Senior Software Engineer - Platform & Infrastructure (f/m/d)
Full TimeOn-siteSenior
pythongorustawsterraformansible+10

The product you will work on The HOLOPLOT Matrix Array is a new type of sound system built around precise, software-defined control of sound in three dimensions - grounded in physics and implemented through a combination of custom hardware and purpose-built software. HOLOPLOT deployed Matrix Arrays in various venues, including the Sphere in Las Vegas - the world's most advanced entertainment venue and, notably, home to the world's largest audio installation in entertainment. Audio processing in HOLOPLOT systems is distributed: every loudspeaker runs embedded Linux, and hundreds of them have to be configured, coordinated, monitored, and updated as one system. This is enabled by multiple open source and in-house developed services running on an on-premises Kubernetes cluster. AWS-hosted services connect venues to remote monitoring, telemetry, and configuration. Many venues are air-gapped or only intermittently connected for remote servicing, and that constraint shapes most of the design decisions in the platform. The ideal candidate is We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who builds the platform our sound systems run on, and who takes responsibility for how it behaves in production. This is a software engineering role first. You will spend your time writing software, either with your own team or embedded with one of the other HOLOPLOT teams: services, controllers, agents, and tooling that provision, configure, observe, and update our systems. Our infrastructure is defined as code and evolves through the same review and release process as the rest of our software. You design the operational side, you build it, and you are on call when it misbehaves in the field. Your role and responsibilities You will join the team that owns the platform underneath our installations and connected services, working alongside backend, embedded, and frontend engineers who are organized in cross-functional product teams. Build the platform Architect and implement services to provision, configure, and manage server fleets across AWS and local clusters. Create control-plane logic for venue systems to ensure consistency, health monitoring, rollout management, and recovery, even during uplink disruptions. Establish end-to-end provisioning workflows for embedded Linux hardware, spanning from initial manufacturing to customer deployment. Enhance update processes to streamline software deployments for active customer installations. Develop APIs and developer tooling that empower engineering teams to independently deploy, observe, and troubleshoot their services. Embed telemetry capabilities into the platform to facilitate remote diagnosis of venue system behavior . Run what you build Own the AWS infrastructure behind our connected services: remote access, access control, telemetry ingestion, remote backup, secret management, and monitoring. All of it is infrastructure as code. Operate and evolve the on-premises Kubernetes footprint at venues, including air-gapped and intermittently connected installations. Monitor large environments, investigate problems across the software/hardware boundary, and turn each incident into a fix in the code. Be part of a compensated on-call rotation Set the technical direction Advise and collaborate with product teams on building distributed systems that are scalable, secure, and observable, and review their designs with production reality in mind. Research and introduce tools and technologies where they measurably improve how we build and operate. Contribute back to the open-source projects we depend on, through issues and fixes. What you need to succeed in this role Several years of professional software engineering experience, most of it spent designing and shipping production systems. Fluency in software engineering as a craft: concurrency, error handling, testing, and designing APIs that other teams build on. Working knowledge of the Kubernetes control plane and the operator/controller pattern, including how clusters behave when they are unhealthy. Hands-on experience with AWS, and a firm belief in infrastructure as code. Terraform and Ansible are what we use today. Comfort across several languages, and the ability to pick up a new one when the problem calls for it. Our platform work is mostly Go and Python, with Rust and C++ elsewhere in the stack. Experience building distributed systems, and a clear understanding of how they fail: partitions, partial rollouts, clock skew, retries, and reconciliation. A good sense for software architecture and maintainability, and the habit of writing code that colleagues can pick up and change. A strong command of Linux, scripting, and automation. Experience instrumenting software for telemetry and using it to answer real questions about running systems. Good judgment about what to automate and what to leave alone. Strong communication skills in English. You can explain a design or a failure clearly to engineers, product stakeholders, and non-specialists. Willingness to take part in compensated on-call and weekend work when installations need it. A can-do mentality, an eye for detail, and the courage to take on problems outside your comfort zone. Experience in using AI for engineering. Nice to haves Experience with NATS, Prometheus/Thanos, or PostgreSQL in production. Experience with air-gapped or intermittently connected installations. Experience running Kubernetes in production, not only deploying to it. Experience with embedded Linux, device fleet management, or IoT security. Networking depth: multicast at