Fortune and Fortune Media IP Limited are not affiliated with, and do not endorse products or services of GitLab. An overview of this role As an Intermediate Backend Engineer (Python) in GitLab's Agent Foundations stage, you'll go beyond using AI tools. You'll help build the foundations for GitLab's agentic AI experiences: the platform that lets AI agents work across the whole software delivery lifecycle, not just write code. That covers the reusable building blocks agents and flows are made from as well as our core harness, Duo Developer. Most of your work will be backend engineering in Python, using libraries such as LangGraph to build secure, reliable and scalable features in our AI Gateway. You'll also work across the stack where needed. You'll work closely with engineers across the stage and other AI Engineering teams. This is a high-visibility area where GitLab's core platform meets its AI strategy. What you'll do Develop, ship and maintain features for the Duo Agent Platform in the Duo Workflow Service, the AI Gateway and, where needed, the GitLab monolith. Keep them secure, well-tested and performant. Build and improve agentic flows and their reusable parts with LangChain and LangGraph, including the Flow Registry. Work with Product Management, UX, frontend, backend and AI specialists to refine requirements and ship improvements in small iterations. Design, implement and review APIs (including GraphQL and REST) and the backend logic behind them, with reliable, scalable and clear contracts for clients such as the GitLab monolith, IDE extensions and Duo CLI. Improve and extend automated testing (pytest and other frameworks), including evaluations of agent and flow behavior, to strengthen quality and give developers faster feedback. Share standards, patterns and learnings with other engineers to raise the bar for responsible AI integration and evidence-driven engineering. Join Tier 2 on-call rotations to troubleshoot production issues, contribute to root cause analysis, and improve observability and resiliency. Keep an eye on the competitive landscape to help keep GitLab's agent platform best-in-class as more work becomes agentic. What you'll bring Experience building and maintaining production Python backend applications, including APIs, asynchronous or background processing, and data models. Experience with LLM application frameworks such as LangGraph, or designing and shipping AI-powered backend features or harnesses. Skill in designing or extending APIs (REST, GraphQL or gRPC) with attention to scalability, maintainability and backward compatibility. Comfort working across the stack in a mature codebase. Familiarity with Ruby on Rails and/or JavaScript and Vue is a plus. Experience finding and fixing performance bottlenecks in applications. Clear written and verbal communication, including technical proposals and documentation, in a remote, async, cross-functional team. Openness to learning and to applying skills from related technologies or fields. About the team The Agent Foundations stage builds the foundations for GitLab's agentic AI experiences. We provide the platform, catalog and execution features that help teams deliver resilient agents and flows to customers. The stage has three groups: Agent Developer, AI Catalog and Agent Execution. Between them, they own the GitLab Duo Developer foundational flow and the Flow Registry; the AI Catalog, including custom agents, custom flows and external agent integrations; and agent execution, agent tools and agent observability. Our engineers work async-first across EMEA, AMER, and India timezones. We work with teams across AI engineering and the rest of GitLab so the Duo Agent Platform can power many of GitLab's AI features. How GitLab Supports Full-Time Employees Benefits to support your health, finances, and well-being Flexible Paid Time Off Team Member Resource Groups Equity Compensation & Employee Stock Purchase Plan Growth and Development Fund Parental Leave Please note that we welcome interest from candidates with varying levels of experience; many successful candidates do not meet every single requirement. Director, Applied AI
ZoomInfo Technologies LLCRemote (Fully Remote)30 days ago
Full TimeFully RemoteMid$233,100 - $366,300 / Year
gosqlmachine learningllmdata scienceclaims+1

Headquarters: Bethesda, Maryland, United States; Remote-US-MA; Remote-US-MD; Remote-US-WA; Vancouver, Washington, United States; Waltham, Massachusetts, United States ZoomInfo is where careers accelerate. We move fast, think boldly, and empower you to do the best work of your life. You'll be surrounded by teammates who care deeply, challenge each other, and celebrate wins. With tools that amplify your impact and a culture that backs your ambition, you won't just contribute. You'll make things happen–fast. You'll lead the team that builds the intelligence every ZoomInfo AI agent reasons over — what's true about companies and the people in them, how they relate, and what they're buying. This role owns the B2B data graph strategy end to end, blending classical machine learning and data science with LLM and agentic systems, and treating evaluation and inference cost as core disciplines. You'll set the technical bar for a team of senior engineers while staying close to the code, shipping alongside the people you lead. What You'll Do You will ship code alongside your team, prototype alone to prove or kill an idea, and review code as a peer, setting how the team uses agentic coding tools with precise specifications and rigorous review. You