Finance Intern (Summer 2027)
GustoNew York, NY - Hybrid (Hybrid)14 days ago
InternshipHybridMid$4,160 - $6,240 / Year

About Gusto At Gusto, we're on a mission to grow the small business economy. We handle the hard stuff — payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR — so owners can focus on their craft and their customers. With teams in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, we support more than 500,000 small businesses nationwide and are building a workplace that reflects the people we serve. All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs) — because everyone who helps build Gusto should share in its success. Offer amounts are determined by role, level, and location. Learn more about our Total Rewards philosophy . AI is a fundamental part of how work gets done at Gusto. We expect all team members to actively engage with AI tools relevant to their role and grow their fluency as the technology evolves. AI experience requirements vary by role and will be assessed during the interview process. About the Role: As a Finance Intern on Gusto's Finance, BizOps & Strategy (FBOS) team, you'll spend 12 weeks working on real projects that shape how we run the business. You'll support leaders in Customer Experience, EPD, and Corporate Development, helping turn financial data into decisions about margin, cost to serve, and resourcing. Day to day, that means building financial reports, analyzing costs to find savings, and partnering with teams across Gusto on projects that move the team's roadmap forward. Along the way, you'll use AI tools and automation to work faster and go deeper than a traditional finance internship allows. You'll be paired with a dedicated mentor and a team manager who will support you from onboarding through your final presentation. By the end of the summer, you'll have seen firsthand how finance works as a true partner to the business. Please note: We'll be offering only one cohort start and end date (Cohort 1: May 17, 2027 - August 6, 2027). Deadline to Apply: Monday, October 26th at 4:00 pm PST About the Team: You'll join Gusto's Finance, BizOps & Strategy (FBOS) team, which provides financial, operational, and strategic support at the corporate, department, and product level as we scale to serve even more customers. Our partners sit directly inside business orgs like Customer Experience, EPD, and Corporate Development, translating financial data into operating decisions on margin, cost to serve, and resourcing. As Gusto evolves into an AI native company, we're using automation, predictive insights, and smarter data systems to define and defend our business model while accelerating growth. As a Finance Intern, you'll see firsthand how finance works as a true partner to the business rather than a back office function. Here's what you'll do day-to-day: Work cross-functionally on high-impact projects that use data, automation, and AI-powered tools Build and maintain recurring financial/operational reporting for your partner org Analyze cost or margin drivers and summarize findings for non-finance stakeholders Support a defined roadmap project end-to-end alongside your mentor Partner with CX/EPD/Corp Dev counterparts on data requests and ad hoc analysis Here's what we're looking for: Rising junior or senior (entering your 3rd or 4th year after this internship) Demonstrates genuine interest in financial trends, technology innovation, and applying classroom knowledge to real business challenges Comfortable working in Excel/Google Sheets; curious about how AI tools can speed up analysis work Strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate findings clearly to non-finance stakeholders Self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment Our cash compensation amount for this role is $32.70/hr for undergraduate students in Denver and $42.07/hr for undergraduate students in New York. At Gusto, we don't use titles the traditional way, as a signal of rank or hierarchy. Instead, our titles describe two things at once — your craft (what you do, e.g. Engineering, Design) and your scope of ownership (what you're accountable for) — which is why you'll see something like "Head of X" instead of a rank word like "Director" that tells you neither. Because of this, the title on this posting may look different from what you'd expect based on the scope and seniority of the role, and from how similar roles are typically titled elsewhere. If you have questions about how this role compares to your current title or level, your recruiter can help translate. Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale. Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.  When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required. This includes non-office days for hybrid employees. Reliable, consistent presence: We expect regular and predictable attendance, whether you're working in-office, hybrid, or fully remote, so that you stay closely connected to your team, customers, and stakeholders in real time and ensure colleagues and customers receive the timely support and responsiveness they deserve. Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for small businesses, you will find a home at Gusto.  Gusto is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate in hiring or any employment decision based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other applicable legally protected characteristic. Gusto considers qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state and local law. Gusto is also committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures. We want to see our candidates perform to the best of their ability. If you require a medical or religious accommodation at any time throughout your candidate journey, please fill out this form and a member of our team will get in touch with you. Gusto takes security and protection of your personal information very seriously. Please review our Fraudulent Activity Disclaimer . Personal information collected and processed as part of your Gusto application will be subject to  Gusto's Applicant Privacy Notice .

