What you'll do: Design, develop and test Rust backend services for complex financial products, with a focus on accuracy, scalability and reliability. Translate complex financial rules and mathematical concepts into precise, efficient and testable software, accounting for numerical precision and edge cases. Build scalable solutions using historized, non-relational data models and asynchronous, event-driven architectures. Contribute to technical specifications, design discussions and code reviews, using AI coding agents while maintaining rigorous review standards and accountability. Own features through the development lifecycle, from implementation and automated testing to deployment and monitoring, working alongside Platform and SRE engineers. Work directly with clients and domain specialists to analyse product questions, solve problems and bring insights back into product development. Qualifications Strong programming foundations in a statically typed language such as Rust, C++, Java, Scala, Kotlin, C#, Go or TypeScript. Master's degree or PhD in computer science, mathematics, physics or a related quantitative field. Strong modelling skills, including experience or understanding of historized data, effective dating, immutability and audit trails. Strong analytical ability and intellectual curiosity, with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and complex financial domains. Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts effectively to both technical and business audiences. Ability to work independently within a distributed team and travel to Switzerland and client sites when required. It would be a real bonus if you have: Production Rust experience, or experience with another systems/strongly typed language such as C++, Haskell, OCaml or Scala. Experience in wealth or asset management technology, including investment performance, portfolio construction/rebalancing, or tax, accounting and other rule-heavy financial software. Experience with AWS serverless and event-driven architecture, particularly Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, S3 and API Gateway, or related distributed-systems technologies. Experience with AI-assisted engineering, client-facing product development, research or open-source software. Additional Information This role includes onboarding with the existing team in Zurich, regular travel to Switzerland and occasional travel to client sites. About Ottimate Ottimate is an AI-powered AP [Accounts Payable] automation platform that empowers finance teams to reduce costs, prevent overpayments, detect fraud, and enforce policy compliance across the entire invoice-to-payment lifecycle. About The Role We're looking for a capable, growth-minded software engineer to join our team as its third engineer. This is an ideal opportunity for an early-to-mid-career engineer who wants meaningful ownership, close collaboration with experienced teammates, and the opportunity to grow quickly. Our team solves real customer problems across a mature financial platform. The work ranges from building product features to investigating production incidents, improving database performance, strengthening security boundaries, and maintaining reliable accounting and payment workflows. We use AI-assisted development tools extensively, but we do not treat generated code as automatically correct. A successful engineer in this role will know how to use tools such as Claude Code or Codex to navigate unfamiliar systems and accelerate development while remaining responsible for correctness, security, testing, and operational safety. You do not need experience with every technology or with fintech. We care more about strong fundamentals, curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to learn quickly. Responsibilities Build, test, and maintain backend product features, primarily using Python, Django, and relational databases Use AI coding tools to investigate problems, implement changes, write tests, and improve documentation Critically review AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability Turn customer feedback into reproducible technical problems, fix the root cause, check whether customer data was affected, and update it Translate ambiguous customer feedback into reproducible technical problems and practical product improvements Own work from initial investigation through implementation, testing, QA, deployment verification, and follow-up Build and maintain APIs, asynchronous jobs, integrations, internal tools, and data-processing workflows Write clear, maintainable code with appropriate automated test coverage Participate in code reviews and technical discussions with the rest of the engineering team Improve system reliability, observability, documentation, and development processes Protect financial correctness, tenant isolation, data integrity, auditability, and customer privacy Gradually take ownership of larger features and technical decisions as you grow in the role Requirements Professional software engineering experience at an early-to-mid-career level Strong working knowledge of Python Experience designing, querying, and debugging applications backed by relational databases Familiarity with APIs, automated testing, Git, and collaborative software-development practices Experience using AI-assisted coding tools in real development work The ability to evaluate and validate generated code rather than accepting it automatically Strong debugging skills, including in an unfamiliar codebase, and the habit of asking what a bug did to customer data, then helping correct it An understanding of common application concerns such as authorization, concurrency, retries, idempotency, and failure handling Clear written and verbal communication A careful approach to systems that handle sensitive business and financial data Comfort working on a small team with broad ownership and changing priorities Curiosity, humility, and a willingness to ask questions, receive feedback, and learn new systems Nice to have Experience with Django or another Python web framework Experience with PostgreSQL, query analysis, and database-performance optimization Familiarity with Celery or another asynchronous job-processing system Experience with AWS, ECS, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines Experience with observability tools such as ClickStack, Sentry, or OpenTelemetry Experience with TypeScript, Angular, or another modern frontend framework Experience building or maintaining