will own delivery end-to-end, from problem framing through serving and on-call, including long-tail graph coverage and user memory for agents that separates user-supplied context from system-of-record data. You will choose the right method for each problem — classical machine learning, language models, or code — for challenges like sparse-company revenue estimation, entity resolution, and semantic intent modeling, deciding on measured evidence and stopping work that won't pay off. You will define what it takes to claim an agent's output is correct, not just that its run completed, building the evaluation datasets, regression gates, and experiment designs that back those claims. You will own inference cost, latency, and capacity, including build-versus-buy and distillation decisions, since a model too expensive to run everywhere isn't a result. You will hire and grow machine learning engineers, data scientists, and research engineers, developing senior engineers into technical leaders. You will work across product, platform, security, and legal, and present results and their limits to executives, including when a system isn't good enough to launch. What You Bring Must-Have: You have significant experience building production machine learning systems and leading the engineers who build them by shipping alongside them — demonstrated capability matters more than years. You have a track record of hiring and developing senior machine learning engineers and data scientists against a high bar. You stay hands-on today: shipping code, building prototypes independently, and using agentic coding tools daily with rigorous review. You bring deep classical machine learning and data science expertise (supervised learning, feature engineering, statistical inference and experiment design, strong SQL) alongside production LLM and agentic systems, with the judgment to choose between them, including setting an evaluation bar with leakage-safe validation, calibration, and validated LLM judges. You have a record of cost and capacity decisions for model serving, such as moving a workload from a hosted model to a distilled or self-hosted one, with the savings measured, and you report results to executives with their limits stated, including recommending against a launch. Preferred: You bring entrepreneurial experience — founding a company, or taking a product from inception to paying customers as a founding or early engineer. You have experience in propensity modeling, ranking and retrieval, clustering, or entity resolution at scale. You have worked on web-scale language processing over multilingual, noisy text, knowledge graphs, or user memory for agents. You have experience with post-training and distillation, open-weight model serving, or AI governance and safety practices (ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF). #LI-hybrid #LI-VC1 Actual compensation offered will be based on factors such as the candidate's work location, qualifications, skills, experience and/or training. Your recruiter can share more information about the specific salary range for your desired work location during the hiring process. We want our employees and their families to thrive. In addition to comprehensive benefits we offer holistic mind, body and lifestyle programs designed for overall well-being. Learn more about ZoomInfo benefits here . ML Systems Engineer - Model Training and Infrastructure (SWE-focused LLMs)
Full TimeOn-siteMid
pythongoawsazuregcpdocker+13

Job title: ML Systems Engineer - Model Training and Infrastructure (SWE-focused LLMs) Location: London; full in-office working as default Start date: ASAP Compensation: £80,000 - £110,000 Base Salary & £80,000 - £110,000 Share options. Help build the software engineers of the future Cosine is building autonomous AI engineers that plan, write and ship code inside real development workflows. Our agents work across complex software systems, and our Lumen models are trained to do more than produce code that looks correct. They are built to understand existing architectures, follow established patterns and produce software that engineers can actually maintain. We develop our agent tooling entirely in-house and post-train open-source models for reliable, enterprise-grade coding performance. Our products are designed for on-premise, VPC and fully air-gapped environments, including security-critical settings where control, privacy and robustness are non-negotiable. In 2024, Cosine achieved a 72% score on OpenAI's SWE-Lancer benchmark, placing us among the strongest real-world software-engineering AI systems evaluated. We're now looking for an ML Systems Engineer to help train the next generation of Lumen models. This is a highly hands-on role at the intersection of machine learning, software engineering, data and infrastructure. You'll build the environments in which models learn to write software, develop the pipelines that generate and curate training data, and run the fine-tuning and reinforcement-learning workloads that shape model behaviour. If you're excited by the idea that the future quality of coding agents will be determined not just by model architecture, but by the quality of their data, environments and reward functions, this is an opportunity to work directly on that problem. The role You'll work closely with ML researchers, infrastructure engineers and product teams to decide: What Lumen should learn next. How to generate the right training data. How to design environments that reflect real software-engineering work. How to reward