At Affirm, we exist for the moments that matter—giving people a clear, predictable way to pay over time, with no hidden fees, no surprises, and no tradeoffs on what matters most. About the Engineering team  The Engineering team builds systems that power Affirm's mission. We take pride in our craft, building reliable, performant, and scalable solutions that touch every part of the business. Whether we're enabling new ways to pay, ensuring our platforms can scale to the most demanding levels in the industry, or developing seamless servicing experiences, our focus is on solving complex problems through exceptional engineering. About the role The Trust and Safety Foundations team within Checkout Engineering builds and operates foundational systems and data capabilities that support how Affirm understands consumer risk and meets its credit reporting obligations. Our work sits at the intersection of data quality, system reliability, regulatory requirements, and risk, creating critical infrastructure that Affirm and its partners depend on to operate accurately and at scale. As a Staff Software Engineer on Trust and Safety Foundations, you will help shape the team's technical strategy and lead complex, business-critical initiatives across systems and stakeholders. You'll turn ambiguous problems into clear technical approaches, guide projects from strategy through execution, and strengthen the reliability and sustainability of the systems we own. You'll also act as a force multiplier by raising the bar for system design and engineering quality, sharing your expertise, and helping other engineers grow. This role requires strong technical judgment, deep ownership, and the ability to navigate complexity in a high-impact domain. . You will foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting code review and design standards for your team, and advocating for them beyond your team through your writing and tech talks. You will help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example. What we look for You have 8+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin. You have an extensive track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes. You have experience delivering major features, system components or deprecating existing functionality in a system through the definition of a technical and execution plan. You write high quality code that is easily understood and used by others. You thrive in ambiguity, and are comfortable moving from low level language idioms all the way to the architecture of large systems to understand how they work. Your growth and impact trajectory demonstrates that you have mastered gathering and iterating on feedback from your engineering and cross-functional peers. You have strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team. This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Grafana Labs is the company behind Grafana Cloud, the fully managed observability platform trusted by more than 10,000 organizations to ensure reliability, resolve incidents faster, and optimize telemetry at scale. Built on open source and open standards and designed for interoperability across any stack, Grafana Cloud brings AI to observability and observability to AI, giving teams (and their agents) unified visibility so they can see, understand, and act on all their disparate data, wherever it lives, and move at the speed of their ambitions. Customers, including Anthropic, Bloomberg, NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Salesforce, rely on Grafana Labs. We are a 100% remote company with team members across 40+ countries, backed by leading investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, GIC, Coatue, J.P. Morgan, CapitalG, and Lead Edge Capital. Learn more at grafana.com and follow us on LinkedIn and X . We're scaling fast and staying true to what makes us different: an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and a passion for meaningful work. Our team thrives in an innovation-driven environment where transparency, autonomy, and trust fuel everything we do. You may not meet every requirement, and that's okay. If this role excites you, we'd love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity. This is a remote opportunity and we would be interested in applicants based in Spain, Ireland, Germany, the UK or Sweden at this time. The Opportunity: Grafana Observability builds end-to-end observability that spans application, infrastructure, database, browser, and mobile. Our Mobile Observability initiative gives mobile developers first-class instrumentation SDKs that capture traces, metrics, logs, crashes, and user sessions. Our solutions aim to be tightly integrated with OpenTelemetry and Grafana Cloud. We're building high-performance, low-overhead SDKs that make it easy for teams to connect mobile signals to backend and infra telemetry for true full-stack visibility. We value open standards, great developer experience, and doing the hard engineering needed to ship reliable software at scale. You may not meet every requirement below. If this role excites you, please raise your hand. What You'll Be Doing: Build and evolve mobile instrumentation SDKs for iOS (Swift / Obj-C), prioritizing performance, stability, and a great developer experience. Design and ship SDK features such as session tracking, crash reporting, sampling strategies, automatic context propagation, and OpenTelemetry integrations. Own projects end-to-end. Break large, ambiguous problems into incremental deliverables: design modular solutions, ship MVPs, gather feedback, iterate quickly. Ensure quality: automated tests, CI, documentation, and smooth, backwards-compatible upgrade paths. Collaborate cross-functionally with backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering to ensure cohesive end-to-end observability workflows. Engage with the open-source community: review PRs, discuss design proposals, and help guide external contributors. Mentor teammates, participate in technical design discussions and help shape the mobile observability roadmap. What Makes You a Great Fit: You're a motivated self-starter with a bias toward action and the ability to run with poorly defined scopes. You can operate autonomously while being highly collaborative. Strong mobile engineering experience: with iOS (Swift/Obj-C) and, optionally, Android (Kotlin/Java). Demonstrated experience building or maintaining mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or other developer-facing platform code used by external developers. Experience working with performance-sensitive code (startup time, memory, network efficiency) and making pragmatic tradeoffs. Familiarity with OpenTelemetry (instrumentation, SDKs, collectors) or experience contributing