Who we are Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale. Working at Samsara means you'll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that's shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring. As part of a recently public company, you'll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term. About the role: At Samsara, our People Partners contribute to organizational strategy and meaningfully impact business outcomes. We are looking for a Senior People Partner to support key segments across our Go-To-Market (GTM) and Sales teams.  Reporting directly to the Director, GTM People Partners, you will work alongside executive leadership, facilitate strategy, and solve high-impact, real-world business challenges. We're moving fast, reinventing playbooks, and actively embracing the new era of AI and modern organizational dynamics. We operate with a creative, problem-solving mindset that prioritizes common-sense solutions and business-focused metrics. If you thrive on building trusted leader relationships, tackling complex talent challenges, and driving measurable impact, this is the team for you. This role is open to candidates residing in the US or Canada. You should apply if: You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact – helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely. You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role won't be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development, countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper growth environment. You're energized by our opportunity: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers. You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-calibre team that will encourage you to do your best.  In this role, you will: Act as a Strategic Thought Partner: Establish yourself as an indispensable, embedded partner to sales and GTM leaders by aligning talent priorities directly with business outcomes. Drive Creative Problem-Solving: Acts with urgency, proactively diagnosing team, manager, and organizational needs, and recommends business aligned solutions.  Execute Core Talent Programs: Drive continuous talent management, compensation/reward programs, and retention strategies designed to lower attrition in high-volume GTM environments. Collaborate Across the People Function: Partner seamlessly with Regional People Partners, Program Managers, and COEs to build, scale, and seamlessly deliver strategic people solutions. Champion Samsara's Culture: Role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices. Connect in Person: Travel roughly once per quarter for leadership offsites, business strategy meetings, and key team gatherings. Minimum requirements for the role: 6+ years of People Partnering. Experience partnering with go-to-market teams (sales, CS or similar), or broader People experience (programs, talent, etc.) alongside business partnering. Learning oriented with demonstrated experience leveraging AI to automate routine tasks. Ability to work well in a fast-paced, iterative environment, open to changes in focus and direction. Excellent analytical capability, attention to detail, and problem-solving acumen. Experience using data to identify insights and influence leadership decision-making. Effective communication, consulting, coaching and facilitation skills. Total Rewards At Samsara, we build for the people who keep the global economy moving. We want owners, not passengers, which is why our rewards are designed to fuel high-impact builders. Our compensation program delivers above-market total compensation through a combination of base salary, performance-based bonus/variable pay, and equity (for eligible roles) in a high-growth public company. We meaningfully differentiate pay for our top performers, who have the opportunity to earn above-market compensation that can outpace the broader market over time. Beyond compensation, we provide the foundations that enable long-term success: a flexible, employee-led remote model, a professional development stipend, comprehensive health and parental leave plans, and more. If you're ready to build for the long term and own the outcome, your journey starts here. Flexible Working  At Samsara, we embrace a flexible working model that caters to the diverse needs of our teams. Together we're building the data infrastructure layer that moves, transforms, and adds context to data — from the moment it lands to the point where teams and AI systems depend on it. As we bring our teams and technology together, we're building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products our customers know and trust. It's a good time to join a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work. About the Role Product Finance covers two things: how our products perform, and what they cost to build, run, and support. This role owns the cost and investment side, as the finance partner to the Product and Customer Support organizations. You'll own the operating expense P&L for both organizations — headcount and hiring plans, vendor and program spend, annual planning, monthly close, and budget-vs-actuals — and work with those leaders on where to spend and what to trade off. You'll also build our view of product investment at the portfolio level: what we spend behind each product line, what it returns, and what that means for how the roadmap gets funded. That includes bringing cost of revenue and unit economics into the picture, so we can talk about product margin rather than just product spend. This is how we'll decide where to invest and where to pull back. You'll build our cost-to-serve view as well — support cost by account and segment, and the economics of deflection and AI-assisted support. Expect close work with Product Managers, Support and Engineering leaders, Pricing, Corporate FP&A, and Accounting, and regular exposure to senior leadership as we scale toward public company readiness. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in our New York, NY office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team. What You'll Do Serve as the finance business partner to Product and Customer Support leadership — own their budgets, partner on spend decisions, and flag risks, trade-offs, and reallocation opportunities early. Own the annual operating plan for both organizations, including headcount and hiring plans, vendor and program spend, and quarterly reforecasts. Own monthly close, accruals, and variance analysis — budget vs. actuals with clear driver explanations and forward-looking implications. Build the portfolio view of product investment: what we spend behind each product line, what it returns, and what that implies for roadmap funding and resource allocation. Bring cost of revenue and product unit economics into that view, working with the teams that own the underlying cost data. Build cost-to-serve analytics — support cost by account and segment, and the economics of deflection and AI-assisted support. Build business cases for new product investments and major roadmap decisions, including the economics of retiring or consolidating products, and provide Pricing with the unit economics behind packaging and monetization changes. Co-own the Product Monthly and Quarterly Financial Reviews with the product top-line lead, so cost and performance are presented together. Improve how this work gets done — better data models, less manual assembly, and AI applied to recurring analysis. What We're Looking For 4+ years in FP&A, strategic finance, product finance, investment banking, or consulting, including ownership of a model or forecast that others relied on. Experience owning an operating expense budget, or partnering with a non-finance organization on its spend. Strong modeling skills across both driver-based revenue forecasts and operating expense and headcount models. Working knowledge of software and subscription economics — ARR, NRR, ARPA, expansion, gross margin — ideally in a usage-based business. Comfort working directly with large and complex datasets. SQL proficiency strongly preferred. Ability to turn analysis into a clear recommendation and present it to Product, Support, and senior leadership. Interest in how software gets built and what it costs to run. Nice to Have Product or Engineering finance partnership at a software, data infrastructure, or developer tools company. Hands-on product margin, cost of revenue, or cost-to-serve analysis. Experience supporting a Customer Support, Services, or other cost-to-serve organization. Usage-based pricing, packaging, or monetization modeling. Planning and BI tools (Pigment, Looker, Tableau, Sigma) and lightweight automation in Python or SQL. Experience through a period of rapid scaling or IPO preparation. #LI-JG1 #LI-Hybrid The compensation range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire compensation for the target position and level, and may include sales incentives or target bonuses depending on the role.  Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Senior Staff Engineer, Expansion Experiences