models for producing useful, maintainable code. How to measure whether a new training run genuinely improves the experience for engineers. The systems you build will sit directly inside our model-training loop. Models will write code, use tools, run tests and interact with real repositories. Your work will determine how those interactions are generated, evaluated and fed back into future training. This is not a narrow research role and it is not traditional MLOps. You'll move between custom PyTorch code, distributed data pipelines, Dockerised services, RL environments, evaluation infrastructure and production-quality software. What you'll do Build the training systems behind Lumen Contribute to the end-to-end training of software-engineering models. Implement supervised fine-tuning pipelines using curated code and conversation datasets. Build reinforcement-learning loops in which models write code, run tests and use development tools. Develop custom PyTorch dataloaders, training objectives and evaluation workflows. Run and analyse fine-tuning and RL experiments across large, modern open-source models. Create the data that teaches models to engineer Develop synthetic data-generation pipelines for future RL and fine-tuning runs. Design systems for producing, filtering, transforming and sampling large-scale datasets. Work with object storage, dataset sharding and data-quality checks. Investigate which examples, tasks and sampling strategies lead to better model behaviour. Turn model failures into concrete improvements to training data and future experiments. Build reliable RL infrastructure Design, build and deploy containerised services that support model training and evaluation. Use Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes to operate RL infrastructure. Build environments where agents can modify repositories, run tests, use tools and receive meaningful feedback. Improve the reliability, reproducibility and observability of large-scale training runs. Work across Python, Go and the surrounding infrastructure required to run these systems. Improve how we evaluate SWE models Help maintain and extend evaluation suites for code models. Build evaluations around unit tests, benchmark suites, repository-level tasks and real engineering workflows. Analyse model failure modes, reward-hacking risks and regressions. Develop better ways to measure code quality, maintainability, correctness and architectural fit. Feed evaluation results back into model, data and infrastructure decisions. Shape the next training direction Work with research, infrastructure and product teams to identify the highest-value training problems. Turn broad goals such as "make Lumen better at X" into clear experiments and measurable outcomes. Develop opinionated reward functions for software-engineering agents. Document decisions, communicate trade-offs and help the wider team understand what the results mean. Take ownership of projects from initial idea through to deployment and iteration. What we're looking for You may come from software engineering, ML infrastructure, data engineering, applied machine learning or a closely related field. You should be comfortable with: Strong software engineering fundamentals Typically 3–5 years of experience, or equivalent evidence of strong technical ability. Reading, debugging and writing non-trivial production code. Working primarily in Python and Go. Caring about correctness, maintainability and code quality as much as model metrics. Taking ownership of ambiguous technical problems and turning them into working systems. Training frameworks and ML systems Practical experience with at least one of PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX. Implementing custom training loops, losses or dataloaders. Understanding the relationship between data, objectives, evaluation and model behaviour. A willingness to work close to the code rather than treating training infrastructure as a black box. Containers and cloud infrastructure Experience with Docker and container-management or orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. Experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as GCP, AWS or Azure. An understanding of how to build services that are reliable, observable and straightforward to operate. Comfort working across application code, infrastructure and deployment systems. Data engineering instincts Experience working with large-scale datasets and object storage. Understanding of sharding, filtering, sampling and dataset versioning. The judgement to recognise that data quality can matter as much as model architecture. An interest in building data pipelines that are reproducible and useful for experimentation. Clear communication and ownership The ability to explain technical decisions and experimental results clearly. Comfort documenting trade-offs and walking others through your reasoning. A practical approach to deciding what to build, what to measure and what to leave out. The curiosity to investigate failures rather than dismissing them as noise. You do not need to have worked on every part of the stack. We care more about strong engineering fundamentals, technical judgement and the ability to learn quickly than about matching every keyword. Nice to have You don't need all of these, but experience in the following areas would help you get up to speed quickly: Synthetic data generation for code or language models. Training LLMs in distributed environments. Reinforcement learning, preference optimisation or reward modelling. Data tooling