scale, WireGuard, BGP, IPv6. Experience in the audio, broadcast, or live events industry. Contributions to open-source infrastructure projects We offer you At HOLOPLOT we work in a flexible hybrid setup with trust-based working hours, giving you the freedom to organise your day in a way that supports focus, deep work and balance. Pay is competitive and fair, and we offer perks and benefits such as subsidised public transport, lunch allowances, Urban Sports and a company pension scheme. You'll join an international, open-minded team across software, hardware, product and research, in an environment with plenty of autonomy and ownership. You'll work on cutting-edge audio technology, turn complex requirements into working solutions and contribute to global projects, with support for your growth through individual development plans, mentoring and coaching. Case Resolution Engineer
Elation Health
Elation HealthRemote (Fully Remote)14 days ago
InternshipFully RemoteMid$70,000 - $70,000 / Year
pythonjavascriptsqlclinicaltriagecad+4

Headquarters: Canada - Remote Our team is committed to enhancing physician and patient quality of life through Elation, a SaaS cloud-based clinical platform. Since inception, we've been focused on building a delightful, world-class experience that empowers physicians to deliver phenomenal care to patients. Customer support has been the same job for twenty years: a queue, a ticket, an SLA, a closed case. That's ending, fast. Over the next 6–9 months, AI will take on more of the routine, repetitive cases at Elation. That doesn't shrink the human role — it builds on it. The work becomes product intelligence: shaping how AI handles conversations, holding the customer-trust moments that need real judgment, and turning patterns into priorities Engineering delivers. We're hiring Support Engineers to anchor that shift: people who don't just close tickets, but trace them back to the line of product code causing them, ship the fix that resolves the customer's problem immediately, and partner with senior engineers on the cases complex enough to need them. You might be the recent engineering grad who spent a summer at a busy front desk, in a popular restaurant, or on a support line because you like people as much as you like problems, and who's been quietly automating things nobody asked you to fix since your first CS class. Or, you might be the person who leads team projects, tinkers with the dashboards, automations, or workflows so automatically that colleagues assume you are an engineer even if you aren't. If that sounds like you, this role turns that problem-solving instinct into your core responsibility. As a Support Engineer, you'll bring empathy and judgment to the cases that need it most, own the quality of AI-driven solutions in your domain, and synthesize patterns that influence Product and Engineering roadmaps. We hire for judgment, taste, and curiosity, not process adherence. The bar isn't how many cases you closed; it's how much you reshaped the conditions under which cases happen. Role and Responsibilities Synthesize and share customer insights. Surface patterns from your cases in weekly and monthly reports, participate in Product and Engineering discussions with what you're learning, and mentor Support Team members on AI workflows, scripting, and SQL queries. Use Good Judgment to Solve Cases. Own customer escalations with cases that genuinely require seasoned judgment, the ones AI can't safely close. Build and protect customer trust in moments that matter. Build and own AI quality. Configure AI within Elation's stack (intents, knowledge sources, escalation rules), build lightweight external automations and scripts, and own the quality of AI outputs in your domain. What success looks like in your first 6 months Delivered solutions that reduced case volume by 10% or eliminated recurring issue categories, with measurable customer impact (e.g., CSAT, reduction in case reopens) A monthly drumbeat of synthesized insights that Product and Engineering act on, with visible impact on customer experience or a measurable drop in case volume Owns a measurable case-volume reduction in your domain by making cases not happen, not by closing them faster You question default workflows instead of just executing them, and you ship more by removing work, not just doing more of it You build with AI to make yourself and the teammates around you faster — automating triage, drafting responses, prototyping internal tools, and turning one-off builds into reusable patterns Support can run with You've picked up or sharpened a technical skill — SQL, Python, an API, a scripting language — specifically because a customer problem needed it, not because a course assigned it Mentors Associate teammates on AI builds and pattern synthesis Identified and closed gaps across internal and customer-facing documentation, improving accuracy and reducing repeat questions. Professional Qualifications 1–5+ years of experience in Engineering, data analytics, or AI/automation tinkering in any field — OR a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, plus real experience talking to people under pressure (support, hospitality, retail, service, resident advising) Comfortable enough with code to experiment : you've written scripts, touched an API, or built something in Python, SQL, or JavaScript — even if it was just for a class project , team project or yourself A concrete portfolio of things you've built or shipped: prompt-engineered systems, dashboards, automations, class or personal projects — with evidence of outcomes Strong customer-facing communication and trust-building skills Pattern recognition and synthesis muscle AI-native