to/maintaining OTel SDKs or similar telemetry libraries. Excellent written and verbal communication. Comfortable working in a fully remote, globally distributed team. Coachable, customer-focused, and passionate about developer experience, you can do more than code: you write docs, mentor others, and shape roadmaps. Pragmatic and comfortable navigating ambiguity: you prioritize progress over perfection and iterate quickly based on feedback. Bonus Points For: Contributions to OpenTelemetry, crash reporting libraries, or other observability OSS. Experience with cross-platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter) or building native bindings/bridges. Experience with mobile security, privacy, or platform integration challenges. Prior work on crash aggregation, session replay, or sampling for mobile telemetry. Compensation & Rewards: In UK, the compensation range for this role is £91,000 - £114,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process. All of our roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), giving every team member ownership in Grafana Labs' success. We believe in shared outcomes—RSUs help us stay aligned and invested as we scale globally. #LI-Remote Compensation ranges are country specific. If you are applying for this role from a different location than listed above, your recruiter will discuss your specific market's defined pay range & benefits at the beginning of the process. Why You'll Thrive at Grafana Labs: 100% Remote, Global Culture - As a remote-only company, we bring together talent from around the world, united by a culture of collaboration and shared purpose. As we continue to expand our business, we are seeking a curious and passionate individual to join our team as of January 2027, as Fullstack Engineer (f/m/d) and drive our business forward. What Will Your Role Be As a Fullstack Engineer (f/m/d) in our Merchant Experience team, you'll help build and evolve the digital products our partners and merchants interact with every day. You'll work across the entire merchant journey — from the Partner Area, where designers manage their designs and shops, to the sign-up and publishing experience that turns an idea into a live SpreadShop, and the Merchant Area, where SpreadConnect merchants manage integrations with Shopify, TikTok, and other platforms. As a Fullstack Engineer (f/m/d), you'll take ownership beyond individual UI components or API endpoints. You'll design and implement features end-to-end, collaborate closely with product and design, and ensure that the experiences you build are reliable, performant, and easy to evolve. Your work directly impacts how merchants use and grow with our platform. You'll build products that make their day-to-day work easier and help drive our business forward. What You´ll Do Build and evolve merchant-facing product surfaces — sign-up and shop creation flows, shop management, design and product administration, sales statistics Build the new publishing journey for shops — from sign-up to a live SpreadShop — and take drop-off out of every step Own small to medium features end to end: design the UI, build theKotlin/Spring endpoints behind it, model the data, and ship both together Extend our backend services where your features need it — new REST endpointsin the shop and partner services, data model changes with a proper migration, and integrations with external platforms such as Shopify or TikTok on the SpreadConnect side Design and consume our REST and GraphQL APIs, and push back when a responseshape makes the frontend's life harder than it needs to be Contribute to our cross-team frontend architecture work — shared components, hooks and API clients, and how we render, test and ship our apps Keep merchant tooling fast — data-heavy tables, sales statistics and editorsare where perceived performance is won or lost Take on larger topics — an epic, a new integration, a new merchant surface —and break them down into something the team can execute: slices, dependencies, open questions, and a first piece worth shipping Work in an agile cross-functional team with a product owner, designers and backend engineers, and connect what you build to merchant activation and conversion What You´ll Bring Solid proficiency in TypeScript and React — component design, hooks, statemanagement, and the performance patterns that keep a growing app fast Around three or more years of professional experience building web products, with a track record of features you carried from first ticket to production Real CSS craft and experience working inside a design system or shared component library, not just against one Experience consuming REST or GraphQL APIs and working with structured, data-heavy responses — product catalogs, variants and attributes bring more complexity than they first appear to Working experience in a JVM backend — Kotlin or Java with Spring — and the ability to build a REST endpoint, model the data behind it and write the migration, not just read the code A solid grasp of relational databases and SQL, and of what happens to a query when the table stops being small Self-direction: you take an under-specified problem, find out what is actually needed, break it into deliverable pieces and drive them to donewithout waiting to be handed tickets Testing as a habit rather than an afterthought, and a working relationship with code review A keen eye for UI detail — you care about how something feels, not only whether it works A product mindset: you ask who benefits from a change before you ask how to build it Good communication skills in English Why Should You Join Us Autonomy and Impact: We believe in giving people real ownership. You'll have the freedom to make decisions, take action, and see the direct impact of your work on the business. Development and Growth: We believe that the greatest professional and personal growth happens when you're challenged. If you're looking to build your career, you'll find plenty of opportunities to do so. We Win as a Team: Work alongside ambitious, motivated colleagues who challenge and support each other to achieve exceptional results. Through honest feedback, high standards, and shared ambition, we bring out the best in one another. Learn from Proven Entrepreneurs: Work closely with experienced founders and business leaders, gaining first-hand insights into growing a successful international company. Transparency and Involvement: Stay connected to our vision through regular General Assemblies, learn about our processes in our production sites in the Czech Republic and join workshops and cross function initiatives to lead positive change. The Extras That Matter: Enjoy 30 days of paid vacation, attractive employee discounts on our products and partner brands, modern office spaces designed for collaboration, and regular company events where we celebrate our successes together. Software Engineer Backend (f/m/d) (Fixed-Term Parental Leave Cover)
