Senior Compliance Program Manager, Political Law

About Anthropic Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role Anthropic's Integrity & Compliance function is building the systems that let us scale responsibly as our products reach more people, more enterprises, and more governments. Corporate Compliance is a key pillar of that function, covering anti-bribery and anti-corruption, conflicts of interest, gifts and hospitality, outside activities, the Code of Conduct, and related employee-conduct matters. As Senior Compliance Program Manager, you will build and run Anthropic's political law compliance program — the operating infrastructure behind our corporate PAC, corporate political giving, state and local pay-to-play preclearance, and the gift and ethics rules governing our interactions with public officials. As the program develops, the role may also extend to oversight of lobbying registration and reporting. You'll own the program end to end: designing the workflows, registers and controls, doing the work directly where it belongs in-house, and directing and quality-checking outside political law counsel and compliance vendors where we use them. You'll be the day-to-day compliance partner to our Policy and Government Affairs teams, working in close partnership with Policy Legal, who own the substantive legal advice, and with the rest of Corporate Compliance on the anti-corruption side of government engagement. Because we run lean, you may support certain workstreams in our broader corporate compliance program — gifts and hospitality, conflicts of interest, outside business activities and related day-to-day matters — and help design the AI-assisted workflows that let a small team cover a large surface area. This is a builder's role. We're looking for someone who has run political law compliance programs hands-on, is equally comfortable doing the work and managing outside firms who do it, always knows where every preclearance request and filing stands, and can turn fifty-state complexity into simple processes the business will actually use. Key responsibilities Own the political contributions preclearance program: intake, covered-persons register, jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction pay-to-play screening against live and prospective public-sector business, recordkeeping, and periodic reconciliation Support corporate PAC compliance operations in partnership with Policy, Finance and outside counsel — restricted-class eligibility controls, solicitation review workflow, FEC reporting oversight, and reconciliations Maintain the corporate political giving log and vetting workflow for candidate, committee, 527 and c4 contributions, and integrate pay-to-play triggers into contract intake for public-sector deals Depending on how the program is scoped, support or take on lobbying compliance oversight: keeping a consolidated view of registrations, deadlines and filing status, and working with the outside firms that prepare filings Manage outside political law counsel and compliance vendors supporting these workstreams — scoping, inputs, quality, timeliness and budget — and recommend over time what should sit in-house versus outside Run gifts and hospitality review for events and interactions involving public officials, applying federal, state and local gift and ethics rules alongside our anti-corruption standards; disposition routine matters and escalate edge cases Review and disposition conflicts of interest, outside business activity and gifts and hospitality matters across the broader corporate compliance queue; help maintain the post-government-employment and recusal tracker Build and deliver training, quick-reference guidance and intake how-tos for Policy, GTM and leadership; keep policies and procedures current as the footprint changes Serve as product owner for AI-assisted intake, screening and case-management workflows in your areas — define requirements, run testing, decide what is automated versus human-reviewed, and report program metrics to leadership Spot legal questions early and route them to Policy Legal or outside counsel with the facts assembled; keep I&C, Legal and outside counsel calibrated on risk Minimum qualifications Hands-on ownership of political law compliance programs — corporate PAC, campaign finance, pay-to-play preclearance and covered-persons tracking, lobbying registration and reporting, government gift and ethics rules — or a closely comparable multi-jurisdiction regulatory program Track record building a program, not just operating one — designing preclearance or disclosure workflows, registers, filing calendars and controls from scratch or through a major redesign Fluent enough to do the work directly and experienced enough to manage outside counsel and compliance vendors doing it — scoping, feeding inputs, checking quality, holding deadlines Working fluency in the federal framework (FECA/FEC, LDA/HLOGA, House and Senate gift rules) and the shape of state and local variation; knows when a question is a legal call and hands it off cleanly Strong project management and cross-functional execution with Policy/Government Affairs, Legal, Finance and executive stakeholders; clear, brief, business-usable writing Sound judgment and discretion handling politically and personally sensitive information Preferred qualifications 7+ years of experience in compliance program management Experience in a corporate government affairs compliance function, a political law practice or compliance vendor, or a financial-services pay-to-play program (SEC Rule 206(4)-5, MSRB G-37, CFTC) Range across the broader corporate compliance portfolio — gifts and hospitality, conflicts of interest, outside activities, anti-corruption — and appetite to learn what you haven't done yet Exposure to non-US lobbying transparency regimes (EU Transparency Register, German Lobby register, Irish Regulation of Lobbying Act, UK) Hands-on with compliance tooling (case management, GRC, disclosure platforms, workflow automation) and real interest in using AI to run compliance work better Experience at a high-growth or technology company, or otherwise operating lean without large-team infrastructure Relevant certification (e.g., CCEP) or paralegal/JD background is a plus, not a requirement; this is a program role, not a counsel role The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.  For sales roles, the range provided is the role's On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: $255,000 — $270,000 USD Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study:  A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices. Visa sponsorship:  We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this. We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed.  Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team. Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit  anthropic.com/careers  directly for confirmed position openings. How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. About the role Design at Anthropic sits at the intersection of craft, research, and product intuition. We're a small team working on products that millions of people use daily—and on interactions that don't have established conventions yet. Our work shapes how people experience AI: whether Claude feels like a tool or a collaborator, whether it earns trust or erodes it. We partner closely with engineers and researchers, often designing around capabilities that are emerging in real-time. That means staying close to the models, prototyping rapidly, and being comfortable with ambiguity. We're looking for designers who ship fast and stay in motion—people who would rather get something in front of users this week than perfect it for a month. You're excited to question fundamental UI assumptions and invent patterns that feel native to AI, and you're already using tools like Claude Code to extend what you can build. You pay attention to where model capabilities are heading, not just what Claude can do today, and you find ways to keep caring about the pixels, the copy, and the edge cases while shipping quickly. Key responsibilities Collaborate with product managers, engineers, AI researchers and other stakeholders to define product vision, strategy and roadmaps, and play an active role in shipping. Understand the technical architecture of our products and define primitives for new capabilities. Define feature areas with exceptional attention to detail and polish, identifying opportunities to improve quality and consistency of broader flows Craft beautiful, polished, and delightful user interfaces that build trust and showcase the power of our AI technology Comfortable in code, design, prototypes, and learning new ways to communicate ideas and concepts Find creative ways to ship high-quality work in a fast-paced, often ambiguous, resource-constrained startup environment Minimum qualifications Experience designing and shipping complex workflows, enterprise/B2B SaaS, developer tools, or API products end-to-end Proven track record of executing end-to-end on large and complex products, or a series of products, in ambiguous environments A portfolio demonstrating user-centered design thinking and polished UI craftsmanship Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, such as Figma Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code as a creative partner in your own design practice Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence without authority Preferred qualifications Experience prototyping with front-end code (e.g., HTML/CSS/JS) Passion for crafting scaled, highly impactful, safe and beneficial artificial intelligence technologies to enable new possibilities The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.  For sales roles, the range provided is the role's On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. About the role As a Marketing Analytics Lead at Anthropic, you will own how we measure marketing. You'll build and run a single measurement framework that shows how marketing activity turns into pipeline, revenue, and product usage, and you'll make that framework something marketers and executives actually use to make decisions. As our marketing programs grow across enterprise and product-led motions, your work will determine whether we invest in what works. In this role, you'll own the marketing measurement framework end to end: the metric definitions, the data models behind them, the dashboards that surface them, and the insights they produce. This is a hands-on individual contributor role; data science and data engineering will support you, but you'll do the core work yourself. You'll partner closely with field marketing, partner marketing, campaign marketing, finance, sales strategy, sales development, data science, and data engineering to align on definitions and keep the whole organization working from one view of the funnel. Key responsibilities Own the marketing measurement framework that connects marketing activity to pipeline, revenue, and product usage Set the direction for the framework and extend it to programs it doesn't cover yet Define marketing metrics clearly and get cross-functional teams to agree on definitions early Build and maintain the data models that power marketing reporting Develop dashboards that marketers and executives rely on in their weekly reviews Teach marketers and executives how the metrics work, and keep teaching as the metrics evolve Lead adoption of the framework so that both marketing and executive teams use it as their shared source of truth Partner with finance, sales strategy, and sales development to connect marketing measurement to the broader revenue picture Find and share the insights nobody asked for, turning analysis into recommendations that change what we do Write analytical SQL on large datasets to answer questions about funnel performance and attribution Track framework gaps and data quality issues, and work with data engineering to resolve them Present findings to marketing leadership and executives in clear, decision-ready formats Minimum qualifications Have deep experience with marketing analytics, including lead funnels, attribution to enterprise pipeline, and product usage measurement Have designed metrics from scratch and know what makes a metric trusted and useful Can write analytical SQL on large datasets with confidence Have built data models in tools like dbt and dashboards that many people use daily Are comfortable setting direction without waiting for a plan to be handed to you Can turn vague questions into clear, measurable definitions Work well across functions and know how to get teams aligned on definitions before problems surface Enjoy teaching others how metrics work and helping non-technical audiences build data fluency Finish what you start, from first definition to adopted dashboard Are excited about Anthropic's mission to develop AI that is safe and beneficial Preferred qualifications Experience building marketing measurement for both enterprise sales-led and product-led growth motions Familiarity with marketing attribution models and their practical tradeoffs Experience presenting metrics and insights directly to executives and shaping how leadership reviews performance A background in data science, analytics engineering, or marketing operations Experience working with CRM and marketing automation data, such as Salesforce and related tooling Experience standing up a measurement practice where one didn't exist before Familiarity with how finance and sales strategy teams think about pipeline and forecasting The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.  For sales roles, the range provided is the role's On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: $255,000 — $320,000 USD Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study:  A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time.