default. Reaches for AI tools first, treats ambiguity as the work rather than a blocker, and wants to learn how to configure and supervise these systems — not just use them A deep desire to drive results for our customers, with high ownership over the outcomes you own Curiosity and natural problem-solving instincts An instinct to raise the bar for the teammates around you — teaching others to build and synthesize, not just modeling it yourself Show us your work Along with your application, in a cover letter send us: 2–3 things you've built or shipped that changed a metric or outcome — a work project, a personal build, or something from school or an internship — what you made, who it was for, why you needed to do it, and what changed. A short story about a time your analysis or insight changed a decision someone else made. Salary range $70,000 - $95,000 CAD Elation welcomes individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life. Elation is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and is dedicated to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive work environment. We are committed to equal opportunity for all employees and applicants, and value individuals with diverse perspectives including, but not limited to: race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, gender identity or gender expression, national origin, disability or veteran status. Elation also complies with all applicable national, state and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment as well as work authorization and employment eligibility verification requirements of the Immigration and Nationality Act and IRCA. Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure
streamAmsterdam office, Germany14 days ago
Full TimeOn-sitePrincipal
pythongoawsgcpkubernetesdevops+14

Staff Software Engineer, Platform & Infrastructure The role We are hiring a Staff Software Engineer for our Infrastructure team. Stream runs behind apps that more than a billion people use: billions of API requests a month, a 99.999% uptime promise, and a small team keeping it all running. Infrastructure here decides how fast our products feel, how well they scale, and how quickly we can launch new ones. This year we're wrapping up a big move. We're simplifying where and how we host, and rebuilding our data layer on self-hosted, open-source systems that are faster and cheaper to run. That's the groundwork, not the job. Next comes building the infrastructure every Stream product runs on, including the ones we haven't built yet. That means real SLOs, clear costs, calmer on-call, and a platform that helps teams ship faster. What you build will shape how much Stream spends and how fast it grows, and we'll trust you with big decisions from your first few weeks. This is a Software Engineering role first. Attitude, ambition and a willingness to experiment across the stack matter more to us than years of Kubernetes or database operations. We expect AI to cover a good share of the DevOps-heavy work, and we expect you to use it that way. What a tool can't give us is system design judgement , strong fundamentals and good code , so that is what we look for. Platform & Infrastructure is a small, senior team without the support structures of a large organisation. It moves fast and it gets hectic. We would rather say that now than have you find out in month two. What team is focusing on: Runs Stream's global platform. Keeps the edge and backend that serve customers worldwide fast and up, at single-digit millisecond latency on a 99.999% uptime SLA. Shapes Stream's margins. Our hosting and infrastructure decisions directly drive the company's profitability. You will decide where and how we run, and what we stop paying for. Builds tools people actually want to use. Internal tools that change how engineers deploy and debug, and external ones that give customers a clear view of their own traffic and health. Makes on-call boring. Builds a rotation people can sustain, and cuts alert noise until a page means something real is broken. Makes cost visible. Gives every team a clear view of what it spends on infrastructure and why, so cost becomes part of every engineering decision. What you will do: Define what "good" looks like for the platform. Set latency and uptime SLOs for every product team, and decide what we measure, from error rates and delivery times to how healthy our customers' apps really are. Make the big infrastructure calls. Lead the design reviews and decisions on where and how we run, working with backend, video and moderation engineers on tradeoffs that cross service boundaries. Build the platform tooling. Write the internal tools and services that help engineers ship, deploy and debug faster, plus the docs and AI skills that make launching a new product repeatable. Turn incidents into fixes that stick. Take part in on-call, and make sure every root cause ends in a durable fix, not a workaround. Make cost part of every design. Weigh cost alongside reliability in every decision, and give teams the numbers to do the same. What we are looking for: A software engineer who has built systems, not only configured them. You write production code in Go, Python or a similar language. Scripting-only backgrounds are not a fit. Strong system design . You can reason about failure modes, capacity and cost in distributed systems, and explain why you chose what you chose. Solid fundamentals in networking , storage and concurrency , and the habit of asking why a system behaves the way it does instead of accepting the default. You have owned high-scale production systems and set technical direction beyond your own work, through design reviews, RFCs and decisions