Software Engineer (Data)
NEW
BenLondon, Germanyyesterday
Full TimeOn-siteMid
pythongoreactdjangoawsecs+14

Our Mission We're not your average benefits platform – we're the driving force that uplifts people's lives. Our technology connects the entire benefits ecosystem, creating better outcomes for employers, employees, brokers, and providers. Our mission is clear: to build a world where everything works at its best, ensuring every employee gets the support they need to thrive—both at work and beyond. Your Mission As our Software Engineer (Data) , you'll build and run the pipelines, orchestration, and infrastructure that move data across Ben: in from our product and the tools we use, in from our customers, and back out to them again. It's the plumbing the whole company and our customers depend on, and it has to stay reliable. We serve global enterprise customers with strict security and reliability requirements. You'll own real work from day one. You'll have a strong team of cross functional engineers alongside you, room to grow into harder problems, and the freedom to do the job your way. What you'll be working on Own everything that flows into Ben: build and maintain the ingestion pipelines that bring data into our warehouse, with Fivetran for managed sources and custom pipelines where we need them. Keep everything running on time: own the orchestration that keeps data moving on schedule and recovers cleanly when something breaks. Scale and manage our data infrastructure: build and manage our data infrastructure as code with Terraform, using mainly AWS services. Connect Ben to every system our customers run: build enterprise-grade pipelines and connectors for our customers, bringing their data in, for example from HR and payroll systems, and getting accurate data back out to them, reliably and securely, even at the volumes large customers bring. Build the data layer our agents act on: help connect our data to the AI agents and services we're building, including through MCP connectors, so they get the right context at the right time. Shape what we build: work with product and other stakeholders to scope problems and agree on simple but scalable solutions. Build it to enterprise standard: build to current security practice, for example the OWASP Top 10 and the AWS Well-Architected Framework. Behind the scenes Ben runs on Python 3, Django, PostgreSQL, and React, on AWS. Our data platform today is built around Fivetran, AWS DMS or custom pipelines for ingestion, dbt for transformation, PostgreSQL on AWS RDS as the warehouse, and n8n or AWS Lambda for automation between systems. We manage our infrastructure as code with Terraform and use different AWS services depending on requirements. We have adopted frontier level agentic development practices and continue to push the envelope of what's possible with current technologies. Your skills and experience Strong experience with Python and SQL . A few years building and running production data pipelines that other people relied on. Comfortable with infrastructure as code , ideally Terraform, and hands-on with AWS, for example Lambda, ECS, Glue, S3, RDS. A good grasp of ETL/ELT and orchestration . Experience building or running data integrations and connectors , especially ones that other companies or customers depend on, is a real plus. Solid software engineering fundamentals : clean code, sensible design, and tests you can rely on. You keep security in mind when you build applications and configure infrastructure, and you know what enterprise customers expect of their data. Nice to have, not essential : Experience working on customer-facing data integrations such as HRIS or payroll feeds via SFTP and in EDI format Experience with MCP server development , or different ways of preparing data for AI agents such as ontology modelling, context, knowledge graphs, and semantic layers. We don't expect all of it. We do expect curiosity about it. Why join us? Ben's customers are large enterprise employers, and the hundreds of thousands of people who work for them rely on us to get their benefits right, every time. That depends on data moving accurately between their systems and ours, every cycle. You get to work on the data infrastructure that makes this run like clockwork. At the same time, Ben is an AI-native organisation. Agents are already doing a lot of impactful work here, and they can only do it on data they can trust. That raises questions a dashboard never had to answer. How fresh does this need to be for an agent to act on it? How do you match the same entity across tools? How do you control what an agent is allowed to see? Very few engineers have answered those in production. You'd be one of them. You'll take ownership of large, complex problem spaces, help design how they scale, and build an agentic layer few engineers have built anywhere yet, and you'll see the impact of it: Ben supports hundreds of thousands of people across 30+ countries. Our Compensation & Benefits It's important to us to practise what we preach when it comes to benefits. We know what good looks like and we want to provide the best for our team, with a comprehensive and inclusive benefits package. You'll have a choice over the things that are most important to you. You can see a selection below, with the full offering here . 💰 Competitive base salary + equity, so you own what you build ⭐ Bonus scheme designed to reward and recognise high performance 💳 £100 monthly personal Ben Balance: for whatever works for you, whether that's Netflix, Spotify, or a really expensive cup of coffee! This allowance will increase by £50 for each year of service until you reach £250 🍔 Weekly lunch provided in office so you can spend quality time with the team over some tasty food! 🏖 28 days of holidays a year plus bank holidays, and an option to buy or sell 5 days per year. Your holiday entitlement increases to 30 days at your 3rd year of service! 🌴 Work-from-abroad scheme, so you can support your travels, enjoy an extended holiday, or visit loved ones. 🍼 Enhanced parental leave and workplace nursery scheme to support with the cost of childcare in a nursery setting ❤️ Comprehensive Private Medical Insurance 💌 Funded Life Assurance cover with the option to voluntarily increase. This also includes an annual health check 🧠 Comprehensive mental health support and professional coaching through a leading provider Diversity and Culture at Ben We are organically growing a brilliantly diverse, inclusive and respectful bunch of people we are extremely proud of. This should go without saying, but all applications are very much welcome. Senior Software Engineer, Operations Foundations
