Our team is committed to enhancing physician and patient quality of life through Elation, a SaaS cloud-based clinical platform. Since inception, we've been focused on building a delightful, world-class experience that empowers physicians to deliver phenomenal care to patients. Customer support has been the same job for twenty years: a queue, a ticket, an SLA, a closed case. That's ending, fast. Over the next 6–9 months, AI will take on more of the routine, repetitive cases at Elation. That doesn't shrink the human role — it builds on it. The work becomes product intelligence: shaping how AI handles conversations, holding the customer-trust moments that need real judgment, and turning patterns into priorities Engineering delivers. We're hiring Support Engineers to anchor that shift: people who don't just close tickets, but trace them back to the line of product code causing them, ship the fix that resolves the customer's problem immediately, and partner with senior engineers on the cases complex enough to need them. You might be the recent engineering grad who spent a summer at a busy front desk, in a popular restaurant, or on a support line because you like people as much as you like problems, and who's been quietly automating things nobody asked you to fix since your first CS class. Or, you might be the person who leads team projects, tinkers with the dashboards, automations, or workflows so automatically that colleagues assume you are an engineer even if you aren't. If that sounds like you, this role turns that problem-solving instinct into your core responsibility. As a Support Engineer, you'll bring empathy and judgment to the cases that need it most, own the quality of AI-driven solutions in your domain, and synthesize patterns that influence Product and Engineering roadmaps. We hire for judgment, taste, and curiosity, not process adherence. The bar isn't how many cases you closed; it's how much you reshaped the conditions under which cases happen. Role and Responsibilities Synthesize and share customer insights. Surface patterns from your cases in weekly and monthly reports, participate in Product and Engineering discussions with what you're learning, and mentor Support Team members on AI workflows, scripting, and SQL queries. Use Good Judgment to Solve Cases. Own customer escalations with cases that genuinely require seasoned judgment, the ones AI can't safely close. Build and protect customer trust in moments that matter. Build and own AI quality. Configure AI within Elation's stack (intents, knowledge sources, escalation rules), build lightweight external automations and scripts, and own the quality of AI outputs in your domain. What success looks like in your first 6 months Delivered solutions that reduced case volume by 10% or eliminated recurring issue categories, with measurable customer impact (e.g., CSAT, reduction in case reopens) A monthly drumbeat of synthesized insights that Product and Engineering act on, with visible impact on customer experience or a measurable drop in case volume Owns a measurable case-volume reduction in your domain by making cases not happen, not by closing them faster You question default workflows instead of just executing them, and you ship more by removing work, not just doing more of it You build with AI to make yourself and the teammates around you faster — automating triage, drafting responses, prototyping internal tools, and turning one-off builds into reusable patterns Support can run with You've picked up or sharpened a technical skill — SQL, Python, an API, a scripting language — specifically because a customer problem needed it, not because a course assigned it Mentors Associate teammates on AI builds and pattern synthesis Identified and closed gaps across internal and customer-facing documentation, improving accuracy and reducing repeat questions. Professional Qualifications 1–5+ years of experience in Engineering, data analytics, or AI/automation tinkering in any field — OR a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, plus real experience talking to people under pressure (support, hospitality, retail, service, resident advising) Comfortable enough with code to experiment : you've written scripts, touched an API, or built something in Python, SQL, or JavaScript — even if it was just for a class project , team project or yourself A concrete portfolio of things you've built or shipped: prompt-engineered systems, dashboards, automations, class or personal projects — with evidence of outcomes Strong customer-facing communication and trust-building skills Pattern recognition and synthesis muscle AI-native default. Reaches for AI tools first, treats ambiguity as the work rather than a blocker, and wants to learn how to configure and supervise these systems — not just use them A deep desire to drive results for our customers, with high ownership over the outcomes you own Curiosity and natural problem-solving instincts An instinct to raise the bar for the teammates around you — teaching others to build and synthesize, not just modeling it yourself Show us your work Along with your application, in a cover letter send us: 2–3 things you've built or shipped that changed a metric or outcome — a work project, a personal build, or something from school or an internship — what you made, who it was for, why you needed to do it, and what changed. A short story about a time your analysis or insight changed a decision someone else made. Salary range $70,000 - $95,000 CAD Elation welcomes individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life. Elation is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and is dedicated to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive work environment. We are committed to equal opportunity for all employees and applicants, and value individuals with diverse perspectives including, but not limited to: race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, gender identity or gender expression, national origin, disability or veteran status. Elation also complies with all applicable national, state and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment as well as work authorization and employment eligibility verification requirements of the Immigration and Nationality Act and IRCA. Adaptyv is building an automated lab that lets AI agents run biology experiments. We're entering the era of agentic science where AI models can now design novel proteins, propose hypotheses, and iterate on experimental results. But they can't run the experiments themselves - that's still a manual, months-long process. We're building the infrastructure that gives AI agents access to the physical world. We are one of the fastest growing biotech companies, trusted by leading biopharmas, frontier AI labs, and the techbio companies pushing the field forward. This is a rare chance to help advance some of the most important work happening in biotech today. Our automated lab is powered by a deep software + hardware stack: lab instruments worth millions of USD reverse-engineered