such as SQL, Apache Iceberg or DuckDB. LLM-as-a-judge systems or automated code evaluation. Reward-hacking detection, robustness evaluation or safety-focused training. Open-source contributions to LLM tooling, ML infrastructure or RL libraries. Experience working with repository-level code tasks or software-engineering benchmarks. What success looks like In your first few months, you will: Become a trusted engineering partner to the research team. Contribute to reliable data-generation, training and evaluation workflows. Ship improvements to the infrastructure used in Lumen fine-tuning and RL runs. Help identify why models fail on real software-engineering tasks. Turn those failures into concrete changes to data, environments, reward functions or evaluation. Build a strong understanding of the systems required to train capable SWE agents. Longer term, you'll help define how Cosine trains software-engineering models: what they learn, how they practise, what they are rewarded for and how we decide whether they are genuinely getting better. Why this role matters Coding agents are moving quickly, but producing plausible code is not the same as being a good software engineer. The models we build need to work within existing codebases. They need to understand context, respect architectural decisions, write maintainable code, use tools effectively and recover when their first attempt fails. That behaviour will not emerge from model scale alone. It will come from better environments, better data, better evaluations and better incentives. You'll work directly on all four. Your contributions will influence the Lumen models used in Cosine's self-serve and enterprise products, including deployments in organisations with demanding security and infrastructure requirements. You'll have close proximity to the research, infrastructure and product decisions that determine where the system goes next. This is a role for someone who wants to work on the full stack of modern model training, while staying grounded in the standards of production software engineering. Why join Cosine Direct impact: Your work will shape the next generations of Lumen software-engineering models. Real scale: Work with large open-source models, long context lengths and multi-node training runs. Full-stack ML engineering: Move between PyTorch, distributed systems, data curation, RL infrastructure and MLOps. Frontier problems: Help define how AI systems learn to perform real software-engineering work. Meaningful ownership: Take ideas from vague training objective to deployed system and measurable result. Close collaboration: Work alongside research, infrastructure, product and engineering in our Hoxton office. We're an in-office team, five days a week, by design. The problems we're solving benefit from close collaboration, fast feedback and shared context. If you want to help build AI systems that write software engineers can trust, this is an opportunity to work on one of the most important problems in the field. Come help us build the future of software engineering. Cosine is an equal opportunity employer. We value diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and ways of thinking, and we're committed to creating an inclusive and respectful workplace. We encourage applications from anyone who meets the role requirements, even if you don't meet every single qualification. If you need reasonable adjustments at any stage of the hiring process, we're happy to discuss them. Compensation, Benefits & Ways of Working We're an in-office team, five days a week, by design. We believe the work we're doing benefits from being together, collaborating closely, and building shared context. What you can expect: Competitive salary , benchmarked to the market Equity / share options , so you share in the upside you help create 30 days' holiday + bank holidays Work hard in the office, collaborate closely, and switch off properly Dog-friendly office - bring your dog to work Weekly team breakfast & lunch Monthly socials Pension High-quality equipment to do your best work We care about focus, sustainability, and doing great work — not performative overwork. We value people who show up, contribute thoughtfully, collaborate well with their colleagues, and then go home. This role won't suit everyone. Job title: Technical GTM Lead Location: London; full in-office working as default Start date: ASAP Reports to: CRO Compensation: Salary and Equity options available for discussion Application deadline: 01/11/26 at 23:59 UK time Help put frontier AI to work in the real world Cosine is a UK AI lab building models, applications and training infrastructure for mission-critical organisations. We build coding agents that work across real software systems, specialised Lumen models, AI-native security products and the infrastructure needed to deploy advanced AI in demanding environments. Our customers include some of the world's largest enterprises, including organisations operating behind strict security, regulatory and technical constraints. We're also training Lumen Sovereign, the first frontier large language model trained in the UK, with the support of the UK Government. We're now looking for a Technical GTM Lead to become the technical centre of gravity for our go-to-market team. You'll sit at the intersection of customers, sales, product, engineering and machine learning. You'll show prospective customers what Cosine can do, help existing customers get deployed, build the technical assets that make our products compelling, and ensure