About Gusto At Gusto, we're on a mission to grow the small business economy. We handle the hard stuff — payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR — so owners can focus on their craft and their customers. With teams in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, we support more than 500,000 small businesses nationwide and are building a workplace that reflects the people we serve. All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs) — because everyone who helps build Gusto should share in its success. Offer amounts are determined by role, level, and location. Learn more about our Total Rewards philosophy . AI is a fundamental part of how work gets done at Gusto. We expect all team members to actively engage with AI tools relevant to their role and grow their fluency as the technology evolves. AI experience requirements vary by role and will be assessed during the interview process. Most small businesses on Gusto are only using a fraction of what could actually help them run their business: the right plan tier, the right benefit, the right feature at the right moment. We're investing in building more of that expertise directly into the product itself, through recommendations, nurture journeys, and self-serve conversion paths that work alongside the support our Sales team already provides. As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on Expansion Experiences, you'll own outcomes across that whole funnel, from the moment a customer's need surfaces through to the ongoing value of what they adopt. That means real autonomy: shaping the technical approach, partnering with Product, Design, and Data Science to decide what's worth building, calling the shots on what to test now versus later, and flagging the technical investments the team will need before they become urgent. If you want your work to move retained and expansion revenue for a company serving 500,000+ small businesses, this is the team. Here's what you'll do day-to-day: Own outcomes across the full expansion funnel, not just a single surface or feature within it. Shape the technical approach and architecture behind recommendations and conversion journeys so it holds up as a foundation other initiatives can build on. Make sharp scoping calls under a time box: ship the simplest version that proves or disproves an idea, then iterate based on what you learn. Design experiments and use ambiguous or noisy data to decide what's worth scaling versus cutting. Partner independently with Product, Design, and Data Science to help shape the roadmap, not just execute it. Raise the engineering bar through pragmatic technical direction, strong code review, and mentoring engineers around you, scoping out work and delegating it to other engineers on the team once it's ready to hand off. Here's what we're looking for: Successful applicants typically have 10+ years of software development experience, including building and shipping full-stack, customer-facing products at scale. A product-minded engineer who starts from the customer problem and the metric that matters, not just the ticket, and can operate independently across product, design, and data partners. Experience in a growth, lifecycle, or conversion-focused context (onboarding, upsell flows, personalization, or recommendations) is ideal — or a demonstrated ability to think this way even without the exact domain background. Demonstrated ability to move quickly and execute with high quality — someone who ships, measures, and iterates rather than waiting for perfect certainty. Experience owning multi-quarter initiatives end to end, from early concept through measurable business impact. Comfort navigating ambiguity and leading peers through influence, without relying on formal authority. Experience with large-scale refactors, performance and reliability work, and a strong sense of technical ownership over your product area. A track record of mentoring engineers and helping teams scale their impact, including knowing when to delegate scoped work to other engineers rather than carrying it yourself. A track record of spotting technical or product opportunities before being asked, and building the case to prioritize them. Experience leveraging AI tools or systems to accelerate development, improve testing, and deliver new product capabilities. Ability to build well-structured, maintainable, well-documented code. Ability to effectively communicate across engineering teams and with business stakeholders. Nice to Have: Experience in, or interest working in, Ruby on Rails, React, GraphQL, and TypeScript. Please note that travel to Gusto's office for onboarding is required for this position. If you have any questions regarding this requirement, please share with your recruiter. Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale. When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required. This includes non-office days for hybrid employees. Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at 191,000–240,000 in Denver & most remote locations, and 225,000–275,000 for San Francisco & New York. Stock equity is additional. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above. At Gusto, we don't use titles the traditional way, as a signal of rank or hierarchy. Instead, our titles describe two things at once — your craft (what you do, e.g. Engineering, Design) and your scope of ownership (what you're accountable for) — which is why you'll see something like "Head of X" instead of a rank word like "Director" that tells you neither. Because of this, the title on this posting may look different from what you'd expect based on the scope and seniority of the role, and from how similar roles are typically titled elsewhere. If you have questions about how this role compares to your current title or level, your recruiter can help translate. Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.  When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required. This includes non-office days for hybrid employees. Reliable, consistent presence: We expect regular and predictable attendance, whether you're working in-office, hybrid, or fully remote, so that you stay closely connected to your team, customers, and stakeholders in real time and ensure colleagues and customers receive the timely support and responsiveness they deserve. Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for small businesses, you will find a home at Gusto.  Gusto is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate in hiring or any employment decision based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other applicable legally protected characteristic. Gusto considers qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state and local law. Gusto is also committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures. We want to see our candidates perform to the best of their ability. Deep hands-on architecture experience in Marketo or an equivalent marketing automation platform, plus strong Salesforce fluency and shared platform ownership with Revenue Operations. Experience designing scalable lifecycle, scoring, routing, campaign taxonomy, and data governance practices. Strong measurement judgment, including understanding attribution limitations, plus SQL and BI fluency to investigate performance independently.
