About Ratehub & the Role WHO IS RATEHUB? We're a company on a mission. We are a unique Canadian Fintech that is the one-stop shop for all financial needs of the consumer: Save, Spend, Borrow, Invest, and Protect. Every single team member — from Product & Engineering to Sales & Marketing, Finance, Operations, and everything in between — is obsessed with one thing: helping Canadians make better financial choices. And we're pretty great at it, too. Via our digital application technology and our award-winning in-house brokerages, we help over 2M Canadians per month make a positive impact on their finances. We have many unique businesses: a mortgage brokerage, a life insurance brokerage, a home and auto insurance brokerage, a mortgage originations and servicing business, a Financial Services Marketplace, and a content business across Ratehub and MoneySense. 365 days a year, we deliver our users the best online mortgage experience, personalized credit card and loan options, and cheaper auto and home insurance policies than they typically get from their existing financial adviser. Changing how people make financial choices isn't easy, though. We know that achieving our mission is full of challenges — challenges that can be complex and often unexpected but that are always interesting, rewarding, and fun to solve as a team. This is where you come in. We are on the hunt for the right candidate to join us and help lead us forward to continued growth. About the role We're looking for a Content Strategist to help grow Ratehub's organic presence and reach more Canadians through high-quality, data-driven content. This is a mid-level individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Organic Growth Manager. You'll work closely with the Sr. Mortgage Editor, VP of Mortgages, Content Team, PR Team, Email, Partnerships Team, and other cross-functional stakeholders. The role sits at the intersection of content strategy, SEO, GEO, analytics, content creation, and distribution. You'll use performance data, search trends, audience insights, and emerging AI search data to identify opportunities, make recommendations, and execute content initiatives that drive organic growth. As the Content Strategist dedicated to our Mortgage business unit, you'll work closely with the Sr. Mortgage Editor who will provide the majority of the mortgage insights, analysis, and subject-matter expertise. You don't need to be a mortgage expert when you join, but you'll be expected to develop a strong working knowledge of the Canadian mortgage market over time, so you can confidently translate expert insights into effective content and ensure what we produce is accurate, relevant, and useful to consumers. Your goal is simple: use content, search, data, and distribution to bring more qualified traffic to Ratehub.ca. You'll work across blogs, landing pages, newsletters, eblasts, social content, short-form video, forums, and emerging search channels, with a focus on measurable organic growth. What you'll do Develop a data-driven content and SEO/GEO strategy Develop a strong understanding of SEO and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and use SEO and AI Search Analytics platforms to monitor how Ratehub's content is appearing in traditional rankings and AI-generated answers. Use analytics, search data, audience insights, and content performance across both traditional and AI-powered search to identify opportunities and recommend what content to create, update, optimize, or retire. Analyze organic traffic, rankings, on-page engagement, conversions, and AI-search visibility (mentions and citations across LLMs and generative search platforms) to understand what's working and where there are opportunities to improve. Synthesia is the world's leading AI video platform for business, used by over 90% of the Fortune 100. Founded in 2017, the company is headquartered in London, with offices and teams across Europe and the US. As AI continues to shape the way we live and work, Synthesia develops products to enhance visual communication and enterprise skill development, helping people work better and stay at the center of successful organizations. Following our recent Series E funding round, where we raised $200 million, our valuation stands at $4 billion. Our total funding exceeds $530 million from premier investors including Accel, NVentures (Nvidia's VC arm), Kleiner Perkins, GV, and Evantic Capital, alongside the founders and operators of Stripe, Datadog, Miro, and Webflow. About the role As a Senior Frontend Engineer on our Website team, you'll be a co-owner of the platform behind synthesia.io : the component library, content model and rendering stack that every page on our marketing site is built from. You'll shape direction and make key technical decisions with the team, likely with a focus area of your own but context across the whole system. This is a hands-on engineering role, and your primary output is high-quality component and schema code, plus the tooling that lets others build with it. Millions of people visit synthesia.io every month, and it is one of the main ways we win new customers. That comes with real responsibility. The decisions you make are seen at scale, and we set the quality bar accordingly. The