Head of Pricing - Zego Insurance
ZegoLondon, Germany25 days ago
Full TimeOn-siteDirector
pythongomachine learningportfolio managementinsuranceunderwriting+1

About Zego 🚀 At Zego, we're on a mission to do the good thing, not the insurance thing. Insurance hasn't changed much in over a century. The way we live, work and travel has. We're building the real-time, AI-driven infrastructure that powers innovative insurance, so good drivers get cover that works the way they actually drive. We're not just updating insurance; We're leading the AI evolution in insurance 🤖 For us, AI isn't a line on a roadmap or a buzzword on a slide. It's our operating reality, and it's how we build products that back drivers instead of the old insurance playbook. We don't do things slowly, and we don't do bureaucracy. We back high-performance builders who want ownership, early responsibility and the chance to do the most career-defining work of their lives. You'll get the space to try things, the tools to move fast, and the room to see your ideas reach millions of drivers. Do not take our word for it. Read what Zegons say about us on Glassdoor . If you're ready to build the future of insurance, we're hiring. Purpose of the role As Head of Pricing - Insurance at Zego, you will lead the insurer's technical view of the models that drive our pricing. That covers the actuarial risk models behind our net rates, the demand and market models, and any other predictive model used for pricing and underwriting decisions. The models are built by the MGA pricing teams using a mix of traditional techniques (GLM, GAM, GBM) as well as new AI driven approaches. Your role is to make sure that we, as the insurer, can form an actuarial view on all of them, validate what sits underneath, and stand behind the rates it carries. On the actuarial risk models you will go further still, joining those projects from the start and owning the independent validation end to end. You will do this as the senior technical voice in a small actuarial team, which brings real breadth alongside the depth. Alongside the models you will review pricing and underwriting proposals across both personal and commercial motor in close collaboration with our underwriting team, and you will bring the modelling view into portfolio management. You will work directly with the MGA pricing teams, with underwriting and with our co-insurance partners, with access to senior leadership and to decision making from the first week. What you will be working on Lead the insurer's technical view across the full model landscape: the actuarial risk models, the demand models, the market and optimisation models. For each one the questions are the same: is the approach sound, can the output be trusted, and are we using it the way we intend to. Bring an actuarial view to all modelling approaches including AI driven models. Methods move quickly, you need to keep up. Go deeper on the actuarial risk models that set our net rates: join each project, independently validate the modelling decisions, the rating factor choices and the assumptions applied, and evidence the basis for each. Review, validate and challenge pricing and underwriting proposals across personal and commercial lines, working closely with our underwriting team: tactical pricing changes, full model updates, optimisation algorithms, new underwriting rules and renewal capping. Contribute to portfolio management and portfolio insight: what the KPIs are telling us, what is driving the movements, and what the modelling view says about where performance is heading. Support the insurer's position with our co-insurance partners on the net rates, the quality of the models behind them and the validation we have carried out. Mentor and coach junior actuarial colleagues. Help build the processes, the governance and the tooling, including AI, that allow a small and senior team to work faster and more robustly. What you will need to be successful in the role A qualified actuary, or an equivalent track record inside an actuarial pricing team, with at least ten years of hands-on modelling experience. Deep experience of classic actuarial risk modelling: GLMs built in Emblem, Akur8 or equivalent, with Python used in practice rather than in principle. Real exposure to the newer modelling approaches alongside the classic ones, such as GBMs and other machine learning methods, and the confidence to form an actuarial view on a method you have not built yourself. Experience with UK motor pricing. Experience with other lines of business is an advantage. Experience with newly launched portfolios, or portfolios with limited history. Experience with telematics products and their pricing. The judgement to say whether a model can be trusted, backed by having seen models work and seen them fail. Comfort in a small team with high influence and direct access to decision making, and a genuine interest in developing a less experienced colleague. The Zego ways of working 🏡 Teams work better with time to collaborate and space to get things done. We call it Zego Hybrid: some of us are in our office (central London or Halifax) weekly, others monthly or quarterly. It's about finding the balance between face time and focus that produces great work and a healthy life around it. We also make a point of getting everyone in the same room. Teams come together every quarter, and once a year the whole company does, properly. It's a serious investment and consistently one of the best parts of the year. Here is what the last one looked like . Benefits 🎁 💰 Market-competitive salary, benchmarked against your function and reviewed every year. 🏆 Annual performance bonus, linked to company performance and your contribution. 📈 Share options, a real stake in the company and a share in the future you build 🩺 Private medical insurance. 🏖️ Pension, generous holiday, and £1,000 a year to spend on getting to the office or learning something new. 💻 Cutting-edge systems and tools, so you always have what you need to drive your impact. Ready to do the most impactful work of your career? We want to hear from you. Zego, leading the AI evolution in insurance. Senior Security & Compliance Engineer
Full TimeOn-siteSenior
pythongobashreactnode.jsaws+19

