It suits "T-shaped" engineers who thrive on autonomy and technical leadership. We embrace flexibility in where and how work gets done and also value meaningful in-person moments to connect and collaborate. You can expect a remote-first working model with periodic in-person gatherings at your closest office for team connection, planning, or other key moments. This position is open to candidates based within a commutable distance (generally up to 1.5 hours) of one of our office hubs in London, Oxford, Krakow or Lisbon. What You'll Do Lead Technical Design: Own features end-to-end, leading the design and implementation of highly visible features while balancing security, privacy, and performance. Elevate the Team: Set the bar for code quality, lead the adoption of review standards, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers. Master Agentic AI: Use AI tools as a strategic partner to plan approaches, decompose ambiguous work, and establish new standards for monitoring and reliability. Optimize Systems: Actively look for opportunities to simplify, consolidate, or retire legacy code to reduce complexity and increase team velocity. Skills & Experience We typically look for 5+ years' experience, following a Bachelor's degree or above in Comp Science or a related field. Distributed Systems Expertise : Deep understanding of concurrent programming and experience building high-performance, scalable backend systems in cloud environments. Analytical Mindset: A habit of asking "how will we know this worked?" and using operational data or experiment results to validate every significant technical decision. Full-Stack Proficiency: Strong experience in at least one modern backend language (e.g., Java, C#, Go, Python) and familiarity with modern front-end frameworks. AI Coding: you are fluent coding with either Cursor or Codex/Claude/Open Code. Navigating Ambiguity: Comfortable making rational tradeoffs between non-functional requirements and delivery speed in an evolving environment. Collaborative Leadership: Proven ability to build relationships across disciplines and communicate technical trade-offs to non-technical partners. We'd love to see experience with NoSQL databases, GraphQL, Kafka, or containerization (Docker/Kubernetes). Experience building tools or abstractions that provide leverage to an entire engineering team is also a significant plus. We don't expect you to know everything on day one. More than any specific tool, we value curiosity and the ability to solve problems creatively. We value engineers from different technical backgrounds. You can complete our coding interview exercises in any language of your choice, but need to be open to working within the Java ecosystem when you join! Apaleo is the world's most open, API-first property management platform powering the next generation of hospitality operations. Its modular, AI-powered infrastructure enables hoteliers to customise their tech stack, automate routine work, and deliver seamless, personalised guest experiences, powered by best-in-class apps and autonomous AI agents that adapt to every stay. Why this role You are the technical voice in front of strategic customers, at a moment when hospitality is being rebuilt around AI. We are launching our own AI agent platform, and we need architects who can show operators what comes next. High trust. You own the technical answer in front of strategic customers and deals. High visibility. Your work shows up in deals, key accounts and customer stories, and it reaches Product. High freedom. You decide how to solve a problem, which tools to use and what to prototype. Fast iteration. We test ideas within days, try new technology early and share what works. Your mission Win and grow strategic accounts with technical credibility, and turn what you learn in the field into input for the product. You look at a customer's current architecture and show how an Apaleo-centred setup delivers their goals. You also help them put AI agents to work, deciding what should be an agent, what it costs and how to set it up. Sales and Account Management own the relationship and the commercial terms. You own the technical answer. What you will do Technical discovery and solution scoping. Lead discovery where a standard demo is not enough. Write clear scopes covering what Apaleo delivers natively, what needs a short-term solution and what is out of scope. Proofs of concept. Build fast, working proofs of concept (quick demos that show technical fit). Agree scope in writing first, and build in a safe test environment, never with live guest data. Agents and automations. Design and build agents and automations for customer use cases, using n8n or Make today and Apaleo's own AI agent platform as it launches. Write code where agents need deterministic steps. Hands-on delivery and short-term solutions. Work alongside the customer, building only where it unblocks a named deal, removes an adoption risk or fills a product gap. Agree an exit plan (an end date, a replacement and a named owner) before you start. Post-sale health checks and expansions. Diagnose gaps against the go-live specification, run proactive checks (for example 90 days after go-live) and scope integrations for expanding customers. Reusable assets. Turn every engagement into a reference architecture, pattern or template that the next twenty customers can use. Thought leadership. Join prospect and customer conversations on how AI will change hospitality over the next two to three years. Product feedback. Test new technology on real customer problems. Share prototypes and field evidence with Product, ending every experiment with a clear decision: adopt, hand over or drop. How you work You decide the approach, the stack and the order of work. You protect three guardrails: written scope before a proof of concept, an exit plan before a custom build and no commercial promises. You go from idea to prototype in days and show it early. You think in systems and build for reuse, not one-off projects. You share findings openly with Sales, Account Management and Product. Who you work with Sales/BD and Account Management (they call you in at defined deal triggers), Customer Success, Product, Security, Partnerships, RevOps and Senior Leadership. What you bring Must have Multiple years in solution architecture, solution engineering or technical consulting in B2B SaaS, ideally with complex software such as ERP or enterprise platforms Strong API skills: REST, authentication, webhooks and events, and data-flow design Hands-on workflow automation (n8n preferred) and practical experience building with LLM agents A systems thinker with real AI curiosity, who uses AI tools day to