other engineers build on. You experiment. When you hit Kubernetes, a database or a cloud service you have not run before, you dig in, use AI to close the gap, and ship. You already use AI tools every day in your engineering work. You treat cost and reliability as engineering problems, and you can put a number on an outcome you drove. You write clearly. Much of this role is docs and standards that other teams will follow. You are comfortable in a small team, setting direction and reviewing a PR in the same week. Nice to have experience: Kubernetes in production: cluster architecture, workload design or a migration you led. PostgreSQL at scale, ideally self-hosted or with CloudNativePG: sharding, replication, partitioning tradeoffs. Valkey or Redis at scale, ideally on Kubernetes. Hands-on AWS and GCP, including multi-cloud setups or migrations between providers. Cloud commitment and reservation strategy (committed use discounts, savings plans), or formal FinOps practice. SLO design, alert hygiene and a Prometheus and Grafana based observability stack. Real-time systems: WebSockets, WebRTC, streaming or other persistent-connection workloads. Open source contributions, or writing and talks on cloud, platform or distributed systems. Our stack Go, gRPC, RocksDB, Python PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ GCP Grafana, Prometheus, ELK (Elasticsearch and Kibana) Jaeger and Tempo for distributed tracing, Datadog Redis, Memcached Claude Code, Cursor You will thrive here if You want platform and infrastructure problems at a scale most engineers never touch, and the autonomy to set the direction yourself. You would rather try something, measure it and change course than wait for a perfect plan. You ship fast and learn fast, including when it is hectic. You are self-directed and comfortable working with a globally distributed team across time zones. You probably will not if You want to stay a specialist in one layer of the stack. You want tightly scoped tickets and step-by-step direction. You need a calm, highly predictable environment. Compensation and benefits For employees based in the Netherlands: 28 days paid time off plus Dutch public holidays Pension plan Commute covered: an NS Business Card or a company Swapfiets Fitness contribution of up to €60 a month toward a gym or sports club membership Learning and development budget Work from anywhere: up to four weeks a year Full Dutch statutory leave, with Stream topping up paternity leave to 100% pay Catered team lunches in the office, and snacks MacBook Pro and peripherals Relocation support, visa sponsorship and 30% ruling support An office in the centre of Amsterdam Conferences and meetups, as an attendee or a speaker The chance to work on our open source SDKs Why join Stream? We're a Series B company with global presence and a team of around 145 people from more than 35 countries. We're backed by Felicis Ventures, GGV Capital, 01 Advisors, Techstars, and Arthur Ventures, with angels including Dick Costolo (ex-CEO of Twitter), Olivier Pomel (CEO of Datadog), Tom Preston-Werner (co-founder of GitHub), and Nicolas Dessaigne (co-founder of Algolia). We'll be straight with you: a startup is more demanding than a large company. There's no fixed playbook, you'll own things end to end, and you'll sometimes pick up work outside your title. That's also what makes it a fast place to grow. If you want real ownership and high scale more than structure and a set career ladder, you'll feel at home here. Hybrid office policy: applicants based (or relocating to) one of our office locations are expected to work according to the applicable local office attendance policy. Equal opportunity employer statement: Stream provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation and training. Note for external recruiters: We currently have this role covered and do not accept unsolicited agency resumes. We are not responsible for any fees related to unsolicited resumes. Lead Controls & Data Engineer
DeWarmteThe Hague, Germany14 days ago
Full TimeOn-siteLead€4,500 - €4,500 / Year
pythonrbashci/cdkafkahydraulics+3

At DeWarmte, we develop technology that helps homes move away from gas. Our heat pumps combine hardware, embedded control software, cloud services and data—and the quality of the software connecting those elements directly determines how well our products perform in customers' homes. We are looking for a Lead Controls & Data Engineer to take ownership of two foundations of our products: the control software that operates our heat pumps and the data platform that helps us monitor, understand and improve them. This is a hands-on leadership role. Initially, most of your time will be spent writing code, diagnosing real-world behaviour, improving reliability and delivering new functionality. At the same time, you are in the lead for collaborating with external partners, ensuring data reliability and scalability. Additionally, you will build the technical foundations, documentation and team that move us away from dependence on any one engineer. Your mission Build reliable, scalable controls and data capability that is owned by a team—not an individual. You will inherit working systems and products already operating in the field. Your job is to understand them deeply, keep them running, improve their performance and evolve their architecture. You will then recruit and develop the engineers needed to create durable, shared ownership. What you'll do Own and improve our control software Work directly in the production code that controls our heat pumps. Design, build, test and deploy new control functionality. Improve product performance, stability, safety and