About Nscale Nscale is the GPU cloud engineered for AI. We provide cost-effective, high-performance infrastructure for AI start-ups and large enterprise customers. Nscale enables AI-focused companies to achieve superior results by reducing the complexity of AI development. Our GPU cloud bolsters technical capabilities and directly supports strategic business outcomes, including cost management, rapid innovation, and environmental responsibility. We thrive on a culture of relentless innovation, ownership, and accountability, where every team member takes pride in their work and drives it with excellence and urgency. As an Nscaler, you'll build trust through openness and transparency, where everyone is inspired to do their best work. If you join our team, you'll be contributing to building the technology that powers the future. About the Role We're seeking a Director of Technical Program Management – Networking to build and lead the team of Technical Program Managers who deliver Nscale's network infrastructure across Europe. This team sits within our Deployment organisation, a build org that owns every step from hardware arrival on site through to customer acceptance. You'll own the delivery of cluster networking, data centre networking, and WAN programmes across our European sites, leading TPMs who partner with Network Engineering, Data Centre Operations, Supply Chain, and external carriers and vendors. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has delivered networks at hyperscale and knows how to turn complex, multi-site builds into predictable, repeatable execution. The role involves regular travel to our sites and partners. What You'll be Doing Build, lead, and mentor a team of Technical Program Managers covering cluster networking, data centre networking, and WAN delivery across Europe. Own the end-to-end network delivery plan for new GPU cluster builds and expansions, from hardware arrival through installation, validation, and customer acceptance. Set the operating model for network programme delivery: planning standards, milestone gates, risk and dependency management, and reporting. Partner with Network Engineering on design readiness, BOMs, and build sequencing for Ethernet and InfiniBand fabrics, front-end networks, and WAN interconnects. Drive alignment across Deployment, Data Centre Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, SRE, and Commercial teams so network delivery never blocks customer handover. Manage strategic relationships with carriers, IXPs, colocation providers, and network hardware vendors. Establish metrics for delivery speed, quality, and predictability, and use them to drive continuous improvement. Communicate status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to executive leadership and customers. Hire top TPM talent in a highly competitive market and grow a high-performing, accountable team culture. About You 12+ years of experience in technical programme management, network engineering, or infrastructure delivery, including 5+ years leading TPM or engineering teams. Track record delivering large-scale network infrastructure at a hyperscaler or major network vendor (e.g. Microsoft, AWS, Oracle/OCI, Cisco, or similar). Strong technical grounding in cluster and data centre networking, WAN, and routing (BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, Ethernet and InfiniBand fabrics). Experience running multi-site, multi-country builds with complex hardware, vendor, and carrier dependencies. Proven ability to build programme management frameworks that scale with a fast-growing organisation. Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable influencing without authority. Willingness to travel regularly across Europe to sites and partners. Nice to Have Experience delivering networking for large GPU clusters or AI training environments. Familiarity with HPC network topologies (Fat Tree, Rail) and high-speed optics (400G/800G). Experience with network automation and infrastructure-as-code in a deployment context. PMP, PgMP, or similar certification. Why this role matters Every GPU we deploy is only as useful as the network that connects it. This role sets how quickly and reliably Nscale turns hardware into capacity our customers can use, and shapes how network delivery scales as we expand across Europe. Equal Opportunities Statement At Nscale, we are committed to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplace. We believe that a variety of perspectives enriches our work environment, and we encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, experiences, and abilities. We strongly encourage applications from people of colour, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, parents, carers, and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds. If there's anything we can do to accommodate your specific situation, please let us know. The responsibilities outlined in this job description are not exhaustive and are intended to provide a general overview of the position. The employee may be required to perform additional duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management, consistent with the skills and qualifications required for the role. Senior Applied Scientist, Efficient LLM Inference & Model Optimization
Full TimeOn-siteSenior
pythonrmachine learningpytorchllmelectrical engineering+5