Build the security foundations behind cutting-edge construction technology At XYZ Reality, we've created the world's first engineering-grade Augmented Reality solution for construction. Our product, The Atom, is used on major projects worldwide to bring designs to life on-site and help teams build more accurately, efficiently and with fewer mistakes. As a Series B business scaling across the UK, US and Europe, our technology – and the security environment supporting it – is becoming increasingly sophisticated. Our stack spans Kubernetes on Azure, mobile and embedded AR, REST APIs, real-time collaboration and AI-powered data pipelines. We already hold SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, but as our product, customers and use of AI continue to evolve, we now need dedicated security expertise within the business. We're looking for an experienced Senior Security & Compliance Engineer to take ownership of security across XYZ Reality and help build a security capability that can scale with us. The Role This is a critical hire and an opportunity to become our first dedicated security specialist, with genuine ownership and influence across the business. While we already have established compliance activity and SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications, security responsibilities currently sit across different teams. We're now looking for someone who can bring that together, identify where we need to strengthen our approach and provide dedicated technical security leadership as we scale. This is first and foremost a technical security role. You'll sit within Engineering and work directly alongside the teams building our technology, participating in architecture discussions, development workflows and technical decision-making rather than operating as a separate security function reviewing work after the fact. You'll take ownership of security architecture across our technology stack, embed shift-left security practices into how we build, strengthen our cloud and application security, and ensure we remain ahead of both established and emerging threats. As our use of AI continues to develop, you'll also help us understand and respond to new AI-related security risks and attack vectors, ensuring our security approach evolves alongside our technology. Compliance remains an important part of the role. You'll help strengthen our SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 posture and support areas including GDPR, data residency and enterprise customer requirements. However, we're looking for someone who brings strong hands-on security expertise first, alongside the governance and compliance knowledge needed to operate effectively across both areas. You won't simply inherit a security playbook, you'll have the opportunity to help build one. The role is based in London on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, enabling you to work closely with our Engineering, Product and wider business teams. What You'll Be Doing Take ownership of security architecture and technical security across XYZ Reality's technology environment. Assess our current security posture, identify vulnerabilities and control gaps, and develop pragmatic remediation plans. Architect and strengthen security across our Azure cloud environment, including Kubernetes clusters, databases and data pipelines. Own and improve areas including IAM, zero-trust networking, secrets management, RBAC, pod security and encryption. Embed shift-left security into engineering workflows, integrating SAST, DAST, dependency scanning and SCA into our CI/CD pipelines. Partner directly with Engineering and Product teams on architectural decisions, technical trade-offs and secure-by-design development. Run threat-modelling exercises and support developers with secure coding practices across Node.js, React Native and C++ environments. Own vulnerability management, including triage, risk prioritisation, remediation tracking and incident response where required. Develop and improve the logging, monitoring and alerting capabilities needed to identify and respond to security threats. Assess emerging threats, including those associated with AI-enabled products, tooling and new attack methodologies, and ensure our security approach continues to evolve. Strengthen our SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 controls, identifying gaps and improving implementation where needed. Support compliance cycles including controls testing, evidence gathering and auditor coordination. Support GDPR and data residency requirements across our infrastructure and data pipelines. Engage with enterprise customers and prospects on XYZ Reality's security posture when required. Automate security controls and processes wherever possible rather than relying on manual intervention. Help establish the standards, tooling and operating model for a security capability that can scale with the business. What We're Looking For Demonstrable in-depth hands-on technical security experience, ideally spanning application, cloud and/or infrastructure security. Strong technical security capability and the confidence to own security decisions end-to-end rather than operating purely in an advisory or governance capacity. Strong cloud security experience, ideally Azure, although significant AWS or GCP expertise with the ability to transition quickly to Azure would also be considered. Hands-on experience securing Kubernetes/containerised environments, including IAM, RBAC, network segmentation, secrets management, image scanning and pod security. Experience integrating security tooling into CI/CD environments, including SAST, DAST, SCA and dependency scanning. Experience with infrastructure-as-code security and technologies such as Terraform, Helm or GitOps. Understanding of application and API security, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS and secure development practices. Experience identifying vulnerabilities, assessing technical risk and driving remediation. Comfortable writing automation using Python, Go, Bash or similar to operationalise security controls. Practical experience working with SOC 2 Type II and/or ISO 27001, including identifying gaps and strengthening controls. Current knowledge of the evolving cybersecurity landscape and an interest in emerging threats, particularly those associated with AI. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate security requirements for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A pragmatic, collaborative approach, you understand that great security enables engineering teams rather than creating unnecessary barriers. Experience building or scaling security capability within a high-growth or Series A/B technology business would be particularly valuable. You'll understand the balance between addressing today's risks and building security foundations capable of supporting where the business is heading next. Above all, we're looking for someone who is technically strong, curious and proactive, someone engineers want to work with, who can bring credibility to security conversations while remaining pragmatic about how we build and ship great technology. What You Could Be Working On From the outset, you'll have the opportunity to make an impact across areas including: Azure and Kubernetes security architecture Application and API security Secure software development and shift-left security Vulnerability management and incident response AI-related security and emerging threat management SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 maturity Security automation and CI/CD integration Enterprise customer security requirements Building XYZ Reality's longer-term security capability and roadmap Why Join Us 🔐 Become our first dedicated security hire and have genuine ownership over how security develops at XYZ Reality 🏠 Hybrid working from our London office 🏝️ 25 days annual leave + public holidays 🩺 Private healthcare with Vitality 🎄 Additional Christmas shutdown days 🪙 Biannual salary reviews 🥳 Summer & Christmas company events 🍣 Free Thursday lunch and after-work gatherings 💰 Employee referral scheme 🚲 Cycle to Work scheme If you're an experienced security engineer who wants more than maintaining an established security programme, and you're excited by the opportunity to build, influence and own security within a growing technology business, we'd love to hear from you. About HappyRobot HappyRobot is the infrastructure for enterprises to build and orchestrate AI workforces. Our AI workers don't just communicate through voice and email - they make decisions, take action, and run operations autonomously across entire enterprise systems. Born in Y Combinator (S23) and backed by a16z, Base10, Prysm Capital and Eurazeo with over $200M raised, we power critical operations for global enterprises worldwide. Our platform is battle-tested in the most demanding environments, where AI has real consequences. We started in logistics, built our own voice stack, models, and orchestration layer from the ground up, and are now bringing that infrastructure to every enterprise that runs the real economy. Learn more about our vision in our manifesto. About the Role As a Customer Support Engineer , you'll be on the front lines of our customer experience. You'll work directly with customers to quickly triage issues, debug problems, and ensure they're getting the most out of HappyRobot's AI platform. This role is a hybrid between technical support and customer engineering: you'll diagnose issues, design and test quick solutions, and collaborate closely with both engineering and product teams to make our platform even stronger. You'll also apply prompt engineering skills to help customers fine-tune their AI workers, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and speed across real-world logistics workflows. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical fundamentals who wants to grow into a more senior customer engineering or product-facing position over time. Tech Profile Comfortable Full-Stack: Python, React, TypeScript, Node.js. Experience managing APIs and integrations with third-party systems. Some exposure to infrastructure and cloud deployments. Familiarity with LLM prompting and tuning of voices/transcribers; eager to experiment and iterate. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills — quick at identifying the root cause of issues. Must Have Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English — able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Strong ability to triage, prioritize, and resolve issues independently under tight deadlines. Curiosity and adaptability: you can learn customer workflows quickly and propose solutions. Self-starter mindset — comfortable working independently, with a bias toward action. Passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences. Why join us? Join a world-class team of engineers and builders. Backed by top investors including a16z, Y Combinator, Base10, Prysm Capital and Eurazeo. Have ownership and autonomy of projects and are encouraged to ship. Comprehensive Benefits including healthcare, dental, vision coverage. Competitive salary + equity in a high-growth startup. Our Operating Principles Extreme Ownership We take full responsibility for our work, outcomes, and team success. No excuses, no blame-shifting — if something needs fixing, we own it and make it better. This means stepping up, even when it's not "your job." If a ball is dropped, we pick it up. If a customer is unhappy, we fix it. If a process is broken, we redesign it. We don't wait for someone else to solve it — we lead with accountability and expect the same from those around us. Craftsmanship Putting care and intention into every task, striving for excellence, and taking deep ownership of the quality and outcome of your work. Craftsmanship means never settling for "just fine." We sweat the details because details compound. Whether it's a product feature, an internal doc, or a sales call — we treat it as a reflection of our standards. We aim to deliver jaw-dropping customer experiences by being curious, meticulous, and proud of what we build — even when nobody's watching. We are "majos" Be friendly & have fun with your coworkers. Always be genuine & honest, but kind. "Majo" is our way of saying: be a good human. Be approachable, helpful, and warm. We're building something ambitious, and it's easier (and more fun) when we enjoy the ride together. We give feedback with kindness, challenge each other with respect, and celebrate wins together without ego. Urgency with Focus Create the highest impact in the shortest amount of time. Move fast, but in the right direction. We operate with speed because time is our most limited resource. But speed without focus is chaos. We prioritize ruthlessly, act decisively, and stay aligned. We aim for high leverage: the biggest results from the simplest, smartest actions. We're running a high-speed marathon — not a sprint with no strategy. Talent Density and Meritocracy Hire only people who can raise the average; 'exceptional performance is the passing grade.' Ability trumps seniority. We believe the best teams are built on talent density — every hire should raise the bar. We reward contribution, not titles or tenure. We give ownership to those who earn it, and we all hold each other to a high standard. A-players want to work with other A-players — that's how we win. First-Principles Thinking Strip a problem to physics-level facts, ignore industry dogma, rebuild the solution from scratch. We don't copy-paste solutions. We go back to basics, ask why things are the way they are, and rebuild from the ground up if needed. This mindset pushes us to innovate, challenge stale assumptions, and move faster than incumbents. It's how we build what others think is impossible. The personal data provided in your application and during the selection process will be processed by Happyrobot, Inc., acting as Data Controller.