Senior Software Engineer, Distributed Databases
CloudflareAustin, TX, London, United Kingdom, Seattle, WA (Fully Remote)14 days ago
InternshipFully RemoteSenior
gorustcloudflaresqlmysqlpostgresql+3

About Us At Cloudflare, we are on a mission to help build a better Internet. Today the company runs one of the world's largest networks that powers millions of websites and other Internet properties for customers ranging from individual bloggers to SMBs to Fortune 500 companies. Cloudflare protects and accelerates any Internet application online without adding hardware, installing software, or changing a line of code. Internet properties powered by Cloudflare all have web traffic routed through its intelligent global network, which gets smarter with every request. As a result, they see significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks. Cloudflare was named to Entrepreneur Magazine's Top Company Cultures list and ranked among the World's Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company. At Cloudflare, we're not looking for people who wait for a polished roadmap; we're looking for the builders who see the cracks in the Internet that everyone else has simply learned to live with. We value candidates who have the instinct to spot a "normalized" problem and the AI-native curiosity to create a solution using the latest tools. Our culture is built on iteration, leveraging AI to ship faster today to make it better tomorrow, while ensuring that every improvement, no matter how small, is shared across the team to lift everyone up. If you're the type of person who values curiosity over bureaucracy, and that AI is a partner in solving tough problems to keep the Internet moving forward, you'll fit right in. Available Locations: Austin, TX | Seattle, WA | London, UK About the Role Cloudflare's Developer Platform powers stateful, data-intensive applications across our network. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work across the database stack, from query planning and execution to transaction processing and durable storage. You'll make decisions that shape the consistency, durability, and latency guarantees that customer applications rely on. Correctness under concurrency and failure is central to the role. You'll define and implement how queries read and modify data, how concurrent transactions become visible, and how durable state is recovered. You'll validate these systems using deterministic simulation, workload testing, and evidence from production. Responsibilities Improve query planning and execution, including index selection, row reads and writes, and performance as data volumes and access patterns change. Build transaction and storage paths that make writes durable and reads consistent. Define when changes become visible, how commits survive failure, and how recovery restores a correct view of the data. Design deterministic simulations that make rare event orderings and failures reproducible. Plan stateful upgrades that cannot be reversed by rolling back software. Carry them through staged rollout, failover, and recovery without putting existing data at risk. Participate in the service's on-call rotation and incident response. Own major changes from design through production. Coordinate implementation across teams when a change spans multiple parts of the service, and help trace failures across those parts. Mentor other engineers through design reviews, debugging, and incident analysis involving concurrency, durability, and recovery. Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Experience You have owned a database, storage engine, transaction system, or similarly correctness-sensitive stateful system from architecture through production. You can make architecture and implementation decisions when requirements or system boundaries are incomplete. You understand how query execution, indexing, transaction processing, and durable state shape what developers and operators observe. You understand how concurrency control, isolation, replication, and snapshots shape consistency, durability, and recovery. You can apply those concepts when operations arrive out of order, components fail independently, or the network partitions. You write and debug concurrent production software in Rust, Go, C++, or another systems language. You can trace failures across process, network, and durable-state boundaries. You have operated stateful systems through rollouts, scaling events, incidents, and recovery. You know the difference between transient unavailability and incomplete or incorrect recovery, and when a system is safe to return to service. You have led investigations where failures crossed systems owned by several teams. Bonus Points You've worked on the internals of PostgreSQL, MySQL, Amazon Aurora, or another relational database and can trace a SQL operation from planning through commit. Your work on transaction processing or concurrency control has included defining snapshot visibility and recovery behavior. You've profiled database workloads and traced performance bottlenecks from query execution through durable storage. You've used deterministic simulation or another systematic method to uncover distributed-systems bugs that conventional tests missed. What Makes Cloudflare Special? We're not just a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company. We're a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company with a soul. Fundamental to our mission to help build a better Internet is protecting the free and open Internet. Project Galileo : Since 2014, we've equipped more than 2,400 journalism and civil society organizations in 111 countries with powerful tools to defend themselves against attacks that would otherwise censor their work, technology already used by Cloudflare's enterprise customers--at no cost. Athenian Project : In 2017, we created the Athenian Project to ensure that state and local governments have the highest level of protection and reliability for free, so that their constituents have access to election information and voter registration. Since the project, we've provided services to more than 425 local government election websites in 33 states. 1.1.1.1 : We released 1.1.1.1 to help fix the foundation of the Internet by building a faster, more secure and privacy-centric public DNS resolver. This is available publicly for everyone to use - it is the first consumer-focused service Cloudflare has ever released. Here's the deal - we don't store client IP addresses never, ever. We will continue to abide by our privacy commitment and ensure that no user data is sold to advertisers or used to target consumers. Sound like something you'd like to be a part of? We'd love to hear from you! Please note that applicants who progress to the offer stage of the interview process may be asked to attend an in-person interview within one of the Cloudflare Offices or Cloudflare Hubs.  More details about this will be available at that stage of the interview process. This position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws, including the U.S. Export Administration Regulations. Please note that any offer of employment may be conditioned on your authorization to receive software or technology controlled under these U.S. export laws without sponsorship for an export license. Cloudflare is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.  We are committed to providing equal employment opportunity for all people and place great value in both diversity and inclusiveness.  All qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard to their, or any other person's, perceived or actual race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, family care status, or any other basis protected by law. We are an AA/Veterans/Disabled Employer. Cloudflare provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities.  Please tell us if you require a reasonable accommodation to apply for a job. Examples of reasonable accommodations include, but are not limited to, changing the application process, providing documents in an alternate format, using a sign language interpreter, or using specialized equipment.  If you require a reasonable accommodation to apply for a job, please contact us via e-mail at hr@cloudflare.com or via mail at 101 Townsend St. San Francisco, CA 94107.

