and lead teams when the moment calls for it. Exceptional organizational skills, able to manage multiple senior stakeholders and competing priorities in a fast-moving environment. Excellent written and verbal communication — able to tailor for executive audiences and drive alignment on hard, ambiguous trade-offs. Financial acumen: comfortable managing financial tracking and reporting across a complex org Low ego and a bias toward collaboration: someone who works well across teams that all want the same outcome but don't yet have the bridges to get there together. Deep empathy and enthusiasm for small business customers, and excitement about joining a company still very much in its building phase. About you You're drawn to ambiguity, not intimidated by it — you'd rather build the map than wait for someone to hand you one. You have a point of view and you share it — you'd rather say the harder, more useful thing than stay neutral to keep the peace. You're energized by change and by building something new, even when it means occasionally undoing your own work to get it right. You default to using AI to move faster and think bigger, and you save your own time and judgment for the calls only a person can make. Our cash compensation amount for this role is between $188,510 - $232,496/year in Denver and between $221,275 - $298,721/year for New York/San Francisco, Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above. Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Exceptional organizational and leadership skills; calm under pressure with a sharp eye for detail. Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and build alignment across diverse stakeholders. A positive, collaborative attitude — you're fun to work with, contribute to team culture, and bring energy that elevates those around you.
