Senior Support Engineer
Town WebRemote (Fully Remote)31 days ago
InternshipFully RemoteSenior$85,000 - $105,000 / Year
gorestjirateachingsalesonboarding+1

Headquarters: United States URL: https://townweb.com Senior Support Engineer Town Web · HeyGov · ClerkMinutes. Remote, Central US hours. $85,000 to $105,000 a year. Open to candidates in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. About us We make municipal software built for clerks: websites residents can use, forms and payments that replace stacks of paper, and meeting minutes drafted after every meeting. More than 1,300 local governments rely on us, from counties and cities to villages and towns. We have local government clients in almost every state in the U.S. Our clients are municipal clerks and the government teams around them. They keep city hall running and rarely get thanked for it. Your job is to make working with us the easy part of their week. The role This is the senior seat on our Client Success team. We are hiring you to raise the standard of our support: fix what is broken, write down how it should work, and show what great looks like. Our AI agent now answers repeatable, well-documented questions. What is left is the work that only a person can do: own a client's problem from the first message to the confirmed fix, build a relationship a clerk trusts, and turn what you learn into better documentation and a better product. This is not a ticket-closing job. Think of a great 5-star hotel that puts slippers by the bed before you ask. We want a clerk to finish a conversation with you and tell the clerk in the next town about the great experience they had. If that takes three calls, take three calls. It is also a technical job. You will work with our developers every day. When something breaks, you work out where it lives before anyone else has to. Is the problem on the events calendar on the client's homepage, or in the calendar widget embedded on a department page? Is the wrong speaker name only in the transcript, or is it also in the finished minutes? You reproduce it, write it up so a developer can act without a follow-up question, stay on it until it ships, and tell the client yourself. You need both halves. A brilliant troubleshooter who is short with a clerk will not work here. Neither will a lovely person who forwards every problem to a developer. Your first 90 days Learn all of our products well enough to teach them Take over every open escalation and close or schedule each one Rebuild the path from support to our developers so nothing leaves the queue untracked Find the ten questions clerks ask most and fix each at the source: an article, a Fin answer, or a product change What you will do Raise the standard Design how issues move from support to developers, and keep that path working Set the bar for replies, calls, and write-ups, and coach teammates by example Turn what you fix into playbooks the team and Fin can follow Delight clients Make every interaction feel personal, warm, and unhurried, especially for less technical users who would rather talk to a person than read a help article Step in when the AI agent or the documentation is not enough, and make sure the client feels heard and helped, not processed Treat client sentiment as the real measure of success, not ticket speed Look for small moments to go above and beyond, and share what works so it becomes how the whole team operates Own the problem from start to finish Be the named person on an account when things go wrong: one owner, one plan, regular updates, until the client says it is fixed Step in early when an account shows strain (repeat tickets, a rough launch, a frustrated message) and run the recovery. Get on a call, write down what is open, set dates, follow through Make sure nothing sits untracked once it leaves the support queue Diagnose, then escalate Work out which product and which layer an issue lives in before you hand it to a developer Reproduce it, capture the steps with screenshots or a recording, and file it in Linear with everything a developer needs Check on your open Linear issues, chase what is stuck, and confirm the fix with the client Use Claude, connected to our code repository, to trace where a behavior comes from. For small, well-understood fixes, draft the change for a developer to review Knowledge base and AI support Inherit and maintain the help center for all of our products. It is what our AI agent (Fin, in Intercom) answers from Write and improve articles from real, recurring questions, on a weekly rhythm measured against live ticket volume Write troubleshooting guides that separate look-alike problems, so the next person, or Fin, can tell them apart Tune Fin: review where it failed, fix the article, and teach it to ask a clarifying question when a request could mean two things Record short training videos so clients can learn at their own pace Support and onboarding Handle the conversations Fin cannot resolve across Town Web (websites), HeyGov (forms, payments, reservations, campaigns), and ClerkMinutes (agendas, transcripts, minutes) Help new clients through onboarding with the projects team so they reach value quickly Talk with clerks by phone and video every week. Get on a call whenever a situation needs a human voice Account care Build real relationships with your assigned accounts Understand what each client is trying to accomplish, what they use, what they do not know we offer, and where they will need help before they ask Run proactive, recurring check-ins instead of waiting for tickets. For example, reach out a few weeks after go-live to review how their forms are performing Use product usage data to spot clients who are not getting full value yet Meet clients in person. Join us at clerk conferences and marketing events a few times a year. We cover all travel & lodging expenses Spot opportunity Tell clients about services they do not use yet (digital forms, payments, .gov domains, accessibility, training) without it feeling like a pitch Flag possible expansion and renewal opportunities to the sales team Training Get clients to real proficiency with the product, not just past their immediate question Work with Product Managers to co-host webinars about new features and training Tools you will use: Intercom and Fin, Linear, Claude, our help center, screen recording, Zoom phone. How we work Delight over deflection. The goal is happy, successful