defining challenge of this role is composability: a marketing site that marketers, and increasingly AI agents, can build pages with, without breaking design, performance or SEO. You can expect to: Build, scale and evolve our section library: the Astro components, Sanity schemas and design tokens that let us compose marketing pages consistently and accessibly. Own the content model. Design schemas that resist misuse, so an editor, or an agent, can build a page that is correct by construction rather than correct by review. Take Figma component specs all the way to production: responsive across mobile, tablet and desktop, accessible by default, matching design intent precisely. Extend the platform for AI-assisted development, so coding agents can generate on-brand, on-spec sections from a design spec as reliably as a person can. Own SEO integrity as a first-class engineering concern: canonicals, sitemaps, structured data, redirects, and no traffic cliffs on launch. Raise the bar on engineering standards across the website surface: thorough code review, patterns others can follow, and tests around the parts that actually break. Maintain and extend localisation across nine locales and a translation pipeline, so the system works for a global audience. Shape the technical direction of the website platform over the next 6 to 12 months, and champion its adoption with the people who publish on it. What we're looking for At least five (5) years as a software engineer, including three (3) at senior level, building front end for content-driven or marketing platforms. Real ownership of a content model in Sanity. You've designed schemas other people had to live with, and you have opinions about references vs. embedded objects, when a variant belongs in the schema versus at runtime, and how to stop a section library sprawling. GROQ and Portable Text are familiar territory. Deep front-end expertise: expert HTML, CSS and TypeScript, with a strong command of component API design and the developer experience of a shared library. You can work end to end. Comfortable owning the server side as well as the front end: SSR, serverless and edge runtimes, API routes, a SQL database, secrets and CI. You should be able to take a feature from schema to component to the route that serves it without handing off, and be happy debugging something that only reproduces in production. Solid understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility and web performance, and comfortable building to WCAG 2.2 AA. Accessibility is part of your definition of done, not a separate pass. You care that marketing sites are measured, on performance, SEO, analytics events and conversion, and you're happy being accountable to those numbers. A strong sense of craft and attention to detail, and the judgement to balance design intent against engineering constraints. Strong communication and collaboration skills. You explain your reasoning, review generously, and treat levelling up the people around you as part of the job. Nice to haves Prior experience working on a large SaaS marketing website, at real traffic and with real stakes attached. Astro, or another islands or static-site framework. Cloudflare Workers, or another edge or serverless platform. Experience with AWS Lambda. Tailwind CSS v4, and experience working from a token-based design system. Experience, or strong interest, in making component libraries and content models consumable by AI agents. A strong design sensibility: an eye for visual detail and the judgement to push back on and improve design decisions, not just build them. Experience with localisation and internationalisation at scale for a global audience. Analytics and tag management implementation: dataLayer events, server-side tagging, getting attribution right without hurting performance. Our culture At Synthesia we're passionate about building, not talking, planning or politicising. We strive to hire the smartest, kindest and most unrelenting people and let them do their best work without distractions. Our work principles serve as our charter for how we make decisions, give feedback and structure our work to empower everyone to go as fast as possible. You can find out more about these principles here . The hiring process: 30 min call with our Technical Recruiter 45 min call with the Head of Website about your past projects 75 min practical exercise with one of our engineers. We hand you a real Figma section spec and work through how you'd model and build it. Collaborative, not Leetcode. 