About SchemeServe SchemeServe is insurance software like no other. Hosted in the cloud for MGAs, brokers and insurers, the SchemeServe platform boasts unique flexibility, unstoppable innovation and truly Obsessive Support. Started in 2000 by our CEO, Adam, SchemeServe has grown from strength to strength, never having taken outside investment. We're proud of how far we've come and how loyal we've stayed to our Core Values. We're fully remote (we were doing it before it was fashionable!), although we get together twice a year for Team Retreats. We prize self-development and encourage everyone to keep learning and challenging themselves. Free books? Mentoring? Professional development? You got it. We also offer flexible working, paid charity days, a fantastic, relaxed and open company culture and free biscuits through the post. We genuinely believe this is the best place you could ever work. If you're excited, good! So are we. Come and join the Insurtech revolution! Principal Backend Engineer UK Remote We're looking for an exceptional Principal Backend Engineer to help make backend engineering across SchemeServe better. You'll be one of the most technically experienced engineers in the organisation and the CTO's primary technical partner for backend engineering, helping shape our architecture, engineering principles and technical direction. But this isn't primarily a feature delivery role and your job isn't to personally build everything you help design. Your real job is to make our engineering organisation better at building great software. You'll work alongside engineers and teams, helping solve difficult problems, challenging their thinking and developing their technical skills and judgement. What We Mean By Principal This is a deeply technical role. You'll need the depth to understand complex backend systems, architecture, security, performance, resilience and maintainability; review designs and implementations; spot risks; and challenge experienced engineers. But technical knowledge alone isn't enough. We want someone who understands there isn't always one "correct" way to build software. Patterns, standards and best practices are useful tools. They aren't commandments. We care about finding the most appropriate solution to the problem in front of us. That means understanding the problem, business, existing platform, risks and likely future – and making pragmatic decisions based on the trade-offs. Sometimes the right answer will be a new service or technology. Sometimes it'll be improving what we already have. Sometimes the boring solution really is the best solution. We're quite comfortable with that. How You'll Lead Success in this role comes through influence rather than authority . We don't want every difficult technical decision to end with: "We'd better ask the Principal Engineer." If an engineer proposes an approach you disagree with, we don't just want you to replace it with your own. Understand their thinking. Ask questions. Challenge assumptions. Explore the trade-offs. Share your experience. And be prepared to change your own mind too. The goal is to leave that engineer better equipped to solve the next problem, not just holding the answer to this one. Your technical impact should multiply through the people around you. You'll remain close enough to the code to understand what's actually happening and occasionally roll up your sleeves to prototype, investigate a difficult problem or unblock a team. But if after a year you've personally written loads of brilliant software while everyone around you is working exactly as they were before, we haven't succeeded . The Technical Challenge Our platform has been evolving for more than 25 years. At its heart is a mature C# .NET Framework 4.7 monolith, alongside an expanding ecosystem of modern C# .NET 10 and TypeScript services. Our backend estate includes: .NET Framework and modern C#/.NET. TypeScript services. Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and Redis. Azure cloud infrastructure. Cloudflare platform services. API-first architecture. Git-based development workflows. We're continuing to modernise, but we're not interested in modernisation for modernisation's sake. We aren't trying to win an award for having the most fashionable architecture diagram. We want a secure, reliable and maintainable platform that can support SchemeServe for many years to come – and we want you to help us decide what should evolve and, just as importantly, what doesn't need changing. What You'll Do You'll work closely with our CTO and engineering teams to: Shape our backend engineering strategy, architecture and technical direction. Help engineers make better technical and architectural decisions. Develop sensible engineering principles and guardrails without replacing good judgement with rules. Guide the continued evolution of our monolith and modern service-based platform. Coach and mentor engineers, developing their technical skills and judgement. Review significant designs and architectural decisions and challenge unnecessary complexity. Champion security, quality, testing, observability, resilience and performance. Identify technical risks and help teams navigate them. Evaluate technologies and patterns based on their value to SchemeServe rather than their popularity elsewhere. Balance long-term engineering quality with short-term business needs. Occasionally contribute directly to implementation when that's genuinely the best way to help. Be a generally awesome person. What We're Looking For You'll need: Deep expertise