what we learn in the field directly improves what we build. This is not a traditional solutions consultant role. It is highly hands-on. One day you may be running a technical evaluation with an enterprise engineering team; the next you may be debugging a deployment, building a demonstration environment, writing a technical blog or working with ML researchers to turn a new capability into something customers can understand and use. What you'll do Make Cosine real for customers Lead technical demonstrations and evaluations for prospective enterprise customers. Understand a customer's development environment, architecture, security model and constraints, then tailor the conversation accordingly. Explain Cosine's products, models, integrations, deployment options and security considerations with accuracy and confidence. Design and run technical evaluations, pilots and proofs of concept. Connect customers, GTM and the product organisation Act as the primary technical bridge between GTM and Cosine's Product, Engineering and ML teams. Bring structured customer feedback into the product organisation, including recurring questions, blockers, feature requests and deployment issues. Identify patterns across customer conversations and distinguish one-off requests from strategically important product gaps. Help the GTM team understand new technical capabilities, product changes and their implications for customers. Help Product and ML understand what enterprise customers actually need in order to adopt Cosine. Raise the technical bar Become the first port of call for technical questions from the commercial team. Build enough depth across Cosine's products and underlying technology to explain not only what they do, but how and why they work. Help the GTM team communicate technical capabilities accurately and avoid overpromising. Train, document and support the wider commercial organisation. Create a culture where technical rigour and commercial momentum reinforce each other. What we're looking for You may have come from software engineering, solutions engineering, forward-deployed engineering, developer tooling, technical product or a similar technical customer-facing role. You should be comfortable: Reading, writing and debugging code. Working with Git, CI/CD, APIs, containers and cloud infrastructure. Understanding enterprise deployment architectures, including cloud, VPC and on-premise environments. Speaking credibly with software engineers, platform teams, security teams and technical executives. Learning complex products quickly and explaining them clearly. Debugging ambiguous customer problems and finding a practical path forward. Moving between a customer meeting, a terminal and a conversation with an ML or Product team without losing context. Making sound technical judgements without pretending to know what you do not know. Experience with LLMs, coding agents, ML infrastructure or enterprise AI deployment would be valuable. But deep curiosity, technical ability and strong customer instincts matter more than having worked in exactly the same category before. You do not need to be an ML researcher or the world's best infrastructure engineer. You do need to be able to go deep when required, find the right answer quickly and communicate it in a way that earns trust. What success looks like In your first three months, you will: Become the person the GTM team relies on for difficult technical customer conversations. Independently run excellent demonstrations across Cosine's core products. Build a useful library of repeatable demo environments, workflows and technical assets. Reduce the friction and time involved in getting enterprise customers deployed. Establish a strong feedback loop between customers, GTM, Product, Engineering and ML. Give the commercial team confidence that Cosine can engage deeply with technically sophisticated customers. Longer term, you will help define how Cosine is understood, evaluated and adopted by the world's most demanding engineering organisations. Why this role matters Cosine is building technology that cannot be sold through a slide deck alone. Our customers want to see the product working in their environments. They want to understand how it behaves across complex codebases, legacy systems, security boundaries and real development workflows. They want technically honest answers and a partner who can stay with the problem when deployment gets difficult. You will be that person. You'll have unusual proximity to customers, product decisions and the underlying research. You'll help shape the demonstrations, deployments and feedback loops that determine where Cosine goes next. If you enjoy being close to the technology, close to customers and close to the teams building the future of AI, this is an opportunity to have a significant impact. Come help make frontier AI useful. Why join Cosine Opportunity to sell a genuinely differentiated product into mission-critical defence and national security environments Meaningful early equity with real upside Direct impact on product direction and go-to-market strategy Small, elite team with high standards and strong technical depth Cosine is an equal opportunity employer. We value diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and ways of thinking, and we're committed to creating an inclusive and respectful workplace. We encourage applications from anyone who meets the role requirements, even if you don't meet every single qualification. Forward Deployed Engineer - EMEA
Redpanda DataUK - Remote (Fully Remote)19 days ago