About Nebius: Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy. We are building a full-stack AI cloud platform that supports developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment, without the cost and complexity of building large in-house AI/ML infrastructure. Built by engineers, for engineers. From large-scale GPU orchestration to inference optimization, we own the hard problems across compute, storage, networking and applied AI. Listed on Nasdaq (NBIS) and headquartered in Amsterdam, we have a global footprint with R&D hubs across Europe, the UK, North America and Israel. Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D. The role Nebius Token Factory is looking for scientists who can turn frontier LLM and VLM inference bottlenecks into research questions, conduct rigorous experiments, and translate their findings into production capabilities. You will own focused research and optimization projects, write strong code, and produce prototypes, publications, and technical artifacts that engineers can build on. Your research will span quantization, distillation, speculative decoding, KV-cache optimization, and model/runtime co-optimization, alongside inference engines and distributed inference architectures. You will investigate how these approaches interact, evaluate their trade-offs across model quality, latency, throughput, memory footprint, and cost per token, and work with engineering teams to bring promising results into production. Your responsibilities Lead research projects in efficient LLM and VLM inference, from hypotheses and experiments through ablations, prototypes, and production handoff. Develop and evaluate methods spanning quantization, quantization-aware training (QAT), distillation, speculative decoding, KV-cache reuse, KV-cache compression, long-context inference, MoE routing, and model/runtime co-optimization. Build prototypes using PyTorch, Triton, CUDA-adjacent tooling, or inference-serving frameworks, and collaborate with MLEs and platform engineers to turn them into production components. Research LLM request routing and scheduling strategies, including cache-aware load balancing and prefill–decode disaggregation (PDD). Evaluate how queueing, KV-cache transfer, worker placement, and prefill/decode capacity allocation affect latency, throughput, and serving cost. Investigate multi-node inference for dense and mixture-of-experts models, including wide expert parallelism (WideEP). Study expert placement, load imbalance, and computation/communication trade-offs, and use the findings to guide model and system architecture choices. Develop rigorous evaluations covering quality, latency, throughput, numerical stability, memory footprint, tail latency, and cost per token. Compare serving architectures under consistent workload conditions and GPU budgets. Work with MLE, GPU kernel, backend infrastructure, product, and customer teams to select research priorities with measurable production impact. Share results through internal reports, technical blogs, papers, and open-source artifacts, and mentor engineers and scientists on experimental design, scientific rigor, and model/system trade-offs. Must-haves A PhD in computer science, machine learning, ML systems, computer systems, computer architecture, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or a closely related discipline. A strong publication record or equivalent research artifacts in ML, ML systems, efficient inference, model compression, quantization, distillation, serving systems, or related areas. Strong Python and PyTorch implementation skills, with the ability to turn ideas into experiments and working prototypes. Deep knowledge of LLMs, VLMs, transformer inference, decoding algorithms, model compression, quantization, and production-serving trade-offs. Strong experimental design skills covering ablations, baselines, metrics, statistical reasoning, and failure analysis. Excellent written and verbal communication. Nice-to-haves First-author publications at venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, MLSys, ACL, EMNLP, ASPLOS, OSDI, SOSP, ISCA, or HPCA. Experience deploying ML models or inference optimizations in production. Experience with vLLM, SGLang, TensorRT-LLM, NVIDIA Dynamo, FlashAttention, FlashInfer, Triton, CUDA, or PyTorch internals. Experience applying post-training, SFT, DPO, RLHF, RLAIF, preference optimization, or synthetic data generation to inference quality or efficiency. About Flexport: At Flexport, we believe global trade can move the human race forward. That's why it's our mission to make global commerce so easy there will be more of it. We're shaping the future of a $10T industry with solutions powered by innovative technology and exceptional people. Today, companies of all sizes—from emerging brands to Fortune 500s—use Flexport technology to move more than $19B of merchandise across 112 countries a year. The recent global supply chain crisis has put Flexport center stage as we continue to play a pivotal role in how goods move around the world. We are proud to have the support of the best investors in the game who believe in our mission, solutions and people. Ready to tackle global challenges that impact business, society, and the environment? Come join us. All security disciplines work under the umbrella of the combined PSI (Platform, Security & Infrastructure) team: we build the paved path and tooling that hundreds of engineers around the world rely on every day to ship. This is not a compliance or certification role. You won't be measured on audit portfolios. You'll be measured on the guardrails you build and whether engineering teams reach for them by default. A misconfigured IAM boundary here doesn't just degrade a dashboard: it can stall a customs filing or strand a container. Flexport also runs a genuinely heterogeneous estate: hundreds of services, carrier and customs integrations, and infrastructure spanning three continents, which makes multi-account architecture and cross-border data handling real problems rather than exam questions. What You'll Do Architecture & guardrails Design and review cloud security architecture for AWS and Kubernetes: account structure, network segmentation, workload identity, and secure-by-default patterns for new services. Fix the Terraform module, not the finding — drive remediation-at-source so misconfigurations get closed at the pattern level, not one ticket at a time. Kubernetes & workload security Harden our Kubernetes platform: pod security, service mesh and network policy, secrets management, and supply-chain controls (image provenance and signing). Partner with platform engineers so new services inherit secure defaults instead of requesting them after the fact. Policy & automation Build and maintain policy-as-code and IaC scanning that block risky patterns in CI. Write real code — Go or Python, shipped through the same CI/CD the rest of engineering uses. Partnership Act as the local technical voice on cloud and infrastructure security for our Amsterdam engineering teams, and partner closely with the US-based cloud security team. You Should Have Typically 5–8 years of experience in cloud, infrastructure, or platform security engineering, including hands-on AWS and Kubernetes work — we care more about what you've built than the exact number. If you meet most of this, apply. Proficiency in at least one compiled language (Go or similar) and one scripting language (Python or similar). Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar) and a GitOps delivery model — changes shipped through code review, not tickets and manual steps. Working knowledge of IAM and least-privilege design across cloud and container environments. Nice to Have Experience with cloud security posture tooling (Wiz, Orca, Prisma, or similar) as a signal source rather than an end in itself. Software supply-chain security experience (SLSA, artifact signing, provenance). Familiarity with EU data-residency and cross-border data-handling considerations. Multi-cloud experience. How We Work In Amsterdam we come to the office 3 times a week to hang out, whiteboard, and ship together. We stay closely aligned with our coworkers on other continents. We have the latest hardware and software, including frontier AI models on day one. We're agile, but not dogmatic. Teams decide how they work best. Why This Role Is Special You'll inherit a real, established estate with legacy to pave over — not a blank slate. If you want the harder, more honest version of greenfield work, this is it. This is a builder's cloud security role in a market where the comparable senior openings skew toward certification and audit work. You won't be asked to own a PCI portfolio here. You're part of PSI: security is treated as infrastructure with real engineering quality bars, not a policy function. We sponsor visas for the right candidate. What's in it for you An opportunity to contribute to one of the fastest-growing companies, where you'll have the chance to create a global impact while being part of a thriving multinational environment. Daily catered lunches incl. vegetarian options, breakfast, snacks and soft drinks available in our office on a daily basis. Commute expenses: Flexport will cover home-office commuting costs for employees living outside of Amsterdam. 25 working days as vacation days based on full-time employment. Health insurance: Flexport offers a collective health insurance plan including a basic package and any available additional packages. Your monthly premium is fully paid by Flexport. A defined pension contribution scheme. Equity program: every team member becomes a shareholder, aligning our success with yours. As a private company in a multi-trillion dollar industry, you have a direct stake in our collective growth and success. Employee Assistance Program through Aetna Resources for Living: Flexport provides an employer-sponsored program at no cost to you and your household members. Parental leave benefit: Flexport is here to support you and your family during one of the most important times in life — the birth of a child. Our parental leave program allows both mothers and partners to take time off from work for pregnancy, childbirth, and to bond with your new child. #LI-onsite #LI-YK1 Commitment to Equal Opportunity At Flexport, our ability to fulfill our mission of making global commerce easy and accessible relies on having a diverse, dedicated and engaged workforce. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical and mental disability, health status, marital and family status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by applicable law. Global Data Privacy Notice for Job Candidates and Applicants Depending on your location, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) may regulate the way we manage the data of job applicants. About CuspAI CuspAI is the frontier AI company on a mission to solve the breakthrough materials needed to power human progress. While nature took billions of years to perfect molecules, we are harnessing AI to unlock trillion-dollar materials breakthroughs in months, not millennia. Our founding team is the most cited in the world, comprised of world-class researchers in AI, chemistry and engineering. We are working on some of the hardest and most important challenges including energy, clean water, the future of compute, and carbon capture, and this is just the start of what our 'search engine' for next-generation materials will unlock. We invite you to be part of a diverse, innovative team at the intersection of AI and materials science, working to create impactful partnerships that drive innovation, scalability, and industry collaboration. This work matters. Your work matters. We're on the cusp of the on-demand materials era. Join us. The Role Due to rapid growth in our partner lab network, we are seeking a Scientific Product Manager to join our Product team and bring partner labs and their experimental workflows onto the CuspAI platform. Your impact This is an exciting opportunity to join the product team at CuspAI, working closely with materials scientists, ML researchers and platform engineers to make AI-driven experimentation work in real laboratories. As one of a small team of Scientific Product Managers, you will take ownership of a set of partner labs and the lab integration work around them, translating what each lab actually needs into requirements our engineers and ML researchers can build against. Alongside the product work, you will spend real time with your partners' teams and their experimental data. What You Will Do Product Requirements & Roadmap Shape and prioritise the roadmap for how experimental data, protocols and campaigns get into the CuspAI platform, together with your fellow Scientific