How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. Strategy and Operations Lead, CEO Office

instagramperformance management

Company Description We're Checkout.com . You might not know our name, but companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony do, because we're behind many of the digital experiences you use every day. We are where the world checks out, enabling over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion global shoppers. Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there's a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale. If you want to do career-defining work, you've come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact. With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we're shaping the future of fintech – and we're just getting started. About the team We're building Strategy & Operations in the CEO Office to help Product and Engineering deliver the right work, at pace and with fewer surprises. Product sets what to build and why. Engineering builds it. S&O keeps the full picture in view, brings teams together and helps turn plans into results. As S&O Lead, you'll own that work across a product pillar and help raise the bar for how the wider S&O team operates. The impact is visible: what you improve in your pillar can shape how Checkout delivers elsewhere. The role This is a high-ownership role. You'll be accountable alongside the product leader for delivery, but you won't own the roadmap. You'll need to earn alignment, challenge commitments and stay close to the work. When priorities collide, you'll help decide what moves, what waits and what stops. You will: Keep the pillar's major initiatives in view. Know what matters, what is slipping and where teams are blocked. Raise risks early and bring a clear point of view. Be a trusted, independent partner to the product leader. Challenge dates and trade-offs, and help agree what to protect, move or stop. Product retains roadmap decisions. Personally lead the pillar's hardest cross-functional work, from getting teams aligned through to launch. Build and lead the S&O team in your pillar. Hire, develop and manage performance, while setting practical standards that help S&O deliver better across Checkout. What you'll do Own execution across the pillar. Keep priorities, delivery tempo, progress, dependencies and risks visible. Spot when plans are off track and bring a clear recommendation. Build deep expertise in the pillar's products: how they work, who they serve and how they make money. Challenge priorities and commitments with the product leader. Recommend what to protect, re-sequence, move or stop. The product leader owns roadmap and commit-date decisions. Personally lead the pillar's most important cross-functional initiatives, aligning Product, Engineering and partner teams and driving the work through launch to enable faster shipping Lead and develop the S&O team supporting the pillar. People leadership is core to the role, including hiring, development and performance management. Alongside pillar delivery, help shape practical standards adopted across S&O. What you'll bring You have strong problem solving and analytical skills. You can frame an ambiguous business question, build the analysis yourself, test hypotheses, quantify trade-offs and turn findings into clear business decisions. You move between strategy, hands-on delivery and building the organisation. You personally lead high-impact, cross-functional work and stay accountable through launch and results. You make execution repeatable. You build practical operating mechanisms and use data, automation or AI where they remove recurring friction or help teams scale. You influence without relying on authority. You challenge senior stakeholders constructively, communicate complex issues clearly and bring people to decisions. You raise the performance of others. You set clear expectations, give direct feedback and help people grow. Prior formal line-management experience is helpful, but evidence of leadership matters more. Strongly preferred: Payments, fintech or regulated money-movement experience would be a real advantage, especially if you've worked with licences, regulators, schemes or banking partners. It can help you see risks sooner and get up to speed faster. It isn't a requirement: strong operators from other sectors can be a great fit. What this role is not: Not support to the product leader. You own execution across the pillar and need to push back when commitments don't add up. Not a short-term consulting project. You stay with the work through delivery and build ways of working the team can keep using. Not a product role. Product sets the roadmap. Engineering builds the product. You make sure the pillar executes well. Additional Information Bring all of you to work We create the conditions for high performers to thrive, through real ownership, fewer blockers, and work that makes a difference from day one. Here, you'll move fast, take on meaningful challenges, and be recognized for the impact you deliver. It's a place where ambition gets met with opportunity, and where your growth is in your hands. We work as one team, and we back each other to succeed. So whatever your background or identity, if you're ready to grow and make a difference, you'll be right at home here. It's important we set you up for success and make our process as accessible as possible. So let us know in your application, or tell your recruiter directly, if you need anything to make your experience or working environment more comfortable. Financial Crime Oversight & Remediation Manager
Full TimeOn-siteMid