60 min call with leadership, focused on examples of collaboration, growth, and the details of your future team. Other important info: Our preference is for this role to be based either in-office or remote in London, UK. We can also accommodate remote workers elsewhere in Europe subject to compliance and right to work checks. This is full-time employment only, usually through OysterHR. No contractors possible. The role requires expert-level Paid Search knowledge, strong commercial judgement, confident client leadership and the ability to build narratives that connect platform innovation, automation, AI, data, measurement and audience behaviour to tangible business outcomes. It also requires a strong understanding of where Paid Search overlaps with Organic Search, Content, Digital PR, AI search environments, and the evolving Total Search proposition. Develop, evolve and champion our market-leading Paid Search proposition • Define and own the strategic vision for Paid Search across the relevant client portfolio and team, ensuring our approach remains industry-leading, commercially differentiated and aligned to evolving client, consumer and platform behaviours. • Own channel excellence for the team, setting clear standards for planning, activation, optimisation, governance, testing, measurement, reporting and client-facing recommendations. • Support the development and execution of the Paid Search proposition and product strategy and roadmap, including new services, frameworks, operating models and best practice approaches that can scale across clients and MM&D UK. • Champion the use of AI, automation and technology-enabled solutions in a scalable way, developing innovative client-specific solutions that create competitive advantage and unlock new growth opportunities. • Ensure the team remains at the forefront of innovation across Google, Microsoft, retail media, social search, search marketplaces, emerging search engines and AI-driven search experiences. • Translate broader client business challenges into Paid Search strategies that address growth, profitability, customer acquisition, demand generation, retention, conversion, market share and customer experience objectives. • Build proactive growth plans for the client portfolio they are accountable for, identifying opportunities for incremental revenue, scope expansion, product adoption, innovation pilots and strategic transformation. • Embed a proactive client culture where teams consistently identify opportunities to surprise and delight clients through innovation, improved performance, insight-led thinking, stronger narratives and market-leading recommendations. • Partner closely with SEO, Content, Digital PR, Analytics, Commerce, Audience and wider media teams to create integrated search solutions that maximise visibility, relevance and performance across the full customer journey. • Support the evolution of Integrated Search and the broader Total Search approach, connecting Paid Search, Organic Search, content strategy, AI search optimisation and measurement into a more joined-up client proposition. • Contribute to wider MM&D UK delivery initiatives, narratives and workstreams, ensuring Paid Search thinking is represented in agency-wide transformation, operational improvement, product development and thought leadership activity. • Work effectively with media partners such as Google, Microsoft and emerging search technologies to deepen capability, secure access to innovation, shape relevant POVs and translate partner developments into client value. • Bring together the appropriate specialists to ensure the development of appropriate client-specific measurement, attribution and technology solutions that solve paid search challenges and deliver measurable commercial outcomes. • Cooperate with wider WPP Media teams to elevate search standards, advance the Paid Search practice, shape the search agenda and support delivery of priority initiatives. Client strategy, proactivity and commercial growth • Act as a senior strategic advisor to client stakeholders, helping them understand how Paid Search can support broader business goals rather than operating as a standalone media channel. • Lead teams to interrogate client business context, market dynamics, customer behaviour, competitive pressure and commercial objectives, turning those inputs into ambitious but credible Paid Search strategies. • Ensure clients receive a gold standard product experience that is strategically progressive, data and technology led, commercially grounded and delivered in line with our product narrative. • Cultivate strong client relationships by providing exceptional operational output, clear strategic direction, proactive recommendations and a strong sense of ownership across every account. • Identify opportunities for growth across the Paid Search market and within the client portfolio, including new products, new scopes, automation-led efficiencies, performance improvement opportunities and integrated search propositions. • Identify and lead opportunities to expand Paid Search into broader Integrated Search and Total Search engagements, connecting SEO, Content, Digital PR, Analytics and wider media capabilities to solve client challenges and drive measurable business outcomes. • Ensure commercial objectives are fulfilled, including income growth, profitability, scope management, accurate forecasting and effective finance processes that reduce risk of write-offs, overspends and avoidable queries. • Lead Paid Search input into new business activity, codifying processes and reusable narratives that strengthen pitch quality, differentiation and conversion. • Support the creation of compelling client narratives that explain the role of Paid Search in a Total Search context. Considering a modern search behaviour, integrated planning, AI-enabled discovery, performance growth and customer decision-making. Delivery excellence, governance and operational standards • Implement best practice across the department by identifying, improving and rolling out processes that raise delivery quality, efficiency, consistency and client confidence. • Use automation and new technologies to enhance workflow systems, reduce manual effort, improve QA, support faster insight generation and increase the strategic value of team outputs. • Ensure teams apply robust QA, governance, data security, privacy and risk mitigation standards across all clients and delivery processes. • Work closely with data and analytics teams to develop sophisticated reporting and measurement frameworks that provide clients with actionable insight, clear performance narratives and business-focused recommendations. • Maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional and central teams across the agency, ensuring Paid Search is effectively integrated into wider media planning, performance strategy and client transformation programmes. • Work across MM&D UK to ensure Paid Search is connected into overall marketing strategy, client operating models and agency-wide delivery priorities. • Act as the point of contact between partners and clients, ensuring clients have appropriate access to support, strategic direction, innovation opportunities and senior escalation routes when required. Industry leadership, reputation and thought leadership • Represent WPP Media at industry events, conferences, seminars and partner forums to showcase thought leadership and strengthen the agency's reputation in Paid Search and modern search. • Work in partnership with platforms and industry partners to ensure the agency has an ever-evolving search POV that is practical, differentiated and useful for clients. • Develop thought leadership, POVs, case studies, award entries and client-facing narratives that demonstrate the strategic value of Paid Search, Integrated Search and Total Search. • Submit and win award entries by identifying exceptional work, shaping strong effectiveness stories and encouraging teams to recognise and codify excellence. About the Role: The Senior Ecommerce Manager is a blended leadership role, combining trading expertise with marketing channel strategy to drive holistic ecommerce performance across a client account or vertical. You will be the primary commercial and strategic owner for your accounts – taking full accountability for both site trading performance and the quality of marketing execution across all digital channels. You'll define what success looks like for your accounts, build the plans to get there, and lead your team through delivery. You'll own the performance and strategic narrative, drive trading and marketing strategy, and bring the commercial judgement to know when to hold course and when to change it - while staying close enough to execution to maintain standards and momentum. Acting as the bridge between the Ecommerce Manager layer and the Head of Ecommerce, this is a senior individual contributor role with team management responsibilities. You'll bring equal capability across trading (conversion, AOV, promotional planning) and marketing (paid and organic channel strategy), using data and insight to continuously push performance forward. Key Responsibilities: Trading & Site Performance Lead the trading strategy for your accounts, with ownership of KPIs including revenue, conversion rate, AOV, COS, and ROAS. Oversee and drive the promotional calendar for key events, seasonal campaigns, and brand activations - sharing insight across channels for joined-up planning. Use THG's reporting platform, GA4 and third-party analytics tools to analyse customer behaviour, identify opportunities, and optimise conversion funnels. Conduct regular competitor pricing, product, and promotional analysis to keep clients ahead of the market. Ensure site content is current and commercially optimised - banners, offers, product pages, category navigation - in line with the trading plan. Stay close to platform development and new feature releases, proactively identifying and championing enhancements that can drive commercial performance - from promotional mechanics and personalisation tools to checkout optimisation and site speed improvements. Marketing & Channel Leadership Act as the central leadership point of contact across all marketing channels - SEO, PPC, Paid Social, CRM, Affiliates, and Influencers - briefing channel teams and ensuring overarching strategy alignment. Create in-depth performance forecasts to inform channel budgets and be responsible for owning the overall optimisation and allocation of spend based on live performance data. Manage and continuously optimise marketing budgets, balancing promotional investment with COS reduction targets. Drive new customer acquisition strategies alongside CLV maximisation through retention, loyalty, and lifecycle marketing. Partner with creative, brand, and data science teams to deliver high-quality campaign assets and customer insights. Leverage CRM and email platforms (e.g. THG Personify or 3 rd party equivalent) to support segmentation, personalisation and retention strategies. Lead the preparation and delivery of QBRs and monthly reviews — translating data into compelling performance narratives and actionable recommendations.
