Head of Direct Marketing
LendableLondon, Germany23 days ago
Full TimeOn-siteDirector
machine learningforecastingcompliancecompliancesourcinglogistics+1

About Lendable Lendable is on a mission to build the world's best technology to help people get credit and save money. We're building one of the world's leading fintech companies and are off to a strong start: One of the UK's most exciting unicorns with a team of over 800 people Among the fastest-growing tech companies in the UK Profitable since 2017 Backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs Loved by customers with the best reviews in the market (4.9 across 10,000s of reviews on Trustpilot ) So far, we've rebuilt the Big Three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance . We get money into our customers' hands in minutes instead of days. We're growing fast, and there's a lot more to do: we're going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions worth of financial products are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes. Join us if you want to Take ownership: you are trusted to make decisions that drive a material impact on the direction and success of Lendable from day 1 Work in small teams of exceptional people: Lendies are relentlessly resourceful. We challenge the status quo to solve problems and find smarter solutions Build the best technology in-house : we use new data sources, machine learning and AI to make machines do the heavy lifting About the role We're entering a once-in-a-company moment: a major step-change in our D2C marketing investment, a full rebrand of the company and product under the Zable brand, and a marketing function being built out at pace. This is one of the most exciting marketing builds in UK fintech right now, with the financial strength, customer base, and product depth to back it up. Direct Marketing is one of our highest-potential channels and we're hiring a leader to turn it into a scaled, precise, and defensible growth engine. We're looking for a Head of Direct Marketing to own the channel end-to-end: creative, sends, logistics, offers, and reporting, sourcing the data pipeline and user-data enrichment that let us target the right customer, with the right offer, at the right moment. Addressed direct mail is the core today, and you'll have the scope to extend into other formats. You'll lead the channel's dedicated analysts and work with our creative team. Your job is to set the direction: decide who we mail, with what offer and when, commission and challenge the selection and response models, and hold every campaign to CAC and LTV targets. Standalone direct marketing roles with this kind of budget and autonomy are rare. If you've got significant experience in acquisition mail and want to build and extend a channel your own way, at a profitable business with the product range and analytical capabilities to make it work, this is the role. What we're looking for: Essential: 5+ years in direct marketing, including at least 2–3 years owning an acquisition DM programme end to end: strategy, budget, data, production and results. A track record of mailing cold prospects at meaningful scale. You'll be able to talk through the volumes, budgets, response rates and CPAs you've been accountable for. Commercial ownership: you build the business case, forecast volumes and returns, and judge results on a marginal CAC basis rather than vanity metrics. Experience procuring data: working with data suppliers on list selection, screening, enrichment and cost. Deep knowledge of the DM supply chain: print, lettershop, Royal Mail products (Advertising Mail, Mailmark, partially addressed, door drops) and suppression (MPS, goneaways, deceased). A strongly commercial approach. You build the business case, forecast volumes and returns, own the channel P&L, and measure spend on CAC, ROI and payback rather than pieces mailed. Strong analytical judgement. You design test cells and holdouts, read results critically, and understand response and propensity modelling well enough to brief analysts, challenge their work and turn it into mailing decisions. Experience managing suppliers: tendering, negotiating, setting SLAs and keeping several partners to schedule. The ability to run a multi-drop campaign calendar across products, segments, creative, compliance sign-off, production and mail dates. Experience leading analysts and working closely with creative teams. A clear communicator who earns the trust of finance, risk, compliance and data teams. Demonstrable use of AI in your workflow. Desirable: Experience in acquisition mail in financial services, especially credit cards or loans, including prescreened or pre-approved offers and risk-based targeting. Experience standing up a data pipeline or enrichment stack (first-party + third-party / bureau data) Experience building a channel or function from scratch Background hiring and developing an analytics or design team You're a good fit if you're: Acquisition-minded: you're energised by finding new customers, not re-contacting existing ones. Commercially driven: you measure success in incremental LTV and payback, not response rate alone. A first-principles thinker: you argue from data and clean experiments, not received wisdom Organised: you can run several drops across multiple suppliers and still hit mailing deadlines. Energised by greenfield: you'd rather build the engine than tune someone else's