AI Engineer

Who We Are About Stripe Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career. About The Team The Solutions Architecture (SA) organization helps Stripe's most strategic customers design and validate technical solutions that drive their business forward. Within SA, our team builds the tools, workflows, and custom technical assets that make the broader SA org more effective—turning individual ingenuity into org-wide capability. We are looking for AI Engineers who are energized by working close to the business and the users we serve. You'll operate as an embedded, high-context engineer focused on the highest-leverage opportunities across the SA org—building production-quality tooling, supporting our most strategic engagements, and shipping automation that meaningfully improves how Solutions Architects work every day. What You'll Do As an AI Engineer, you'll be embedded directly with the Solutions Architecture team—building alongside them, deeply understanding their workflows, and shipping tools and automation that permanently change how they operate. Your measure of success is SA productivity: the engagements you've accelerated, the workflows you've transformed, and the tools you've built that the org adopts as default. You'll ship code daily. You'll discover where SAs lose time and build high-impact solutions. You'll take what works for one person and scale it to work for the org. And when our most strategic customer engagements need custom technical assets, you'll build those too. This is a role for someone who wants to work at the intersection of engineering and business impact—close to customers, close to revenue, and building for people you can see using your work every day. Responsibilities Collaborate with Solutions Architects, SA leadership, Product, and Engineering to scope technical work and translate ambiguous business needs into well-defined deliverables Evaluate and integrate AI capabilities (LLMs, agents, workflow automation) where they provide genuine leverage—not for novelty, but for measurable productivity improvement Architect and build internal tools, agents, and automated workflows that accelerate SA and manager productivity across technical discovery, solution design, demoing, user engagements, territory/pipeline management, and product interlock Take high-potential tools and workflows built by SAs and managers and harden them into scalable, maintainable, production-grade solutions Identify patterns across SA workflows and proactively build solutions that address recurring friction Build custom demo environments, PoC applications, and technical assets for Stripe's most strategic customer engagements Document tools, architectures, and usage patterns so others can adopt and extend what you've built Debug, extend, and maintain backend systems across a variety of codebases and infrastructure Minimum Requirements 4+ years of experience as an engineer shipping production systems Strong backend engineering fundamentals: you can debug a failing system, trace issues across services, and reason about data flows Experience building and deploying AI agents, LLM-powered tools, or workflow automation beyond basic prompt engineering Experience scoping and delivering work with minimal oversight in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment Proficiency in at least two of: Ruby, Node.js, Python, or Next.js Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) including deployment, monitoring, and basic DevOps Experience building internal tools, developer platforms, or workflow automation Demonstrated ability to work across multiple codebases and technology stacks simultaneously Hands-on experience using AI/LLM tools in your engineering workflow—you're fluent with AI-assisted development but not dependent on it; you can reason through problems and debug without AI as a crutch Strong written and verbal communication skills; you can translate technical decisions for non-technical stakeholders and navigate cross-functional collaboration naturally Comfort with ambiguity—you can take a loosely-defined business problem, scope the engineering work, and ship iteratively without waiting for a perfect spec Preferred Qualifications Experience designing systems that non-engineers can build on top of or extend themselves (e.g., platforms, low-code frameworks, template systems) Experience in a Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or GTM Engineering role—or a product engineering role where you worked closely with customers or go-to-market teams Familiarity with Stripe's products, APIs, or the payments/fintech domain Experience integrating with third-party platforms (Salesforce, Gong, etc.) Track record of building tools or systems that were adopted beyond your immediate team Background in consulting, professional services, or other roles that blend technical depth with business context Who You Are Beyond the technical requirements, we're looking for a specific kind of engineer: You want to be close to the business. You're energized by seeing your work directly impact how a sales team wins a deal or how a customer succeeds. You're a pragmatic builder. You ship working solutions quickly, iterate based on real usage, and know when "good enough now" beats "perfect later." You'd rather show a working prototype today than present a roadmap deck next quarter. You're a software engineer by practice. You can architect systems, debug production issues, write clean code, and reason about tradeoffs. AI is a tool in your belt, not a substitute for engineering judgment. You're a pattern recognizer. When you build something that works for one person, you immediately see how it generalizes. You think in reusable systems, not one-off scripts. You thrive without a traditional product team structure. No PRDs landing in your lap, no dedicated PM, no sprint ceremonies. You identify the highest-leverage problem, scope the work, and ship it. You're comfortable trading on-call rotations and rigid processes for autonomy and impact. You're a strong communicator. You can partner with SAs who are domain experts, understand their workflows deeply enough to build great tools, and explain your technical choices to leadership.

