Platform Engineer (m/f/d)
Full TimeOn-siteMid
pythontypescriptgokotlingcpkubernetes+5

What we are building ecoplanet builds the operating system for the energy transition. Our software helps European businesses cut energy costs, run more efficiently, and take the pain out of managing energy day to day. We are around 40 people and backed by EQT Ventures, HV Capital and others. Why This Role Matters You build and run the platform the whole product sits on: the event streams, the backend services and the cloud infrastructure everything else is built on. Meter readings arrive from industrial sites across Europe, through messages or us accessing APIs. Your job is to make sure that traffic lands reliably, moves through the system in a shape other teams can build on, and keeps doing so as the number of sites grows. You join a team of 12 engineers in two squads. Small team, real ownership, and what you build reaches customers in weeks rather than quarters. What you will work on Event streaming. Kafka is the spine of the system. You own topic and schema design, partitioning, retention and delivery semantics and the everyday reality behind them: consumers falling behind, replays, backfills, late and duplicated readings. Backend services in TypeScript. The ingestion services, integrations and APIs around that stream. Every site is a little different, so a good part of the job is turning that variety into one consistent interface the product squads can rely on. Cloud infrastructure on GCP . Compute, networking, IAM, infrastructure as code, CI/CD and observability. The goal is a paved road: other engineers ship and debug their own services without going through you. Technical direction. You are senior enough to set it. Where we invest in the platform, what we standardise, what we deliberately leave rough for now and bringing the rest of the team along with it. What Sets You Up for Success Must have: At least 6–8 years building and running backend systems in production, including real time in a platform or infrastructure role that other engineers depended on Strong backend engineering in TypeScript. You have designed, shipped and operated services and APIs in it — not just touched it around the edges of a frontend Hands-on with Kafka in production. Topic design, consumer groups, ordering and delivery guarantees, and what you actually do at 3am when a consumer group is hours behind. A comparable streaming platform is fine if you know it at that depth Solid on GCP or an equivalent cloud: containers, networking and IAM basics, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, monitoring and alerting. You have owned infrastructure, not just deployed onto it Comfortable with high-volume time-series data: ingestion, data quality, backfills, and the everyday reality of late, missing and duplicated readings You have seen a few things. Enough production years behind you to know which trade-offs come back to bite, when the boring option is the right one, and how to make a call with incomplete information instead of waiting for certainty Kubernetes knowledge at the level of running it, not only deploying to it. Clear written and spoken English. German is a plus Nice to have: Energy, industrial, IoT or another domain where the data comes off real hardware Metering or device protocols, telemetry at scale, or streaming pipelines Knowledge of a second programming language, like Python, Go or Kotlin You run what you build: monitoring, alerting, and the occasional early morning debugging a pipeline What You Get Top-of-market team, flat hierarchy — work alongside people who push you to get better Competitive salary Full ownership from day one — you actively shape our company Central office, easy commute — free lunch every Tuesday and Thursday Wellpass membership Regular 1:1s and retros focused on your growth Real impact — your work supports Europe's transition to a smarter energy system Find Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow

Our mission is to make education financing more accessible and engaging, while giving brands a way to connect with the next generation. We're powered by AI technology that simplifies scholarship discovery, streamlines the application process, and delivers measurable results for both students and partners. Required Qualifications (Must Haves) Experience Level: 3+ years of professional experience in Mobile QA Engineering / Test Automation, with at least 1+ year actively incorporating AI coding tools into daily workflows. Mobile Automation Mastery: Hands-on experience with Flutter automation frameworks (Patrol, Flutter Integration Test, or strong Appium/XCUITest/Espresso skills with eager readiness to master Patrol). API & Schema Verification: Proficiency in testing GraphQL APIs (Bruno, Postman, Playwright, or HTTP clients), including schema validation, headers, and JWT auth flows. Mobile Ecosystem & Design: Comfort inspecting Figma files for UI specs/design tokens, using Xcode/Android Studio tools, managing Firebase Remote Config & feature flags, and navigating mobile app deployment lifecycles (Apple App Store / TestFlight, Google Play Console internal testing). CI/CD & Mobile DevOps: Experience with mobile CI/CD tools (Codemagic, GitLab CI) and Git/GitLab workflows. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in software development / test automation. Communication: Clear, concise async communication skills in written and spoken English for bug reporting, documentation, and remote collaboration. Nice to Have AI-Native Focus: Advanced proficiency loading architecture specs, GraphQL schemas, and UI design tokens into AI models to auto-generate test cases, Patrol page objects, and mock payloads. Dart & Component Testing: Direct Dart / Flutter coding ability to write unit and widget tests in-repo, as well as Flutter Storybook experience. OTA & Scripting: Experience with Shorebird (OTA hot patching for Flutter) or basic TypeScript / Bun experience for writing Bruno test collections or schema scripts. Cloud Infrastructure & Feature Flags: Exposure to GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud Logging) and Unleash feature flag management. Certifications: Certifications in Quality Engineering, Mobile Testing, or AI-Assisted Software Engineering. Bonus Skills (The "X-Factor") Cross-Platform & GraphQL Experience: Prior experience testing cross-platform Flutter applications connected to GraphQL backends in fast-paced product companies. Software Engineering Director