clients, not fewer conversations Ownership over routing. A hard case is yours until it is resolved Diagnose before you escalate. A developer should never have to ask what the client actually saw Documentation is the foundation everything else runs on, not an afterthought Teaching over ticket-closing. Proficiency, not just an answer Who you are You like people, and it shows. Clerks are often not technical, sometimes stressed, and now and then upset. You pick up the phone gladly and leave them calmer than you found them Hospitable by nature. A background in hospitality or another service-first field is a plus You have done support somewhere known for it. The standard we have in mind is Basecamp: competent, calm, and trusted to make the call Technically deep. You read the error, open the browser console and the network tab, check a DNS record, find your way around WordPress, and follow the trail into the code with Claude's help At home with developers. You know what a good bug report contains and you have filed plenty High autonomy. You decide, act, and report. You do not wait to be told A clear, warm, precise writer, with clients and across teams A natural teacher, patient with less technical users Able to see the whole account, not just the ticket in front of you Who you might be Someone who worked the Genius Bar at an Apple Store and misses solving problems for a person, not a queue Someone who learned support at a company known for it, such as Basecamp, Automattic, or Help Scout A hotel or hospitality professional who moved into software and kept the instincts A former municipal or deputy clerk who was always the one who figured out the software. You already know our clients' world Or maybe none of these! If the rest of this page sounds like you, we certainly want to hear from you This is not the job for you if You would rather work a queue than talk to people You find non-technical users frustrating You want to hand a problem to a developer and move on You need someone to tell you what to do next Work style Independent and ownership-driven. You do not need heavy oversight to perform Comfortable wearing several hats across products and brands Comfortable in a lean, documentation-first team Proactive rather than reactive with accounts What success looks like Clients describe working with us as a great experience No client has to ask who is handling their problem. They already know it is you Issues you file get fixed without a developer asking for more detail Tickets stop recurring, not just get answered Help center articles created or improved every week, and Fin resolving more each month Repeat questions turned into product fixes or automation Expansion and renewals tied to the accounts you touch Account relationships that are trusted, not just responsive The rest of the team gets better because you are on it Requirements Experience Five or more years in technical support or support engineering at a software company, working directly with engineers An issue tracker used daily: Linear preferred, Jira or similar is fine Intercom or similar support tooling, including work with an AI support agent A knowledge base you wrote that other people relied on AI tools such as Claude already part of your daily work Nice to have: government or municipal software, WordPress-based websites, hospitality or other service-first work Able to travel within the US a few times a year. Not required, but very helpful to understand our customers better. How to apply Apply through Workable. You will answer two short questions in writing and record a two-minute Loom video teaching us one thing Complete the Culture Index survey. You can do it right after you apply. We only review candidates who have completed it Interview with our Head of Client Success Paid take-home exercise built from real client situations Conversation with our CTO and founder, including a short role-play call with a clerk who needs help Offer letter, if selected Benefits Salary of $85,000 to $105,000 a year, depending on experience 20 paid vacation days, plus public holidays for your country of residence Fully remote, working Central US hours Internet stipend Gym membership or wellness stipend We do not offer a health plan or a 401(k) today. PrediumMunich, Germany31 days ago
Full TimeOn-siteDirector

Team: Office-first im Werksviertel München, 4 Tage/Woche. 30 Urlaubstage (inkl. Betriebsurlaub) · Wellpass · Deutschland-Ticket · Jobrad · Team-Events Find Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow

Forward Deployed Engineer - AI
Full TimeOn-siteMid
pythontypescriptgorawsazure+17

Enterprises are adopting AI faster than they can govern it — and they are looking for a partner who can do two things at once: speak credibly about AI trust, governance, and security, and actually build. The Forward Deployed Engineer (AI) is that partner. You are the technical face of AvePoint inside client organizations: equally comfortable whiteboarding AI trust and governance concepts with a CISO, translating a business problem into a scoped AI build project, and writing the first working prototype yourself. You embed with clients, ship real outcomes, and own the engagement end to end. This is not a pre-sales role with a demo script, and not a back-office delivery role. It is the engagement model pioneered by leading AI companies for their strategic enterprise customers: a senior engineer deployed forward, with the autonomy to own the problem from first workshop to production. What you'll do Advise on AI trust and governance. Lead workshops that help clients understand and take control of their AI landscape — agents, copilots, models, and the data behind them, including the shadow AI they didn't know about. Explain AI governance, security posture, and resilience concepts credibly to both technical teams and executives. Guide clients through obligations such as the EU AI Act, NIS2, and ISO 42001, and help them stand up practical operating models: AI inventories, approval workflows, risk classification, and audit evidence. Scope and shape AI build projects. Sit with business stakeholders to understand the underlying need behind "we want AI for X." Identify the highest-value use cases, define success criteria, and translate ambiguous requirements into concrete, estimable technical scopes — architecture outlines, data and integration requirements, delivery phases, effort and risk assessments. Write