Product Managers, the engineering lead and the wider product team. Write requirements, specifications and acceptance criteria that engineers can build from, covering experiment types, instrument integrations and LIMS/ELN connections, and work with the data team on the underlying data models and provenance. Contribute to decisions on what we build, what we integrate, and what we leave to partners' existing systems. Partner Lab Onboarding Lead technical discovery with the partner labs you take on: map their workflows, instruments, sample logic and data systems, and pin down the true experimental unit and the parameters that matter. Own onboarding for your partner labs from scoping to the first closed-loop campaign, and turn each onboarding into reusable patterns and documentation shared across the team so the next one is faster. Act as the main scientific counterpart for the partner labs you look after, and represent the product in partner meetings, workshops and conferences. Closed-Loop Campaigns Work with ML researchers to design optimisation campaigns (e.g. Bayesian optimisation) that respect real experimental constraints such as throughput, noise and failed samples. Define how platform-driven campaigns are validated, including benchmarks against manual or legacy workflows, success metrics and the evidence we bring to partners. Must Have Skills and Qualifications: PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering or a related experimental discipline, or equivalent experience in scientific research. Hands-on experience with high-throughput or automated experimentation (e.g. robotic synthesis, combinatorial libraries, automated characterisation, or self-driving / closed-loop labs) in industry, a national lab or research institute, or academia. Proven track record of translating scientific or process needs into requirements for engineers, software teams or automation vendors, and of validating that what was built works in the lab. Firsthand understanding of how experimental data is produced and where it fails: which metadata and provenance matter, instrument quirks, data quality issues, and what makes a dataset usable for machine learning. Depth in at least one materials domain (e.g. semiconductors and thin films including photovoltaics, catalysis and electrochemistry, energy materials including batteries, polymers and formulations, or separations and surfaces) and the curiosity to work across others. Working knowledge of Python for data handling and analysis; comfortable working with APIs and data schemas. Strong communicator and a proven collaborator, comfortable working directly with external partner labs as well as multidisciplinary science, ML, product and engineering teams. Bonus Points (But Not Critical): Direct experience with closed-loop optimisation in an automated setting, such as Bayesian optimisation, active learning or design of experiments. Experience with research data management, LIMS/ELN systems, FAIR data or metadata schemas, and familiarity with lab data standards (e.g. SiLA 2, AnIML, Allotrope). Instrument integration experience, including vendor software, data formats, and scheduling or orchestration. Product or project management experience, such as roadmaps, user research, external research collaborations or vendor relationships. We are equally open to strong experimental scientists making their first move into product. Experience working in industry at a materials, chemicals, energy or deep-tech company, or closely with industry at a research institution or national lab. Experience coordinating work across multiple labs, sites or countries. Additional Considerations This role could be based in any of our locations with the expectation of being in the office three days per week. Additionally, there may be regular travel required to partner labs and other locations for collaboration and project work. What We Offer A competitive salary: We value and reward impact and growth Equity in CuspAI: You have a stake in the success of the company Time off to stay fresh: 28 days holiday (DE, NL, UK) or 21 days holiday (JP, SG, US), in addition to local public holidays 'Gold Standard' parental leave: 26 weeks (primary caregiver) and 12 weeks (secondary caregiver) at full pay - we look after you and your family while we work on the most important materials discovery problems together Professional development budget: We invest in your career development so you can stay up to date with the latest industry knowledge or add to your skills to increase impact and growth Solve meaningful problems: See how your work has a direct impact on advancing materials science and solving sustainability and climate-related problems through the creation and application of bleeding-edge SOTA technology and revolutionary techniques True interdisciplinary teamwork: Be part of a deeply collaborative environment bridging AI research, computational chemistry, and experimental science - work with world-class researchers and engineers who enjoy sharing knowledge and supporting each other Join us in shaping the future of materials with AI. Together, we can create groundbreaking solutions for a more sustainable world. CuspAI is an equal opportunities employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace . We do not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic or national origin, disability, age, citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy or related condition (including breastfeeding), veteran status, or any other basis protected by applicable law. We actively encourage applications from all backgrounds and value the unique perspectives and contributions that diversity brings to our team. Please let us know if you require any specific adjustments during or after the interview process. We will do everything we can within reason to accommodate. Senior Data Platform Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join the Data Platform at Smartly! Smartly is building the standard path for governed data sharing across product services, analytics, and