Full TimeOn-siteSenior

About Wolt At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we're building the delivery of (almost) everything and you'll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe. Working at Wolt isn't always easy, but it's definitely exciting. Here you'll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You'll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you're a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life. Wolt is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Front-end-leaning) to join our Operations Foundations team. The team sits within the DoorDash Client and AI Development group and is responsible for the foundation that hundreds of engineers across Wolt, DoorDash, and Deliveroo rely on to build internal operations tools. Our platform hosts 250+ micro-frontends (MFEs) used to operate every part of the business. Our team is focused on building a scalable, reliable, and high-quality internal tooling platform that supports Wolt, DoorDash, and Deliveroo's operations and business. The team plays an important role in improving how engineers build, test, and ship software across the organization, with a strong emphasis on reusable libraries, micro-frontend architecture, and agentic development: building the platform where AI agents can take changes from task to merged PR safely and reliably without lowering the quality bar. Currently, we are focused on unifying our frontend platforms, evolving shared components and library development, improving developer productivity, and enabling teams to deliver more independently through better architecture and tooling. It's an exciting time to join because the team has strong ownership and a broad technical impact. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can take ownership of complex technical initiatives across both frontend and sometimes backend and infra domains. In this role, you'll work primarily with TypeScript, React, Node.js, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Buildkite), and MFE architecture to build scalable, maintainable solutions that support multiple product teams and business areas. Success in this role means becoming a trusted technical owner who consistently delivers reliable solutions and helps the team execute more effectively. Six months into the role, we'd expect you to be independently leading technical initiatives and contributing meaningfully to architecture and delivery planning. This role offers the opportunity to solve challenging engineering problems with visible impact across the business. It's especially exciting for someone who enjoys combining product engineering with platform thinking, improving developer workflows, and building systems that scale across teams and domains. What you'll be doing Owning the Foundation: the runtime, build, deployment, and developer experience that 250+ MFEs and hundreds of engineers depend on every day. Evolving Our Micro-Frontend Architecture : improve composition, isolation, and shared dependency strategies so feature teams can move fast. Product and Planning: Independently drive projects from idea to production: breaking down ambiguous problems into clear technical plans, estimating delivery, identifying risks early, and delivering high-quality solutions in a timely manner. Supporting Engineering Excellence : Champion best practices, raise the bar for code quality, and turn lessons learned into platform improvements. Long-Term Thinking: Balance short-term feature unblockers with the long-term health, security, and maintainability of the platform. Agentic Development: Build the foundations that let AI agents work autonomously on our platform, including agent instructions, reusable skills, tool integrations, guardrails, and the automated checks that make agent-authored changes safe to ship. AI Fluency: Work agent-first in your own day-to-day: delegate implementation to agents, and focus your judgment on direction, architecture, and verifying outcomes. 📍This role can be based in our Berlin tech hub. Read more about our hybrid setup here . Feel free to check out the Wolt Tech Blog for more insight into our culture and technology. Our humble expectations Proven expertise in building production frontend applications using TypeScript and React. Solid backend knowledge, comfortable owning and operating Node.js services that support frontend infrastructure. Strong knowledge of frontend build tools, bundlers, and module systems, and the ability to evolve them as the platform grows. Track record of diagnosing and resolving complex performance, reliability, or DX issues in large frontend codebases. Experience driving technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders. Strong stakeholder management skills: aligning priorities, managing expectations, and communicating trade-offs clearly with partner teams and leadership. Strong communication skills and a collaborative, platform-mindset approach to working with feature teams. Strong documentation skills, including experience writing RFCs or ADRs. Nice to Haves Experience with micro-frontend architecture. Frontend platform engineering experience. Experience building shared component libraries used by many product teams. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and cloud infrastructure for frontend workloads. Experience or interest in observability and reliability (SRE). Experience building tooling or workflows for autonomous AI coding agents (e.g., agent instructions, skills, MCP servers, or evaluating agent-generated code). What's in it for you Impact: Build and shape the platform that thousands of people depend on. Scale: Work on real platform problems behind 250+ MFEs with hundreds of monthly contributors. Collaboration: Partner with talented engineers, designers, and operators across companies to make their daily work faster and better. Growth: Take on deep technical challenges across frontend architecture, agentic development, DX, and improving engineering efficiency. Culture: Be part of a diverse, open-minded team that values creativity, autonomy, and continuous learning. Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion We're committed to growing and empowering a more inclusive community within our company, industry, and cities. That's why we hire and cultivate diverse teams of people from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe that true innovation happens when everyone has room at the table and the tools, resources, and opportunity to excel.