A program builder who can run events and customer motions at the same time without dropping either. Comfort partnering closely with Customer Success and Sales. A reference and advocacy track record. An AI-first approach to scaling field and customer content. Ability to travel up to 25% travel Nice to Have Experience building a customer advocacy or reference program from scratch. PerfectServe's mission is to accelerate speed to care by optimizing provider schedules and routing communications — including messages, pages, calls, and alerts — to the right place at the right time in any care setting. By facilitating real-time information sharing, building better schedules, and automating important clinical workflows, we believe we can help our customers advance patient care and improve the well-being of their clinicians. Leading analyst firms like Gartner® and KLAS Research have consistently validated our approach: In 2026, PerfectServe was named highest in execution and furthest in vision in the Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for Clinical Communication and Collaboration — the clear segment leader. PerfectServe also received two Best in KLAS awards in 2026 — one for physician scheduling and another for ambulatory clinical communications. That makes for 11 Best in KLAS awards over the past 9 years. At PerfectServe, you'll have a unique opportunity to join a collaborative team with decades of experience that finds new ways to delight our customers every day. This involves consistent efforts to stay on the cutting edge of product development, which includes everything from implementing AI in new and existing solutions to brainstorming with customers about novel workflows. But you don't have to be in product to make in impact — everybody at PerfectServe contributes to important work that moves the business forward. If you're looking for a well-established, tech-forward company full of smart people doing meaningful work, you've found the right place! Analyst, Corporate Development & Strategic Partnerships for portfolio company of K1 Investment Management Reports to Chief Strategy Officer About PerfectServe PerfectServe builds the clinical communication and scheduling technology that helps physicians, nurses, and care teams deliver faster, safer care. Our cloud-based platform is used by more than 500 hospitals and 40,000+ ambulatory practices across the country, and we are backed by K1 Investment Management as we execute an aggressive growth strategy across both acute and non-acute healthcare markets. We've been at this for nearly 30 years, but we're moving like a company half our age: expanding through M&A, building AI-native products, and forming partnerships that extend our reach into new corners of healthcare. We hold tight to a set of core values, Collaboration, Integrity, Innovation, Service, Purpose, and Inclusion, and we need a diverse team that reflects the communities we serve to build technology that works for everyone. About the Role PerfectServe grows in two connected ways: through acquisitions and partnerships that extend our reach into new markets, and through the relationships with investors, partners, and advisors that make those deals possible. We're looking for a Corporate Development & Partnerships Analyst to support both. A significant part of this role is proactive sourcing: identifying acquisition and partnership targets directly, through research, outreach, and cold calling, rather than relying only on inbound opportunities. This includes finding targets in less obvious places, industry forums, conferences, and online communities, where companies worth a conversation show up before they're on anyone's radar. You'll own the pipeline from first contact, qualifying opportunities and keeping them moving. Alongside this, you'll support our partner ecosystem, channel, and strategic relationships that extend our reach outside of a full acquisition. You'll work directly with the Chief Strategy Officer and have regular interaction with PerfectServe's executive team, our board, our private equity sponsor K1, and outside advisors. This is a strong early-career opportunity to build a foundation in corporate development on a small, high-visibility team. The person who takes it will need to be comfortable with ambiguity and with doing outreach that doesn't always get a response but will get exposure to the full arc of how deals and partnerships get built, with room to grow into greater ownership as they prove themselves. We're looking for someone who is motivated by relationship-building and deal-making and wants to learn corporate development by doing the work firsthand. What You'll Do Sourcing and relationship building Build and maintain a pipeline of acquisition and partnership targets across PerfectServe's core and adjacent markets through proactive, off-market outreach Cold call and cold email owners, founders, and executives at target companies to open relationships and gauge interest, and keep doing it even when most calls don't land Find opportunities that don't come through conventional channels by digging into industry forums, conferences, trade associations, and online communities where smaller or less visible companies surface Keep a disciplined, up-to-date view of every relationship in the pipeline: where it stands, what the next step is, and when to follow up Represent PerfectServe at industry events and conferences to build the relationships that turn into future deal flow Advancing the pipeline Move prospects through the funnel: schedule and help run initial conversations, keep momentum after the first call, and know when and how to push a deal forward Build models and analyses to support deal screening and synergy sizing Support internal due diligence workstreams (commercial, financial, clinical/product, HR, technology) by organizing data requests, synthesizing findings, and flagging risks Draft board and investor-ready materials Help manage the mechanics of a live deal: data rooms, trackers, timelines, and coordination across internal and external workstreams Partner acceleration Maintain a structured view of PerfectServe's partner and channel relationships, including status, next steps, and owner Prepare materials and briefing documents ahead of partner and leadership meetings Support negotiation and documentation of partnership and referral agreements in collaboration with legal and the deal team Help track and report on partnership performance against the commercial case that justified the relationship Cross-functional and investor support Work closely with the CEO, CSO, and functional leaders to gather input and keep strategic initiatives on track Prepare board and investor-ready materials, including decks, one-pagers, and financial summaries Serve as a reliable point of coordination between PerfectServe, K1, and outside advisors on live workstreams What You'll Bring 2+ years of relevant experience, from investment banking, corporate development, sales, business development, or another role where you had to build relationships and move deals or prospects forward A genuine comfort with cold outreach: you don't flinch at calling someone who doesn't know you yet, and you know how to turn a first call into a second one A relationship-builder's instinct: you remember details about people, follow up without being asked, and build trust quickly Competitive, persistent, and resilient; you can make fifty calls, get told no forty-five times, and show up just as sharp on the next one Strong enough financial and analytical fundamentals to build a basic model or synthesize a diligence finding, with the willingness to sharpen those skills fast on the job Excellent written and verbal communication; you can represent PerfectServe credibly to a founder, a banker, or a board member Scrappy, resourceful, and low-ego: willing to do the unglamorous work because you know it's what moves the deal forward High motivation and a genuine hunger to learn how acquisitions and partnerships actually get built, not just modeled Experience or exposure to healthcare, healthcare IT, or SaaS is a plus but not required Why Join PerfectServe? At PerfectServe, we are transforming healthcare communication and collaboration to help clinicians deliver better care. You'll work with a dedicated and mission-driven team in an environment that values growth, transparency, and innovation. Compensation includes a competitive base salary plus a performance bonus structure, with total earning potential up to $120,000 for candidates who meet or exceed sourcing and deal targets. The compensation range listed for this role reflects our commitment to pay transparency and is based on market data, internal equity, and the scope of responsibilities. compensation will be determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's experience, skills, and the specific team or product area they support. Benefits: Remote first work environment Health, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability Insurance options available day one. 401K - with match and immediately vested. 17 company holidays, 2 floating holidays plus competitive paid time off policy Internal Advancement Opportunities PerfectServe offers unified healthcare communication solutions to help physicians, nurses, and care team members provide exceptional patient care.