fintech, accounting, accounts-payable, payments, or ERP-integration software Experience working directly with customers, support teams, or other non-engineering stakeholders Familiarity with access controls, audit trails, data remediation, and safe bulk-data operations Experience supporting production systems or participating in incident investigation What Makes Someone Successful In This Role You'll thrive here if you are pragmatic, dependable, and comfortable working through ambiguity. You should enjoy understanding how systems behave in the real world—not just writing code from a ticket The strongest candidate will use AI to move faster while retaining ownership of the result. They will verify assumptions, test important behavior, consider failure cases, and communicate clearly when something remains uncertain We are not looking for someone who already knows every technology or financial concept we use. We're looking for a generally capable engineer with good instincts, customer empathy, and a strong learning mindset This role offers close collaboration and mentorship from experienced engineers, along with the opportunity to make a visible impact on a growing product and engineering team Benefits We care deeply about making Ottimate an incredible place to work and invest a significant amount of time and energy into creating and maintaining a company culture that provides our team with a generous level of support whilst inspiring them to do their best work. The specific benefits/perks we offer are continually evolving, but currently include: Salary Range: USD $130,000-155,000 (depending on level) per year + annual bonus Medical, Dental, Vision, and other Company-Subsidized Benefits for you and your family Employer-sponsored 401(k) with company match Paid Time Off (and the encouragement to use it) Promote from within philosophy Beyond the tangible benefits, though: You will be part of a growing team, at a pinnacle moment of scale for the business, and experience the excitement of working in a startup where each action makes a huge difference You will have the agency to solve difficult problems creatively, the freedom to explore work that inspires you, and infrastructure to ensure you're constantly challenged and developing You will work with sharp, passionate teammates solving some of the most unique challenges and positioning our product as a premier finance automation solution. Our commitment to empowering a diverse and inclusive workforce, celebrating differences, and creating a safe space for our employees to bring their whole selves to work is second to note We are transforming entire industries using innovative technology, including Artificial Intelligence, Payment Tech, and Neural Networks Our leaders lead with a people-first approach; inspiring excellence, nurturing ideas, and finding creative ways to eliminate obstacles for cultivating growth We truly love what we do and who we do it with - and we think you will too! Ottimate is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion. We do not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, religion, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, disability status, or marital status. If you are excited about the role but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply. Nothing in this job posting should be construed as an offer or guarantee of employment.

Experience integrating with third-party financial platforms, such as payment processors, card issuers, sponsor banks, or accounting systems. About us EggAI is a fast-growing, 100% remote AI consulting and development startup based in Munich. We build agentic AI solutions for enterprise clients. We are growing in several European markets at the same time, are actively building our internal structures — and are looking for someone to help shape this growth phase. Your role You are our go-to person for day-to-day accounting. You make sure every receipt, invoice and expense ends up in the right place — cost center, account, country — and you prepare everything so that our external tax advisor can book without back-and-forth. You work across several European countries, with employees and freelancers, and with local payroll providers. We don't have fully established processes yet, so you won't just follow a playbook: you spot gaps, think the process through and set it up yourself. You work closely with our Head of Finance, who owns controlling, forecasting and reporting, and with our external tax advisor, who handles ongoing bookkeeping, annual financial statements and German payroll. You ideally bring your own experience from a tax advisory firm or a similar environment. Your responsibilities ● Preparatory bookkeeping: Pre-code receipts and prepare them for ongoing bookkeeping by our tax advisor ● Receipt and invoice management: Collect receipts and incoming invoices, review them, and consistently follow up on open items ● Correct allocation: Make sure expenses are assigned to the correct cost center and the correct account in the chart of accounts ● Travel expenses across Europe: Manage per diems (meal allowances), mileage allowances and comparable expense rules across countries for our teams in Europe ● Employees & freelancers across Europe: Know the Europe-wide controlling and accounting topics that apply to employees and freelancers — or get up to speed on them quickly ● International payroll interface: Manage local payroll providers and salary payments ● Cash flow: Think along on cash flow structures & reporting, and keep them up to date ● Process setup: Independently think through and set up finance processes and structures in an international, growing environment What you bring Must have ● 4+ years of professional experience in finance & accounting ● German at a fluent professional level (C1/C2), including German accounting and tax terminology; English at least B1, as our team is diverse and English is often the working language ● Very good DATEV skills and solid understanding of the chart of accounts and correct account assignment ● Flexibility with tools: you quickly find your way around other systems such as Odoo ● You have owned finance and accounting topics end-to-end, without day-to-day guidance ● You are comfortable in gray areas and make good decisions even without complete information Nice to have ● Completed commercial vocational training or a degree with a focus on finance, accounting or controlling ● Understanding of how a balance sheet should be structured to be meaningful for investors — ideally