day Stakeholder management experience and credibility with executives and IT teams Self-direction, an ownership mindset and the discipline to say no to scope that does not advance a deal Curiosity that ends in working prototypes, not just opinions Clear, structured documentation habits Fluent English and French skills Willingness to travel, including regularly to France and the UK Strong plus Hospitality or travel experience, including hotel operations and PMS concepts (reservations, folios, rate plans, night audit) Experience with another cloud PMS, channel manager or payments integrations Enterprise architecture experience on large, multi-site projects Applied AI or ML background, or experience with MCP and agent platforms SQL and BI fundamentals How we measure success Architecture engagements and blueprints delivered each quarter Customer satisfaction with your contribution Adoption of recommended apps, integrations and agents Share of engagements served by an existing reusable pattern Revenue impact e.g. deal unblocked, AI adoption, or churn averted Your first 90 days Days 1 to 30: Learn the platform and ways of working, shadow discovery and proof of concept work, and take over open customer projects. Days 31 to 60: Lead technical discovery on live deals and run your first health check with Account Management. Days 61 to 90: Deliver a proof of concept or short-term solution end to end with an exit plan, and share your first experiment with Product. What We Offer Culture & Growth A Diverse & International Team: Work alongside passionate professionals from over 20 nationalities, bringing unique cultural perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences to shape the future of hospitality tech. Growth & Development: As we scale, so do your opportunities. You'll benefit from 360° feedback reviews, a dedicated learning budget, and plenty of chances to take on more responsibility. This is a true hunter-farmer role: you'll be equally accountable for sourcing, qualifying, and signing new reseller partners and for managing and growing the partners already in your book. You're comfortable running a cold or warm partner pipeline from first conversation to signed agreement, and just as comfortable sitting across from an existing partner asking "where's our next dollar of growth together." You'll work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Legal to build the partner pipeline, close new agreements, enable partners post-signature, and turn signed relationships into ramped, revenue-generating accounts. What You'll Do New Partner Development Identify, prospect, and qualify new reseller partner candidates across FMC, Telematics, and VAR segments, building and managing your own outbound pipeline. Own the full sales cycle for new partner agreements — discovery, pitch, commercial negotiation, legal/redline coordination — through signature. Score and prioritize prospective partners against Fleetio's qualification criteria (market fit, geographic fit, program maturity, pipeline potential) to focus effort on the highest-value opportunities. Build relationships with executive sponsors at prospective partner organizations to secure buy-in and accelerate path-to-close. Maintain an accurate, up-to-date view of the partner pipeline (stage, blockers, next actions, target ETA) in Salesforce/partner tracking tools. Existing Partner Growth Own a book of signed reseller partners end-to-end — from onboarding and enablement through renewal and expansion. Build and maintain a shared definition of "growth" with each partner: agreed targets for assets under management, ARR, and pipeline, tracked consistently and revisited regularly. Proactively identify incremental revenue opportunities within existing partner accounts — new segments, new use cases, underpenetrated regions, or expanded product attach. Drive partner performance against joint business plans, holding partners (and internal stakeholders) accountable to commitments and timelines. Support QBRs, joint marketing initiatives, and co-selling motions with key partners. Across Both Partner closely with internal Sales teams to ensure partner-sourced and partner-influenced opportunities are tracked, supported, and closed efficiently. Develop a deep understanding of each partner's business model, competitive position, and channel economics in order to tailor Fleetio's value proposition and identify white space. Represent the voice of the partner internally — surfacing blockers, feedback, and market intelligence to Product, Marketing, and Partnerships leadership. What We're Looking For 10+ years of experience in partnerships, channel sales, or a strategic account management role — ideally in B2B SaaS, fleet, telematics, or a related vertical. Demonstrated success in both new business development (sourcing and closing new partner/channel agreements) and account growth (expanding revenue within an existing partner book) — this is not a role for a pure hunter or a pure farmer. A strong sales and commercial orientation: you think in terms of pipeline, ARR, attach rate, and growth levers, whether the partner is brand-new or five years in. Proven track record of growing revenue through third-party partners/resellers, with concrete examples from both new-logo signing and existing-account expansion. Comfort managing complex, multi-stakeholder deals — including commercial negotiation and coordinating through legal/contracting cycles. Strong executive presence; experience building and maintaining relationships with senior partner stakeholders and sponsors, pre- and post-signature. Highly organized and self-directed — able to manage a diverse portfolio of partners at very different stages (prospecting, qualification, contracting, ramping, mature) simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting performance and plans to both partners and internal leadership. Experience with CRM/partner tracking tools (Salesforce or similar) for pipeline and account management. Familiarity with the fleet management, telematics, or FMC/VAR reseller landscape is a strong plus. Bias toward action and ownership — you don't wait to be told where the next dollar of growth is, whether that's a brand-new partner or an existing one; you go find it. Benefits Multiple health/dental coverage options (100% coverage for employee, 50% for family) Vision insurance Incentive stock options 401(k) match of 4% PTO - 4 weeks (increases at year two!) 12 company holidays + 2 floating holidays Parental leave - birthing parent (16 weeks paid) non-birthing (4 weeks paid) FSA & HSA options Short and long term disability (short term 100% paid) Community service funds Professional development funds