in modern backend engineering and strong commercial C#/.NET experience. Strong knowledge of software architecture, distributed systems and API design. Experience with mature legacy applications and modern service-oriented architectures. Strong cloud architecture experience, ideally Azure. Excellent understanding of databases, security, testing, maintainability and modern software delivery. Experience shaping engineering principles and practices across teams. A track record of making engineers around you better through mentoring, coaching and technical leadership. The ability to challenge experienced engineers constructively without becoming a gatekeeper. Strong opinions, loosely held – the confidence to challenge and the humility to change your mind. Excellent communication and the ability to influence without relying on authority. Excellent technical judgement, balancing quality, complexity, risk, cost and business value. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who asks: "What's the right solution for us?" rather than: "What's the way everyone else is doing it?" Nice To Have Experience modernising large monolithic applications. Commercial TypeScript backend experience. Cloudflare or edge technology experience. SaaS platforms at scale. Financial services, insurance or another regulated industry. Observability, platform engineering or SRE experience. AI-assisted development and engineering productivity tooling. You don't need to tick every box. If you've got the technical depth, judgement and ability to make engineers around you better, we'd rather have a conversation than lose a great candidate because you haven't used one particular technology. What Success Looks Like Within your first year: Engineers are making stronger technical and architectural decisions with greater confidence. Our engineering principles are understood rather than blindly followed. Technical discussions are constructive, pragmatic and result in clear decisions. Security, reliability, maintainability and performance concerns are identified earlier. We've made sensible progress modernising our platform without adding complexity for complexity's sake. You've made a lasting positive impact on both our software and the people who build it . Ultimately, we don't want SchemeServe to become dependent on you for every difficult technical decision. We want SchemeServe to become better at making those decisions because you're here. Why Join SchemeServe? Fully remote UK-based role. Twice-yearly company retreats. Flexible working. Dedicated professional development support. Paid charity days. Friendly, supportiv... Find Jobs in United Kingdom on Arbeitnow

About Pleo Messy spend management is tricky business. And tedious processes are a lose-lose situation for all involved, not just finance. At Pleo, we're changing that. We build spend solutions that make managing money seamless, empowering, and surprisingly effective for finance teams and employees alike - with a vision to help all businesses 'go beyond'. The word 'Pleo' actually means 'more than you'd expect', and living by that mantra has been the secret to our success over the last 10 years. Now, we're at a pivotal moment in our journey; every move we make has a direct impact on our 40,000+ customers, our business, and our collective success. We need people who take pride in uncovering customer needs, who turn complex problems into simple solutions, challenge the way things are done (respectfully), and always aim high. With great ambitions driving us forward, we can't say we've got this whole thing figured out. And frankly, that's half the fun! What we can say is that we're a driven, progressive, and, importantly, a kind bunch of 850+ people from over 100 nationalities, all committed to delivering the future of business spending, together. Please note: applications will be open until Tuesday 13th October 2026 at 08.00 CEST. We will not review any application before the closing date so please use this time to submit a high quality application. About the role We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Data Serving team that owns the production-grade boundary between Pleo's raw product data and everyone who consumes it, including internal product teams, AI agents, and customers directly accessing their own data. This Senior Backend Engineer role builds and owns that boundary: APIs and the low-latency serving layer underneath it. You will build customer-facing infrastructure where contract stability and latency are non-negotiable, and where the clean abstraction you maintain is what lets every downstream consumer trust the data without ever touching a raw source. Who you'll be working with and reporting to You will report to our Senior Manager of Data & AI Products, and work closely with our Staff Data Platform Engineer, Data Engineers, Product Managers and others Engineers across the business. You'll also coordinate closely with the GenAI Platform and Data Infrastructure teams. What you'll be doing As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will: Build and own the Data API boundary: delivering clean, versioned, and performant endpoints for internal dashboards, customer-facing features, and third-party tools (e.g., Fivetran connectors via incremental syncs and cursor pagination). Design and optimise the read models, indexes, and caching strategies in Postgres (and future OLAP stores) to guarantee low-latency query performance. Build reliable integrations with Pleo's Kotlin-based product backend services to ensure the serving