This promotes health equity and builds needed trust in healthcare systems. To accomplish this our teams harness the power of data and AI-technology to unlock groundbreaking medical insights and convert those insights into action that result in optimal patient outcomes and accelerates an equitable and inclusive drug development lifecycle. Visit h1.co to learn more about us. As part of H1's hiring process, all candidates are required to participate in an in-person final interview. Depending on your location, this may require travel. H1's Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps team is responsible for building, automating, and optimizing the AWS infrastructure that powers our healthcare data platforms and applications. As H1 continues to scale globally, our team plays a critical role in enabling engineering teams to deploy and operate secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud environments. What You'll Do At H1 As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll be a hands-on technical contributor responsible for designing, building, and managing AWS cloud infrastructure at scale. This role is primarily focused on cloud infrastructure engineering, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and cost optimization, rather than traditional Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). You'll partner closely with Software Engineering, Data Engineering, and other technical teams to provision new infrastructure, improve existing environments, automate manual processes, and support the evolving needs of H1's applications and data platforms. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to database infrastructure and operational support, helping improve our ability to troubleshoot and resolve database-related challenges across US-based projects. You will: Design, build, and manage scalable AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices. Own infrastructure projects end-to-end, from technical design and provisioning through deployment, troubleshooting, and optimization. Build and maintain AWS environments leveraging IAM, S3, EKS, EMR, and supporting cloud services. Develop automation and self-service capabilities using Python and scripting to streamline infrastructure provisioning and reduce manual effort. Optimize AWS infrastructure costs through resource utilization analysis, cost dashboards, and continuous improvement initiatives. About You You're a hands-on AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys building systems, solving complex technical challenges, and automating repetitive work. You have deep experience provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure through Terraform and are comfortable owning projects independently, from initial design through production deployment. You understand how cloud infrastructure supports modern SaaS applications and large-scale data platforms, and you're motivated by finding ways to make environments more scalable, secure, efficient, and cost-effective. You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where priorities evolve, take ownership of technical challenges, and bring a practical, solutions-oriented approach to your work. You Bring: Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting production AWS infrastructure, rather than primarily focusing on monitoring or SRE functions. The ability to independently scope, design, and execute complex cloud infrastructure projects while balancing operational priorities. A strong automation mindset, with experience replacing manual infrastructure processes with repeatable, scalable solutions. Experience supporting containerized applications and cloud-native data platforms. Strong troubleshooting skills across AWS infrastructure, networking, permissions, and deployment environments. Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers, data engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders. A team-first mindset and commitment to contributing to an inclusive, supportive engineering culture. Requirements 6+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure engineering or DevOps, including 5+ years working extensively with AWS. Strong expertise designing, building, and managing AWS infrastructure, including IAM, S3, EKS (Kubernetes), and EMR. Advanced proficiency with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), infrastructure provisioning, and automation. Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration in AWS environments. Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using CircleCI. Proficiency in Python and/or Bash scripting to automate infrastructure workflows and reduce manual processes. Experience with AWS cost optimization, resource utilization, and cloud infrastructure security and networking. Experience supporting or troubleshooting production databases, ideally within AWS environments. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently own complex infrastructure projects and collaborate across engineering teams. Compensation This rolepays $120,000 to $145,000 per year, based on experience, in addition to equity in the form of RSUs. Anticipated role close date: 11/25/2026 H1 OFFERS Full suite of health insurance options, in addition to generous paid time off Pre-planned company-wide wellness holidays Retirement options Health & charitable donation stipends Impactful Business Resource Groups The opportunity to work with leading biotech and life sciences companies in an innovative industry with a mission to improve healthcare around the globe H1 is proud to be an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive workplace with equal opportunity for all applicants and teammates. H1 is committed to working with and providing access and reasonable accommodation to applicants with mental and/or physical disabilities. If you require an accommodation, please reach out to your recruiter once you've begun the interview process.