What you'll be doing Strategy and commercials Own the direct marketing strategy and set volume, response and payback targets anchored to LTV. Own the channel P&L: forecasting, budget and CAC/LTV discipline. Decide how far and how fast to scale, based on the economics. Data and targeting Source and buy prospect data from bureaus and brokers, and combine it with our first-party data. Direct the analysts building the response and propensity models that decide who we mail, with what offer and when. Work with risk analysts to shape offers around eligibility and lifetime value. Campaigns and supplier management Plan and run the campaign calendar, from data selection to the mail landing on doormats. Select, negotiate with and manage print and postal suppliers on cost, quality and turnaround. Brief the creative team on packs, copy and offers, and take them through compliance sign-off. Reporting & Team Build the reporting that ties sends to funnel, revenue and LTV and report on channel performance Partner with data, product, risk, finance and the creative team to unlock targeting and offers Hire and develop the team as the channel scales, and use AI to let a small team punch above its weight Life at Lendable Winning team: the opportunity to scale up one of the world's most successful fintech companies Flexible working: flexible approach tailored to each role. Hybrid roles require three days in-office weekly; fully remote roles include regular opportunities for in-person connection through socials and off-sites Socials & connection: opportunities and events to come together, socialise, and get to know each other beyond the office walls Health coverage: support for your physical and mental wellbeing, including private health cover Retirement & savings: long-term financial wellbeing through retirement savings plans Employee referral programme: earn a competitive bonus when you refer successful new team members Office meals & snacks: enjoy a fully stocked kitchen, plus complimentary lunches prepared by in-house chefs on in-office days at select locations Sustainable commuting: cycle-to-work and electric vehicle salary sacrifice schemes available in select locations Please note: The availability and details of specific benefits vary by location and role. At Vanta, our mission is to help businesses earn and prove trust. We believe that security should be monitored and verified continuously, and we empower companies to practice better security and prove it with ease. Vanta has a kind and talented team, and while some have prior security experience, many have been successful at Vanta without it. As a Solutions Engineer, you'll serve as a trusted technical voice, guiding customers toward clarity, feasibility, and alignment on the end-to-end solution. Because Vanta is the platform our customers rely on to build and run their GRC programmes, this is a natural next step for GRC professionals, programme managers, auditors, and compliance practitioners who want to apply their domain expertise in a strategic, customer-facing pre-sales role. You'll be an integral part of the Sales team, working to ensure technical fit and create innovative solutions for our customers. Your attention to detail, focused on customer needs, will ultimately improve retention and overall success. This role will be based from our London office or Dublin office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. GRC practitioners are especially encouraged to apply—whether you've managed GRC programmes in-house, audited them as an internal or external auditor, or helped customers meet their GRC programme needs at a GRC vendor, you'll bring exactly the customer empathy and domain fluency this role thrives on. What you'll do as a Solutions Engineer at Vanta: Serve as a strategic sales partner, owning the technical relationship with prospects and customers. Strategic Discovery and Deal Qualification: Partner with Account Executives to uncover technical, operational, and business pain points, validating use cases and aligning solutions to measurable customer impact and urgency. Secure the Solution Win and Alignment: Validate technical feasibility, drive clarity on success criteria, and guide stakeholders toward a shared vision for the end-to-end solution (The Solution Win: Desirable, Viable, and Aligned). Validate the feasibility of standard and semi-complex integrations and confirm alignment with customer environments, workflows, and architectures. Solution Strategy and Deal Shaping: Partner with the Account Executive to align the customer's success criteria with Vanta's unique strengths, proactively surface technical risks, and propose clear pathways to ensure focused deal progression and mutual success. Post-Sale Handoff and Continuity: Ensure a seamless transition to the post-sales team by creating and completing a handoff document that captures the finalised solution design, expectations, and any known risks or constraints. Cross-Functional Feedback: Act as a trusted technical voice, listening carefully to customers to provide structured market feedback to the Product team to prioritise functionality and drive sales opportunities. Support customers throughout their trial process with Vanta. Cultivate an environment of teamwork, openness, creativity, and continuous improvement. How to be successful in this role: Must be able to work in our London office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Have 