into API-controllable hardware, dozens of devices orchestrated through complex workflows, full observability on everything that happens in the lab, processing pipelines for messy physical-world data, and AI systems that troubleshoot production results and accelerate assay development. We're growing rapidly and are hiring for talented people to scale and support the massive demand for AI-driven wet lab experimentation. About the Role This is not a lab technician position. This is a senior scientist who owns assay quality, data QC and controls, and production troubleshooting across the entire experimental pipeline. The production team runs 150+ experiments per month across expression, BLI, SPR, thermostability, and enzyme activity. When something goes wrong (failed expression, anomalous binding data, instrument artifacts), this person diagnoses the root cause and fixes it. As the assay and instrumentation portfolio expands, this person translates new R&D methods into production-ready protocols, builds robust methods that junior technicians can execute reliably, and designs comprehensive controls that enable automated QC and data processing. This is a player-coach position. You will still run experiments personally, especially as you integrate into the lab, but you will also elevate the whole team's capabilities. What You'll Do Troubleshoot production failures across the full pipeline. A batch of proteins isn't expressing: is it the construct design, the expression system, or the media? BLI sensorgrams look noisy: is it the sensor tips, the sample prep, or an instrument issue? You figure it out, fix it, and make the cause easier to identify next time. Develop and document SOPs for new assays as the portfolio expands. Take methods from the R&D team and make them production-ready: robust, reproducible, and executable by junior technicians without hand-holding. Mentor a growing production team. Set quality standards, review data, train new hires, and build a culture where people flag problems early instead of hiding them. Work at the intersection of biology, automation, and QC. Collaborate with researchers, laboratory technicians, and automation engineers on protocol optimization for work cells, and with software on LabOS protocol integration. Own the relationship between assay science and throughput. The easy version of every assay doesn't scale, and the scalable version often sacrifices quality. You find the right tradeoff. What We're Looking For Deep hands-on expertise in protein production: expression (E. coli, mammalian, cell-free), purification (IMAC, SEC), and biophysical characterization (BLI and SPR at minimum). This isn't negotiable. You need to have done this work yourself, at volume. PhD in protein biochemistry, biophysics, or a relevant field, plus 3–5 years in a production or development role at a CRO, foundry, or high-throughput lab. Academic postdocs count if the work was high-throughput and production-oriented. Experience with high-throughput workflows. You're comfortable with 96-well plates and liquid handlers, not just single-column purifications. You've optimized protocols for scale, not just for one perfect result. Mentorship mindset. You've managed or trained junior scientists before. You enjoy teaching and get satisfaction from watching your team grow. Troubleshooting instinct. When data looks wrong, your first impulse is to understand why, not to rerun the experiment and hope it works. Quality-obsessed but pragmatic. You care deeply about data quality, but you also understand that production has deadlines and sometimes "good enough" is the right call. Bridge between R&D and production. You can speak both languages: the exploratory mindset of research and the reproducibility demands of production. We're growing rapidly and are hiring for talented people to scale and support the massive demand for AI-driven wet lab experimentation. About the Role We're scaling our automated lab fast, and the automation team builds and maintains the work cells that make high-throughput biology possible — Hamilton liquid handlers, robot arms, plate readers, BLI/SPR instruments, all orchestrated by LabOS. We're looking for a Lab Automation Intern to work hands-on with that team in Lausanne: building and running automated protocols, helping bring new instruments online, and keeping production automation healthy. This is a practical, on-site role for someone who likes working where software meets hardware meets wet lab. You'll spend your time at the bench and the keyboard — programming liquid handlers, watching robots run, scripting small integrations, and figuring out why something broke. What You'll Do Help build and run automated liquid-handling protocols on our robots (Hamilton STAR and others), controlled in Python with open-source tooling like PyLabRobot / PyHamilton — with guidance from the automation team Support work-cell operation and maintenance: loading runs, swapping consumables, calibrating instruments, and troubleshooting when something jams or misreadsx Write real software in Python — instrument drivers, integrations, and tooling that controls hardware and moves data through LabOS, building on open-source libraries like PyLabRobot / PyHamilton Help reverse-engineer how an instrument talks — capturing its traffic (e.g. with Wireshark or a USB/serial sniffer) so we can control it in code Run tests on new protocols and instruments, record results carefully, and flag anomalies Document protocols, work-cell layouts, and fixes so the next person can reproduce them Pitch in on the physical side — wiring up a new device, organizing the work cell, prepping plates and reagents for automated runs What We're Looking For Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's in engineering, robotics, mechatronics, computer science, bioengineering, or a related field A generalist maker — you like building things, taking them apart, and figuring out why they don't work, across software, electronics, and mechanics Self-starter — you spot what needs doing and get on with it, rather than waiting to be told Solid software skills. This is a software-heavy role, not a lab-assistant gig. You write real Python — you can build a driver, structure code others can read, work with APIs and Git, and debug your way through someone else's library AI-native. It's 2026 — you build with coding agents. You use Claude Code (or similar) to write, debug, and ship software faster than you could by hand, and you're hungry to push how far that goes Organized and reliable — you keep good notes and don't let things slip through the cracks A background in biology isn't required, but you should find it genuinely cool that we're teaching robots to run biology experiments Bonus: any maker / hacker experience — 3D printing and CAD, electronics and soldering, microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32), machining, robotics, or lab automation. Using or contributing to open-source projects (PyLabRobot, PyHamilton, Opentrons, or anything else) is a big plus.
