Apaleo is the world's most open, API-first property management platform powering the next generation of hospitality operations. Its modular, AI-powered infrastructure enables hoteliers to customise their tech stack, automate routine work, and deliver seamless, personalised guest experiences, powered by best-in-class apps and autonomous AI agents that adapt to every stay. Why this role You are the technical voice in front of strategic customers, at a moment when hospitality is being rebuilt around AI. We are launching our own AI agent platform, and we need architects who can show operators what comes next. High trust. You own the technical answer in front of strategic customers and deals. High visibility. Your work shows up in deals, key accounts and customer stories, and it reaches Product. High freedom. You decide how to solve a problem, which tools to use and what to prototype. Fast iteration. We test ideas within days, try new technology early and share what works. Your mission Win and grow strategic accounts with technical credibility, and turn what you learn in the field into input for the product. You look at a customer's current architecture and show how an Apaleo-centred setup delivers their goals. You also help them put AI agents to work, deciding what should be an agent, what it costs and how to set it up. Sales and Account Management own the relationship and the commercial terms. You own the technical answer. What you will do Technical discovery and solution scoping. Lead discovery where a standard demo is not enough. Write clear scopes covering what Apaleo delivers natively, what needs a short-term solution and what is out of scope. Proofs of concept. Build fast, working proofs of concept (quick demos that show technical fit). Agree scope in writing first, and build in a safe test environment, never with live guest data. Agents and automations. Design and build agents and automations for customer use cases, using n8n or Make today and Apaleo's own AI agent platform as it launches. Write code where agents need deterministic steps. Hands-on delivery and short-term solutions. Work alongside the customer, building only where it unblocks a named deal, removes an adoption risk or fills a product gap. Agree an exit plan (an end date, a replacement and a named owner) before you start. Post-sale health checks and expansions. Diagnose gaps against the go-live specification, run proactive checks (for example 90 days after go-live) and scope integrations for expanding customers. Reusable assets. Turn every engagement into a reference architecture, pattern or template that the next twenty customers can use. Thought leadership. Join prospect and customer conversations on how AI will change hospitality over the next two to three years. Product feedback. Test new technology on real customer problems. Share prototypes and field evidence with Product, ending every experiment with a clear decision: adopt, hand over or drop. How you work You decide the approach, the stack and the order of work. You protect three guardrails: written scope before a proof of concept, an exit plan before a custom build and no commercial promises. You go from idea to prototype in days and show it early. You think in systems and build for reuse, not one-off projects. You share findings openly with Sales, Account Management and Product. Who you work with Sales/BD and Account Management (they call you in at defined deal triggers), Customer Success, Product, Security, Partnerships, RevOps and Senior Leadership. What you bring Must have Multiple years in solution architecture, solution engineering or technical consulting in B2B SaaS, ideally with complex software such as ERP or enterprise platforms Strong API skills: REST, authentication, webhooks and events, and data-flow design Hands-on workflow automation (n8n preferred) and practical experience building with LLM agents A systems thinker with real AI curiosity, who uses AI tools day to day Stakeholder management experience and credibility with executives and IT teams Self-direction, an ownership mindset and the discipline to say no to scope that does not advance a deal Curiosity that ends in working prototypes, not just opinions Clear, structured documentation habits Fluent English and French skills Willingness to travel, including regularly to France and the UK Strong plus Hospitality or travel experience, including hotel operations and PMS concepts (reservations, folios, rate plans, night audit) Experience with another cloud PMS, channel manager or payments integrations Enterprise architecture experience on large, multi-site projects Applied AI or ML background, or experience with MCP and agent platforms SQL and BI fundamentals How we measure success Architecture engagements and blueprints delivered each quarter Customer satisfaction with your contribution Adoption of recommended apps, integrations and agents Share of engagements served by an existing reusable pattern Revenue impact e.g. deal unblocked, AI adoption, or churn averted Your first 90 days Days 1 to 30: Learn the platform and ways of working, shadow discovery and proof of concept work, and take over open customer projects. Days 31 to 60: Lead technical discovery on live deals and run your first health check with Account Management. Days 61 to 90: Deliver a proof of concept or short-term solution end to end with an exit plan, and share your first experiment with Product. What We Offer Culture & Growth A Diverse & International Team: Work alongside passionate professionals from over 20 nationalities, bringing unique cultural perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences to shape the future of hospitality tech. Growth & Development: As we scale, so do your opportunities. You'll benefit from 360° feedback reviews, a dedicated learning budget, and plenty of chances to take on more responsibility. Our salaries are competitive and guided by benchmarking data to ensure fairness across all roles and teams. We make sure to recognize and reward performance and contribution. Perks & Lifestyle Flexible & Remote Work Options: We focus on results, not clocking hours. The Team + The Role Pendo's Customer Engineering team is the technical backbone of the pre- and post-sales customer motion. The team brings together work across Customer Success, Technical Account Management, and Solutions Engineering into one full-lifecycle technical owner. Customer Engineering helps customers connect technical execution to business outcomes and realize the value of their investment in Pendo. As a Senior Customer Engineer you will own strategic and complex Enterprise accounts across acquisition, implementation, adoption, expansion, and escalation. You will lead technical strategy for complex deployments, resolve ambiguous customer challenges, and partner closely with account teams to drive retention, expansion, and customer value. Your impact will extend beyond your own accounts through playbooks, coaching, repeatable fixes, and workflow improvements that raise the capability of the broader Customer Engineering team. This role is based in our London office. What this looks like day-to-day New customer acquisition and selling: Partner with Account Directors on pre-sales motions for new customer acquisition, product expansion, and growth across lines of business. You identify customer pain, craft and deliver tailored demos, and lead technical evaluations through requirements gathering, success criteria, installation guidance, and hands-on workshops. Quarterly business outcomes: Drive measurable improvement in customer health, retention, expansion, and technical resolution across strategic accounts. You contribute at least one reusable framework, playbook, or process that other Customer Engineers use and become a trusted advisor to Account Directors on account health and technical strategy. Adoption, expansion, and growth: Identify opportunities to expand adoption across underutilized features, untapped products, and new lines of business. When adoption stalls, you diagnose root causes, design a path forward, and connect technical work to measurable business outcomes. Complex implementations and value realization: Lead onboarding for strategic customers, including planning, implementation, integrations, and training. You build customer-specific implementation playbooks, guide complex deployments with executive visibility, and ensure customers realize value during onboarding and over time. Team capability building: Build playbooks, document repeatable fixes, coach peers, and improve how Customer Engineering work gets done across the team. You use AI tools to accelerate content creation, surface patterns across accounts, and share practical workflow findings with the broader team. Early account impact: Assess account health, risks, stakeholder relationships, and the highest-priority problems to solve within your portfolio. You establish trust with Account Directors and customer stakeholders, then independently lead complex customer interactions that move accounts forward. Technical escalation: Serve as an escalation point for complex technical challenges raised by other Customer Engineers. You resolve ambiguous problems with multiple variables and tradeoffs, involving Product or Engineering only when truly needed. Who You Are Beyond the qualifications, we hire through a specific lens. These aren't buzzwords; they're the things we'll actually look for in how you talk about your work. You're a builder, not a maintainer. You're most energized when there isn't a clear path yet, and you get to define it. You don't wait for direction; you identify gaps, shape solutions, and drive them forward. At Pendo, great Senior Customer Engineers don't just follow instructions; they operate as strategic advisors, influencing decisions, guiding stakeholders, and elevating how we work. You're AI-curious - genuinely. You're not using AI tools occasionally. You're rewiring how you work around them. You're faster, sharper, and more prolific because of it, and you bring that energy to everything — how you approach your work, how you prep, how you communicate, how you think. We want someone who sees AI as a multiplier, not a shortcut. Must-haves Passion for working with customers and building strong and impactful customer relationships 5 to 8 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineering, Technical Account Management, Customer Engineering, implementation, professional services, or solutions architecture. Deep hands-on experience with web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and REST APIs, with the ability to architect and troubleshoot complex front-end implementations. Proven experience managing strategic Enterprise accounts with executive-level stakeholders, competing priorities, and complex technical or business requirements. Demonstrated ability to solve ambiguous problems involving multiple variables, constraints, and tradeoffs. Experience connecting technical