FanDuelEdinburgh, Germany20 days ago
Full TimeOn-siteDirector
javaflutterawsrestagilearchitecture+5

THE POSITION Our roster has an opening with your name on it Much of what decides whether a fan stays with FanDuel happens either side of the bet: the sign-up that takes a minute, the deposit that clears first time on a Sunday afternoon, the withdrawal that lands when we said it would, and the protections that work quietly in the background for the people who need them. We are looking for a Software Engineering Director to lead the teams behind that experience across FanDuel's Customer Product Engineering (CPE) domain. CPE builds the systems fans touch first and trust most: payments and money movement, account and onboarding, geolocation, responsible gaming and player integrity, and the promotions, rewards and loyalty, campaign orchestration, personalisation and marketing messaging that shape every fan's day-to-day experience. When CPE works, nobody notices. When it does not, a fan cannot get in, get funded, get paid or get looked after, and quality elsewhere in the product does not make up for it. The mission: make it quick and predictable for every fan to join, fund an account, get paid and be protected, in every jurisdiction we operate in, on the busiest day of the sporting calendar. Making every moment more, for our customers. Your work always follows our principle Everything Begins with the Customer. That means designing for extreme, event-driven peak load, where traffic arrives in minutes, and for a heavily regulated environment in which auditability and evidence matter as much as availability. It also means depending on other people's systems: payment providers, identity and KYC vendors, geolocation suppliers. You build so that their bad day does not become our customers' bad day. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will lead managers and senior engineers across several teams, set technical direction alongside your Principal and Senior Staff Engineers, make the difficult calls that do not have obvious answers, and create the conditions in which good teams do the best work of their careers. You will work as closely with Product, Compliance, Risk, Finance and Customer Operations as you do with engineers, and you can explain a technical trade-off to an executive audience without diluting it. You are candid about what is not working and you know when to look for consensus and when the decision is yours, Challenge and Commit. You wear your FanDuel hat first and do not restrict yourself to organisational boundaries, We are One Team. You are a visible part of the domain leadership team and a role model to the wider engineering community, Humble and Hungry. THE GAME PLAN Everyone on our team has a part to play Lead multiple engineering teams within CPE, setting a clear technical vision for each area and holding delivery to it. Own the customer outcomes your teams are accountable for, measured where the fan feels them: registration and verification completion, time to first bet, deposit and withdrawal success rates, payout speed, geolocation pass rates, and the availability of whole journeys rather than the uptime of individual services. Set the standard for availability and operational excellence in a domain where an outage stops the rest of the product working, including the KPIs, the instrumentation behind them, and the discipline to tell genuine degradation from noise. Prepare for event-driven peak load so that the biggest days in the sporting calendar are rehearsed, with capacity, failover and degradation behaviour proven in advance. Reduce the blast radius of third-party failure across payment providers, identity and KYC vendors and geolocation suppliers, using redundancy, graceful degradation and clear fallbacks so that a supplier's outage does not become a customer's. Treat regulation as an engineering requirement, designing for auditability, evidence, data boundaries and jurisdictional variation from the start, and building the relationship with Compliance and Legal that lets us move quickly and safely. Hold responsible gaming and player integrity to the same product standard as any revenue-generating feature. Fans should be protected by systems that are accurate and timely, and that stay out of the way of people playing well within their means. Simplify the estate you inherit. Retire duplicated capability, reduce coupling between teams and improve lead time to change, so the domain is easier to work in each quarter than it was the last. Set the standard for how AI is used across the software lifecycle in your teams, including where we choose not to use it, with evidence of the effect on throughput, quality and security and the judgment to tell real uplift from theatre. Partner with Product, Compliance, Risk, Finance and Customer Operations to shape the roadmap early, so that capabilities are designed in at inception. Make sure the right people are in the right jobs through hiring, development, performance management and creating leadership opportunities, and lead with empathy. Grow the managers and senior engineers who report to you, giving them the context and the scope to make decisions themselves rather than routing them through you. Make sure the domain is supported properly in production, including on-call and incident response, and that corrective actions are completed rather than logged. Deliver architecturally sound solutions to complex problems, making considered build-versus-buy decisions and designing for scale, reliability and a multi-year horizon. Communicate and progress strategic initiatives on a three to five year horizon covering platform evolution, money movement architecture and the shape of the domain. Be accountable for your budget, spend it carefully, and recognise waste in tooling, infrastructure, vendor services and payment processing costs. Exemplify our company principles and support a culture of quality, candour and collaboration. THE STATS What we're looking for in our next teammate We don't expect you necessarily to have all of these to apply but they all count. 