Full TimeOn-siteMid
typescriptjavakotlinnext.jsexpressnode.js+9

Who We Are Spread Group is a renowned global provider of customized apparel and lifestyle products, distinguished by our commitment to made-to-order technology. Our core business model revolves around producing precisely what our customers desire, precisely when they desire it. As pioneers in this space, we combine sustainability with on-demand personalization, enabling individuals and businesses to express their unique identities through bespoke creations. Join us to be part of a global leader in the exciting world of personalized apparel and lifestyle products! As we continue to expand our business, we are seeking a curious and passionate individual to join our team as the Software Engineer Backend (f/m/d) and drive our business forward. The position is initially a fixed-term position to cover parental leave. What Will Your Role Be You'll join Design Experience — the team behind the tools people use to turn an idea into something they can actually wear. We own the creation experience across our brands: the Create-omat design editor, AI-assisted design generation, template and text handling, embroidery, and the design services behind them. Our mission is to let anyone move from idea to product with the market's leading creation tools, and every order on our platform starts with a design that was made on one of our surfaces. We are a small, senior team in Leipzig and Berlin with a product owner, a tech lead and a handful of engineers, which means the person who designs a service is usually the person who ships and runs it. Our stack spans two worlds: Create-omat is a Next.js application in TypeScript that currently also carries its own backend-for-frontend, while the surrounding services run on the JVM with Spring against MySQL, MongoDB and S3. The AI side runs on OpenAI and fal.ai models with Langfuse for tracing and cost control, and everything ships through GitLab CI onto Kubernetes. This is a fixed-term position covering a parental leave. It is not a placeholder role: the backend work waiting for you is the part of our roadmap that decides what the next two years of our architecture look like. What You´ll Do Pull business logic out of the Create-omat BFF and into services other frontends can actually use — today the design editor owns logic, data and storage all at once, and that is the single biggest constraint on the team Build our design generation backend: moderation, image generation, design enhancement and background removal as a pipeline that Create-omat, the Partner Area and our upcoming co-creation agent all call, instead of each building their own Replace splitbrain, the Spring service that serves the Partner Area with a near-duplicate of that same functionality — two systems, one capability, and your job is to make it one Design and build the system-layer APIs behind our data — Scene, Template and Design — so that MongoDB and S3 stop being something every consumer reaches into directly, and take part in the cross-team API discussions where those contracts get agreed Modernize designer-service-api, a Java service with real consumers in two other teams: raise test coverage, retire vulnerable dependencies, and coordinate every contract change with the teams that depend on it Own services in production — observability, alerting, on-call-quality logging, and the performance questions that come with rendering and image pipelines Work with a product owner, designers and frontend engineers in an agile team, and connect what you build to whether people finish a design and put it in their basket What You´ll Bring Several years of professional backend experience with services you carried from design to production and then operated Solid JVM skills — Java or Kotlin with Spring — including data modelling, migrations and the parts of a service that only hurt once traffic is real Working proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, enough to be productive inside a Next.js backend-for-frontend from the first weeks — a large share of the logic you will move lives there REST API design as a craft: you think about the consumer of a response, you version deliberately, and you know what a breaking change costs other teams Confidence with both relational and document databases — MySQL and MongoDB in our case — plus object storage, and a clear sense of what belongs where A grasp of what it takes to run a service: containers, CI pipelines, metrics, structured logs and traces Self-direction. The role starts in the middle of an ongoing initiative rather than at the beginning of one, so you need to be able to read an existing system, ask the right people the right questions, and turn an under-specified topic into something you can ship in slices Testing as a habit and a working relationship with code review Good communication skills in English Why Should You Join Us Autonomy and Impact: We believe in giving people real ownership. Equal Opportunity Employer We value diversity at Spread Group. We are proud of and continue to encourage the increasing diversity of our company culture and community. Your skills, talents, and experience are our focus no matter your age, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital or disability status. This is a role with significant technical ownership. You design and evolve integrations across our monetization landscape, including Odoo, internal master-data systems, Salesforce, and SAP. You act as a senior technical sparring partner within the team, contributing to architectural discussions, challenging solutions, and helping others make sound engineering decisions. You have a strong track record of shaping architecture and driving technical decisions in complex production environments. You have deep experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) and are comfortable owning systems throughout their full lifecycle. You have strong knowledge of relational databases and distributed, event-driven systems, including event messaging, streaming, and asynchronous communication. You can navigate complex technical and business dependencies, identify pragmatic solutions, and communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders. You raise the engineering bar around you through technical guidance, constructive challenge, knowledge sharing, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving. Nice-to-haves Experience with ERP systems or accounting- and finance-related domains. Experience building AWS Lambda functions for data-processing use cases using Python or TypeScript.