layer surfaces the correct data required for a customer facing feature. Own the reliability and performance of the services you build: monitoring, incident response, and SLOs appropriate to customer-facing infrastructure. Partner with Data Engineers to define clean contracts between the ingestion/aggregation layer and the serving DB, ensuring read patterns match storage schemas. Partner with the Authorization team to secure APIs using industry-standard authentication and authorization protocols. Build a near-real-time data aggregation service to collect and unify data across Pleo services. Design metadata, lineage, and governance capabilities that make the serving layer explainable, auditable, and trustworthy. Own access control and permission management services, including row and column-level data access with full audit trails. To put things into context, you can expect to work with the following tech stack: AWS (product side), GCP (data side), Docker, Kubernetes, BigQuery, PostgreSQL dbt, Kafka, Airflow, Python, Kotlin and more! What you bring You'll thrive in this role if you have: Strong backend engineering experience building and owning reporting and analytics API services and serving-layer infrastructure. A mindset focusing on reliability, latency, and SLOs. Experience owning API boundary layers including clean endpoint design, versioning, contract stability, and ensuring downstream consumers are never exposed to raw data sources. Strong expertise designing performant read-heavy systems, including relational database optimisation, indexing strategies, materialised views, caching, and API performance tuning. Solid database fundamentals (SQL and non-SQL) and strong SQL querying skills, as well as deep expertise in Kafka. Deep experience with a JVM-based language (Pleo's product backend is Kotlin-based). AWS or GCP with Kubernetes experience. You must be familiar with configuring, deploying and operating containerised applications in a k8s environment. Experience working at the boundary between data systems and product backend services, with a real understanding of the operational differences between the two. The ability to move quickly and independently. This is a hands-on delivery role with clear scope, not an architecture or advisory engagement. Experience in fintech, payments, or other regulated product environments. Why is this role a good fit for you This role is a good fit for you if: You are passionate about building systems that serve other engineers. You understand what it means to design, build and maintain services with high performance, availability and reliability requirements. You have a very deep understanding of the data world and know how to bridge the gap between data and engineering. This role is not a good fit for you if: You need to operate within very large and structured teams with clear hierarchy. This role sits within a small and specialist team with a lot of autonomy. You do not wish to be responsible for services with high availability requirements. You will be held accountable for the quality and availability of those services alongside your team. You prefer to be handed over clearly defined scope of work. You will be expected to define and design the solutions as much as building them. How you'll develop in this role In your first 6 months at Pleo, you will: Get deep into the current state: the upstream Kotlin services the serving layer will pull from, the internal consumers already waiting on the API (Data & AI Products, GenAI Platform), and any prototype serving logic that needs to be replaced or formalised. Ship the first production version of the Reporting API (a defined set of endpoints with agreed contracts, versioning, and SLOs) with at least one internal consumer live against it. Establish the access control, tenant isolation, and row/column-level security model for the API. You will have proven out low-latency query performance on Postgres, with clear metrics around reliability and SLOs, and established a clear architectural benchmark to understand when (or if) an OLAP layer would ever be necessary. Please note: We can hire on a remote, hybrid or in-person set-up in any of the locations listed on the advert but you will need to be physically based in the country of your choice with a valid right to work . We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role in any of the listed locations. Show me the benefits Your own Pleo card (no more out-of-pocket spending!) Lunch is on us for your work days - enjoy catered meals or receive a lunch allowance based on your local office Comprehensive private healthcare - depending on your location, coverage options include Vitality, Alan or Médis. 25 days of annual leave + public holidays (additional days may apply in select countries based on local standards). For our Team, we offer both hybrid and fully remote working options. We use MyndUp to give our employees access to free mental health and well-being support with great success so far Paid parental leave - we want to make sure that we're supportive of families and help you feel that you don't have to compromise your family due to work The interview process We want to ensure you are set-up for success and understand what will be expected of you. If your application is successful, our interview process is as follows: Intro call: A 30-minute chat with our Talent Partner to discuss the role and your background. Core skills test: An async AI-assisted programming test to assess your coding fundamentals. Hiring Manager interview: A 60-minute