5+ years of customer-facing, technical experience as a solutions engineer, sales engineer, GRC consultant, or equivalent customer-facing role, including previous B2B SaaS experience. Strategic Problem Solver: Possess deep technical proficiency to identify and validate technical, operational, and business pain points, driving clarity on solution requirements (Viable Solution Win). Exceptional Communicator: Exhibit outstanding communication, storytelling, and active listening abilities, capable of delivering tailored, high-impact demonstrations that reinforce the sales narrative (Command of the Message). About Zego 🚀 At Zego, we're on a mission to do the good thing, not the insurance thing. Insurance hasn't changed much in over a century. The way we live, work and travel has. We're building the real-time, AI-driven infrastructure that powers innovative insurance, so good drivers get cover that works the way they actually drive. We're not just updating insurance; We're leading the AI evolution in insurance 🤖 For us, AI isn't a line on a roadmap or a buzzword on a slide. It's our operating reality, and it's how we build products that back drivers instead of the old insurance playbook. We don't do things slowly, and we don't do bureaucracy. We back high-performance builders who want ownership, early responsibility and the chance to do the most career-defining work of their lives. You'll get the space to try things, the tools to move fast, and the room to see your ideas reach millions of drivers. Do not take our word for it. Read what Zegons say about us on Glassdoor . If you're ready to build the future of insurance, we're hiring. Purpose of the role As Head of Pricing - Insurance at Zego, you will lead the insurer's technical view of the models that drive our pricing. That covers the actuarial risk models behind our net rates, the demand and market models, and any other predictive model used for pricing and underwriting decisions. The models are built by the MGA pricing teams using a mix of traditional techniques (GLM, GAM, GBM) as well as new AI driven approaches. Your role is to make sure that we, as the insurer, can form an actuarial view on all of them, validate what sits underneath, and stand behind the rates it carries. On the actuarial risk models you will go further still, joining those projects from the start and owning the independent validation end to end. You will do this as the senior technical voice in a small actuarial team, which brings real breadth alongside the depth. Alongside the models you will review pricing and underwriting proposals across both personal and commercial motor in close collaboration with our underwriting team, and you will bring the modelling view into portfolio management. You will work directly with the MGA pricing teams, with underwriting and with our co-insurance partners, with access to senior leadership and to decision making from the first week. What you will be working on Lead the insurer's technical view across the full model landscape: the actuarial risk models, the demand models, the market and optimisation models. For each one the questions are the same: is the approach sound, can the output be trusted, and are we using it the way we intend to. Bring an actuarial view to all modelling approaches including AI driven models. Methods move quickly, you need to keep up. Go deeper on the actuarial risk models that set our net rates: join each project, independently validate the modelling decisions, the rating factor choices and the assumptions applied, and evidence the basis for each. Review, validate and challenge pricing and underwriting proposals across personal and commercial lines, working closely with our underwriting team: tactical pricing changes, full model updates, optimisation algorithms, new underwriting rules and renewal capping. Contribute to portfolio management and portfolio insight: what the KPIs are telling us, what is driving the movements, and what the modelling view says about where performance is heading. Support the insurer's position with our co-insurance partners on the net rates, the quality of the models behind them and the validation we have carried out. Mentor and coach junior actuarial colleagues. Help build the processes, the governance and the tooling, including AI, that allow a small and senior team to work faster and more robustly. What you will need to be successful in the role A qualified actuary, or an equivalent track record inside an actuarial pricing team, with at least ten years of hands-on modelling experience. Deep experience of classic actuarial risk modelling: GLMs built in Emblem, Akur8 or equivalent, with Python used in practice rather than in principle. Real exposure to the newer modelling approaches alongside the classic ones, such as GBMs and other machine learning methods, and the confidence to form an actuarial view on a method you have not built yourself. Experience with UK motor pricing. Experience with other lines of business is an advantage. Experience with newly launched portfolios, or portfolios with limited history. Experience with telematics products and their pricing. The judgement to say whether a model can be trusted, backed by having seen models work and seen them fail. Comfort in a small team with high influence and direct access to decision making, and a genuine interest in developing a less experienced colleague.