Wellbeing fund - $150 quarterly Business expense stipend - $125 quarterly Mac laptop + new hire equipment stipend Fully stocked kitchen with tons of drinks & snacks (BHM only) Remote working friendly since 2012 #LI-Remote Fleetio provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants and prohibits discrimination and harassment. We raised $450M in our Series D funding round in March of 2025 and are on an exciting trajectory as a company. Fleetio is also a proud founding member of the Rails Foundation ! More about our team and company: Fleetio overview video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoXyXTFWbkg Our careers page: https://www.fleetio.com/careers Fleetio is writing a new chapter. We are moving from a well-loved product in a category we helped define to a brand that fleet operators, technicians, and executives recognize at first sight and trust on instinct. We put our name on a NASCAR race. We have a car on track with 23XI Racing. We are rebuilding the company narrative around where fleet operations are actually going — not where it has been. What we need now is the person who makes it all feel like one thing. As Senior Director of Brand, you own how Fleetio looks, sounds, and shows up — everywhere. Our visual identity. Our editorial voice. Our social presence and video work. Our earned media. The creative expression of the company story across every surface a customer, a candidate, or an analyst will ever touch. You will lead a talented in-house team and a set of agency partners, and report directly to the CMO on a marketing leadership team being rebuilt for the next stage of growth. This is a builder's role, not a caretaker's. The narrative foundation is being set now. You get to define the expression of it. Fleetio has a product customers love and a story the market has not yet fully heard. Closing that gap is the single highest-leverage thing marketing can do for this company right now. This seat is where that work lives. What You'll Own Brand system and creative. Visual identity, creative direction, and design standards across web, campaign, product surfaces, events, and sponsorship — the system that makes Fleetio recognizable in a category where most brands look interchangeable. Content and thought leadership. Editorial strategy and the content engine — thought leadership, long-form, owned research, and the always-on content that builds authority with fleet leaders and feeds organic and AI-driven search. Social and multimedia. Organic social and video as a real channel, not an afterthought — the presence that keeps Fleetio in the conversation between sales cycles. Communications and PR. Earned media strategy in partnership with our PR agency, executive visibility programs, awards, and the messaging discipline that holds across every external moment. Brand activation. Turning our 23XI Racing partnership and our field presence into a year-round content and storytelling engine — not a logo on a car. Team and partners. Hiring, developing, and leading the brand and content team; owning agency relationships, creative operations, and the intake and prioritization system that lets a small team punch far above its weight. What Success Looks Like In your first year: The new Fleetio narrative is live and consistent everywhere — from the homepage to the trade show booth to the sales deck — and it looks and sounds unmistakably like us. Awareness and share of voice move measurably in our favor in the fleet management category. The content engine runs at a cadence demand generation, and sales can actually build on, anchored by at least one owned research franchise, the industry cites. The NASCAR partnership produces story, not just impressions — with a content calendar behind every race weekend. The brand and content team is stronger, clearer on standards, and doing the best work of their careers. Who You Are 10+ years in brand leadership, including 4+ years leading and developing teams. You have taken a B2B brand — ideally SaaS, ideally at meaningful scale — through a narrative or identity evolution, and shipped it into market. Not just designed it. Shipped it. You have real taste, editorial and visual, and the judgment to know when good enough ships and when it does not. You are comfortable being measured. Awareness, share of voice, engagement, content-influenced pipeline — you can hold a number and defend it in front of a CEO. You are a genuine partner to product marketing, demand generation, events, and customer marketing. Brand does not work in a room by itself. You have managed agencies well — gotten more out of them than the retainer suggested. You like real-world industries. Our buyers are fleet managers, technicians, and operations leaders. They are not marketers, and they can smell marketing from a mile away. Nice to Have Sponsorship, partnership, or experiential activation experience — sports, motorsport, or large-scale events. Experience building or running an in-house creative studio. Challenger-brand or category-creation experience against a larger, better-funded incumbent. Fluency in how content strategy is changing under AI-driven search and answer engines. This role is all about connecting marketing to revenue, customers, and moments in the field. You'll partner closely with sales, bring creative ideas to life, and help us show up in ways that feel human, helpful, and memorable. If you love turning strategy into action and want to help shape what field marketing looks like here we'd love to meet you. This is a chance to help build something from the ground up, not just run someone else's playbook. You'll have the space to experiment, the support to make things happen, and a team that genuinely cares about doing great work together. At Fleetio, we believe the best ideas are simple, useful, and rooted in real customer needs. If that sounds like your kind of environment, you'll fit right in. Who you are The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has been in B2B SaaS long enough to know how things actually get done, but you're still hungry to build and improve. You're just as comfortable mapping out a territory plan as you are running an event or jumping into Salesforce to check pipeline. You don't think of field marketing as "events"; you think of it as creating meaningful touchpoints that move customers forward. You build strong relationships with sales because you genuinely care about their success (and they trust you because you deliver). You're organized but not rigid, creative but grounded in data, and you're excited by the idea of building something from scratch, with a team that values collaboration, ownership, and doing things the right way.