through your own experience in a tax advisory firm or similar environment ● Exposure to controlling topics such as cost centers, forecasts or project margins ● Motivated, proactive and creative personality with a hands-on mentality — you want to shape things, not just administer them Why EggAI? ● 100% remote work in an international, highly motivated team ● Flat structures and direct access to the Head of Finance and the founders — short paths, fast decisions ● Freedom to shape: you help build the finance infrastructure of an AI scale-up from the ground up ● Insight into one of the most dynamic growth fields in tech and into building a company across Europe Sounds like you? We'd love to hear from you! If your profile looks like a good match we'll be in touch to organise a first stage interview. Adaptyv is building an automated lab that lets AI agents run biology experiments. We're entering the era of agentic science where AI models can now design novel proteins, propose hypotheses, and iterate on experimental results. But they can't run the experiments themselves - that's still a manual, months-long process. We're building the infrastructure that gives AI agents access to the physical world. We are one of the fastest growing biotech companies, trusted by leading biopharmas, frontier AI labs, and the techbio companies pushing the field forward. This is a rare chance to help advance some of the most important work happening in biotech today. Our automated lab is powered by a deep software + hardware stack: lab instruments worth millions of USD reverse-engineered into API-controllable hardware, dozens of devices orchestrated through complex workflows, full observability on everything that happens in the lab, processing pipelines for messy physical-world data, and AI systems that troubleshoot production results and accelerate assay development. We're growing rapidly and are hiring for talented people to scale and support the massive demand for AI-driven wet lab experimentation. About the Role We are building the most automated lab in the world, and that does not stop at the bench. A company that AI agents can run experiments in has to automate everything around the experiment too — procurement, hiring, admin, and finance. Finance is one of the most automatable functions in any company and almost nobody has actually done it. We intend to. That is the job: build an AI-powered finance stack. Our ledger, billing, cards and payroll all expose APIs, and we already close the books against them programmatically rather than by hand. You would take that much further, to where the model, the close, the cash view and the margin analysis largely run themselves, and your week goes on the decisions instead of the reconciliation. You would be our first finance hire, and it is hands-on. You will build the forecast, run the close across two entities, own cash, and be the person who can say what a protein actually costs us to make. What You'll Do Own the forecast. Both directions: bottom-up from lab capacity, throughput and price per protein, and top-down P&L, burn and runway. Own gross margin. What does an experiment actually cost us — DNA, reagents, consumables, instrument time, labour? Which products and which customers lose us money? Own pricing, with commercial. What we charge, why, and where the floor is. Pricing at a lab company is a finance question wearing a sales hat. Own the close. Group consolidation and intercompany management. Make it fast, make it correct, make it boring. Own cash. Bank and card accounts across Switzerland and the US, AP runs, AR collection, payment timing. Know where the money is and where it is going before anyone asks. Keep us compliant. Tax, VAT, audit, payroll, and the external firms we work with. You are not a lawyer or an accountant, but you know when to call one. Investor reporting, fundraising support, and treasury management. Equipment leasing and asset management. The lab runs on millions of francs of instruments. Lease or buy, how we finance it, what it does to the balance sheet, and keeping the asset register honest as we expand. Automate all of the above. What We're Looking For You have built a finance function, not just worked in one. Several years in finance at a startup that actually scaled, and ideally you were early enough to have set things up rather than inherited them. You can build a real model. Not a template. A model that ties operational reality — throughput, yield, capacity, headcount — to cash, and that survives someone pulling on it. You write code, or you are visibly about to. SQL at minimum, Python ideally. This is the hard requirement most finance candidates will fail, and we mean it. We run on Claude Code across the company, and every system finance touches has an API behind it. The best version of this person automates their own function, writes their own tooling, and finds leverage the rest of us have not thought of. If your instinct is that finance is a spreadsheet-and-portal job, we will frustrate each other. You understand the cost structure of a physical business. Reagents, instruments, consumables, capex versus COGS, yield loss. Lab, hardware, or manufacturing backgrounds all translate. Pure SaaS finance does not, on its own. Swiss and European finance experience. VAT, social charges, employment law. A US entity alongside a Swiss one is a plus. Ambitious, and in it for the company. We want someone who intends to be running finance at a much larger Adaptyv in three years, and who cares about what we are building rather than the title on the door. Trustworthy with everything. Salaries, revenue, investor communications, board material. All of it crosses your desk. Scope We are a small company and nobody here has clean edges around their job. You will end up in the lab, in a room with a customer, and every so often doing something that is nobody's job simply because it needs doing. The centre of gravity is the numbers: the model, the close, cash, margin, pricing, and the board pack. That is the part that is yours and the part we will judge the role on. Procurement is a separate hire and the two of you will be joined at the hip on cost, but the sourcing and the vendor relationships are not yours to run. One thing it is not: a bookkeeping seat. The mechanical layer is handled, and if that is the job you want, this one will bore you. Why This Role Is Interesting Most first-finance-hires at a startup spend three years cleaning up a SaaS P&L. Here, the finance question and the product