chat deep diving into your experience. Pleo Challenge: A 75-minute system design interview focusing on your architecture, infrastructure and problem-solving skills. Transparency is important to us so we also wanted to share some insights about what we're looking for in applications to ensure you can set yourself up for success! With this in mind, we want to help you understand what we really care about when reviewing your application: We receive a lot of CVs, and many of them are AI-generated. We love seeing people leverage AI - it's a big focus for us internally too- but without human intervention, these CVs can sometimes become generic and fail to show a candidate in the best light. What we're really looking for is the specific details of real impact that only you - not AI - know from your previous experience. A top tip from us is to use the "Achieved X, as measured by Y, by doing Z" formula (credit: Laszlo Bock, ~2014) to give a really clear picture of what you've worked on. A final note: including links to your previous companies' websites is a huge help and allows us to truly understand your background. Every single application we receive is reviewed by a human (yes, hundreds of them) because we believe that candidates' efforts should be matched by an equal level of human care. This means that we expect a similar level of attention put into your application. Read and answer the application questions carefully, they make a huge difference in our decision-making process. This role focuses heavily on building services for internal / external users consumption. It is absolutely critical to have extensive API design and development experience, expertise in OLAP systems and to be able to work in Kotlin. Ensure your CV reflects clearly of the actual experience you have across those areas. About your application English first. Since it's our company language, please submit your application in English. You'll be using it a lot if you join us. A fair look for everyone. Our talent team reads every single application to ensure the process is fair. To keep things running smoothly, we only accept applications through our system—our support team can't pass on calls or emails. Diversity drives us. We can only reach our goals if our team reflects the world around us. That starts with you hitting apply, even if you don't tick every single box. We encourage people from all backgrounds and experiences to join us. Interview at your best. We want you to feel comfortable throughout the process. If you have any accessibility requirements or need a specific format, email ----- We'll design a process that works for you. Your data is safe. When you apply, we process your personal data as a data processor. For more information on how Pleo processes personal data, read our Privacy Policy here . Applying for multiple roles? Nothing is stopping you, and we assess every role independently. However, we do look for alignment, so make sure you can explain why your interest and experience are right for each specific role. Reapplying. If you're applying for the same role again, please wait six months from your last decision before hitting submit. Find Jobs in United Kingdom on Arbeitnow

Tasks What you'll do Grow your leads: Coach first-time team leads into confident managers, and manage your engineers directly with clear expectations and honest feedback Build the people basics: Set fair, consistent standards for performance, feedback, career growth and onboarding, much of it from scratch Unblock delivery: Find the real bottleneck, change the system and show that it worked, so delivery gets more predictable with the team we already have Own quality: Earn senior engineers' trust quickly and take real ownership of quality, so release decisions no longer depend on the CTO Connect up and across: Shape engineering strategy with the CTO, keep leadership updated on progress and risks, and turn strategy into what your teams actually work on Stay technically close: Weigh in on architecture and technical direction, and stay close enough to the code to make good calls Requirements What you'll need Experience: 8+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years managing engineering teams Leaders you've grown: You've turned senior engineers or team leads into managers, and can tell us who, how and what changed Delivery you've fixed: You've measurably improved how a team ships, without adding people to do it Technical credibility: Strong background in software development, architecture and systems design, in a TypeScript, React and Node.js stack. Senior engineers trust your calls People-first leadership: You get energy from growing people, and you've built teams others want to join Interview process Recruiter interview (45 min) CTO & People interview (70 min) Product & delivery interview (45 min) Meeting the team (2 × 30 min) Bar raiser interview with our Head of Data, plus lunch with the team leads in our Berlin office (45 min + lunch) Our core tech stack TypeScript, Python, Node.js, React, Next.js, Postgres, Pulumi, k8s You'll do well here if: You pick up problems nobody assigned you. If something's broken and no one has stepped up, you're the person who does You'd rather make the call and adjust than wait until you're certain. Speed is how we win You want to own a domain deeply enough that people rely on your judgement in it, whether or not you manage anyone You'll argue for your position and commit fully when the call goes the other way You care about details other people would call excessive. We hold