execution to business outcomes such as retention, expansion, ROI, and value realization. Hands-on use of AI tools for account research, content creation, or workflow automation, with demonstrated integration into day-to-day work rather than light experimentation. Experience mentoring or coaching more junior technical team members. Nice-to-haves Experience with Pendo, digital adoption platforms, product analytics, or in-app experience tooling in an enterprise environment. Hands-on experience with mobile app development, including Swift, Android, or React Native. Familiarity with data architecture, AI or machine learning concepts, or advanced analytics instrumentation. Track record of building reusable frameworks, playbooks, or processes that were adopted by a broader team. About Pendo Pendo was founded in 2013 by former product managers, who combined their heads and hearts to build something they wanted but never had as product managers: a simple way to understand and attack what truly drives product success. Our mission is to improve society's experience with software. Pendo Core Values: Bias to Act, Hone Your Craft, The Team is Pendo, and Maniacal Focus. Location: Pendo is a hybrid culture. We're digitizing the construction industry – are you in? At VESTIGAS, you build the digital backbone of the construction supply chain. We turn purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices into a digital, legally compliant platform used in everyday operations by construction companies and suppliers. You'll work on a product with real market traction in the DACH mid-market, ship iteratively, and take ownership of solutions that must work in the field – not just in theory. Your Role As Chapter Lead AI Engineering, you'll own the AI infrastructure and capabilities that power our supply chain platform end to end – from pipeline design to production deployment. You bring experience in technical leadership and take responsibility for the AI engineering chapter across Scrum teams, shaping architecture, aligning technical standards, and enabling engineers to build dependable AI systems. This is a hands-on technical leadership role. The Technical Challenge Your chapter will tackle problems like extracting structured data reliably from many different documents, building uncertainty estimation so the system knows when to flag a document for human review instead of silently guessing, and automatically reconciling purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices against each other – all within legal and compliance requirements that leave no room for "close enough". This is a domain where clean benchmark metrics mean far less than robustness against real documents nobody has seen before – and you'll set the technical direction for how the chapter navigates that trade-off, deciding where to push automation further and where human review still matters. Agentic AI systems that plan, use tools, and act on their own are an increasingly important part of this work as well. Your Mission Provide technical leadership for the AI engineering chapter, own its technical direction and strengthen shared engineering practices across Scrum teams Own MLOps processes and infrastructure, ensuring our AI systems are reliable, scalable, and secure Drive the design and implementation of advanced AI features, partner closely with engineering and product leadership to deploy machine learning models and data pipelines Set the bar for accuracy, efficiency, and uncertainty estimation of our AI features through rigorous testing practices Ensure the scalability, maintainability, and core functionality of our AI solutions – and drive the build of new ones from scratch Translate customer needs into technical priorities and represent AI engineering in strategic product and sales discussions Establish and evolve engineering standards, tooling, and quality practices across the chapter Mentor fellow AI engineers through technical feedback, pairing, and knowledge sharing Champion the use of modern AI tools such as Claude or Cursor across the chapter Your Profile Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; alternatively, an equivalent education You have at least five years of AI engineering experience, including one year of technical leadership, with practical responsibility spanning the AI lifecycle and MLOps Demonstrated ownership of technical decisions, with the ability to align engineers across teams and mentor peers Hands-on expertise in natural language processing and image processing Strong Python skills and experience with Azure; Terraform experience is a plus A passion for generative AI, OCR, and building customer-focused solutions A habit of writing clean, well-tested code with an eye on what happens after deployment Solid understanding of AI agents, tools, and their limitations Fluent English and German (C1 or above) Willingness to work from our Munich office at least two days a week Your Benefits Real ownership instead of micromanagement. You shape, you decide, and you see the impact of your work directly in the market. Direct line to founders and leadership. Flat hierarchies are our everyday reality – short paths, fast decisions. AI-First workflow. Copilot, Claude, Cursor & co. are standard tools for us. We expect and support their use. Hybrid work with an office in the heart of Munich, just around the corner from Theresienwiese. Flexible setup with regular office presence – because we believe the best ideas happen in person.