About Us Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data. Together, we're delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data — from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on. Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions. As we bring our teams and technology together, we're building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. It's an exciting time to join us: we're creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact. During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites. About the Role We're looking for a Partner Solutions Architect to own the global technical relationship with Snowflake and Databricks. Snowflake and Databricks are two of Fivetran + dbt Labs' largest platform alliances. This is a global role scoped to those two partners. For each, you will own the technical alliance plan worldwide, the joint technical narrative, and our joint integration and roadmap priorities with each partner to drive cosell revenue. You will also own our technical presence at major milestones such as Snowflake Summit and Databricks Data + AI Summit, our two largest partner events. Functionally, the role sits at the intersection of field engineering, product management, partnerships, and partner marketing. Your closest counterparts are the global alliance managers for Snowflake and Databricks, the regional partner sales managers who run the Snowflake and Databricks motions in AMER, EMEA and APJ, the geo partner solutions architects, and product managers across both product lines. You will report to the global head of partner solutions architecture. This is a full-time position, which can be either remote (US) or hybrid depending on location. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team. What You'll Do Own the global technical alliance plans for Snowflake and Databricks. Build each plan with the partner's alliance and product leadership, agree it with our own, and drive it through both field organizations. Own the joint technical narrative and the capability messaging for the combined dbt + Fivetran platform on Snowflake and Databricks, including reference architectures, integration patterns, and the joint value story that partners and sellers use with customers. Build reusable collateral, playbooks and enablement assets for the broader partner solutions architecture team and for the partners delivering on Snowflake and Databricks. Maintain a single, current view of integration state, gaps and opportunities across the combined platform on Snowflake and Databricks, covering ingestion, transformation, Fusion, the semantic layer, catalog and metadata, open table formats, and agent and MCP interfaces, and collaborate with our Product organization to drive the right outcomes. Serve as the primary technical counterpart to the partner engineering and partner product teams at Snowflake and Databricks, and run the standing technical cadence with each. Own our technical presence at Snowflake Summit and Databricks Data + AI Summit, including hands-on labs, sessions, demos, and the technical readiness of the team who staff each event. Partner with the regional Partner Solutions Architects and Partnerships organization so global alliance strategy turns into regional execution, and so they can run the motion without you in the room. Travel approximately 30% for alliance planning, technical workshops, executive meetings and partner events, including international travel.   Skills We're Looking For 6+ years in solutions architecture, sales engineering, partner engineering, technical product management, developer relations, or another customer-facing technical role in data and analytics. Fluency across the modern data stack (ingestion, transformation, orchestration, warehouses and lakehouses, open table formats, semantic layers, catalogs, BI, and the emerging agent and MCP layer) and the ability to explain how the pieces fit. Hands-on knowledge of Snowflake and/or Databricks, plus strong SQL and data modeling fundamentals, with genuine technical credibility in front of partner engineers. Sound product and strategic judgment and reasoning Strong presentation and facilitation skills for workshops, hands-on labs, keynote-adjacent sessions and large partner technical audiences. Proven ability to drive outcomes in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with multiple stakeholders Bonus Skills Experience owning a technical alliance, with a track record of shaping what a partner built and how the two products fit together Experience with partner-facing APIs, SDKs, drivers, or integration certification programs Background in product management or technical product marketing alongside a field engineering career Familiarity with cloud marketplace motions and co-sell programs The compensation range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire compensation for the target position and level, and may include sales incentives or target bonuses depending on the role.  Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