a higher bar than most, on purpose You use AI constantly and still own every word you ship Every new hire should raise the bar in some meaningful way, not just fill a seat. We hold to that, and it's why you'll be working with the most talented people from all over the world. Benefits Real ownership: You own what you ship, end to end. Whether you lead a team or lead through craft, we back you to work on what matters most Work at the edge of AI and design: Kittl sits where AI, design and commerce meet. You'll be learning on the frontier, not reading about it Work-life balance: 30 vacation days a year, plus public holidays Hybrid working style: 3 days a week in our office in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg, the rest of the week from home Remote work: On top of that, work from anywhere in the world for up to 50 days (10 weeks) a year VESOP: Enrolment in our Virtual Employee Stock Option Plan. Headquarters: Philippines - remote At Mixmax, we're building the future of how revenue teams work: smarter, faster, and more human. Our platform helps teams stay on top of every conversation by automating busywork, delivering real-time insights, and integrating with the tools they already use. We're hiring a Billing Support Analyst in the Philippines to join our small but mighty team as one of the go-to contributors and resources for how our customers are billed. You'll resolve billing questions from start to finish, dig into the technical issues that sit underneath them, and keep our Stripe records accurate to the cent. It's part customer support, part billing operations, and part detective work. This role reports directly to our Billing Team Lead, who reports into Head of Customer Experience. You'll work closely with Customer Support, Customer Success, Sales and Engineering across global time zones (NAMER, LATAM, EU), and you'll help shape how we use AI and automation to make billing faster and more accurate for customers. If you check that an invoice's line items add up to its total before you read the customer's email, keep reading. Outcomes In your first 3 months Learn Mixmax's plans, pricing, billing policies and Stripe setup well enough to resolve standard billing tickets on your own. Own a share of the billing queue in Intercom (refunds, invoice questions, plan and seat changes, cancellations) with accurate, on-time responses. Troubleshoot the technical side of billing tickets, such as seat assignment, workspace access and plan-status issues, before escalating. Take over daily past-due invoice follow-up and payment-failure handling. Become a reliable backup for the Billing Team Lead, so billing keeps moving when anyone is out. Use AI tools day to day to summarize ticket history, draft replies and check your work, with every number verified by hand, and find new efficiencies for the team. In your first 6 months Handle complex cases on your own: invoice disputes, proration questions, credits, and billing setup for sales-led contracts. Run recurring reconciliations between Stripe, Salesforce and our product data, and flag mismatches before customers notice them. Write and update billing macros, help-center articles and internal process docs Help test and roll out billing automation, including AI-assisted ticket handling, and define which billing actions should stay with a human. Contribute at least one reusable AI or automation workflow to the team, such as an invoice-dispute triage prompt or a reconciliation checklist. What you'll own Accurate, timely resolution of customer billing inquiries from first reply to close. Stripe account hygiene: invoices, subscriptions, credits, refunds and payment issues. Past-due invoice collection and failed-payment follow-up. Billing accuracy checks and reconciliations across our systems. Clear documentation of billing processes, so knowledge doesn't live in one person's head What you'll be doing Answer billing questions in our support queue, explaining charges, proration and plan changes in plain language Diagnose the technical issues behind billing tickets, like a seat that is billed but not in use or a user stuck on the wrong plan, and work with Support and Engineering to fix them Prepare, correct and send invoices; process refunds, credits and cancellations within policy Spot patterns in billing tickets and turn them into fixes, process changes or product feedback Use AI and automation to work faster, while knowing where accuracy, privacy and customer trust require a human Take on ad-hoc analysis and projects that keep billing records correct What we're looking for 3+ years of combined experience in technical customer support and billing support (invoicing, payments, refunds, collections). You need hands-on experience in both. Experience at a technology or SaaS company Hands-on experience with Stripe and/or accounting and billing software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Chargebee, Zuora, NetSuite) You are very strong with numbers. Proration, percentages, discounts and reconciliations come easily to you, and you check your math without being asked. You are meticulous. You catch the wrong date, the duplicate line and the typo in an email domain. Working knowledge of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or AI features in support tools). You can explain how you use them, how you check their output, and what you won't put into them. Fluent written and spoken English. You can explain a complicated invoice to a frustrated customer clearly and kindly. Based in the Philippines, with a reliable home