energy efficiency. Diagnose and understand complex behaviour across software, electronics, sensors, hydraulics and the physical installation. Manage controlled software rollouts across both new products and the installed fleet. Establish appropriate automated testing, simulation, observability and release practices. Current stack includes Bash/Shell, Python, Kafka, Telegraf and Influx. You will own the evolution of the stack together with our Hardware R&D team. Build our product data platform Take technical ownership of the systems that collect, process and expose data from our connected smart heat pumps. Make product behaviour and fleet trends observable for engineering, service and product teams. Improve the quality, reliability and accessibility of operational data. Ensure pipeline and server capabilities are able to handle rapid scaling. Create the foundations for performance analysis, remote diagnostics and continuous product improvement. Define clear interfaces between device software, cloud systems, the customer app and internal tools. Build a team and eliminate key-person dependency Turn implicit knowledge into clear documentation, tooling and repeatable engineering practices. Design systems that other engineers can intuitively understand, easily test and safely change. Define the roles and capabilities the team will need as DeWarmte scales. Recruit, onboard and mentor controls, embedded-software and data engineers. Introduce effective code reviews, technical decision-making and shared operational ownership. Gradually move from being the primary implementer to leading a capable team—without losing touch with the code. Work across the product You will collaborate closely with colleagues in hardware, software, data, product development, assembly, installation and service. You will help resolve immediate customer and operational issues while protecting the long-term quality of the platform. What success looks like In your first months You understand the existing controls, data flows and operational risks. You can independently maintain, debug and release the current systems. The most important technical risks and knowledge gaps are visible and prioritised. Monitoring, documentation and development practices begin to improve. As the role develops New control functionality can be delivered predictably and safely. You work closely together with Hardware colleagues, developing the next generation of products Product data supports faster diagnosis and better engineering decisions. Critical systems are understood and maintained by more than one person. A small, strong controls and data team is in place, with clear ownership and effective ways of working. DeWarmte is no longer dependent on a single engineer to operate or evolve this part of the product. What we are looking for Strong hands-on software engineering experience, including ownership of production systems. Experience developing control or embedded software for physical products, machines or connected devices. A track record of taking functionality through design, implementation, testing, deployment and real-world operation. The ability to reason across software, hardware and physical-system behaviour. Experience working with telemetry, time-series data, data pipelines or connected-device platforms. Strong engineering fundamentals, including version control, automated testing, CI/CD, observability and structured incident resolution. The ability to create clarity in an environment where systems and processes are still developing. Experience mentoring engineers and improving how a team works. The ambition and ability to recruit and lead a team while remaining highly hands-on. Experience with heat pumps, HVAC systems, safety-critical design, fleet-management systems or optimisation is valuable, but we care more about your ability to learn a complex physical product and take genuine end-to-end ownership. How you work You solve urgent problems without allowing permanent workarounds to become the architecture. You explain complex technical matters clearly to people with different backgrounds. You balance reliability today with the investments needed to scale tomorrow. You share knowledge by default and measure success by what the team can own without you. You are comfortable switching between debugging a specific installation, reviewing architecture and interviewing a future teammate. You are able to maintain alignment between your own team's development roadmap and the roadmap of other product teams. What you will get Direct influence on technology that contributes to the energy transition. Ownership of software and data that sit at the heart of a real physical product. The opportunity to shape both the technical platform and the team around it. A role that starts deeply hands-on and grows into broader engineering leadership. Close collaboration with colleagues across the complete product lifecycle. What we offer A monthly gross salary between €4.500 and €6.000, based on full-time. 27 vacation days plus 8% holiday allowance Participation in our SAR (Stock Appreciation Rights) programme Plenty of ownership and responsibility from day one The opportunity to shape products that directly contribute to the energy transition A talented, ambitious, and highly collaborative team A healthy daily lunch at the office Laptop and everything you need to do your best work Regular team events, company drinks, our annual beach day, and winter trip Lots of room to grow, develop yourself, and make a lasting impact Interested? Do you want to build the software, data platform and engineering team behind the next generation of DeWarmte heat pumps? We would like to meet you.