10+ years in a software role, with 5+ years leading engineering teams. Experience leading other managers. A track record of delivering and running high-volume transactional systems where correctness, money and customer trust are all at stake, ideally in payments, financial services, identity or another regulated domain. Experience with highly available, fault-tolerant systems under extreme, event-driven peak load, from design through to production support. Experience building on third parties at scale, for example payment service providers, KYC and identity vendors or geolocation suppliers, including the operational and commercial realities of those relationships. Comfortable working in a regulated environment, where auditability, evidence and data boundaries shape the design. Experience with observability and with using data and KPIs to make engineering decisions and to hold a domain to a measurable standard of availability and performance. Deep experience in modern back-end languages, functional and object-oriented, including Java, and with cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS), containers and orchestration. Hands-on understanding of AI-assisted software development, with a considered view of where it belongs in the lifecycle, where it does not, and what a regulated environment allows it to touch. Experience defining and implementing software delivery practices and agile methods, with evidence of improving delivery pace while maintaining quality. Experience supporting software systems in production, including on-call, with a sustained focus on improving their stability, availability and performance. Experience delivering technology solutions with partner development teams through near-shore, off-shore or third-party arrangements. Experience designing and delivering technology for consumer-facing products in a fast-moving, ambiguous and closely scrutinised environment. Experience defining and executing a strategic technical vision, and the communication skills to carry it with engineers and executives alike. Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. THE CONTRACT We treat our team right Competitive compensation is just the beginning. As part of our team, you can expect: An exciting and fun environment committed to driving real growth Opportunities to build really cool products that fans love Mentorship and professional development resources to help you refine your game Flexible vacation allowance to let you refuel Hall of Fame benefit programs and platforms ABOUT FANDUEL FanDuel Group is the premier mobile gaming company in the United States and Canada. Senior Fullstack Engineer — Mobile Healthcare Platform
Full TimeOn-siteSenior
pythongorustflutterexpressaws+5

What you'll do We are a startup building a platform that is in daily use during patient care, and our direction changes as we learn. The engineer we are looking for is comfortable with that: someone who moves between backend, mobile, integration and platform work as the product demands, and who picks up new technologies quickly because their strength is in engineering fundamentals rather than any one stack. Right now that means, among other things, bringing our clinical mobile app to Android, evolving how our product integrates with hospital systems, and keeping our services dependable across cloud and on-premise deployments. Six months from now the list will look different, and you will help decide what is on it. We build AI-native: agents write a large share of our code, and the engineer's job is to design the system, specify the work precisely, and keep the codebase in a state where both humans and AI tools can understand and extend it safely. Your engineering judgement is the product here. Move across the stack as priorities shift: mobile UI, backend services, APIs, hospital integrations, platform and deployment work Own the architecture of the parts you touch: module boundaries, API contracts, data models, and the decisions behind them Direct AI coding agents to implement against your specifications, and review their output with the same rigour you would apply to a colleague's pull request Keep the codebase legible for readers without context: consistent conventions, small well-named units, documented rationale, tests that express intent Own service quality end to end: automated testing, CI/CD, observability, diagnosability in production Work with clinical data and healthcare interoperability standards Produce the technical documentation and evidence required in a regulated development process What we're looking for Several years of professional experience building and operating software in production, spanning both frontend or mobile and backend work, and a track record of changing roles or stacks when the product needed it Strong grasp of software architecture: you decompose problems into modules with clear contracts, think about dependency direction and ownership of state, and can explain why a boundary sits where it does Fluency with agentic AI development tools (for example Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot agents). You can describe a concrete workflow you use, where it breaks down, and which guardrails you put in place. You know which code you would never hand to a model unreviewed A specification and review mindset: you define "done" before starting, treat generated code as a hypothesis to verify, and