Full TimeFully RemoteMid
sqlllmkafkaadpadp

Redpanda is the first runtime and control plane for agent-data interaction — a unified platform that combines streaming, SQL analytics, and intelligent connectivity with the governance layer enterprise AI agents need in production. Built on infrastructure already trusted by Fortune 500 companies and fast-growing startups, Redpanda enforces governance entirely outside the agent's data path, controlling what agents see, limiting what they do, and capturing a tamper-proof record of everything they touch, so organizations never have to choose between innovation and control. About the Role: Redpanda is building the Agentic Data Plane (ADP) — the streaming and data infrastructure the world's largest enterprises run mission-critical agents on. The enterprises winning right now are building agents that encode their own business logic, their own data, their own institutional knowledge into production-grade infrastructure. That's digital sovereignty, and Redpanda ADP is the infrastructure layer that makes it real. Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) is the delivery arm. We embed engineers directly with strategic customers and build the agents and integrations that turn ADP into owned outcomes. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you are the builder: embedded on-site, working inside the customer's environment, writing the code that ships. This is not a solutions engineering role. You are not here to demo or advise. You are here to build — agents, integrations, data pipelines, and the infrastructure that runs them — alongside a customer team, in their environment, on their timeline. You Will: Build at the customer site. Write production-quality agents, integrations, and data pipelines on Redpanda ADP, inside the customer's environment and codebase. What you ship has to work after you leave. Work in unfamiliar territory, fast. Every customer engagement is a new codebase, a new data environment, a new set of constraints. Ramp quickly, orient to what exists, build on top of it without breaking it. Own the technical deliverable. Understand what the engagement is supposed to produce, design the technical approach, build it, and hand it off clean — documented, maintainable, and running in production. Be the Redpanda technical voice with the customer's engineers. Work alongside their team daily. Earn their trust. Make sure the work integrates correctly with what they already have and what they'll maintain after you leave. Drive toward exit from day one. Build with handoff in mind. Write documentation that their team can actually use. Train them on what you built. Don't create dependencies on you. Feed learnings back. Identify patterns across engagements — what customers keep needing to build, where ADP makes things hard, what should be productized. Bring that back to Product and Engineering clearly. You Have: Overall Experience. You have 6-10+ years of professional experience in a combination of software engineering and customer facing technical roles. Engineering depth. You write production software. You've built backend systems, data pipelines, APIs, or agent systems that ran in production and had real consequences when they broke. Language background is flexible; what matters is that you build things that work. Agent and integration experience. You've built agents, worked with LLM APIs, or built integrations between complex systems. You know what makes an agent reliable vs. brittle, and you've made that call in production. Ability to operate in any environment. You've worked in someone else's codebase, with constraints you didn't set, in a stack you didn't choose. You can read unfamiliar code, understand what it does, and extend it without breaking it. Customer-facing communication. You can work directly with a customer's engineering team — their leads, their architects, their individual contributors — and be a credible, trusted technical partner. You don't need a PM to translate for you. Shipped at a customer site or in a deployment context. You've personally been in the room when something hard went live. You know the difference between a demo and a production deployment. Bonus: Experience in a forward-deployed or customer-embedded engineering model — Anthropic FDE, OpenAI Deployed Engineer, Stripe FDE, Sierra, Palantir FDSE, or analogous. Background in streaming or real-time data systems (Kafka, Flink, Redpanda, or similar). Experience in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, public sector) or air-gapped environments. Have been the first or only technical person in a customer engagement — run it end-to-end without a playbook. How We Work: Reports to: Head of FDE Travel: 30–50% during active engagements; lighter between engagements. You'll be on-site when the build is live. UK salary base range is 131,914 GBP- 155,194 GBP. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. As a remote-first company, we strive to consider each candidate's job-related skills, location, experience, relevant education or training to determine individual base salary. Your talent partner will share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Join Redpanda if you'd enjoy being part of a fast-moving, diverse, people-first organization with team members around the globe and a culture based on trust, transparency, communication, and kindness. You'll dive into a nimble, high-impact team with the latest AI tools — and the budget to actually use them. Find Jobs in United Kingdom on Arbeitnow