AI/ML. The Data Platform team owns the contracts, control mechanisms, publication paths, catalog metadata, lifecycle rules, lineage, permissions, and runtime building blocks that make reusable data safe and practical at scale. This is a role for someone who wants to shape a platform early, while working on concrete production problems from the start. Smartly already has the production systems, Kafka backbone, PostgreSQL databases, analytical consumers, and AI/ML use cases that need a better data foundation. The challenge is to turn that reality into a standard path that engineers actually want to use. Our first milestone is focused: centrally managed publishing tables in service-owned PostgreSQL databases, captured through Debezium CDC into Kafka, and registered in DataHub with ownership, lifecycle, lineage, and impact-analysis metadata. Longer-term, the platform expands toward self-service data products, governed materialisations, durable shared state, and reusable data across Smartly's operational and analytical systems. This is not a role where you only maintain an existing reporting pipeline. You will help design and build the platform path that other engineering teams use when they publish and consume shared data. What you will do Design and build platform services, tools, and workflows for contract-driven data publishing and consumption. Build the first production path for platform-managed PostgreSQL publishing tables, Debezium CDC, Kafka topics, and catalog registration. Create GitOps-style workflows where contracts, schemas, ownership, lifecycle, compatibility, policy metadata, and runtime desired state are reviewed, validated, and reconciled as code. Build tooling that gives product engineers fast feedback before they publish or change data products. Help define how Smartly models data products, publishing contracts, schema evolution, field stability, deletion semantics, access policy, lineage, and cost attribution. Operate and improve the CDC runtime model, including Kubernetes workloads, source-specific isolation, offsets, schema history, heartbeats, signal channels, lag visibility, replay, resnapshotting, and recovery. Integrate platform metadata into DataHub so engineers can discover data products, understand ownership, trace lineage, and reason about the impact of changes. Work with product, infrastructure, data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML teams to make the standard path easier and safer than bespoke point-to-point integrations. What we are looking for Strong experience building and operating production software systems, preferably in platform, infrastructure, backend, or data-intensive environments. Deep understanding of distributed systems trade-offs: reliability, idempotency, replay, eventual consistency, ownership boundaries, compatibility, and operational failure modes. Practical experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases, including schema design, migrations, transactions, replication, or operational performance. Experience with Kafka, event streaming, CDC, Debezium, or adjacent data-movement technologies. Direct Debezium experience is valuable, but strong fundamentals matter more. Experience building software that other engineers use: CLIs, internal platforms, control planes, automation, CI validation, developer tooling, or self-service workflows. Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud or infrastructure platforms, including runtime isolation, deployment, observability, and operational ownership. Ability to turn ambiguous architectural direction into practical increments, make trade-offs explicit, and deliver useful production systems without waiting for perfect certainty. Clear written and spoken communication in English. This role involves aligning multiple engineering teams around standards, contracts, and ownership boundaries. Useful experience, but not required DataHub or other data catalog, lineage, or governance systems. Open table formats such as Apache Iceberg, object-store-backed data lakes, S3, BigQuery, ClickHouse, or analytical storage systems. GitHub Actions, policy-as-code, infrastructure-as-code, controllers, operators, or reconciliation-based systems. Data contracts, schema registries, Protobuf, Avro, JSON Schema, compatibility checking, field-level metadata, or contract testing. Experience supporting analytics, AI/ML, feature-store-style access patterns, or cross-domain product-service integrations. Experience with JVM languages and Python, TypeScript, Go, or Ruby. What we offer you At Smartly, we offer a place where you can do meaningful technical work while growing with a global team. Inclusive global culture built on trust, transparency, open feedback, and respect for different perspectives. Global impact through technology used by major brands to plan, create, optimize, and understand digital advertising at scale. Wellbeing support, paid holidays, family leave, and sustainable ways of working. Equity options, performance-based rewards, competitive compensation, and career development opportunities. A flexible hybrid workplace that balances office collaboration with focused remote work. At Smartly we work 3 days a week from the office. About Smartly Smartly is an advertising technology company helping brands create, manage, optimize, and understand digital advertising across major media platforms. Our engineering organization builds the systems that connect media, creative, and intelligence capabilities into a product used by customers globally. We value clear communication, ownership, curiosity, and collaboration across teams. We want Smartly to be a place where people can do strong work, grow, and feel respected. Not sure you tick every box? Please apply anyway. We care about strong engineering fundamentals, ownership, curiosity, and the ability to build reliable systems with others. Direct experience with every technology listed here is less important than the judgment to learn, reason from first principles, and ship useful platform capabilities.
