About the team: You'll join one of the teams within SumUp's Identity Lifecycle Mission, working on some of the most critical building blocks behind the merchant journey, from onboarding and identity verification to KYC/KYB, regulatory data collection, and managing customer identity throughout the entire lifecycle. Today, many of these capabilities live across different flows, legacy services, and tightly coupled integrations. We're on a journey to bring these pieces together into a more coherent, scalable platform, with shared data models, reusable services, and clear ownership boundaries. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you won't just be maintaining existing systems. You'll have the opportunity to shape how our identity platform evolves, modernise critical services, and help build foundations that can support new regulations, markets, and product requirements without reinventing the wheel every time. You'll be part of one dedicated team, but the challenges we tackle often cross team and domain boundaries. You'll work closely with Engineers, Product, Design, Compliance, Risk, and Operations, giving you the opportunity to influence solutions well beyond your own team. If you enjoy solving complex backend problems, working in a highly collaborative environment, improving reliability, and building scalable capabilities that enable other teams to move faster, this could be an exciting opportunity to make a real impact at SumUp. What you'll do: Design, build, and operate scalable backend services, APIs, event-driven workflows, and system integrations. Build reusable capabilities that power merchant onboarding, identity verification, and KYC/KYB regulatory data collection. Drive reliability and resilience across critical services through better observability, failure handling, incident response, and long-term risk reduction. Work primarily with Go, while maintaining and progressively modernising existing services written in Java. Evolve domain models and service boundaries while reducing legacy complexity, duplicated logic, and tightly coupled integrations, always with a pragmatic, incremental mindset. Own your work end-to-end, from technical design and implementation to rollout and production follow-up. Work across team and domain boundaries, turning ambiguous product and regulatory requirements into clear, scalable technical solutions. Review code and designs, mentor engineers, and help raise engineering standards across the mission. You'll be great for this role if you have: Strong professional experience building and operating production backend systems with high business impact. Experience working with Go and Java and confidence in maintaining and evolving existing Java services. Strong knowledge of API design, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, data modelling, testing, and system design. Experience with event streaming platforms such as Kafka and modern observability tools such as Grafana or Honeycomb. Experience deploying and operating services in cloud environments such as AWS, ideally with Docker and Kubernetes. A strong ownership mindset, with the ability to take complex problems from definition through to production. Experience improving the reliability of business-critical systems and turning recurring incidents into lasting engineering improvements. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working across Engineering, Product, Compliance, Risk, and Operations. Nice to have: Experience in fintech, payments, KYC/KYB, identity verification, or regulatory systems. Experience translating regulatory and compliance requirements into clear, scalable engineering solutions, while helping bridge the gap between Compliance and Engineering. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale. Working at Samsara means you'll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that's shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring. As part of a recently public company, you'll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term. About the role At Samsara, we're looking for a hands-on Staff Software Engineer to help turn growing Telematics products into major businesses. Our new product bets include routing and workforce management for physical operations. The portfolio has paying customers and early traction. You'll help shape what comes next, working directly with customers to understand their operations, test ideas and build solutions they choose to use. You'll stay close to the work through production, customer adoption and scale. This is a technical leadership role with substantial hands-on engineering. You'll define important problems and make product and technical decisions alongside Product, Design and Engineering partners. You'll bring the judgement to move forward when requirements are incomplete, and the influence to align other teams around a clear direction. What you will do Work directly with customers and customer-facing teams to understand unmet needs, test assumptions and identify opportunities worth pursuing. Agree on success measures with Product and Design before investing in a solution. Lead ambiguous initiatives end to end, from discovery and prototypes through production rollout, adoption and iteration. Use customer feedback and product data to decide what to improve, expand or stop. Write and ship code on the critical path. Work across services, APIs and customer-facing experiences as the problem requires, combining technical depth with the ability to learn unfamiliar parts of the product. Set technical direction for your area and align the teams needed to deliver it. Make pragmatic architecture choices that support rapid learning today and reliable growth over time. Own the production quality of what you build. Design for correctness, reliability and performance, plan safe rollouts, and use operational evidence to address the constraints that emerge as usage grows. Increase the effectiveness of the engineers around you through design and code reviews, mentoring senior engineers, and removing recurring obstacles to delivery. Share context and decisions so others can move independently. About the role: In this role, you will: Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team What you will bring A track record of shipping customer-facing products and growing them beyond their initial launch. You can explain your contribution to measurable outcomes such as adoption, revenue growth, retention, customer efficiency or cost to serve. Strong product judgement. You have worked directly with customers, clarified poorly defined problems and made decisions using evidence, including changing direction when an initial idea did not work. Deep hands-on software engineering ability, with recent experience designing, implementing and operating production systems. You can move from a prototype to maintainable software and explain the trade-offs along the way. Experience scaling products and the systems behind