Staff Data Analyst
AssuredPalo Alto, United States46 days ago
Full TimeOn-siteMid$175,000 - $195,000 / Year
pythonrawssqlsnowflakedatabricks+9

Assured is on a mission to modernize insurance. Claims processing (i.e. should we pay this claim?), while often overlooked, is the foundation of the entire industry. It's currently highly manual, involving phone calls, faxes, and gut instinct, costing tens of billions of dollars a year. We can do better. At Assured, we provide large insurers with the software solutions they need to win in a modern, technology-driven world. From self-service claim-filing software to backend fraud detection, we're the engine that powers claims processing for some of the largest insurers in the world. The challenges we face are deep and diverse, from creating digital experiences that provide comfort and clarity to claimants at their most stressed and vulnerable to orchestrating large-scale ML-driven decision-making on billions of dollars of claims payments, life at Assured is dynamic, collaborative, and rewarding. Great decisions aren't built on intuition alone – they're built on data. As a Staff Data Analyst , you'll partner with teams across the organization to transform data into meaningful insights that drive smarter decisions. You'll help leaders understand business performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and measure the impact of strategic initiatives. The best analysts don't just report what happened – they help teams understand why it happened and what to do next. That's the kind of impact we're looking for in this role. Some of the Problems You'll Solve: 🧪 Which initiatives create the greatest impact? Design and analyze experiments, pilots, and performance evaluations that separate signal from noise and support confident decision-making. 📈 How healthy is the business? Build dashboards and reporting that provide leaders with visibility into operational performance, customer outcomes, and organizational health. 🔍 What trends should we be paying attention to? Analyze data across multiple sources to identify patterns, emerging opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement. 👥 What behaviors drive successful outcomes? Use segmentation, cohort analysis, and behavioral data to understand customers, users, or operational processes and identify opportunities to improve results. 🤝 How can data guide better decisions? Partner with stakeholders across departments to answer high-impact business questions, evaluate tradeoffs, and provide analytical recommendations. 🎯 What should we be measuring that we aren't today? Improve data quality, instrumentation, and reporting by identifying gaps in existing data collection and helping teams capture the information needed to make informed decisions. How You'll Make an Impact: 📊 Build confidence in business decisions by designing analyses and communicating insights that help teams understand what is working – and what isn't. 📈 Turn data into strategic direction by uncovering trends, identifying opportunities, and providing actionable recommendations. 📉 Create visibility into organizational performance through dashboards, reporting, and metrics that stakeholders rely on every day. 🤝 Partner with cross-functional teams to frame business problems, evaluate options, and ensure decisions are supported by data. 🎯 Develop meaningful metrics and reporting frameworks that enable teams to consistently measure success and track progress over time. 🔍 Identify opportunities to improve business processes, customer experiences, and operational efficiency through thoughtful analysis. 🧩 Bring clarity to complex problems by asking the right questions, exploring the data, and delivering insights that move the business forward. You'll Probably Thrive Here If You: 🧩 Use data to drive decisions. You have a track record of solving complex business problems through thoughtful analysis and influencing decisions with data. 📊 Have strong analytical fundamentals. SQL is a core part of your toolkit, and you're comfortable working with large datasets to uncover meaningful insights. 📈 Think beyond reporting. You don't just build dashboards – you investigate root causes, identify opportunities, and recommend actions. 💬 Communicate with clarity. You can explain analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences and help stakeholders make informed decisions. 🤝 Enjoy solving ambiguous problems. You're comfortable starting with a business question—not a predefined report—and determining what data, analyses, or metrics are needed to answer it. 🔄 Adapt quickly to new tools and technologies. You enjoy learning new platforms and approaches and focus on solving problems rather than relying on a specific technology stack. 🛠 Bring experience with modern analytics tools. Experience with SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar analytics platforms is a plus, but not required. Great analysts learn new tools. Great critical thinking is harder to teach. Benefits: 🤑 Competitive Compensation: Competitive salary and equity packages for all employees 🏥 Healthcare Plan: Platinum medical, dental, and vision 🛡️ Free life insurance: Including long-term disability & short-term disability 🏄 Unlimited PTO: Uncapped vacation days & paid holidays 👶 Family Leave: Maternity & paternity 📈 401(k) Contribution: Assured contributes 3% of your income, even if you don't contribute 🏠 WFH Benefits: Lunch on us 2x/week, monthly phone stipend & other home office perks 👪 Health FSAs & HSAs: Pre-tax accounts for out-of-pocket medical expenses 🤝 Team events & Offsites: We're remote, but we regularly get together *We have been made aware of individuals falsely posing as recruiters from Assured Insurance Technologies Inc. We're looking for a support in an upcoming German project for the next 6-12 monts. As our People Operations Executive for Germany, you'll own the accurate, on-time running of our monthly German payroll and be the trusted first point of contact for our German employees' questions on pay, benefits, and everything across the employee lifecycle. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role for someone who takes real pride in getting things right, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and genuinely enjoys making colleagues feel looked after. You're fluent in German and English, bring hands-on experience of German payroll and employment regulations, and are comfortable handling administrative tasks as part of your responsibilities. Ensure payroll compliance with German payroll and employment legislation (income tax, social security contributions, and other statutory requirements) and keep on top of regulatory changes. Maintain meticulous payroll records and support year-end processes and statutory reporting requirements for Germany. Employee queries & support: Be the friendly, reliable first responder for questions from our German employees on payroll, benefits, and lifecycle matters, resolving them promptly and clearly in German and English so everyone feels supported. Advise employees on people policies and processes, escalating the genuinely complex or sensitive with good judgement and discretion. Spot recurring questions and turn them into self-serve answers, FAQs, and clearer documentation. Benefits: Administer our benefits programmes for German employees day to day, including enrolments, changes, leavers, and provider liaison. Help employees understand and make the most of what's on offer. Support benefits renewals and improvements, keeping records accurate throughout. Employee lifecycle: Process joiners, leavers, and employee changes within Germany, and deliver a smooth, engaging experience across the full lifecycle, including onboarding, contractual changes, family leave, and offboarding. Prepare accurate documentation (contracts, letters, changes to terms) in line with German employment regulations, and keep our HRIS (Hibob) clean and up to date at all times.