statements of work that engineering teams can actually deliver and clients can actually sign. Build and deliver. Develop prototypes and production components for client AI solutions: agent workflows, RAG pipelines, LLM integrations (Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex, Anthropic), MCP-based tool integrations, and the governance and security controls around them. Deliver custom adapters and local tooling for regulated, cloud-restricted, or air-gapped environments where standard SaaS approaches cannot go. Own the relationship through delivery. Act as the trusted technical advisor from first workshop through go-live: run enablement sessions, support adoption, troubleshoot in production, and expand the engagement where you see genuine value for the client. What we're looking for Must-haves 5+ years in software engineering, solutions architecture, or technical consulting, with at least 2 years hands-on with modern AI/LLM systems in real projects (not only experimentation). Practical experience building with LLM APIs and frameworks (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Bedrock, Vertex, LangChain, Semantic Kernel) and patterns such as RAG, agentic workflows, and tool/function calling. Machine Learning Expertise: Hands-on machine learning experience spanning model development, evaluation, deployment, and operationalization, with a focus on enterprise AI solutions, predictive analytics, and scalable MLOps practices. Strong programming skills in Python and/or C#/TypeScript, plus working fluency with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including identity, networking, and data services. Demonstrated ability to scope technical projects from ambiguous business requirements: you can run a requirements workshop, challenge assumptions constructively, and produce a credible plan with phases, estimates, and risks. Excellent communication in front of senior stakeholders — you can explain why AI governance matters to a board member and debate vector database trade-offs with a platform engineer in the same meeting. Willingness to travel to client sites and to operate with high autonomy in ambiguous, fast-moving engagements. Strong pluses Working knowledge of AI governance and compliance frameworks: EU AI Act, NIS2, ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF, or Gartner's AI TRiSM model. Experience with AI security topics: prompt injection, data leakage, agent permissioning, model and data security posture (AI-SPM/DSPM concepts). Familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP), agent runtimes, or vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate, Chroma). Background in enterprise data governance, security, backup/resilience, or the Microsoft 365 / multi-cloud ecosystem where AvePoint operates. Experience delivering into regulated industries (public sector, defense, financial services, healthcare) or air-gapped/sovereign environments. Prior experience in a forward-deployed, embedded consulting, or customer-facing engineering role. Additional languages relevant to your region's client base. How we'll measure success Within your first 6–12 months, you will have led AI discovery and governance workshops for multiple enterprise clients, scoped and won at least one significant AI build or governance engagement, and delivered working software into a client environment. Above all: clients ask for you by name. Why this role, why now AI adoption has outrun enterprise control, and regulators have noticed. Every large organization now needs to see, govern, secure, and sustain its AI estate — and most need a partner who can both advise and build. As an FDE at AvePoint you will help define this engagement model from the ground floor, work at the frontier of agentic AI and AI trust, and do it with two decades of enterprise data governance and resilience expertise behind you. #LI-SB1 Any personal data you share with us during the application process will be processed strictly in compliance with applicable data protection laws and our Privacy Notice . Staff Engineer (f/m/d) AI
plancraftRemote (within Germany) (Fully Remote)31 days ago
Full TimeFully RemotePrincipal€30,000 - €30,000 / Year
typescriptgorustkotlinreactexpress+8

OUR PURPOSE AT PLANCRAFT Building the backbone of European trades together – with AI-first software. We're not just building software – we're on a mission to create space for contractors & tradespeople by equipping them with AI solutions that work the way they do: fast, practical, and AI-first. With Tier 1 Investors from Europe and the US, like Headline and Creandum as well as 30,000+ tradespeople as customer base, we're scaling across Europe to turn scattered tradespeople into thriving communities. We believe in zero admin, not zero personality – and we build every feature with the people in mind who wear the boots, not the suits. We're #stoked to shape the future, #together as a team, and #humble in our mission to support the builders of tomorrow. Your Mission at plancraft We're building plancraft towards an agentic-first product experience. That means AI-enabled capabilities our customers actually use: features that take real administrative work off a tradesperson's plate and hold up under production load, day after day. Building AI-enabled products that work reliably at scale requires strong engineering foundations. You'll help shape those foundations — from architecture and system design to engineering practices — while keeping the focus on what we're ultimately building for our customers. This is an individual contributor role with no disciplinary leadership but significant influence across Engineering. You'll work hands-on where it matters, shape technical direction across teams, and help other engineers build better systems. We have a clear vision for how we want to build software and the outcomes we want to achieve, while recognising that we're still on the journey to get there. Some foundations are already in place; others are still evolving. We're looking for someone who has built and scaled complex systems before and can bring that experience into what we build. Our customers are tradespeople. Every hour they spend on paperwork is an hour off the job site. We keep that in mind when making technical decisions: the systems we build should ultimately help us take more work off their plate. Your Responsibilities AI-enabled product capabilities. You'll