Role overview Complex merchants can create complex financial crime risks. Their corporate structures, operating models and control environments may span entities, jurisdictions and teams. When concerns emerge, effective action depends on more than identifying the issue: someone must bring the right people together, agree a credible response, and keep remediation moving until it is complete. As Financial Crime Oversight & Remediation Manager, you will provide that ownership. You will coordinate targeted oversight of higher-risk or strategically important merchant relationships, helping turn concerns into clear, proportionate and evidenced plans. You will work across Compliance, Financial Crime Investigations, onboarding, commercial and operational teams, and, where appropriate, directly with merchants. Your judgement will matter: you will need to know when a proposed control or remediation is credible, when evidence is insufficient, and when an issue needs escalation. This is a hands-on role for someone who combines financial crime compliance expertise with strong delivery discipline. You will help address issues early, support defensible decisions, and give complex remediation the structure and follow-through it needs. What you'll do Own targeted remediation coordination. For complex merchant concerns, bring together the relevant internal teams, clarify the problem and desired outcomes, agree accountable owners and milestones, and maintain a practical plan through to closure. Track dependencies and slippage, challenge gaps, escalate material blockers and confirm that completion is supported by evidence. Coordinate Compliance-imposed conditions. Track material financial-crime conditions attached to product, market or other approval decisions. Work with the relevant Compliance and business owners to confirm accountability, milestones and evidence of completion; identify slippage or gaps; challenge whether evidence demonstrates the condition has been met; and escalate overdue or inadequately evidenced actions through the agreed governance route. The relevant delivery owner remains accountable for implementing the condition. Coordinate enhanced oversight of merchants. Support a structured watch-list approach for merchants whose risk or control environment warrants closer attention than routine, risk-tiered monitoring, but where immediate termination or a formal investigation is not necessarily the right response. Help define the oversight plan, review progress and ensure concerns do not remain unresolved or without an owner. Assess remediation quality. Review proposed actions and evidence against the underlying financial crime concern and relevant regulatory expectations. Identify whether controls appear appropriately designed and operating, whether further evidence or testing is needed, and whether residual concerns require escalation or a change in the relationship's risk treatment. Engage merchants constructively. Where appropriate, work with account teams to agree clear requests, expectations and timelines with merchants. Maintain a firm, evidence-led approach while supporting a proportionate path to address weaknesses and establish whether the relationship can be sustained safely. Lead enhanced control reviews. Design and, where appropriate, lead deeper reviews of a merchant's AML controls during onboarding or ongoing oversight. This may include preparing agendas, conducting structured discussions with merchant stakeholders, probing key control areas, documenting findings and agreeing any required remediation. Support reliance and outsourcing assessments. Contribute to the initial scrutiny of outsourced activities or other arrangements that depend on another party's controls. Help establish whether reliance is justified, what evidence supports that view, and what conditions or remediation are required. Improve the oversight approach. Capture recurring issues, lessons and delivery gaps, and help refine processes, reporting and escalation so that complex concerns receive consistent, timely and well-evidenced attention. What you'll bring Experience in financial crime compliance, AML, or a closely related risk and control role, with a sound understanding of AML control frameworks and how to assess their design and effectiveness. Experience coordinating complex remediation, regulatory or audit actions, control reviews, investigations follow-through, or comparable cross-functional change. You can turn an ambiguous issue into a sequenced plan with clear owners, milestones and evidence of completion. The confidence and judgement to challenge senior stakeholders and merchants constructively, distinguish a credible response from a paper commitment, and escalate when progress or evidence is inadequate. Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to lead structured discussions, document findings clearly and translate complex issues into practical actions. Excellent organisation and follow-through across multiple workstreams, with a pragmatic approach to prioritisation, dependencies and changing circumstances. A collaborative style and the resilience to work through sensitive, commercially significant issues without losing sight of the control outcome. Experience with structured project management methods, such as Lean Six Sigma or PRINCE2, to drive organised execution across complex workstreams is a strong plus. Experience with complex merchants, payments, cryptoassets, money service businesses, correspondent or outsourced service models would be valuable. Relevant professional qualifications are welcome but are not a substitute for sound judgement and demonstrated delivery. Why this role You will work at the point where financial crime risk, merchant relationships and practical execution meet. The role offers meaningful ownership of issues that cut across teams and can shape whether concerns are resolved early, managed with appropriate safeguards, or escalated on a sound evidential basis. Success is visible in the quality of the decisions and the fact that agreed actions are actually completed.