question are the same question: an automated lab is a machine for converting money into experimental data, and how efficiently it does that is literally the business. You will be building the model of that machine, at a company that is about to expand it several-fold, while it is being used by the best pharma companies and the best AI labs in the world. And you will do it with a founding team that will hand you the API keys and get out of your way. Application deadline We are reviewing applicants on a rolling basis. About the Role We are going from roughly 25 people to roughly 50 in the next twelve months. We have close to 30 roles open right now, across protein scientists, lab automation engineers, backend and product engineers, ML people, and commercial. Hiring is currently run by the founders, on top of everything else the founders do. That is the single biggest thing standing between us and the company we're trying to build. This is the hire that fixes it, and we want to aim high with it. Not a recruiter who works a req list. Someone who owns talent as a function: what we hire for, how we assess it, how we pitch it, who does the recruiting, and what the org actually looks like on the other side of doubling. The hard part of this job is that our roles don't sit in one talent pool. In the same week you might be trying to find a protein biochemist who can read a sensorgram, an engineer who can make a liquid handler behave, and a backend engineer who has never touched biology. Those people read different signals, hang out in different places, and are sold with different pitches. You have to be able to hold all of that at once, and know which one you're talking to. We would love someone who can speak both languages well enough to spot exceptional people themselves. You don't need a PhD and you don't need to ship code. You do need enough real understanding of what our scientists and engineers actually do that you can tell the difference between someone who sounds impressive and someone who is. This is a Lausanne role. Most of the company is here, most of the people you'll hire will be here, and the job is much easier when you can walk over to a hiring manager and argue about a candidate in person. What You'll Do Own hiring end to end. Define what we're hiring for with the team, write and post the roles, build the pipeline, run the process, and close people. Build the recruiting team. As we scale, you'll hire and manage specialist recruiters, most likely a technical recruiter first. You'll be a player-coach for a long time before you're purely a manager. Own the inbound pipeline. We get a lot of applicants and a real share of them are strong. Right now good people can get lost in the pile. Making that never happen is one of the most valuable things you can do here. Run our work trials. A lot of our best hires come through paid work trials rather than interview loops. Scheduling them, matching them to the right people internally, and making them a great experience for the candidate is core to the job. Make the pitch. You'll often be the first human a candidate talks to. You're selling the mission, and you should genuinely believe it. Own Ashby and push it further. Our ATS is already wired into AI tooling: automated candidate scoring, assisted review, templated and scheduled candidate comms. You'll inherit that and be expected to make it better, not merely operate it. Work with hiring managers across biology, software, automation, and commercial. Different teams, different bars, different definitions of good. You'll help each of them get sharper about what they actually need. Build the parts of the org that hiring touches: leveling, compensation bands, interview structure, onboarding, and how we make offers. Fast and light, not corporate. What We're Looking For You've hired technical people at real depth, for several years, in a high-growth environment. You've owned searches that mattered and closed people who had other options. You can talk to scientists and to engineers. You understand enough biology and enough software or lab automation to run a credible conversation, ask a sharp follow-up, and form your own view of someone's quality. This is the thing we care most about and the thing most recruiters cannot do. You are not a mercenary. We are not looking for someone optimizing for placements or fee cycles. We want someone who cares about what we're building, who wants the company to be excellent in ten years, and who treats every hire as a long-term bet rather than a filled seat. You use AI tools seriously. We run on Claude Code and similar tooling across the company, including in hiring. The best version of this person is automating their own pipeline, writing their own scripts against Ashby, and finding leverage the rest of us haven't thought of. If your instinct is that recruiting is purely a human craft that shouldn't be automated, we'll frustrate each other. Self-starter, high autonomy. Nobody will hand you a prioritized req list. You'll figure out what's most broken, fix it, and tell us what you did. Fast learner. You'll be dropped into unfamiliar technical domains constantly and expected to get to a useful level of understanding quickly. Startup speed, not corporate process. Good candidates disappear in days. We'd rather move fast and occasionally be wrong than run a beautiful process that loses people. Good taste in people, and the confidence to hold a bar. Part of this job is telling a founder that the person they liked isn't good enough. Bonus: experience with the Swiss labor market, hiring in European biotech or deep tech, or building a talent function from nothing. What This Role Is Not Not a coordinator role. You'll do scheduling when it needs doing, but if that's what you want to do all day, this will bore you. Not a pure people or HR generalist role. Payroll, benefits, and Swiss employment admin exist and are mostly handled. Talent is the job. Not an agency-style seat. You're not filling reqs handed down to you. You're deciding, with the founders, what we should be hiring for at all. Why This Role Is Interesting Most talent leaders inherit a hiring machine and tune it. You'd be building one, at a company that is unusual enough to be genuinely fun to pitch: an automated lab that AI agents can run experiments in, used by the best pharma companies and the best AI labs in the world. The people you hire over the next two years will decide whether that works. There are not many jobs where the leverage is that direct.