help define what AI can meaningfully do for our customers and turn emerging capabilities into reliable, observable product experiences that work beyond the demo. The wider technical system. Together with our other Staff Engineers, you'll shape architectural direction and the properties that should hold across teams, while enabling individual teams to build and ship independently. Data foundations for AI-enabled workflows. You'll help turn product and business data into meaningful signals, insights, and context that AI can use reliably in customer-facing workflows — from defining the right data models and semantics, and drawing a clear line between operational data and knowledge, to making that understanding available where it creates real product value. How we build with AI. You'll influence both how we develop and evaluate customer-facing AI capabilities and how AI changes software engineering itself — from tooling and workflows to standards and practices across the organisation. How you'll work & influence We have clear engineering principles, but we expect our Staff Engineers to challenge and evolve them. We favour small, integrated changes, observable systems that recover quickly, explicit architectural boundaries, and engineering decisions that are encoded rather than repeatedly debated. Above all, engineers own customer problems — not tickets. You'll have meaningful autonomy from the start: Shape technical direction. You'll evolve shared architecture and engineering standards through RFCs and ADRs, not by waiting for top-down decisions. Own complex initiatives end to end. From discovery and technical design through implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Influence where Engineering invests. You'll help identify the technical capabilities, architectural improvements, and engineering practices worth investing in. Raise the bar across teams. You'll shape architecture, developer experience, AI-enabled engineering practices, and codebase quality beyond your immediate team. Multiply other engineers. You'll mentor through collaboration, architectural guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. How hands-on you are depends on the problem. Some weeks you'll be deep in the code; others you'll focus on system design, technical discovery, or mentoring across teams. We care about the technical outcomes you create, not your commit count. Your Profile AI- and agentic-build competencies. You have designed, built, shipped, or operated AI-enabled or agentic product systems beyond prompts alone: retrieval and knowledge design, evaluation of non-deterministic behaviour, observability of model- and tool-driven flows, and debugging across multi-step agent traces. You know what it takes to move these systems from promising demos into reliable product experiences, and you can help others build the judgement to use them safely. Experience building and operating real production systems. You've designed, shipped, and lived with complex systems at scale — whether distributed architectures, asynchronous or multi-step workflows, event-driven services, data pipelines, or ETL pipelines. You understand reliability and observability because you've needed them in practice. You bring 5+ years of software engineering experience and a track record of technical leadership. Strong typed-language fundamentals — and a polyglot mindset. You understand the concepts that make a strong type system valuable and use them to keep a growing codebase understandable and maintainable. Our stack is React on the frontend, serverless Node.js / Express on the backend, and GCP underneath — all TypeScript, so you're either productive in TypeScript or able to get there quickly. Where your deepest expertise sits matters less: if that's Rust, Go, Kotlin, or something else, we see it as a strength. Having worked across several languages and paradigms tends to reduce stack bias exactly when systems thinking matters most. Experience with another modern cloud environment is absolutely fine. Information systems thinking. You distinguish clearly between operational data and knowledge — the transactional state that runs the business versus the modelled, contextual understanding that AI-enabled workflows depend on — and you design deliberately for both. In an agentic product, that distinction is a practical necessity, not a theoretical one. Strong system design and domain modelling skills. You know how to create clear boundaries, model business concepts explicitly, and design systems that can evolve without every change becoming expensive. Techniques such as dependency injection, adapters, making invalid states unrepresentable, and parse-don't-validate are tools you've applied rather than concepts you've only read about. Strong product thinking. You start with the problem rather than the technology, use evidence to understand customer needs, and make deliberate trade-offs between technical excellence, speed, and product outcomes. Technical leadership beyond your own work. You've influenced technical direction across teams, mentored other engineers, and can align Engineering, Product, and business stakeholders without relying on formal authority. AI is already part of how you work. You use tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, or Codex seriously, understand where they help and where they don't, and can help others adopt them effectively. A T-shaped engineering profile. You bring broad engineering judgment across product and system challenges, with genuine depth in at least one area. C1 English. German is a plus, not a must. Deep production engineering experience and the ability to apply it to AI-enabled products matter more than expertise in a specific model or framework. Who this role is for This role is for someone who wants to operate as a senior individual contributor with broad technical influence — without people management. You won't be the only Staff Engineer: we currently have four Staff Engineers and are looking for great additions to the group. You'll work closely with Engineering Managers who steward people, team environment and flow while you steward the technical system and direction. You'll enjoy this role if you like moving across product, architecture, engineering practices and AI-enabled ways of working — and if you prefer shaping systems and standards across teams over specialising deeply in one narrow technology or domain.