notice missing edge cases and error paths Grounding in fundamentals that transfer across stacks: concurrency, data consistency, networking, API design, relational data. You have switched languages before and can judge whether unfamiliar code is idiomatic. Our backend is built with Python, Go, .NET and Rust; our mobile app is native iOS today, with Android coming next, likely in Flutter Mobile development experience, ideally Android or Flutter, including app lifecycle, background execution and offline behaviour Hands-on experience with containers, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines A structured, quality-focused way of working, comfortable in a regulated environment Professional English communication skills; German is a strong advantage Nice-to-have Experience with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, or interface engines like Mirth or Rhapsody Knowledge of DICOM and medical imaging workflows Experience developing regulated medical software or working in other safety-critical industries Experience deploying software in customer-managed or on-premise infrastructures AWS experience Why Snke A supportive, international team connected by shared values and a culture of trust Meaningful responsibilities with a lasting impact on global healthtech, improving medical decisions and patient outcomes 30 vacation days, plus December 24th and December 31st Flexible working hours and a hybrid work model within Germany Bike leasing via our partner "BikeLeasing" Parking garage and secure underground bike storage Subsidized company restaurant and in-house café Urban Sports Club membership with employer contribution Regular after-work, team, and company events Centrally located, modern workspace with a 212 m² rooftop terrace Ready to apply? About Pleo Messy spend management is tricky business. And tedious processes are a lose-lose situation for all involved, not just finance. At Pleo, we're changing that. We build spend solutions that make managing money seamless, empowering, and surprisingly effective for finance teams and employees alike - with a vision to help all businesses 'go beyond'. The word 'Pleo' actually means 'more than you'd expect', and living by that mantra has been the secret to our success over the last 10 years. Now, we're at a pivotal moment in our journey; every move we make has a direct impact on our 40,000+ customers, our business, and our collective success. We need people who take pride in uncovering customer needs, who turn complex problems into simple solutions, challenge the way things are done (respectfully), and always aim high. With great ambitions driving us forward, we can't say we've got this whole thing figured out. And frankly, that's half the fun! What we can say is that we're a driven, progressive, and, importantly, a kind bunch of 850+ people from over 100 nationalities, all committed to delivering the future of business spending, together. About the role We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Bank Infrastructure team at Pleo. This team builds and maintains the payment rails that power Pleo's money movement, integrating with banks and payment partners to handle inbound and outbound bank transfers reliably and at scale. You'll be working on some of the most critical systems at Pleo: the infrastructure that guarantees that each financial transaction, whether incoming, outgoing, or internal, is processed and settled with absolute accuracy, on time, and with the resilience to recover gracefully when things go wrong. If you're excited by the challenge of building highly reliable financial systems and want to work in a culture that values transparency, collaboration, and engineering excellence, this role is for you. What you'll be doing As a Senior Backend Engineer on Bank Infrastructure, you will: Design, build, and maintain integrations with banks and payment partners across multiple payment schemes (SEPA, Faster Payments, SWIFT, and others). Own the reliability and correctness of inbound and outbound payment flows, including reconciliation, settlement, and exception handling. Architect systems that are resilient to partner outages, network failures, and edge cases inherent in financial messaging. Lead initiatives to improve system observability, fault tolerance, and operational excellence across payment rails. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including compliance, finance operations, and product to evolve Pleo's payment capabilities. Participate in code reviews, post-mortems, and provide mentorship to other engineers. Proactively address technical debt and guide the team through technical challenges and migrations. What you bring You'll thrive in this role if you have: Hands-on experience building payment integrations, bank APIs, payment scheme integrations, or financial messaging formats (ISO 20022, SWIFT, SEPA, Faster Payments, or similar). Strong understanding of payment flows end-to-end: payment initiation, routing, reconciliation, settlement, and exception/failure handling. Experience designing and operating highly available, resilient distributed systems with robust error recovery and observability. Expertise in server-side development, ideally Kotlin or Java, with strong experience in microservices and distributed systems. Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL), cloud environments (AWS, Kubernetes), and observability tooling (e.g. Grafana). Awareness of payment compliance and regulatory considerations (e.g. AML, sanctions screening, PSD2) is a plus. Understanding of safeguarding of customer funds and the impact of money movement pipelines. Strong problem-solving skills and experience owning production payment systems through incidents and operational complexity. High proficiency with AI-enhanced development tools (such as GitHub Copilot or Claude) as integrated partners for system design, documentation, and code generation. Willingness to deepen your AI fluency as Pleo scales AI adoption across engineering. We're building a culture where thoughtful AI use for delivery velocity and quality. Proven ability to structure complex engineering problems for AI collaboration, including writing precise specifications, validating generated outputs, and iterative development. A proactive drive to expand your AI fluency as we scale adoption to enhance delivery velocity and maintain high engineering quality across our organisation. A collaborative mindset and the ability to mentor and upskill teammates. Who you'll be working with and reporting to You'll report to the Engineering Manager for Bank Infrastructure and work closely with cross-functional teams spanning product, finance operations, compliance, and other engineering squads within Pleo's Payments organisation. Bank Infrastructure is foundational to nearly everything Pleo does, your work will have direct dependencies with and from Card Infrastructure, Credit, and beyond. You'll collaborate with partners across the business to shape how Pleo moves money reliably at scale. How you'll develop in this role In your first six months at Pleo, you'll: Get deep into Pleo's payment rail architecture, understanding how inbound and outbound bank payment flows are built, monitored, and operated. Take ownership of meaningful initiatives in the bank integration or payment operations domain and drive them from design to production. Build relationships across the engineering organisation, contributing to code reviews and technical discussions beyond your immediate team. Grow your expertise in high-reliability, mission-critical financial infrastructure while contributing to Pleo's broader engineering culture. We're committed to supporting your growth, whether through expanding your payment systems expertise, stepping into broader architectural influence, or taking on technical leadership responsibilities as Pleo scales. Show me the benefits! Your own Pleo card (no more out-of-pocket spending!) Lunch is on us for your work days - enjoy catered meals or receive a lunch allowance based on your local office Comprehensive private healthcare - depending on your location, coverage options include Vitality, Alan or Médis We offer 25 days of holiday + your public holidays For our Team, we offer both hybrid and fully remote working options ️ Option to purchase 5 additional days of holiday through a salary sacrifice ❤️‍ We use MyndUp to give our employees access to free mental health and well-being support with great success so far Paid parental leave - we want to make sure that we're supportive of families and help you feel that you don't have to compromise your family due to work The interview process We want to ensure you are set-up for success and understand what will be expected of you. If your application is successful, our interview process is as follows: Intro call: A 30-minute chat with our Talent Partner to discuss the role and your background. Coding Interview (Multiple choice) System Design (whiteboarding session) Engineering Mananeer Behavioural Interview Transparency is important to us so we also wanted to share some insights about what we're looking for in applications to ensure you can set yourself up for success! Last time we hired this role, we received hundreds of applicants but could only speak with so many. Some of the key reasons why previous candidates didn't make it past the application screening stage include: CV writing and content: we receive a lot of CVs, and many of them are AI-generated. We love seeing people leverage AI—it's a big focus for us internally too—but without human intervention, these CVs can sometimes become generic and fail to show a candidate in the best light. What we're really looking for is the specific details of real impact that only you know from your previous experience. A top tip from us is to use the "Achieved X, as measured by Y, by doing Z" formula (credit: Laszlo Bock, ~2014) to give a really clear picture of what you've worked on. A final note: including links to your previous companies' websites is a huge help and allows us to truly understand your background! Application care: every single application we receive is reviewed by a human (yes, hundreds of them) because we believe that candidates' efforts should be matched by an equal level of human care. This means that we expect a similar level of attention put into your application. Read and answer the application questions carefully, they make a huge difference in our decision-making process. Profile to role fit: highlight most important aspects of the role, points that might get misunderstood, any specific industry requirements etc. About your application English first. Since it's our company language, please submit your application in English. You'll be using it a lot if you join us. A fair look for everyone. Our talent team reads every single application to ensure the process is fair. To keep things running smoothly, we only accept applications through our system—our support team can't pass on calls or emails. Diversity drives us. We can only reach our goals if our team reflects the world around us. That starts with you hitting apply, even if you don't tick every single box. We encourage people from all backgrounds and experiences to join us. Interview at your best. We want you to feel comfortable throughout the process. If you have any accessibility requirements or need a specific format, email belonging@pleo.io. We'll design a process that works for you. Your data is safe. When you apply, we process your personal data as a data processor. For more information on how Pleo processes personal data, read our Privacy Policy here . Applying for multiple roles? Nothing is stopping you, and we assess every role independently. However, we do look for alignment, so make sure you can explain why your interest and experience are right for each specific role. Reapplying. If you're applying for the same role again, please wait six months from your last decision before hitting submit.