them. You know how to identify the next constraint, balance speed with reliability, and make technical investments that support customer and business growth. Technical leadership across team boundaries. You have built alignment without formal authority, made other engineers more effective, and communicated difficult choices clearly to technical and business partners. Experience that could be useful Experience building B2B software through an early growth stage, or working on routing, workforce management or other software for physical operations. We value evidence of learning a complex customer domain and delivering results; previous industry experience is helpful, rather than essential. What success looks like Customers adopt the capabilities you help build and can see the benefit in their day-to-day operations. The products remain dependable as usage grows. Your technical decisions support measurable business progress, and the teams around you can deliver more effectively because of your work. Total Rewards At Samsara, we build for the people who keep the global economy moving. We want owners, not passengers, which is why our rewards are designed to fuel high-impact builders. Our compensation program delivers above-market total compensation through a combination of base salary, performance-based bonus/variable pay, and equity (for eligible roles) in a high-growth public company. We meaningfully differentiate pay for our top performers, who have the opportunity to earn above-market compensation that can outpace the broader market over time. About Wolt At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we're building the delivery of (almost) everything and you'll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe. Working at Wolt isn't always easy, but it's definitely exciting. Here you'll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You'll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you're a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life. Wolt is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Front-end-leaning) to join our Operations Foundations team. The team sits within the DoorDash Client and AI Development group and is responsible for the foundation that hundreds of engineers across Wolt, DoorDash, and Deliveroo rely on to build internal operations tools. Our platform hosts 250+ micro-frontends (MFEs) used to operate every part of the business. Our team is focused on building a scalable, reliable, and high-quality internal tooling platform that supports Wolt, DoorDash, and Deliveroo's operations and business. The team plays an important role in improving how engineers build, test, and ship software across the organization, with a strong emphasis on reusable libraries, micro-frontend architecture, and agentic development: building the platform where AI agents can take changes from task to merged PR safely and reliably without lowering the quality bar. Currently, we are focused on unifying our frontend platforms, evolving shared components and library development, improving developer productivity, and enabling teams to deliver more independently through better architecture and tooling. It's an exciting time to join because the team has strong ownership and a broad technical impact. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can take ownership of complex technical initiatives across both frontend and sometimes backend and infra domains. In this role, you'll work primarily with TypeScript, React, Node.js, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Buildkite), and MFE architecture to build scalable, maintainable solutions that support multiple product teams and business areas. Success in this role means becoming a trusted technical owner who consistently delivers reliable solutions and helps the team execute more effectively. Six months into the role, we'd expect you to be independently leading technical initiatives and contributing meaningfully to architecture and delivery planning. This role offers the opportunity to solve challenging engineering problems with visible impact across the business. It's especially exciting for someone who enjoys combining product engineering with platform thinking, improving developer workflows, and building systems that scale across teams and domains. What you'll be doing Owning the Foundation: the runtime, build, deployment, and developer experience that 250+ MFEs and hundreds of engineers depend on every day. Evolving Our Micro-Frontend Architecture : improve composition, isolation, and shared dependency strategies so feature teams can move fast. Product and Planning: Independently drive projects from idea to production: breaking down ambiguous problems into clear technical plans, estimating delivery, identifying risks early, and delivering high-quality solutions in a timely manner. Supporting Engineering Excellence : Champion best practices, raise the bar for code quality, and turn lessons learned into platform improvements. Long-Term Thinking: Balance short-term feature unblockers with the long-term health, security, and maintainability of the platform. Agentic Development: Build the foundations that let AI agents work autonomously on our platform, including agent instructions, reusable skills, tool integrations, guardrails, and the automated checks that make agent-authored changes safe to ship. AI Fluency: Work agent-first in your own day-to-day: delegate implementation to agents, and focus your judgment on direction, architecture, and verifying outcomes. 📍This role can be based in our Berlin tech hub. Read more about our hybrid setup here . Feel free to check out the Wolt Tech Blog for more insight into our culture and technology. Our humble expectations Proven expertise in building production frontend applications using TypeScript and React. Solid backend knowledge, comfortable owning and operating Node.js services that support frontend infrastructure. Strong knowledge of frontend build tools, bundlers, and module systems, and the ability to evolve them as the platform grows. Track record of diagnosing and resolving complex performance, reliability, or DX issues in large frontend codebases. Experience driving technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders. Strong stakeholder management skills: aligning priorities, managing expectations, and communicating trade-offs clearly with partner teams and leadership. Strong communication skills and a collaborative, platform-mindset approach to working with feature teams. Strong documentation skills, including experience writing RFCs or ADRs. Nice to Haves Experience with micro-frontend architecture. Frontend platform engineering experience. Experience building shared component libraries used by many product teams. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and cloud infrastructure for frontend workloads. Experience or interest in observability and reliability (SRE). Experience building tooling or workflows for autonomous AI coding agents (e.g., agent instructions, skills, MCP servers, or evaluating agent-generated code). What's in it for you Impact: Build and shape the platform that thousands of people depend on. Scale: Work on real platform problems behind 250+ MFEs with hundreds of monthly contributors. Collaboration: Partner with talented engineers, designers, and operators across companies to make their daily work faster and better. Growth: Take on deep technical challenges across frontend architecture, agentic development, DX, and improving engineering efficiency. Culture: Be part of a diverse, open-minded team that values creativity, autonomy, and continuous learning. Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion We're committed to growing and empowering a more inclusive community within our company, industry, and cities. That's why we hire and cultivate diverse teams of people from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We believe that true innovation happens when everyone has room at the table and the tools, resources, and opportunity to excel. About Alma At Alma, we believe sustainable commerce depends on fair, well‑balanced trade. Because finance plays a pivotal role in business, our mission is to put it back in its rightful place - serving merchants and consumers. Our installment and deferred payment solutions help merchants boost sales by 20% or more, increase customer loyalty, and deliver a seamless shopping experience - without encouraging bad debt. As the buy now pay later leader in France and active in 10 European countries, we've empowered over +25,000 merchants and 10 million consumers. With 400+ Almakers and €100M+ ARR, Alma is scaling rapidly across Europe as a member of the Next40, and we're just getting started! About the team Strategic Finance is part of Alma's Finance team and reports to the CFO. Our job is to understand Alma's economics better than anyone: we own the top line, the unit economics and the Contribution Margin, and we turn that knowledge into decisions on pricing, partnerships, markets and products. We are organising the team so that each person owns a piece of Alma's P&L from start to finish: its business plan, its recurring analysis, its key finance processes, its business partners and its Board materials. Depending on the scope, that piece can be payments and partnerships, our existing merchant base, or new business and growth, each with one or more European markets attached. About the job Own your piece of the P&L. Build and maintain its business plan, follow its performance month after month, and explain what moves the numbers and why, all the way up to the Board. Run the key finance processes of your scope. Depending on the scope: pricing, merchant performance reviews, cost and margin analysis, country reviews. You are accountable for their quality, and for making them better at every cycle. Be a real partner to the business. Work day to day with the commercial, product and operations teams, step back from the numbers, and bring a clear recommendation whenever a decision is on the table. Rebuild how finance works with AI. Prototype AI-assisted workflows, industrialise the ones that work, and free up the team's time for analysis and influence. Raising the bar on how we work matters as much as what we deliver. You will work with Google Sheets · Excel · SQL (largely AI-assisted) · Notion · Slack · AI assistants and LLMs About you To succeed in this job Have 6 to 7 years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, transaction services, consulting or a similar analytical role, ideally including time in a fast-growing company. Model with ease and think in unit economics: you can build a business plan from raw data and spot when a number doesn't make sense. Querying is largely AI-assisted at Alma, so data judgement matters more than deep SQL. Have a strong appetite for AI and learn fast. Ideally, you have already built AI-assisted workflows and made them stick. Take ownership and bring business sense: you make a scope your own, you know when to step back, and you can influence people who don't report to you. You work comfortably in English and have enough French for day-to-day exchanges with colleagues (native French is not required). And it will be nice if you also Hold a Master's degree in Finance, Business or Engineering, or equivalent. Have exposure to fintech, payments or BNPL. Speak a third language beyond French and English, a real plus given our European footprint. Don't meet every single requirement? At Alma, we believe great hires come from diverse paths. If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply. We value potential, curiosity and the ability to grow as much as experience. What's in it for you If you join, you will be able to grow and impact on: Ownership and visibility. A piece of Alma's P&L that is truly yours, with direct exposure. AI at the core of the job. The chance to redesign how a finance team works, building the workflows rather than just using them. A team in the making. Strategic Finance is being restructured now: you will help shape how it works, in a Next40 scale-up growing across Europe, with room to take on broader responsibilities. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on 12 months Profit-sharing and employee savings plan Health insurance: 100% covered by Alma including family package Disability insurance: 100% covered by Alma Sport: partnerships with Gymlib and Classpass, or €30/month reimbursement for your sports activities Maternity/paternity leave: salary maintained at 100% during leave with no seniority requirement. Return to work at 4/5 schedule paid at 100% for 8 weeks. Sustainable Mobility Package (FMD): €544.80/year (excluding full-remote contracts) Meal vouchers: €10/day, 50% covered by Alma Mental health: free access to MindDay platform Paid time off: 25 days/year (+ additional paid leave granted for employees on executive contracts) Access to our Learning & Development Platform 2 weeks of full remote possible per year in summer Interview Process Video call with a Talent Acquisition team member to understand your path, motivation & present you the role. Video call with your future manager to deep dive the role, the team, your profile and answer all your questions. Case study presentation with 2 - 3 team members (ideally in house) to assess your practical knowledge. 1 or 2 additional interviews customized to the role's level to further assess your skills and team fit. Diversity & Inclusion At Alma, we believe that diversity fuels innovation and makes our community stronger. We are committed to building a workplace where every person feels seen, respected, and empowered to do their best work whatever their gender, background, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability or lived experience. As an equal opportunity employer, we welcome applicants from all walks of life, and all employment decisions are made based on qualifications, merit, and business needs.