setup and a schedule that overlaps North American business hours (we'll agree on it together). Comfortable in a remote, fast-moving organization where processes are still being built and refined. Nice to have Experience with Intercom, Zendesk or a similar support platform, and with Salesforce Background in accounting, finance or bookkeeping Experience with subscription or usage-based billing models Comfort with spreadsheets beyond the basics (lookups, pivots) or light SQL Core competencies Numeracy: Fast, accurate reasoning with money, dates and percentages Accuracy & detail: Gets it right the first time and catches what others miss Billing operations: Knows how invoices, subscriptions, proration, refunds and collections actually work ️ Technical troubleshooting: Separates a billing problem from a product problem and finds the root cause AI fluency & judgment: Uses AI to go faster and knows when not to Clear, calm communication: Turns confusing charges into answers customers trust ️ Judgment & integrity: Applies policy fairly, escalates the right things, and treats customer money with care Why Mixmax? Remote-first with async-friendly workflows and a globally distributed team. A product with strong market fit and a loyal, engaged customer base. A culture that values autonomy, quality, innovation and momentum. Competitive compensation and flexible time off. An inclusive, thoughtful team that values long-term success for customers and for each other. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion At Mixmax, we know that nobody's perfect and that no one ever matches 100% of a job description. That's okay. Diversity and inclusion are core to our culture, and we're committed to building a more inclusive and open workplace. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role As an Applied AI Engineer on our Digital Native Business team, you'll help fast-growing, tech-forward companies build their products on Claude. You'll be the technical advisor their engineering teams turn to for architecture, agent design and evaluation, and you'll work alongside them, pair programming and reviewing architectures, to get from first prototype to production at scale. You'll partner with Account Executives and Applied AI Architects to take each customer from first conversation through technical evaluation and proof of value to a confident decision to build on Claude, then stay close as they ship and scale. These customers move quickly and expect you to have built things yourself, so you'll be at your best in the code and the architecture review, not just the meeting. Alongside Anthropic's Product and Engineering teams, you'll develop custom evaluation frameworks, prototypes and reference architectures, and turn what you learn across engagements into technical content and product feedback that helps other builders succeed with Claude. Responsibilities Serve as a deep technical advisor to high-growth, tech-forward companies, working alongside them to build innovative use cases that push the boundaries of AI Work hands-on with customer engineering teams: pair programming, architecture reviews, and code contributions that accelerate their development Develop prototypes and technical documentation—including evaluation suites, AI engineering techniques, and architecture diagrams—that enable customers to build and scale with Claude Collaborate closely with Applied AI Architects to maintain context and continuity across customer engagements Identify patterns across engagements and contribute insights back to Product, Engineering, and the broader Applied AI team Create technical content for developer audiences including documentation, tutorials, and sample code Foster community engagement through hackathons, webinars, technical office hours, and developer-focused events Travel to customer sites for workshops, implementation support, and relationship building You may be a good fit if you have 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, or technical founder Experience in a customer-facing or pre-sales technical role - partnering with customers to scope, design, and deliver solutions Production experience building LLM-powered applications, including prompting, context engineering, agent architectures, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale Strong programming skills with proficiency in Python and experience building production applications Experience working with high-growth, tech-forward companies Ability to context-switch across industries (healthcare, fintech, etc.) and use cases Builder credibility that earns trust with technical founders and engineering leaders - you've shipped products and can speak from experience Strong technical communication skills with the ability to translate complex AI concepts into architectural decisions and actionable implementation plans Experience facilitating technical workshops, hackathons, or developer-focused events Passion for making powerful technology safe and beneficial The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role's On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: £225,000 — £255,000 GBP Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices. Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this. We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team. Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you ----- addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit anthropic.com/careers directly for confirmed position openings. How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
